Color doesn't remember folders.....mmmm

Hi guys
Been working on this concert and Color has been remarkable...3500 edits, 90 mins broken into pieces (largest piece is now 1300 edits) Anyway...basic corrections but doing well.
Now...only thing driving me UP THE WALL is the fact that when I set folders to save grades, export JPEG's and so on, Color does not remember the last folder I was in (for Expor anyway)....for grades, it reverts to the Users directory after exiting and coming back in. Any ideas, workaround or words of wisdom.
JP? You know everything?

Is it a strength or a weakness that COORs... whoops COLOR... has this "main lobby" in which ALL the components of a grade/project are essentially available to every user/project? I agree that it would be great that those correction folders were the ones that adhered to the project and opened there, instead of reverting to the root. I create a new folder for the project for each category... Overall grades in the Setup Room, Primary In, Secondaries, Primary Out. The only things that get saved way back in the AppSupport/Library on a per-project basis are the stills and on-the-fly archive...and I've never used export jpgs so never hunted them down.
An array of folders is just a click away, and I really do like the availability of swapping grades between projects so quickly and easily. Not so with some previous grading solutions. Geez, 3500 edits on a 90 minute timeline is almost 3x normal.
Now if I could only figure out who the shooter was on the grassy knoll....

    With xfce4 I use .....mount /dev/sd(xx) /mnt/md...
    Setup .../mnt/md in /mnt with ..cd /mnt...mkdir /mnt/md
This will mount the flash drive.
I do not know automount for xfce4.

Hey guys I got a used iBook from a family friend that has it password protected.I can't update or delete programs or download anything without the passwords and he doesn't remember them.Is there any way for me to get around these without wiping the computer and starting from scratch?

    Hello,
Sadly without the system disk you can't do a lot. I would suggest you enable root user, log in as root and reset your administrators password, however you can't without knowing the administrator password first.
The only solution would be is to obtain the correct system disk or buy a retail copy of Mac OS X. But note, it depends on what version of the iBook you own depends, on what version of Mac OS X you will require.
You can still obtain the system disk or retail disks from online vendors, but they come at a cost.
System disk are grey in color, while retail disk have a big 'X' on it.
    Best of luck

  • Safari Doesn't Remember Tabs

Noticed a strange behaviour in Safari 6 on Mountain Lion.
When I close the window by clicking the red x in the top left and then re-open, Safari comes up with a blank pages, it doesn't remember any of the tabs I had open.
If however I close it by clicking quit on the Safari dock icon and then re-open, Safari opens back up with all my tabs from the last session.
This doesn't seem right, any advice?

When you quit Safari, (Mountain) Lion's Resume feature will remember what pages you had open and reopen them the next time you start Safari, because that's what the feature is supposed to do.
But when you close Safari's window—not by quitting, but by clicking the red button—(Mountain) Lion assumes that you don't want to see all those window's tabs again. (That's why you closed the window.) So it doesn't restore them when you open a new window.
You should get into the habit of quitting Safari when you want to stop using it, but might want to resume where you left off later. Really, the same goes for all other Apple apps. Closing a window tells the app and the OS, "I don't want this file/page/whatever to be open anymore." On the other hand, quitting the app tells the OS, "I don't want to use this app right now, but I might use it again later, and please reopen the same files/pages/whatever the next time."
By the way, the easiest way to quit an app is to press ⌘Q.

    2. Erase device
    3. Reactivate device

  • Since updating to 3.6.15 today, back button no longer works and FF doesn't remember URLs

Since updating to 3.6.15 today, back button no longer works and FF doesn't remember URLs. Not just that memory of previous URLs got wiped out, it still doesn't remember the ones I've typed in since I updated. And No back button, it's really hard to use.
I went thru all the settings and could not find a way to fix this problem. What is up? I've never had this happen in any version of IE, FF, or Chrome.
Can I get back previous version? Until then, it's Chrome and IE for me.
I'll be happy to delete any plug-ins if it will make this problem go away.
    THANKS in advance!

Thanks. This didn't solve te problem but it seemed to have solved itself. all of a sudden it started working properly, without me even closing FF and starting it up again. Thanks Cor-el, if it happens again I'll try your solution.

  • My MBP doesn't remember my Time Capsule wireless network when waking from sleep

My MBP (OS 10.5.8) doesn't remember my Time Capsule wireless network when waking from sleep.  Thus, every time my MBP wakes from sleep, I need to select the Airport icon in the upper menu bar, select "Join other network", enter SSID and password.  This is very cumbersome.  And, I never had this problem when I was using the ISP's provided wireless router/gateway/DSL modem. Adding the Time Capsule and using it to generate the wireless network has introduced this problem.
It appears that this problem has to do with the hidden SSID.  I don't need the lecture on how hidden SSID provides no serious security benefit.  That's why I have the WPA2 encryption.  I'm interested in a solution that will allow the Time Capsule to generate the wireless network, maintain a hidden SSID, continue to use WPA2 encryption, but have my MBP recognzie and autoconnect to this network.
    Solutions I've alread tried:
    1. Open Network Preferences
    2. Select Airport from left hand column (and ensure Airport is at top of that list)
    3.  Select Advanced
    4.  Delete all Preferred Networks.
    5.  Apply settings.
    6.  Restart computer
    7.  Return to Network Preferences and from Advanced page, manually add my network with hidden SSID and WPA2 password
This solution works fine as long as I don't take my computer elsewhere and connect to another network.  As soon as my preferred networks list gets another network, my MBP stops finding my TC network.  Since I take my laptop to a lot of places (it's a laptop, after all...) this is a problem.
As I say, prior to adding the TC on my network (and using it to generate the wireless network), my MBP had no problem keeping 50+ preferred network names/passwords in the Preferred Network list, but always automatically finding/connecting to my home network without the need to "Join other network."  Thus, I assume the problem lies with the Time Capsule.
    Any ideas?

LaPastenague, thanks for weighing in.  Didn't know that the hidden SSID capability was not IEEE standardized, and thus different devices will handle hidden SSID differently.  With my admittedly limited knowledge of how SSID/hidden SSID works, I'm still a little confused as to why my MBP would remember the generic router/gateway's hidden network, but struggle with the TC's hidden network.
To my knowledge, when an SSID is broadcast by a base station (Airport, wireless gateway, etc.), a connecting device (like a laptop, iPad, etc.) detects this broadcast--this would be a passive reception of this SSID signal.
When an SSID is hidden, the base station does not broadcast its identification.  Rather, a connecting device must transmit the name, and when the base station recognizes the broadcast, the connection is made. That's what you do when you select "Join another network" and manually enter the SSID.
The idea with OS X's Network Preferences is that these steps, whether for hidden networks or broadcast SSIDs, become automated.
Where is the potential for a different chipset between the TC and the previously used wireless router/gateway to alter this functionality?  Shouldn't the selection of an SSID by the MBP to broadcast to seek for a base station be a function solely on the MBP?  And once broadcast by the MBP, the TC should detect and reply?
Basically, the MBP can connect to the hidden TC manually just fine.  The MBP can connect to the old setup automatically just fine.  The MBP cannot connect to the TC automatically.  Aren't these automatic connection functions solely on the MBP?
I'll try un-hiding the network and re-verifying that the problem is exclusively with the hidden network.

  • Labels not working...bridge doesn't remember labels

Adobe Bridge doesn't remember labels in CS4 in two computers...both Vista?

You could look at it another way.  Make your settings and folder selection then use file/exit.
Then no matter how you close it in future, or where you are at, it will open at your default setting.
Be aware however that it is always running in the background and must be closed to install updates.

  • Color doesn't recognize movie files

Hello, I'm pretty new to FCP and I've been working on a project for about a week.
When I tried to send my sequence to Color, it seemed to load the sequence, but none of the files are recognized by Color. It looks like this:
    http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/majtki/Screenshot2010-02-06at31831AM.png
I'm not sure what the problem is, I have been trying to work this out all day. First, I thought that the files were offline because of all of them being on an external hard drive, so I tried to move all of them to the computer. Didn't work.
I tried relinking media, but Color wouldn't let me select any appropriate files, leaving them grayed out.
Could it be the files themselves? All the footage was shot with a Nikon d300s, which is supposed to shoot HD quality, 24 fps movies in NTSC. It wouldn't make sense though, since I tried opening the files separately (not in that specific sequence) in a different project and they worked just fine.
What's more interesting is that all the files seem to work fine in FCP and even when I export the Color project back to FCP, FCP recognizes all the files without any problem.
Thanks so much for your time

Looks like your camera shoots in MPEG-2 wrapped in an AVI container. You need to convert you videos to something like Pro res. Final Cut Pro doesn't support MPEG-2 video file. Yes you can import MPEG-2 files into FCP. But that doesn't mean it's supported. MPEG-2 video are a delivery format not an editing format.
Color doesn't support still or text (from FCP). Read Color's manual page 84 for supported file formats.
Here's a tutorial by Nick Holmes on how to use Mpeg-Streamclip (free) to convert MPEG-2 files for use in FCP.

  • COLOR doesn´t recognize the editing in FCP

I have a really big problem.
I have only one track in the timeline , when I export to Color and make the play. ! Surprise! , the editing is not the same .
I had trying to export the EDL o XML and put me " Media files of one or more clips are missing timecode tracks and may also be missing reel names "
Could be possible that the Color doesn´t recognize the editing by this way ???
If that is true, How can I make to find the timecode ?. I need to make the color with the color , but now is really difficult.
    Anyone can help me?
    Thanks

  • Preview doesn't remember the last page opened

I have noticed that Preview doesn't remember the last page of the PDF documents after 30 mins of usage (or opening up several PDF files). Is there any way to make Preview always remember the last page of files irrespective of time the file was last used and number of PDF files opened? I think in SL-ML era this was probably the case but since Mavericks it seems to have changed.

    Deleting "browser.download.lastDir" makes firefox unusable.
It's very annoying. I'm sick of the update to 3.6. It's getting worse with each minor update.
Hour after hour researching about this odd behavior sucks!

  • Imac clock needs to be set and bluetooth doesn't remember ethernet connection

My Imac is less than 2 years old.  Upon startup, I am getting the error message "You computer's clock is set to a date before Jan 1, 2008.  This may cause some applications to behave erratically."  It also doesn't remember which ethernet connection it had last in the bluetooth menu.  I have to choose it everytime.  What's wrong with my mac?  Is it the battery?  If so, why is this happening now when I've only owned the machine (purchased brand new) less than 2 years?  Could it be something else?

I HAD this problem with my Power Mac G5. The "before date" was different and my date and time were correct in the menu bar! The message appeared on December 16, 2011 and on January 16, 2012. Then on January 21 I pressed the button to turn the g5 on. The light came on then went out. SILENCE.  I tried again but NOTHING. I didn't do the SMU thing as I assumed it was the power supply which I had allready replaced once (in about 2007). I hope it wasn't just a battery, because I had the hard drive put in a cradle and am about to gut the G5 so I can use that beautiful case for something else! Did you ever figure it out?
