Color in Specific Area

I remember in Elements 9 I was able to convert a color photo to black and white and then with the paint brush I could go and paint in the original color on just specific areas. How is that done in PS5?

I prefer the flexibility and results of a Black & White adjustment layer, rather than a simple desaturation.
You have a color image layer.
Add a Black & White adjustment layer with a white mask.
Click on the thumbnail of the B&W layer's mask to target it.
Use the Brush Tool to paint black into the mask where you want colour to be revealed.

I "googled" and found a b/w map of US.
For illustration, I used the magnetic lasso tool to circumscribe several contiguous states
Went to Layer>new>layer via copy
Opened a Gradient fill adjustment layer above this and linked these layers
Reduced the opacity of the Gradient adjustment layer
Solid color adjustment layer works well also

The opacity of the gradient adjustment layer can be reduced further in order to make the names of the states stand out.

Selective color partial de-saturation (both specific area AND specific color)

Hi All,
I searched a little both here and Google and am now convinced this is not possible in LR. Please let me know your thoughts.
I want to select a specific area, say bottom half of the image, and then desaturate blue by 50% and aqua by 25%, without affecting any other colors at all.
Is this possible in LR? Takes 5 seconds in Photoshop, but I don't want to have to export and edit there. I experimented with the color picker under adjustment brush in LR, in hope de-saturation would only apply to the color I selected, but it doesn't seem to work like that.
There's the "HSL / Color / B&W" section, which is very useful, but it applies to the entire image. Basically I'm after HSL/Color type adjustment for a brush if such a thing exists.
Any help would be appreciated.

regarding color change with the adj brush:
If I wish to change the color of, for example, hair, I first select that hair with the adjustment brush with all settings at default. then I fully desat the selected hair. I then END that adjustment and begin a NEW adjustment and, using color picker, paint on the unsaturated hair.
There is always the problem with getting the desat step and the color change step precisely alligned, but..........
Not always great but often works.

Shots with specific area in colour with B&W Background

Hey guys,
I'm new to Premiere Pro but understand the basics.
Ive been googling my way around to finding ways to complete my film project.
One thing that bothers me and I would really like to know (and learn) is how to color in a specific area. Ive googled this and I don't believe I have found exactly what I need. I have uploaded an image of what I want on this discussion. The shots are all black and white but as you see I want to manually color in the areas that are not black and white and in this case, it's the teddy bear. Thanks for anyone who responds and please describe in step by steps. I'm also using CS4. And also, I do have many Adobe programs so if I need to after effects than that's no problem. I quickly created this picture by photoshoping the colored teddy bear and placing him in the black and white surroundings. Thanks.

Find color of specific pixels

I'm working with grayscale images and I need to find average darkness of specific regions. The areas are all perfectly circular.
I can't figure out how to determine the color of specific pixels in an image. Does anyone know of a way? I need to process millions of pixels so I would prefer something that can do this relatively quickly. The images are all grayscale, so I only really need to know the darkness of the pixel.
I don't suppose there is any built-in way of doing this that would be more efficient than my computing the average manually?

Ok, it seems that I can use a BufferedImage to acquire the colors of specific pixels. I found a couple methords that seem relavent:

The first is pretty staight forward, but I am interested in performance, and the second sounds like it could be better.
I'm not sure about the meaning of the the scansize argument:
scansize - scanline stride for the rgbArray
Am I right in thinking that rgbArray is defined that the value in the first index (after offset) is the upper left corner, the next is the pixel directly to the right of it. When the index become equal to scanline, you are now on the next row of pixels below.
This doesn't make sense to me because it would defeat the purpose of having 'w' (the width).
Now, the other question is whether using the second methord will actually improve performance...I need circular regions, so using a rectangle will waste data. Would I be better off using getRGB(int x, int y)? How about creating a subclass of BufferedImage designed to extract the colors in a circular manner. Actually, is using a BufferedImage the best approach even?

In our experience currentTime is a settable property for the native video player in mobile Safari, using a normal progressive uploaded stream, as the documentation shows:

To color a specific row in a Table UI element

We have a requirement to highlight (with distinguish color) a specific row of a table UI based on column data.
Suppose we have a table with 5 column and 10 row, now if the data on 5th column greater than some XYZ value then we need to highlight the specific row with a different color.

In your outline, I am missing quite a few prerequisites which I mentioned (not sure if you have implemented them already)
your sub node, does it have singleton=false, cardinality 1..1 and selection cardinality 1..1?
The attribute of type TableCellDesign in that sub node, does it have the calculated property to true?
If you've bound each table column's cellDesign property to this calculated attribute, you just put some code in the generated generated get<SubNode><CalcAttribute> method to set the color
For instance by just entering the line
return WDTableCellDesign.CRITICALVALUE_LIGHT
in that method will render each linked cell to that color
Not sure what else I can say to explain this, there's not much to code...

How to mask out specific area in a specific time?

I want to make a mask on a specific area of the footage in a specific time. I drew the mask and all the frame went black,so I clicked on Mask-> invert and only the specific area I masked went black,which is exactly what I wanted.
Now I want to make it happen in a specific time, not on all timeline, but I can't find a way to do it. I thought about lowering down the mask opacity to 0% and a frame later bringing it to 100%, but if I lower down the opacity of the mask, it lowers down the opacity of the whole frame, same as
lowering down the opacity of the frame by intention, which seems weird, cause I did inverted the mask, and as I understand it, it should affect the opacity of the mask and not the whole frame...
any ideas...?

Improving the handling of multiple line text fields is in our plans, but for now, you will have to add manual carriage returns (Enter).

i was hoping to use an HTML snippet to accomplish this on iWeb. i've spent several hours on google, and this forum too but found NOBODY addressing this:
i need to create a hyperlink from MY website to an external url. the external page needs to open at a very specific area on the page. i see that this is done on hand-coded websites.
most iWeb discussions were about hyperlinking to lower down on the same page or within the same website where 'anchors' can be used. obviously that can't be done when linking to an external website.

Creating links to specific area in a PDF

I want to create a link to go to a specific text area in my one-page PDF... not allowing anything outside of this specified area to be filled unless you click on this link. Does anyone know how to do this?

Creating a link to a specific area is very easy. Make a button and set its action to "Go to page view", then go to the area (you can even set the zoom level you want) and set the link.
Preventing the user from leaving that area is not possible.

Full screen images aren't loading and full screen color background boxes are cropping horizontally. I'm forced to make my images a full screen slide show (of 1 image) to make it work, but then I lose the option to pin the image. Am I alone in this?
