Collect duration

Hi there -
We developed multiple IDoc-XI-single File scenario and Collect duration time is set to 2 minutes.
When it go to Production, we are expecting more than 200,000 material is coming thru' the scenario at the first time. Regularly in Production we are expecting less than 1000 material on daily basis.
Please suggest what will be the ideal duration in Production.
Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom,
If huge number of idocs are coming then make it 1 hour +.
But if these many idocs comes at a time and if the collection of idocs are not able to finish within the 1 hour then you may end up with loosing some of the Idoc messages in the XI.
And it depends on the processing time of Idoc also.
Solution-
So use Local Correlation in the BPM
Try to send the idocs in chunks-
Refer this blog-

Hope this helps,

  • Minor GC Duration plateaus until Major GC

    We recently pushed our web app to 1.5. Since then we've noticed unusual behaviour in minor garbage collection durations.
    Our app uses a homebrew object store that requires large amounts of memory avail to the jvm. My problem is that when the app suddenly forces a large amount of memory into the old gen the minor GC's shoot up as well, and they only come back down to normal after a major GC. The frequency of minor GC's seem to be the same. Why is the size of the old generation impacting minor collection duration?
    The normal minor gc duration is around 70ms but during these plateaus they will go as long as 8000ms (8 seconds!) per minor gc.
    Here's our important config options:
    -Xss1048576
    -Xms1000M
    -Xmx3000M
    -Xmn300M
    -XX:PermSize=64m
    -XX:MaxPermSize=64m
    -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=6
    -XX:SurvivorRatio=4
    -XX:GCTimeRatio=14
    -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200
    -XX:+UseParNewGC
    -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2
    BTW - Yeah I know ParNewGC is almost equally as effective as the default when only using 2 cpus... (I wanted to try using MaxGCPauseMillis but that doesn't seem to help either) I also wanted to make sure it works since we are planning to move to 4 cpus soon.

    Yeah, after the upgrade I ripped out all the setting and started from scratch. I only started adding options when I started to notice the plateau behavior. The only thing I think might be happening is the list of in memory (old gen) objects might be getting to an unmanagable size which is causing the long minor GC durations when adding to that list. Or maybe the gc algorithm is detecting the spike in usage and is adjusting for the observed behavior.
    My baseline config looked something like this:
    -Xms3000M
    -Xmx3000M
    -Xmn300M
    -XX:PermSize=64m
    -XX:MaxPermSize=64m
    The perm size and old gen sizes were both fixed to gather a baseline behavior (the plateau behavior was very apparent). In our app perm size seems to work best when set to fixed at 64M. After I noticed that the mem wasn't getting too far above 1G usage I adjusted the -Xms down (giving the decision back to the GC algorithm) and the problem persisted. The maximums above are pretty much a must for our app. Our post-major GC usage runs at around 1-2G. Periodic spikes of 500M in the old gen are not uncommon.
    I know it'll do minor GC's at 70ms (even while using 2G+ of old). This plateau problem does not exist when the memory usage rises slowly, only when the usage jumps 100M+ at a time.

  • Sending IDOCS

    We are sending IDOCs from R/3 to our suppliers thru XI.
    Would it be possible to collect the IDOCS that are created for the day and send it at a particular time/after particular count(Say 200) from R/3 to XI in one shot?
    If this is possible what exactly we need to do in R/3 side?
    Thanks.

    HI Mohan,
    You can send all idocs at one time as package, but in  XI,it receives  one idoc per message. So again, in XI using BPM , you need to collect the Idocs for Specific interval of time/depends on the number of messages/depend on the Message.
    So it will not help you on this scneario.
    Check this blog to help in achieving the same with the help of BPMCollect Pattern.

  • Tab files to XML Structure

    Hi All,
    I have a scenrio where i would need to collect few tab files(without any pre-defined strcture) in a BPM .
    As it is a tab file, the content is not moved to any xml node and hence i am not able to set any correlations on this node.
    I would like to know if there is anyway by which i could moved the content of the tab file to a dummy xml node in a xml strcture.
    If so, i can create one more xml node in the same xml strcture and use that for my correlations.Similary i would need to reconvert the xml file to a tab file to be sent to the receiver.
    Thanks
    Senthil

    Hi,
    You can collect the TAB files by using a Dummy correlation(1=1) in the same IP instance.
    You can use the deadline branch inside the BPM to define the file collection duration.
    For XML conversion you can follow a generic approach as specified in blog /people/ravikumar.allampallam/blog/2005/06/24/convert-any-flat-file-to-any-idoc-java-mapping

  • Run single, consolidated AWR report on 4 adjacent snapshots?

    We typically collect snapshots in 60 minute periods for our instances. Recently, a customer ran a test for 3.5 hours. I created an ADDM report spanning the 4 snapshots (useful). However, being able to generate an AWR report for the same 3.5 hour duration would add additional insight.
    Currently, I can generate 4 separate AWR reports, one for each hour. However, I'd like to be able to create a single, consolidated AWR report. This way, I don't have to manually sum useful numbers like Executions contained in 4 separate AWR reports for SQL ordered by Elapsed Time, etc.
    Can I create one, aggregated AWR report? Or is my only other option to revise the snapshot collection duration before the next scheduled load test occurs (e.g. to 3.5 hours for a 3.5 hour load test)? Would prefer not to have to do this. But is it the only available option to accomplish what I need?
    Thanks very much.

    Thanks Rob. I'm able to run an ADDM report for the 3.5 hour duration I need. No problem there. I want to run a consolidated "AWR report" on multiple snapshots, e.g:
    Performance > Snapshots > Click a snapshot ID > Click Report tab (by default you are on the Details tab).
    This AWR report gives a lot more information than an ADDM report.
    Can I select multiple snapshots for the AWR report? I'm already doing so with ADDM reports.
    The title for the "AWR" report I'm interested in is: "WORKLOAD REPOSITORY report for." It doesn't have ADDM findings in it because it's not making recommendations--just reporting a large amount of snapshot details.
    I'm guessing now that the answer is "no" to what I'm asking. Hope this makes sense.

  • In the privacy policy, it states that percentages and durations of books read are being collected to ensure that publishers can have a metered price model, prices depending on how the book was read. Give me an example of a company with such a price model?

    In your privacy policy, you state that the percentages and durations of books read are being collected to ensure that publishers can choose a metered price model. Prices which depends on the duration for which the book was read.
    Give me an example of a company with such a price model? Are the information being collected even where the companies have not asked for the information, even when the metered price models are not being used?

    What information does Adobe Digital Editions collect and how is it used?
    The following information may be collected when an eBook with DRM is opened in Adobe Digital Editions software. If an eBook does not have any DRM associated with it, then no information is collected.
    User GUID: The User GUID is a unique value assigned in place of your User ID and is used to authenticate you.
    Device GUID: The Device GUID is a unique value generated to identify your device. It is used to ensure that the eBook may be viewed on your device and that the number of devices permitted by the license is not exceeded.
    Certified App ID: This ID represents the application that is being used to view the eBook, in this case Adobe Digital Editions. It is necessary to ensure that only a certified application may display an eBook. This helps to minimize piracy and theft of eBooks.
    Device IP (Internet Protocol): This identifies the country you are located in when you purchase an eBook.  It is used by eBook providers for the enablement of localized pricing models. Only the country identifier of the Device IP is stored.
    Duration for Which the Book was Read: This information may be collected to facilitate limited or metered pricing models entered into between eBook providers, such as publishers and distributors. These models are based on how long a reader has read an eBook. For example, you may borrow an eBook for a period of 30 days. While some publishers and distributors may charge libraries and resellers for 30 days from the date of the download, others may follow a metered pricing model and charge them for the actual time you read the eBook.
    Percentage of the eBook Read: The percentage of the eBook read may be collected to allow eBook providers such as publishers to implement subscription pricing models where they charge based on the percentage of the eBook read.
    Information provided by eBook providers relating to the eBook you have purchased: The following information is provided by the eBook provider to enable the delivery of the eBook to your device:Date of eBook purchase/download
    Distributor ID and Adobe Content Server Operator URL
    Metadata of the eBook, such as title, author, language, publisher list price, ISBN number
    How is the information transmitted?
    The data is sent periodically to Adobe via a secure transmission using HTTPS.
    How is the information used?
    Adobe uses the information collected about the eBook you have opened in Adobe Digital Editions software to ensure it is being viewed in accordance with the type of DRM license that accompanies that eBook. The type of license is determined by the eBook provider. For more information on how each piece of data is used, please see above.

  • Master Collection CS 5.5 Error 213:19

    Hi everyone,
    I am deploying the latest master collection package in our environment and long story short, everything installs fine without any errors, however when any of the Creative Suite products are run for the first time it brings up the following error:
    "A problem has occurred with the licensing of this product. Restart your computer and re-launch the product.
    If this problem still occurs after restarting, contact Customer Support for further assistance, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.
    Error: 213:19
    http://www.adobe.com/support/"
    Obviously our licensing is fine and our product key is valid as it was all purchased this year.
    I have found this article which refers to error 213:19... http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/896/cpsid_89617.html , I have followed its instructions by giving the 'domain users' security group modify permissions to the C:\ProgramData\Adobe and C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Slstore folders. This has not been successful for me.
    All of our users do not have administrative privileges to the local machine and nor can they be given those rights. I have been able to get it working by logging in as administrator, running one of the CS products, closing, logging out, and logging in as a restricted user. That works... but I'm not going to do that on 800 pc's!!!
    I should also explain how I am deploying this. I am installing MC5.5 on a hyper-v virtual machine and using SCCM 2007 to capture that machine so it is incorporated into my base image. CS4 Web Premium was delivered this way and it works perfectly, so whats changed?
    Any clues as to why this is happening, and how to fix it?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply, thats what Im working on currently. But I'm trying to figure out what permissions are needed where.. so far no luck. and because of my restricted user accounts procmon wont run! so its an elimination. I have the am3.log and its going on about the following:

  • A collections of questions on scheduling information

    Hello, I am doing some research on QoS management, and I need much scheduling information. So I got some questions.
    1 Based on the oracle scheduler, I want to design my own scheduler(non-preempt). That is, once a job is finished, the scheduler need to schedule new jobs based on some job information. So how can i design such a scheduler? I think it should be a job in the database, but it is neither periodic nor event-based.
    2 Each time my scheduler runs, it probably schedule a same job to run. If the former instance of this job has not completed, the new instance will be skipped. How can I disable the former instance and let the new instance run?
    3 I will configure a periodic job which will collect all of the statistic data at the beginning of each period. How can I read the duration time of each job which has been completed? I know I can read the duration time from ALL_SCHEDULER_JOB_RUN_DETAILS,but the accuracy of the duration time in that view is only second. I need better accuracy. Another problem is, if a job has completed several instances in the last period, how can i differentiate them from each other. Because all of the instance number is 1.
    4 And also, I need to know how much CPU time all of the jobs in the last period have consumed. How can I know the cpu time of each instance of each job?(not only the jobs which have completed but also those jobs which are running.) (because I need add them together and write some algorithm to control it not exceed 80% of the period.)
    I am sorry to put so many troublesome questions together. Hope somebody can give me some guidance. Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
    I'll try to answer some of these questions briefly.
    1 Based on the oracle scheduler, I want to design my
    own scheduler(non-preempt). That is, once a job is
    finished, the scheduler need to schedule new jobs
    based on some job information. So how can i design
    such a scheduler? I think it should be a job in the
    database, but it is neither periodic nor
    event-based.The design of a new Scheduler is not something I can really advise on. Perhaps you could have it based on a master process which is a Scheduler job that runs frequently (once every minute or so).
    2 Each time my scheduler runs, it probably schedule a
    same job to run. If the former instance of this job
    has not completed, the new instance will be skipped.
    How can I disable the former instance and let the new
    instance run? The Scheduler does not allow multiple instances of the same job to run. If you want multiple instances of your action to run you need to create a scheduler program and then you can have multiple jobs pointing to that program. Those jobs can happily run in parallel
    3 I will configure a periodic job which will collect
    all of the statistic data at the beginning of each
    period. How can I read the duration time of each job
    which has been completed? I know I can read the
    duration time from ALL_SCHEDULER_JOB_RUN_DETAILS,but
    the accuracy of the duration time in that view is
    only second. I need better accuracy. Another problem
    is, if a job has completed several instances in the
    last period, how can i differentiate them from each
    other. Because all of the instance number is 1.The jobs will have different requested_start_dates . To gain better accuracy you can use log_date-actual_start_date from the ALL_SCHEDULER_JOB_RUN_DETAILS view.
    4 And also, I need to know how much CPU time all of
    the jobs in the last period have consumed. How can I
    know the cpu time of each instance of each job?(not
    only the jobs which have completed but also those
    jobs which are running.) (because I need add them
    together and write some algorithm to control it not
    exceed 80% of the period.)You can do this by querying both ALL_SCHEDULER_JOB_RUN_DETAILS and ALL_SCHEDULER_RUNNING_JOBS .
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.

  • High Eden Java Memory Usage/Garbage Collection

    Hi,
    I am trying to make sure that my Coldfusion Server is optomised to the max and to find out what is normal limits.
    Basically it looks like at times my servers can run slow but it is possible that this is caused by a very old bloated code base.
    Jrun can sometimes have very high CPU usage so I purchased Fusion Reactor to see what is going on under the hood.
    Here are my current Java settings (running v6u24):
    java.args=-server -Xmx4096m -Xms4096m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:PermSize=256m -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=600000 -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=600000 -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false -XX:+UseParallelGC -Xbatch ........
    With regards Memory, the only memory that seems to be running a lot of Garbage Collection is the Eden Memory Space. It climbs to nearly 1.2GB in total just under every minute at which time it looks like GC kicks in and the usage drops to about 100MB.
    Survivor memory grows to about 80-100MB over the space of 10 minutes but drops to 0 after the scheduled full GC runs. Old Gen memory fluctuates between 225MB and 350MB with small steps (~50MB) up or down when full GC runs every 10 minutes.
    I had the heap set to 2GB initally in total giving about 600MB to the Eden Space. When I looked at the graphs from Fusion Reactor I could see that there was (minor) Garbage Collection about 2-3 times a minute when the memory usage maxed out the entire 600MB which seemed a high frequency to my untrained eye. I then upped the memory to 4GB in total (~1.2GB auto given to Eden space) to see the difference and saw that GC happened 1-2 times per minute.
    Is it normal in Coldfusion that the Eden memory would grow so quickly and have garbage collection run so often? i.e do these graphs look normal?
    Also should I somehow redistribute the memory available to give the Eden memory more since it seems to be where all the action is?
    Any other advice for performance improvements would be much appreciated.
    Note: These graphs are not from a period where jrun had high CPU.
    Here are the graphs:
    PS Eden Space Graph
    PS Survivor Space Graph
    PS Old Gen Graph
    PS Perm Gen Graph
    Heap Memory Graph
    Heap/Non Heap Memory Graph
    CPU Graph
    Request Average Execution Time Graph
    Request Activity Graph
    Code Cache Graph

    Hi,
    >Is it normal in Coldfusion that the Eden memory would grow so quickly and have garbage collection run so often?
    Yes normal to garbage collect Eden often. That is a minor garbage collection.
    >Also should I somehow redistribute the memory available to give the Eden memory more since it seems to be where all the action is?
    Sometimes it is good to set Eden (Eden and its two Survivor Spaces combined make up New or Young Generation part of JVM heap) to a smaller size. I know your thinking - what make it less, but I want to make it bigger. Give less a try (sometimes less = more, bigger not = better) and monitor the situation. I like to use -Xmn switch, some sources say to use other method/s. Perhaps you could try java.args=-server -Xmx4096m -Xms4096m -Xmn172m etc. I better mention make a backup copy of jvm.config before applying changes. Having said that now you know how you can set the size to bigger if you want.
    I think the JVM is perhaps making some poor decisions with sizing the heap. With Eden growing to 1Gb then being evacuated not many objects are surviving and therefore not being promoted to Old Generation. This ultimately means the object will need to be loaded again latter to Eden rather than being referenced in the Old generation part of the heap. Adds up to poor performance.
    >Any other advice for performance improvements would be much appreciated.
    You are using Parallel garbage collector. Perhaps you could enable that to run multi-threaded reducing the time duration of the garbage collections, jvm args ...-XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:ParallelGCThreads=N etc where N = CPU cores (eg quad core = 4).

  • When reading an encoder the computer performance suffers with program duration.

    Im working with a PCTIO-10 counter/timer card with Atmel AM9513A microcontrollers and a LAB-PC-1200AI Card. The Computer Im using is an older Compaq proliant 600 MHZ server running NT and Labview 5.1
    The objective of our application is to create a VI that controls a photometric lab. We swing a boom with a photocell attached to the end through a light source and collect intensity measurements along the way. We use the 1200AI card to activate a solenoid that controls direction of the boom and the TIO card is used to count encoder pulses and monitor boom location. The application then collects intensity measurements at specified boom angles. This is where we start to have problems The application works, as it should, monitoring boom location and collecting data at the correct angles: 10 deg, 20 deg, 30 deg, etc I wrote the application to execute in a do while loop constantly reading the TIO card and generating a boom angle. I then poke the results into a shift register. As soon as I read the correct angles from the shift register I collect the photocell data. The problem comes in after the program executes for a few minutes. The machine performance degrades as execution time elapses until ultimately the machine starts to miss pulses. Let me clarify this statement: the card/machine seem to keep track of all pulses emitted by the encoder BUT the machine cant get back to read the cards register before it misses the required angles. E.g. I want to collect data at 50 deg boom angle. The register is counting the pulses but the computer reads the register in a loop as: 46, 46, 46, 46, 47, 47, 47, 48, 48, 51, 51, 52, 52, etc The machine is counting the encoder pulses but the software cant seem to get back to the register in time to pick up on the correct angles. This problem is amplified as program execution time elapses until the machine starts to miss a series of numbers and also has trouble with monitor redraws/updates. The Windows NT task manager shows no memory leaking. Ive also tried to add small wait durations in the program to allow Windows time to multitask and do maintenance. It didnt help. I then scraped the original program and wrote a new one that starts and stops the counters when not needed for short periods. I also reset the registers at the top and bottom of the boom stroke in an effort to free up the processor and/or memory, but the problem persists. Im either writing a poor program or I need a way to dedicate to processor to this task. Any input will be appreciated.

    It's difficult to pinpoint without any code posted. However, a sluggishness that increases with run time can be a symptom of a program that keeps resizing and/or copying fairly big arrays. Can you post some of the code?
    Also, there may be a different approach that will let you hardware-capture excess data, then extract the subset of interest in a post-processing step. This way you can be sure not to miss any points.
    The idea would be to perform a buffered analog acquisition of your photocell(s), using the encoder pulses as an external scan clock. There are shipping examples that show how to do such things, and I think the Lab-PC-1200AI should support them.
    You could set up an acquisition buffer a bit bigger than the # of encoder pul
    ses in your boom's range of travel. After collecting one scan for each encoder position, you can then extract data at or around the positions of particular interest. Just note that the data at index i corresponds to your previous method's position i+1.

    can anyone help me on these issue

    Why a pipeline table function? I would not say that a tokeniser function is something that typically should require working in the SQL engine, piping rows. It can be a very straight forward PL/SQL function that returns a collection of strings.
    E.g.
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE function tokenise( line varchar2, separator varchar2 DEFAULT ',' ) return TStrings AUTHID CURRENT_USER is
    2 strList TStrings;
    3 str varchar2(4000);
    4 i integer;
    5 l integer;
    6
    7 procedure AddString( s varchar2 ) is
    8 begin
    9 strList.Extend(1);
    10 strList( strList.Count ) := s;
    11 end;
    12
    13 begin
    14 strList := new TStrings();
    15
    16 str := line;
    17 loop
    18 l := LENGTH( str );
    19 i := INSTR( str, separator );
    20
    21 if i = 0 then
    22 AddString( str );
    23 else
    24 AddString( SUBSTR( str, 1, i-1 ) );
    25 str := SUBSTR( str, i+1 );
    26 end if;
    27
    28 -- if the separator was on the last char of the line, there is
    29 -- a trailing null column which we need to add manually
    30 if i = l then
    31 AddString( null );
    32 end if;
    33
    34 exit when str is NULL;
    35 exit when i = 0;
    36 end loop;
    37
    38 return( strList );
    39 end;
    40 /
    Function created.
    SQL>
    SQL> select * from TABLE(Tokenise('col1,col2,col3,,col5,and so on'));
    COLUMN_VALUE
    col1
    col2
    col3
    col5
    and so on
    6 rows selected.

  • BAPI for updating Maintain Duration in Transportation and Delivery scheduling

    Hi all,
    Iam looking for a BAPI to update the Duration Times in Transportation and Delivery scheduling. I reluctant to use recording on SM30 Table maintenance T code and use it in LSMW. Is there a BAPI or Standard i/p Program to load these details. I have more than 200000 records to input.
    A list of all BAPI's in Transportation Management module would be great as well.
    Regards,
    Avi

    Hi,
    @praveen: I tried the solution provided by you and it worked for me in this context. But it seems this BADI gets triggered every time the delivery is getting saved. So for my test purposes, I'm triggering this BADI in a program, but in actual scenario, the BADI would be called on every sy-ucomm = 'SICH_T' i.e. SAVE. hence, I can't separate my piece of code using this condition.
    I'm trying to call my FM(update module in collective run mode) inside this BADI in backgrnd task as a separate unit but this doesn't seem to work.
    Any more suggestions?
    Thanks
    Ashish

  • It is possible to use a VOD HTTP Stream in an iTunes U Collection and/or Course?

    We wish to better comply with TEACH Act guidelines by using VOD (video on demand as opposed to real-time streaming) HTTP Streaming where an instructor is asserting educational fair use of copyrighted material.  The key component in TEACH guidelines is that the student not be able to retain the materials beyond the duration of the course.  Thus, VOD HTTP Streaming will meet this specification nicely and is supported across all of iOS and MacOS X.
    Thus, the question: It is possible to use a VOD HTTP Stream in an iTunes U Collection and/or Course?

    I knew about that, but my question is, if it is possible to use an europe power adapter.
    Because i dont want to a carry around an power adapter and a plugin adapter.
    I hope you understand what i mean.

  • How to find out the top 10 data loads based on time duration?.

    Hi,
    We are working on performance tuning. so we want to find out the top 10 loads which had run long time in date wise.
    We need the load start time and end time of the load process, Infosource and datatarget name.
    There are nearly 1000 loads, So it is very difficult to collect the load's timings in RSMO.
    Is there any another alternative to collect the top 10 loads based on time duration in date wise?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Raju

    Hi Gangaraju,
    You can install BI Statistics for getting these type of data.
    Or you check in RSDDSTAT or RSMDATASTATE_EXT or  table for the Load process time.
    Or goto t-code ST13 to get detailed analysis of a Process chain for a given period.
    Hope this helps.
