Color Coding a status report

Hi All,
Is there a way in web dynpro to color code some values retrieved from a RFC call?
For example, say I have a BAPI that returns a status code in a table structure in the form of a character.
'R' - Red, 'Y' - yellow and 'G' -Green. In the web dynpro I loop thru the table to find out how many red, green and yellows have been returned, eg. R = 3, Y = 5 and G = 9.
Can I then show like a color coded progress bar with the actual colors in web dynpro?
Like so, RRRYYYYYGGGGGGGGG, with the letters being the actual colors? Can this be done?
Any suggestions will be greatly welcomed. It doesn't have to be exactly like above.
Thanks
TM

Hi Tony,
I'm new, so feel free to use my approach or not.. =)
I'd first, define three Context Attributes, Red, Yellow, Green (These will reffers to amounts).
You can even, do the sum once, using an Action. You would need to iterate over your table, accessing the Fields and counting by yourself, like:
if ("RED".equals(modelProperty))
  red++
if ("YELLOW".equals(modelProperty))
You can also use a switch case if you preffer. You will have the amount of each element in your Value Attributes at that time.
You can define another three Attributes, RedWidth, YellowWidth, GreenWidth, they will be calculated and return type string.
These calculated attributes will:
  - Access each value Node, for its color;
  - Multiply that guy for any other number you want (to increase width);
  - Return Width + px to View
In the View, declare some Images, Red, Yellow, Green colors. I think you can do a 1px image and just resize on the property in runtime. You can define the height in Web Dynpro Layout, no worries. Put them all in a line, with no spaces between each other.. it should look like a bar I think. Remember that we can't manipulate HTML / JS in Web Dynpro (not at least NW04s I think) - so, don't expect some fancy fancy stuff.. =)
Whenever you change the Node (which you put your calculated attributes in) it will update the values, and return new widths.
The second way to do this is, instead of calculating the value in an Action, calculate the value directly in the Calculated Attribute, (iterating thru the main model node, for each respective color) - It will be a bit slowly, however, less nodes are required. You can probably choose what's best for you.
The code itself shouldn't be that hard. Tell me if you need any more information on how to do the stuff.
Regards,
Daniel

  • Is there a way to restore the earlier color-coding format?

If there is a workaround to restore the earlier color-tag format, I would love to know it.
In the alternative, I've submitted the following to Apple and wanted to share it with the community also, in case there is no workaround and others would like to add their voice in addressing the issue:
The new single-dot color coding of tags in Mavericks doesn't work for me AT ALL.
I have been relying on Apple's full-width color coding for quite some time because it could help me easily discern—at a glance—different file versions, project statuses, and other workflow particulars—without having to read the filenames' text.  In other words, it's been a convenient right-brain workflow.
The key here, of course, is the idea of "easily" and "at a glance."  The new Mavericks color coding both extends and confounds my workflow—I now must do an additional visual search of any given list of files, especially because my filenames are often long (informational) and their middle section (in the column view) is likely truncated to conform to Apple's default narrow column formatting.
The purpose and point of color coding is to reduce time and complexity and aid organization.  However, the Mavericks version now requires (1) doing a visual scan of an entire column of filenames, instead of a visual "grab" of whole bands of color without any need to read the filenames, (2) locating the color dots at the ends of those column lines and making sure they correlate with the proper text (left-brain/right-brain work instead of just staying right-brain), (3) making a color comparison of extremely small fields of color (tiny dots instead of full-wide bands), and (4) implementing a visual/mental check step to ascertain that that a particular color dot is the correct one. Because of the added confusion of having to do "manual" left-to-right visual placement, it becomes necessary to add the step of expanding the filenames (column widths) to get certainty.
I'm guessing that at this early point in the Mavericks proliferation you'll likely want to dig your heels in to defend and preserve all the involved and extensive work you did to produce the update, but I strongly urge you to revisit the particular design decision mentioned here.  It makes it tougher for us out here using the program, and it works against your PR efforts:  I'm now less likely to trust your design decisions and will be much less likely to implement future updates or champion them.
If I could uninstall Mavericks and get my previous version back, just for this one item alone, I would. It's been a mainstay feature for me, and one of the things I've lauded to non-Mac users to encourage them to venture Apple.

    For Lion or Mountain Lion
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to a Mountain Lion Installer app or USB flash drive installer:
Partition and Format the hard drive
          1. Select the target volume you wish to use.
          2. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu in the menubar.
          3. In Disk Utility select the target volume from the left side list. Click on the
Partition tab in the Disk Utility main window. Set the Partition Scheme to one
              (1) from the drop down menu. Set the Format type to Mac OS Extended,
Journaled. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu. Quit the Main Menu to return to
              the installer.
Install Lion/Mountain Lion: Select install Lion or Mountain Lion and click on the Install button. .
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    For Snow Leopard or Earlier
    1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups made while on Snow Leopard, then you may do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion/Mountain Lion files.

  • Navigation and Color Coding

    Hello Guys,
I have got couple of design questions.
    1. I have a report with a view selector on it(Annual, quarter, month) that navigates to another report with the same view selector(annual quarter month) The problem I have is with the navigation landing pages.
When i changed my report to quarter view from the annual view and then navigate to the report B I still land in ANNUAL view as that is the first view of the report. Users expect to land on quarter view directly based on what they select on the report A.
So i was wondering if there is a way to control the view selector and column selector landing pages when navigation from report A to report B.
    2. This is regarding Color coding. I have three columns in my report Year, quarter, month with conditional color coding done on it(when year=09 then red, when month =jan then blue some thing like that). So now the report has both table and pivot view. The users want to see the color coding only on pivot but not on table. Is there a way to achieve that? I tried duplicating the columns and hiding in the table but hiding in the table will hide across all the views. So i am kind of stuck there as well.
    Can we control this?
    Any advice is appreciated
    thanks
    Prash

Regarding 2) don't know how feasible this is since I can't see your report, but you can try this:
    1) For the columns that you want color-coded, put two instances in your Criteria mode. Now color code one each of those "dual columns" for your pivot table.
    2) For the "Table View" build another pivot table, but design it like a table, but this time using the "uncolor-coded" columns in that pivot table and keeping the other columns in the Excluded box.

Does anyone know a way to capture the color coded text from the Reports PLSQL editor so it can be pasted into MS Word? A normal copy and paste does not copy the color and I would like the color coded text as part of the report documentation.

  • Color coding of bookmarks

Is using URL Manager Pro the only way to be able to color code bookmarks in Safari 4.0.4?
I hope Apple adds that capability to Safari in the future. Color coding of bookmarks would be extremely useful, just like the current capability to color code files in the Mac is.

    HI,
    Try Version Tracker
    or
    MacUpdate
Also, from the Safari Menu Bar click: Report Bugs to Apple
It's not a bug but you can definitey put a bug in Apple's ear

  • Changing Row color of standard SQL report

    Hi,
I am trying to follow this post to change the color of a row in APEX SQL report. Change Colour of Row - Oracle APEX SQL Report
It's a bit outdated, and trying to figure out how to get to this page: http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/4782/columntemplate.jpg in APEX 4.2 where I can conditionally set background color.
I am using theme 13 (legacy) and made a copy of the report region. Edited it but cannot find an equivalent section of that apex 3.1 screenshot.
    Any help appreciated.

    William Wallace wrote:
I sure was :) Cheers for pointing it out.
Just another question, there are 4 options for the #COLUMN_VALUE# which I have background color conditionally (just like in that screenshot) based on one of the column values. The column can be of 1..5 values, however I only have 4 conditions to work with in the template editor.
So what APEX is doing is since it can't find a 5th matching condition, it picks the very first one and applies it on it (even though the condition doesn't match).
Is there anyway I can incorporate a 5th option/condition for column templates? Cheers. Not using that technique. There are a couple of options: another template-based approach using a custom named column report template, or using jQuery. I generally prefer the template method as everything runs on the server.
    1. Start by including a column containing the condition logic to generate a class value in the report query:
    select
            , case
when sal < 1000 then 'low'
when sal between 1000 and 2000 then 'medium'
when sal > 2000 then 'high'
              end sal_class
    from
empThen create a custom named column report template:
    2. Go to: Shared Components > Templates > Create
    3. In the wizard select: Report > From Scratch
    4. Enter/select:
    Name: [Name for this template]
    Theme: [Your current theme]
    Template Class: Custom 1
Template Type: Named Column (row template)
    5. Click Create.
    6. Click the Status Report link in the Templates report.
    7. Enter the following properties:
    Row Template 1
<tr class="#SAL_CLASS#"><td>#1#</td><td>#2#</td>...include a cell with a column substitution for every column in your report...</tr>i.e. the column with the conditional logic in the query is used to apply the required class to the row.
    Before Rows
<!-- Copy the Before Rows definition from the Standard report template for your current theme and paste here -->
<tr><th>#1#</th><th>#2#</th>...include a header with a column substitution for every column in your report...</tr>
    After Rows
<!-- Copy the After Rows definition from the Standard report template for your current theme and paste here -->Add CSS to style the rows:
    8. Edit the Page CSS Attributes for the report page:
    Inline
    tr.low td { background-color: yellow; }
    tr.medium td { background-color: white; }
tr.high td { background-color: red; }9. Change the report to use the new template.
For the alternative jQuery approach, Tom created an example for this thread: +{thread:id=2487955}+

  • Label Printer -  to do color coding

I am looking for a printer, which could print labels with color coding.
Let me explain, what I am trying to acheive..
    1.  I should be able to print labels, - labels of size 4  X 6 IN, or 3 X 2 IN or any sizes of label -- >  the label is not colored, just like any normal label, with white background, and data being printed in black color..(this is what all intermec and zebra printers do.. )
    2. Label has barcodes --> linear bar codes as well as 2D Matrix barcodes... : This could be acheived by any of the Intermec printers (PM4i or 3400E ) or Zebra Printers.
    3. The label should contain a colored strip based on the content of the packing box . for eg, if it is rubber part, the label should contain a Red color strip, if plastic then yellow color, if assembly then blue and so on...  A colored bar of  rectangular shape, (1 cm width and 3 cm long ).
Does anyone know any Printers out in the market, which could do this 3 rd step ?  (obviously along with first step and second step ).
I called Intermec and Zebra - they both dont have it...
Also, Please keep in mind that, these printer should be capable of printing these labels from SAP ---> ie, we will be calling a standard text (SO10), using the write_form, and these printer should be able to print it...
Any input, even a clue, will be of much help for me.
    Thank you

From the top of my head, something like this.
    IIF([Priority]="High", "<RED>" + [Description] + "</RED>", IIF([Priority]="Medium", <YELLOW>" + [Description] + "</YELLOW>", <GREEN>" + [Description] + "</GREEN>"))
But I vaguely remember you could assign colors to fields in the Calendar, so I think I did something else.
I think I created calculated fields where only one would have text depending on the Priority.
So let's say I created 3 calculated fields and added them all three to the calendar.
Only fields that contain text will show up.
Calculated Field Description Red: IIF([Priority]="High", [Description], "")
Calculated Field Description Yellow: IIF([Priority]="Medium", [Description], "")
Calculated Field Description Green: IIF([Priority]="Low", [Description], "")
But I never worked with On Demand Calendar, so you have to check what works best for you.
You can also check: How to Configure Standard Applet "Activity HI Calendar Applet" so it Displays Icons or Different Colors to Reflect the Status of the Activities? [ID 1373880.1]
And it looks like you have more control in Siebel 8 (again, I never worked with On Demand, so you have to check yourself).

  • Palm Desktop 4.2 - Text of color coded calendar entries are hidden for some colors

    Environment:
      Treo 680
Palm Desktop 4.2 running on Windows XP Pro
Color coded calendar entries have been working great since I got my phone over a year ago.  When I added a new color category (bringing my total to 7 categories) I noticed that some of my calendar entries showed the color coded bar for the appointment, but the text for the entry was hidden.  Nor was I able to edit the entry using Palm Desktop since any attempt to select the entry tries to create a new entry.
Thinking that I had exceeded a limit for the number of color categories I deleted the new category (so the entries were now unfiled).  Now, all but one of my color categories are affected (color bar for appointment, but no text visible), including those marked with a category of "undefined".
The only color that now shows the text for calendar entries is my default category (not unfiled).  This affects all of my existing calendar entries and any new ones I create, regardless of whether I create them on the Treo or using Palm Desktop.
If I press <tab> to cycle through my appointments on the page, it selects only those for my default color cateogry where the text of the entry is visible (i.e. it skips all the other appointments).
The calendar entries are all visible on my Treo, thankfully.
I have not installed any new apps or updates.
I've not been able to find anyone else reporting this problem.
My next step will be to restore my backup from last week, but I was hoping to avoid that if possible, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

Pardon my ignorance, but where do I set categories to all?
    Tools > Categories
Whichever category I select here becomes the default category and its entries will be visible, but all other categories will be hidden.  My only other options are New, Delete, Rename and Help.
The only other configuration setting for categories that I can find is under
    Tools -> Preferences
I have the checkbox "Display color-coded categories" checked

I bought a lumia 620 just two days back.Mainly what made buy a nokia lumia 620 rather than Htc 8s is that some OEM features..which only Nokia and Sony provides, like sms,mms delivery....out going call waiting notification (may be called gsm supplimentary services).I went for Nokia cause their good audio quality. But what make me regret that what my Nokia 1202 can do,that the new sophisticated lumia cant do.Like sms status report on nokia 1202 when swicthed "on" ,and it gets the delivery report its updated the message item in the sent box with a tick mark .That what i expected from my nokia, which should change the color of the bubble on the message thread, but sadly it deosnt do that.It just give "message delivered to 0000000" in a separate thread in my inbox, where that old tiny 1202 shows "message delivered to BOB". In lumia the thing is happening is that a network code were send like " *n*h hello" . where recepient get only the "hello" and sender get a a message "message delivered to 0000000".What happened to nokia programmer ??why are they implementing something so primitive, where they used to put those sophisticated code on those simple 1202's.
