Color permissions boondoggle....

Hey gang,
Long time listener, first time caller. We had a massive problem with color today. Our operator was working on a project from a couple of days ago. Project opened fine, allowed him to make changes save the project, even save archives. The operator shutdown color over lunch because someone else needed to use the workstation quickly to do something. When he came back and re-opened the project, it was in exactly the same state as it was first thing this morning.
Checking out the files in the colorproj package confirms that the last file write was yesterday and that no new archives were created. Seems that sometime between yesterday and today, the colorproj package got set to read only, how - nobody knows (color may have done it itself?). Setting it back to read & write allowed us to save again. No one else had been anywhere near the files in that time.
But here is the annoying thing: Color had been appearing to save. It returned no error whatsoever. Checking the console shows that TAR was throwing an error when he tried to create archives, but there was nothing being shown to the operator to let him know that his hard work wasn't being saved.
I should add that the project was pretty large (a tv half hour) so saving actually took several seconds and seemed kosher from that front.
I been able to recreate the error (minus the random loss of write privileges) by setting a project I was working as read only and I got the same result. The appearance of saving without the actual saving. This is a major major fubar for us. Client is well p*ssed.
Anyone had this experience before? Any idea how to stop it happening again? It's a massive pain to have to keep checking that the file is actually saving. Color by rights should be throwing errors for this! Are you listening Apple?
On the plus side, it's a good argument for me to push upgrading from tiger to leopard.
I've posted this on the creativecow.net forums as well. Thanks in advance for your time...

I've seen something similar happen in FCP. FCP returns an error, but if I remember correctly the error message isn't very insistent that something is wrong and I've known people (me) who ignore it until they go to quit out of the app and discover they won't be able to save anything.
In the Color app use the "Send Feedback" command for a more direct line to the ProApps team. Be sure to include a step by step of how to reproduce the problem.

  • Dreamweaver Error- code problem

Hello, I built a website for a salon and now I am working on SEO. I also added google analytics and now I am getting an error code in dreamweaver when I save the template. When I save the template it updates the pages but afterwords it gives me this error, “There is an error at line 11, column 29 (absolute position 1268) of “C:\Users\Meegan\Documents\Center Stage\ htmlindext.html” Unbalanced InstanceEndEditable tag.” I am not sure what it is telling me here. Here is the link to the site www.centerstagesalon.net. Underneith the title in the code, I put the keywords and description (fallowing a tutorials instructions).
This is what that code looks like:
Just before the end head tag, I put the code for google analytics.
    Here is that code.
I assume that the issue has more to do with the keywords and description that I put in the code because line 11 is just bellow that, but I wanted to provide you with as much information as I could so hopefully someone can help me get this resolved. I added keywords, a description and the google analytics code to each page. Bellow is the code for the index page as an example.
    Index Page Code:
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
    Meegan

Help!!  I'm new to Apple but have loads of PC experience...

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP printing & scanning problems

Ever since I purchased this multifunction color printer, it has been unreliable. My Mac Mini running the latest OS (currently Mavericks OX 10.9.2) will be printing and scanning fine, and then at some point it can't find the scanner, the printing slows to an amazing crawl, and then the printing stops altogether. I have repeatedly attempted to set up the printer under Preferences and have installed the latest drivers from the HP website. When that works, it's a short-term fix; eventually, the bugs come back. The darn thing won't scan or print again, and I'm pretty fed up. I paid a premium price for a premium color multifunction printer for my home, and it has been nothing but a problem. Help!

    Hello StoopBoy,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.
I see that you have an HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP being operated on a Mac 10.9.2. The CM1415fnw will not maintain a continual connection to the computer displaying errors and very slow printing. Since you have done a great job already troubleshooting the issue some of the steps I suggest will have already been done by yourself.
I suggest you take these steps to help resolve the issue:
    1. Reset the Printing Systems by following this Apple Document: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system.
    2. Uninstall the HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP with this HP document: Uninstall HP printer software.
    3. Repair disk permissions on the Mac.
    4. Check for and install any and all updates on the Mac.
    5. Downlaod and Install the printer HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP software.
I hope this helps and will allow you to have more continual functionality with your Laserjet.
    Thanks,
    JERENDS

  • Hp Color Laserjet pro M177fw won't print double sided anymore

Hello.   I have a Hp Color Laserjet pro M177fw until about three weeks ago it would print double sided no problems.  I have used this printer on my pc and now my mac with no problems previously.  I am running a Macbook Pro (less then six months old) which is running 10.10.1 (Yosemite).  I attend college and I know at the end of last quarter during finals week (Dec. 15th) I still had the ability to do 2 sided printing.  Sometime between then and the new quarter starting last monday I lost the ability to do 2 sided printing.  After scouring the internet I have tried everything they suggest:
    Uninstalling printer and reinstalling
resetting the printer setting on the mac and then reinstalling printer
resetting the printer settings on mac, rebooting and then reinstalling printer
installing older drivers( hp automatically installs newest drivers even if you use an older driver file)
resetting physical printer to factory default and reconnecting to wireless network.
    repairing the disk permissions
The only new software I have installed on the computer in the last three weeks is Adobe Creative Cloud and the printing problem preexisted that installation.

    Hi @Arboria9 ,
I see that you are experiencing issues printing two-sided from Yosemite. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
You have pretty much have done all the steps that I would have provided.
Are you still able to print two-sided from the Windows computer?
Are you missing the option to select two-sided printing in the print driver?
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name. (Officejet 6500)
If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
How was the printer name listed?
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a great day!
    Thank You.

  • Hp color laserjet pro mfp m177fw (Cant open SCANNER on computer)

    Hi there,
I am using a desktop 27 inch Mac with OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
When I go to system preferences and click on printers/scanners I can see my mfp m177fw laserjet printer (wirelessly connected fine). But unlike on my Macbook Pro laptop on my desktop there is no SCANNER option to open up?  Thus I am unable to scan from the printer to this desktop. I have the latest HP driver installed on the desktop computer for my m177fw printer.
Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated
    thanks!
    Simon

    Hello @Simonjayh,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the scan issue that you're experiencing since installing your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw on your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. Can I please have you run through the steps below to get this product functioning properly again for you.
    Step 1: Uninstall Drivers:
First, can I please have you click here and run through the steps provided to Reset the Print System on your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. Please refer to the section under 'Resetting the printing system in OS X Lion' as the steps are the same for your Mac OS X 10.10 Operating System. Resetting the Print System will remove every printer from your Print & Scan window on your computer. However, this does not uninstall the devices. Therefore, should you use other printers on your Mac OS X 10.10 computer simply ensure that they are plugged in with a USB Cable or Network connected and add (+) them back in. Do not add your HP Laserjet printer back in at this time.
Next, please click here to access the steps on how to properly uninstall the Software and Driver Package for your printer. Once the website opens select the dropdown for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' as the steps are the same for your Mac OS X 10.10 Operating System. Once the uninstall has completed successfully, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 3: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
Step 4: Reinstall your Software and Drivers:
Lastly, please click here to download the appropriate Mac OS X 10.10 Full Feature Software and Driver package for you printer. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left. Once the Download is complete please follow the onscreen steps to reinstall you printer.
Once your printer has been successfully reinstalled, please test the HP Scan functions again. For additional scan information, you may want to refer to : Scanning with the Full Feature HP Software in OS X v10.10 Yosemite
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Scanner icon lost HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M177fw

HP Model:  HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M177fw
After "updating" drivers on my IMac my Scanner disappeared and I have not been able to Scan for over a month.  I just started a new business and this is debilitating!  Can anyone shed any light on this? I do have Yosemite and will unintall it to get my Scanner back if that's what it takes.  However, HP should "fix" this issue immediately; afterall, I spent close to $400 on this JetPrinter and am willing to return it.

    Hi @BertieBaby ,
I see that you are having issues with scanning after updating drivers on the Mac. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Did you download and install the Full Feature Software when you first setup the printer?
If you didn't, please download and install them from this link. HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M176/M177 Series Software.
If you already have the Full Feature Software installed, try the following steps:
Repair the Disk Permissions on the Mac:
    Close all applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, click Applications and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left.
Click Verify and then Repair Disk Permissions.
    Restart the computer..
    Reset the Printing System:
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Click the Apple icon and then click System Preferences.
    Click Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system.
Then click the + sign to add the driver, highlight the printer. (you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name-LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M177fw Bonjour) Then click on the Add button.
    Test the printing and scanning.
If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.
    Have a nice weekend!
    Thank You.

  • HP Envy 5530 not printing in color

    Hello,
I have reinstalled the printer drivers.  I have cleaned the printer heads.  Both ink cartridges are full.  However, every time I try to print something from the internet, the preview comes up in black and white.  When I export the image to a pdf in the program, Preview, the printout comes out in Black and White even though the image is color.
I am at my wits end with this.  I have even tried different browsers.
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Jeff

Hi @StudioLily , and welcome to the HP Forums.
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.
Good luck and please let me know how it goes!

I have an iMac. , mid 2007.  Frequently, when I take an action, the little color wheel starts spinning and goes on for quite awhile.  Save a file, close a file, open a file, open a window, it's all random.  Somtimes it stalls, sometimes it doesn't.  Sometimes long, sometims short.  Why is this happening?

Consider adding more memory. Be sure you have adequate free space on the hard drive - 15 GBs or 10% of the drive's capacity, whichever is greater. Do not run too many applications concurrently. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on resolving the SBBOD.
    Do some maintenance:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility.  For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. Drive Genius provides additional tools not found in Disk Warrior.  Versions 1.5.1 and later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger.  These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or Lion and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems. For more about malware see Macintosh Virus Guide.
I would also recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX 2.4.3, or Cocktail 5.1.1 that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. There is no confirmation that this version also works with Lion.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    SuperDuper!
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.
Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity as free space.

  • How do I set the FireFox browser to be compatible with my Brother MFC-8840D printer so it will translate color into grayscale when printing from a webpage?

Hi, I have a question about setting the FireFox browser so it is compatible with my Brother MFC-8840D printer to print in grayscale. Currently, if I print anything in color, like a Google Map, the colored parts of the map show up blank, whereas the color should change to grayscale in a black/white laser printer. Brother tech support told me to contact Mozilla about this issue.
In comparison, when I print a Google Map on my dad's HP printer (also using FireFox browser), the color map prints perfectly in grayscale, so I can see all of the street lines.

  • How do I change an image border color to another color - Dreamweaver CS5?

    Good day,
I have just learned how to add a border to an image with Dreamweaver CS5 within the Properties Inspector.
After typing the width in pixels in the Border Text Field and pressing the Enter key, Dreamweaver created a black border.
How do I change the image border color to another color?

I added your suggested rule to the Style Sheet "in any order" as you explained. See the image below.
However this did not change the image border from black to light blue. In fact, nothing changed.
Nothing changed because the CSS that has been written into DW is incorrectly written.
You want the following (exactly as written below)
    img {border: 4px solid #0062C8;}
You've inadvertently wrapped the rule inside a #main_image container rendering it meaningless.
It's easiest to go into Code View and change
    #main_image {
         img {border: 4px solid #0062C8;
    to
    img { border: 4px solid #0062C8; }
The Property Inspector added a border exactly as I wanted it, other than the color I wanted the border to be. What is the use of this function in Property Inspector if it can add a border within Property Inspector but not let me change the COLOR of the black border that Property Inspector added, to another color?
That's a deceptively simple, yet valid, question with a long answer.
Back in the dark old days of web design web designers were restricted to inline HTML formatting which offered  border properties but no colors.
CSS styling offers colors and more but has to be written differently.
These days. it's best to avoid HTML formatting. Unfortunately border="4px" in the PI still allows it. But does not permit color.
Does anyone else out there ever add color borders to their IMAGES (not the containing box for the image) ?
    Yes, using CSS.

  • I can't change a shape or a text box fill color

    Hello community,
I used to change the colors of my shapes and text boxes, but suddenly I can't do it anymore. I restarted my Mac 'cause it appeared to be something about the memory... but unsuccessfully...
This is how I do: I select my shape, then go to the Graphic window, select Color Fill (then a white or a grey appears into my shape), and I double-click at the color menu to change it, but the shape remains the same (white or grey). I can choice between fill and no fill, but not change the color!
Does it happened with anybody yet?
    Thanks a lot,
    Dea.

Try quitting iWeb, deleting the preference file - Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist,
restarting your Mac and running Disk Utility to repair permissions.
Deleting the .plist fixes a lot of things but I rarely have to do it as I restart a lot and run Disk Utility at least once a week.

  • [SOLVED] urxvt colors and moc theme

    Hello!
I am a KDE user and usually i am using Konsole. For some applications (like htop and moc) i use urxvt (patched version from AUR). The problem is in colors. When i launch moc in Konsole the theme colours are right but not in urxvt too. That happens with htop also. URxvt doesn't follow theme backrground color (uses its own) and foreground colors too.
    Here is my .Xresource file:

    Moc config file:
    # This is a configuration file for the MOC player. It should be named
    # 'config' and placed in the ~/.moc directory. As this file can specify
    # commands which invoke other applications, MOC will refuse to start if it
    # is not owned by either root or the current user, or if it is writable by
    # anyone other than its owner. All options are given with their default
    # values, and therefore commented.
    # Comments begin with '#'.
    # You can use quotes and escape ('\') in parameters.
    # You can have variable values substituted by enclosing the variable name
    # as "${...}". (This only applies to the portion of the option following
    # the ' ='.) Variables are substituted first from the environment then,
    # if not found, from the configuration options. (Note that the value of
    # a configuration option substituted is that which it has at the time the
    # substitution variable is encountered.) If there is a naming conflict
    # between an environment and configuration variable, you may be able to
    # resolve it by using lowercase as the environment variable matches are
    # case-sensitive whereas the configuration variables are not.
    # You can also use the form "${...:-...}" where the value in the second
    # position will be substituted if the variable name given in the first
    # position is unset or null.
    # So, for example:
    # MusicDir = /music/${USER:-public}
    # Fastdir1 = ${MusicDir}/mp3/rock
    # Fastdir2 = ${MusicDir}/mp3/electronic
    # Fastdir3 = ${MusicDir}/mp3/rap
    # Fastdir4 = ${MusicDir}/mp3/etc
    # Variable names are limited to those accepted by the BASH shell; that
    # is, those comprising the upper- and lowercase ASCII characters, digits
    # and the underscore.
    # If you need to use the "${" sequence for any other purpose, write "$${"
    # and it will be replaced by "${" and not treated as a substitution.
    # Some options take lists of strings as their values. The strings are
    # separated by colons. Additional strings can be appended to the list
    # using "+ =" in place of a plain "=" to assign the value. For an example,
    # see the XTerms option.
    # You can override any configuration option when you run MOC using the
    # '-O' command line option:
    # mocp -O AutoNext =no -O messagelingertime=1 -O XTerms+=xxt:xwt
    # This command line option can be repeated as many times as needed and
    # the configuration option name is not case sensitive. (Note that MOC
    # does not perform variable substitution on the value of such overridden
    # configuration options.) Most option values are set before the
    # configuration file is processed (which allows the new values to be
    # picked up by substitutions), however list-valued options are overridden
    # afterwards (which gives the choice of whether the configured values are
    # replaced or added to).
    # Remember that the client and server are separate processes and the
    # server will retain the configuration values formed from the environment
    # within which it was originally started.

    # PreferredDecoders allows you to specify which decoder should be used
    # for any given audio format. It is a colon-separated list in which
    # each entry is of the general form 'code(decoders)', where 'code'
    # identifies the audio format and 'decoders' is a comma-separated list
    # of decoders in order of preference.
    # The audio format identifier may be either a filename extension or a
    # MIME media type. If the latter, the format is 'type/subtype' (e.g.,
    # 'audio/flac'). Because different systems may give different MIME
    # media types, any 'x-' prefix of the subtype is ignored both here and
    # in the actual file MIME type (so all combinations of 'audio/flac' and
    # 'audio/x-flac' match each other).
    # For Internet streams the matching is done on MIME media type and on
    # actual content. For files the matches are made on MIME media type
    # (if the 'UseMimeMagic' option is set) and on filename extension. The
    # MIME media type of a file is not determined until the first entry for
    # MIME is encountered in the list.
    # The matching is done in the order of appearance in the list with any
    # entries added from the command line being matched before those listed
    # here. Therefore, if you place all filename extension entries before
    # all MIME entries you will speed up MOC's processing of directories
    # (which could be significant for remote file systems).
    # The decoder list may be empty, in which case no decoders will be used
    # for files (and files with that audio format ignored) while Internet
    # streams will be assessed on the actual content. Any decoder position
    # may contain an asterisk, in which case any decoder not otherwise listed
    # which can handle the audio format will be used. It is not an error to
    # list the same decoder twice, but neither does it make sense to do so.
    # If you have a mix of audio and non-audio files in your directories, you
    # may wish to include entries at top of the list which ignore non-audio
    # files by extension.
    # In summary, the PreferredDecoders option provides fine control over the
    # type of matching which is performed (filename extension, MIME media
    # type and streamed media content) and which decoder(s) (if any) are used
    # based on the option's list entries and their ordering.
    # Examples: aac(aac, ffmpeg) first try FAAD2 for AACs then FFmpeg
    # mp3() ignore MP3 files
    # wav(*,sndfile) use sndfile for WAV as a last resort
    # ogg(vorbis,*):flac(flac,*) try Xiph decoders first
    # ogg():audio/ogg() ignore OGG files, and
    # force Internet selection by content
    # gz():html() ignore some non-audio files
    # Any unspecified audio formats default to trying all decoders.
    # Any unknown (or misspelt) drivers are ignored.
    # All names are case insensitive.
    # The default setting reflects the historical situation modified by
    # the experience of users.
    #PreferredDecoders = aac(aac,ffmpeg):m4a(ffmpeg)

    #PreferredDecoders += audio/aac(aac):audio/aacp(aac):audio/m4a(ffmpeg)

    # The following PreferredDecoders attempt to handle the ambiguity surrounding
    # container types such as OGG for files. The first two entries will force
    # a local file to the correct decoder (assuming the .ogg file contains Vorbis
    # audio), while the MIME media types will cause Internet audio streams to
    # be assessed on content (which may be either Vorbis or Speex).
    #PreferredDecoders += ogg(vorbis,ffmpeg):oga(vorbis,ffmpeg):ogv(ffmpeg)
    #PreferredDecoders += opus(opus,ffmpeg)
    #PreferredDecoders += spx(speex)

3d3d3d is for red but you have a blackish and color2 is for green but you have it white the rest should be the default colors. it uses the same colors only it changes the vairiant of the color you choice there or normally moc uses colors such as green blue and such which will call your console colors for those respective fields I know moc has /user/share/moc/themes/ that you can edit or make your own for instance copy one and edit it. I think htop uses the same color count which is 8 but with so green will be white when you use urxvt. 8 for normal colors 16 for bright dark and urxvt is 256 which is 16 but can use any of the 256 colors for 16.
just to clarify you have commented out your colors 4-15 and your green and red is weird, and htop aswell as moc is 8 bit. moc theme_yellow_red is default for background so it will use urxvts background
Haahaha, that is simple. And it works!!!
I didn't bother with commenting that because i thought they are not applied. Anyway, thanks man. My urxvt terminal si grateful to you and your thorough explanation. SOLVED!

  • OS 10.5 color-wheeling for 10 seconds at a time randomly.

Hello, I'm running a gma950 core 2 duo macbook with 2GB ram. Even as I type this, every app, the dock... everything, will freeze for 6-12 seconds and color-wheel. At such a time, only the mouse and hotcorners work. I can apple-tab through programs but all are non-responsive. These freeze periods seem to come in waves... with about 4 seconds of downtime between each freeze, and 8+ freezes at a time. I have restarted my computer several times, and am wondering how to diagnose and fix this. Could it be a problem with hardware such as my drive? Would erasing my hard drive and installing 10.6 fix it? Nothing too important on here (not that it's unable to be used anyway) but it's obviously annoying. This is the only computer I have available. Thanks.

No, repairing permissions isn't necessary nor does it fix anything. Perhaps you need to reduce the number of applications you have open concurrently. You have the bare minimum of free space on your hard drive. You could replace it with a larger, faster drive.
Did you check out the site reference I provided?
Meanwhile you can do some maintenance:
Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation. TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible; Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided. Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defrags files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc. Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Leopard Cache Cleaner, CockTail, and Xupport, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard.
    Backuplist
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    iBackup
    JaBack
    Silver Keeper
    MimMac

    Super Flexible File Synchronizer
    ynchronizer
    SuperDuper!
    Synchronize Pro! X
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
