College Management System Database

I'm creating one software for College Management System. In which I'm stuck over in Academic Routine(Time Table) creation module. For time table creation module we need three tables, namely SUBJECT{Subject_id, Subject_name, Department_ID,Year}, DEPARTMENT{Department_ID, Department_name,HOD}, FACULTY{Fac_ID, Last_Name, First_Name, Middle_Name, Department_ID, Subject_ID}.
Now the problem is multiple departments can have the same subject, for example, in Mechanical 1st Year, and also in Computer Science and engineering 1st year we have subject Data Structure and Algorithm with same subject code. Also multiple teachers can teach a single subject. So I'm unable to understand how to perform the data integration and how to insert data into it.
Please help.

It sounds like you need a bridge....
deptments_subjects(department_id number, subject_id number);
teachers_subjects(fac_id (I assume this is the teacher id?!) number, subject_id number)
You then insert one record for each incidence of dept / subject or teacher / subject respectively.
You may also want a primary_subject flag, or similar in the bridge table, or possibly a primary_subject_id in the parent table.
Hope this makes sense.
regards,
Robert.

  • Database design (ERD )for Inventory Management System

    Dear All,
I am going to develop a simple Inventory Management System software using C# .NET for my learning. After searching different forums, many people have suggested to first create a database design for the software. I want a database design, in short, an ERD
diagram for simple Inventory Management System which shows proper entities(tables), attributes and relationship between entities.
It would be highly helpful for me as I am newbie to C# and databases.
    Thanks,
    momersaleem

    Dear Rebecca,
    Thanks for you suggestions.
As I am going to develop IMS for learning purposes so I think I wouldn't need to go in detail regarding Customer name and addresses. However, I am still thinking of adding country attribute in customers' table which I think will be helpful to sort out customers.
What's the difference between a purchase and an order?  They're usually the same thing, which doesn't mean you're
wrong, but what are you picturing here? Purchase entity will be used to keep record of purchases you made and an order entity will be used to keep record of orders that cutomers placed.
    Pricing:
Any order system needs to manage two very distinct bits of data that are easy to confuse. The price in the Product entity is the current
price. The price in the Order entity is the selling
price. Not at all the same thing--current price is almost certainly going to change over time. Selling price won't.
Does it mean that I'll change the price attribute for product to current_price and add selling_price to order table which will help to keep record of price at the time of order?
Why did you include a quantity field in the Products table? Is it meant to represent stock on hand?
Yes you are right. It represents stock in hand.
Could you please recheck the entities relationships as I am not confirmed whether these are correct or not?
    Thanks,
    momersaleem

I believe the precise answer is that Oracle is ORDBMS (Object-Relational DBMS).For a brief period in time Oracle Corporation offered a product called Object Oriented Oracle (OOO).
It was such a wonderous product that it was buried in the trash can of history when it did neither task very well.

  • Comparisons between database management system

    Hello everybody
i am new on this forum. I will like to know advantages and inconvenients of Oracle compared to SQL Server, MySQL, and other database management systems.
Thank you for your precious help. I need that comparative studies urgently.
    Thanx

Your question is way too broad to be answered in a forum post-- it would take hundreds of pages to do the topic justice.
It's a bit like asking what the advantages & disadvantages are of an Indy car in comparison to a dump truck, a family sedan, an F1 racer, and other automobiles. You have to provide a lot of guidance as to which task or tasks you're seeking to accomplish and what sort of parameters you're working within.

  • Database management systems trends

    Hello,
Is there any official document which tries to predict the database management system trends? Like cloud computing? Distributed database systems?
    Thank you.

Is there any official document which tries to predict the database management system trends? Like cloud computing? Distributed database systems?I doubt that there is any official document. Every analyst may see it differently.
For example, my vision is -
DBMSes move in various aspects simultaneously, including
cloud computing and distributed database systems.
    Other aspects are:
    - standartisation of SQL language,
    - Very Large DB
    - using specific hardware and DB architecture for performance,
    - embedded DBs,
    - in memory DBs,
    - 100% online administration and management transparent to users,
    - automatic "self" administration and management
    - very smart optimizers
    - new data types (XML)
    - structure-less DBMS
    - DBMS that organizes data and detects data relationships automatically

  • Can I use my Office 365 for small business version of Sharepoint to develop a type of Business Database Management System?

We have an excel sheet that job enquiries are logged into, estimates and a quote are produced, upon receipt of an order a job is started and once completed gets invoiced. Standard business workflow stuff, can I get 365 to automate this?
I would like to be able to upon a new enquiry being entered and an order received, a set of job folders are automatically created using a unique number from the excel sheet as its job number. These folders would have certain document templates within
them for use on the related job.
I have been experimenting with Zoho Creator to develop a system to do this, but as we have adopted 365 (small business version) it would be preferable to be able to do this all in one place.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
As I understand, you would like to create a management system to create folders via number in Excel sheet.
In my view, we could import the Excel sheet to a list, then use workflow to get number and create folders.
Here is a forum specific for Office 365 SharePoint for your reference, please confirm the plan with support engineer there just in case:

  • I am a professor at Kettering College, Kettering, Ohio. The college learning management system is Angel. When Firefox updated to 7.0.1 Angel would no longer send e-mail. Can you fix this?

Any attempt to send an e-mail message in Angel resulted in the following non-responsive script: https://angel.kc.edu/jscript/yahoo/utilities/utilities.js:9. Our IT support suggests uninstalling Firefox 7.01. and going back to an earlier version. I would much rather have Mozilla assist us in making Angel work with Firefox. As Angel is a widely used learning management system I would think Mozilla would want to fix this problem. Thanks. Daryll Ward

  • Image Management System

Is it possible to employ photoshop album starter edition as an image management system for our College staff? The system would require to be searchable over out Intranet and contain many images.

It depends exactly what you want to be able to do. I doubt very much whether you could really get the functionality you'd need, as it's not was PSA SE 3 was designed for.
The paid-for versions have slightly more flexibility, but they are not designed to be multi-user. There are other products designed for such purposes, but they tend to be a little costly.

  • Solution manager system log - strange entries

    Hi Everyone,
the problem we are facing in Solution Manager system log every five minutes appears a new error message:
2 Database error -30082 at CON
    0 > SQL30082N Security processing failed with reason "24"
    0 > ("USERNAME AND/OR PASSWORD INVALID"). SQLSTATE=08001
First of all the landscape: ECC, BI, CRM, PI and Solman. Each system is DEV, QUA, PRD - except Solution Manager.
Result of going to see the logs within work directory:
    Connect to %_DCR_XXXXX as db2dcr with DB6_DB_NAME=DCR;DB6_DB_HOST=xxxxxx;DB6_DB_SCHEMA=SAPSR3;DB6_DB_SVCENAME=5912

C  *** ERROR => DbSlConnect to 'DCR' as 'db2dcr' failed
    [dbdb6.c      1732]
Some of the systems are being connected successfully and the error messages in SM21 are not related to those systems. But some of the systems like DCR cannot be reached. And this fact causing the error messages.
I haven't configured Solution Manager because I have joined the project later. I would like to know what job is trying to access the satellite system and for what purpose.
On solution manager side I have checked all the scheduled background jobs - all of them have been executed successfully.
There some of them are scheduled but it is hard understand what is purpose of the job.
I have checked and corrected system landscape through SMSY and have maintained all the RFCs. They all OK now.
What else could force to make a connection to satellite system? And where is the place where it is hardcoded local(satellite) db2 connection entry?
Like I said before, some of the systems are being connected but some not. The one which has not been connected - there was recently changed SAP master password. I believe this is the key to resolve the problem. But the system itself operating 100% correctly.
Perhaps it could be CCMS that makes some extra connections to collect the data from the monitored systems. But I have checked all the RFC's in SM59 and they were OK.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kind regards,
    Artjom.

    Kaustubh Krishna,
    thank you for respond.
It was dbacockpit. The connection was maintained with old db2sid password. And it was causing problematic log entries.
    Problem was solved.
    Points awarded.
    Thanks,
    kind regards,

  • How to create a built in Content Management System

Hey guys, I've found myself in a spot of trouble.
My client commissioned me to create for him a website for his new restaurant (Paul's Place). I built him a responsive site using another website I found online (www.megnarestaurant.com) as a guideline. The problem is though that the client plans on changing the menu about every month and wants to be able to change it himself. I could teach him how to edit the files and add new ocntent himself (It's not even that hard after all) but that just doesn't seem like the right option.
Instead, I want to create a built in content management system that doesn't require a third party website or software like Wordpress or Joomla. I was thinking about having a page called "www.paulsdiner.com/login" where the client can log in using a username and password and can then change the content of the website.
My menu page is pretty much the same as the one found on "www.megnarestaurant.com/starters.html". I'm also using gloriafoods as an ordering system meaning that the client will have to change it on both the website itself and on the actual gloriafoods website (Not really an issue).
I want the client to be able to edit the menu boxes and add new boxes along with being able to add a new menu section (Like in the Jump Menu) which follows the template of the existing Jump Menu.
I'm making this website as a favour to my friend so I'm not being paid. As a point of reference (And future bragging and maybe some innocent blackmail ) how much do you guys think the creator of "www.megnarestaurant.com" charged his client?

    Have a look at Perch
Perch - The really little content management system (CMS) - Perch
It requires a php/mysql database to run but the tables and set up are all automated through the Perch set up files - you just need a server that runs php/mysql. It works on the same principals as the one Ben suggested but its a lot cheaper for a one off site - however if you intend to build more CMS driven sites the one Ben suggested might be more financially viable in the long run.
The nice thing about Perch CMS is it fits in with your workflow unlike Wordpress/Joomla where you have to jump through hoops to change anything.
Plus I think you can take Perch for a spin before buying (or at least you could when I was exploring CMSs) - you can't with Power CMS. I never investigated Power CMS beacuse I would not buy something before trying it. It looks good but it might be a bit dated as it doesnt seem to be in continuous develoment. Perch is in a constant state of development and the guys are working to make it better on a daily basis.

  • Document Management System in Oracle EBS

    HI All,
does the EBS offer a document management system where I can store, check in/check out, display... documents with meta data and also original files (like a pdf or word file)?
If something like this exists, what are the corresponding objects and is there also an API for it (pl/sql or even better, web service)?
    Many thanks,
    Konrad

It is possible to store documents/attachments in Oracle EBS database.
    attachment tables
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/search.jspa?threadID=&q=attachment+tables&objID=c3&dateRange=all&userID=&numResults=15&rankBy=10001
This does not look a real "Document Management System" with meta data, version control, status handling and all that stuff, right?
If you are looking for a complete Document Management System, you may consider this product.
    Oracle UCM: Document Management
    http://www.oracle.com/us/products/middleware/content-management/document-mgmt/index.html
I need to integrate third party software to the EBS in so, other products do not help me. But thx anyway!

  • Document  Management System(DMS)

    Dear Expert,
We need to store the Employee revision letters( in PDF format) in DMS. Letters are currently in HTML format which we will convert them in to PDF format & store the same thru Document Magement System (DMS).
    I would like to know,
    1. How can we use DMS to store the letters in PDF format?
    2. Where can I find DMS configuration part in SPRO?
    3. I understand that DMS is a unique concept availabe in SAP HR. So how can I link DMS to HCM?
    4. Is SAP Archive link related to DMS ?
    5. Any documents/links related to this kinldy send it across.
    Thanks in Advnace,
    Regards,
    Damodar Pai.

    hi
    try with this
SAP DMS - Document Management System
SAP DMS are for storing documents such as CAD drawings, Materials pictures etc.
With the document management system, users will be able to view the documents with ease within their SAP systems.
Installing the SAP DMS requires a little bit of planning on how you want to do it.
You have to give a little thoughts to stuff such as :-
    1.  The total numbers of documents that will be store monthly.
    2.  The average file size of each documents.
    3.  The capacity of your present R/3 system.
    4.  Your present network bandwidth.
    5.   Document Archiving Strategy.
    6.   Backup and Recovery Plan.
Additional purchasing of hardware are required, especially if you have large amount of documents to stored.
With this in mind, you can then decide on how you want to do it.
You can do this in a few ways :-
    1.  Import the documents into the R/3 system.
    2.  Use an external document server.
    3.  Have a dedicated PCs where all the documents are stored.
Most companies that intend to used DMS will opt for Option 2 as they does not want to overstretch the R/3 database.
Options 1 requires you to setup the conversion interface.
The conversion interface allows R/3 to automatically covert your files and import it into the R/3 database.
Here is a simple example of storing documents into your PCs, just to have a feel how the SAP DMS works:-
For those using Citrix, you have to set this at the Citrix Server where the SAPGUI is located.
    Configure SM30 - V_TDWE_C1
Put this command in your autoexec.bat
    SET HOSTNAME=PC1234
    Restart your pc.
You can create/manage your documents in transaction code CV01N / CV02N
Assigning Documents to a Material Master Record
Access a material master record in Create or Change mode, and select Basic Data.
To create links to documents, choose Additional data -> Document data.
The Link to Documents dialog box appears.
Assign one or more documents to the material.
If you do not know what the document number is, you can search for it using the search help or by choosing Find document.
When assigning a document to a material, you have the following options:
    1. Viewing the document by choosing it in the Link to Documents dialog box.
    2. Viewing any originals of the document by positioning the cursor on the document and
choosing Display originals in the Link to Documents dialog box.
To return to the Basic Data screen, choose Continue.
    Save your data.
    all the best
    madhu
