Colors in News Browser

Hi
I have an KM-navigation iView which is using the lauout set for News Browser. I have further diferent XML-Forms which again have a unique color. The meaning is to display the xml fomrms with diferent colors in the same iView.
But when I have set a color for each of the xml forms, only one color is shown for the whole iView.
Another way around is to have an own xml form for each color variant where the labels have a background color - but I have not found the properties to set this - only text color

Hi Kay-Arne,
In the XMLFB, the form itself has properties.
One of these is style. Here you might try using
a "UR" style to get yout colors. Apart from the
options "border" "no border" "background color" etc,
you can enter the name of a style class. The trick
is picking a good one. We do not recommend using styles
directly, but it is possible. Style class name can,
and do (e.g., Ep5 ->EP6), change. They may also be
theme dependent. The HTML Editor can generate style-based
background colors. I suggest you create an HTML file
with that and look a the source to identify the style
classes used.
Like I said, though, use of styles directly is not
guaranteed for all future releases.
An example of a style class is "urSTSelRo"

Want To Have Flash Project Open In New Browser Window

Hi,
My project outputs and plays perfect to Flash (let default to
Flash 7) but when viewing it (via a link from a web page) it opens
in a "next" window and at the end, if you use the X (EXIT) button
from the player control bar it wants to close the browser window
and does not take you back to the webpage (where I have the link to
play). I cannot seem to find an option in the Preferences or during
output to make the player open in a "new" browser window. Is it
possible there is a browser setting for this instead of setting in
Captivate? (IE 6 or 7) Thanks for any help/suggestions!

Hi leh1, and welcome to the User Community for Captivate!
The window in which any content plays is determined by the
code contained for the link,
in the web-page from which it is launched. In a nutshell,
you add these parameters to the link when it is created in the
"Parent" window.
Below is a snippet from a Menu Builder project in which the
links to "Project1" and "Project2" are set to open in a "New"
window, without chrome (note the many "
=no" following an equal sign), at a size of 720 pixels by
540 pixels ... the snip below shows a link to "Project1.htm", a
document containing a Captivate movie. I have bolded the specific
entries that control the type window ("OpenCustomLink") and the
size of that window ("width=720,height=540"):

All of which is to say, the target window is controlled from
the link in the parent document. I wouldn't suggest you just
copy-paste the above code, as I took liberties with it. I
would suggest that you can do this yourself with your own
HTML editor (Dreamweaver, etc.), or even better, get your local
web-guru to do it for you.

Help with image placement in new browser window.

I need help trying to position images that are being opened
in a new browser window. I have created a photo gallery with
thumbnails that are links to the larger image. Ive used the
behaviors panel to open the new image in a new browser window but
the image is always shown at the top left margins of the new
window. Is there a way to 1. center the image in the new window, 2.
change the background color of the new window that opens.
Any help would be appreciated.

If, as I read it, you are simply opening the image, it will
always be upper
left and cannot be changed. IF you wnat to position it, you
will need to
create a new html page and position your image on that page,
then call the
page, not the image from your thumbnail link.
In Dreamweaver in the command menu try the "Create Web Photo
Album" command.
It will create all of your pages, links and thumbnails for
you. (requires
Fireworks)

How to make a linked report to be shown in a new browser window

I created two portal reports and a dynamic link between them. By
clicking on
the linked column of the report A (master list), I successfully
got to the
report B (detail report). The problem I have is that the report
B is shown on
the same browser window as the report A. I am wondering if there
is a way that
I can open the report B in a new browser window.

When I use an oracle link from 1 report to another, portal adds 47 spaces after the link. When processed in a browser it displays as 47 %20's right after the binded variable.
Using the concatenation method worked in that it opened in a new broswer window and binded the variable correctly, but returned no rows.
I manually appended 47 %20's in the address bar and it returned all the data correctly.

For testing purposes I added 47 %20's to the sql code, hoping it would add them to the link. It did, but with many more %20's in addition so didn't work.

I got it to work by adding just a '%' after the variable name. Here is the code that seems to work for me.

Link which should open up on a new browser

Hi,
I need to create a link on a self service page through OA frame work. My requirement is that when the user clicks on the link the new page should open up into a new browser. The link is embedded in a tip on the message. The tip is actually a AOL message.
It should look like this...
Tip: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.Click HERE to view.
HERE should be the link to the new page.
When I try to incorporate the blank or new tags in the html tags in the messgae itself and call it in JDEV...in the TIP...new page opens up in the same window.
Have tried creating a LINK ITEM. But Placing the link ITEM on the page seems difficult. Are their attributes which control the placing, Fond, color of such LINK ITEMS?

I recently downloaded Mozilla Firefox as my new browser

I used to have Internet explorer 8, when I did this, It changes my dreamweaver index files, Each file used to have a chrome icon next to it, now they are nolonger have chrome icons they have the fox icon. what's worse, when I viewed them, the css was gone (no layout, color, or images) just text. I want to use MOzillla, how do I get all my work back?

You're referring to the icon changing in Windows Explorer, right? (not in Dreamweaver)
Your operating system (Windows XP, Vista, 7?) will always display the icon for the default software associated with a given file.
If you switch default browser then the icon for the new browser (Firefox) will appear next to all your HTML files.
Switching browsers browsers will not, however, affect your work or make your CSS disappear.
Something else is happening on your system which we cannot guess unless you tell us more or upload a typical problem page and post a link so we can see it.

I wanted to have a h:commandlink (or commandbutton) to allow the user to open a new browser with a specified url. The value of the url is in the backing bean.

Open discoverer report in new browser window and without connections page

We are using Oracle 11g Discoverer 11.1.1.4. Requirement is to open the discoverer report in a new browser window and without connections page.
When we are running discoverer reports with this parameters we unwantedly get the connections page of the discoverer plus which we don't want.
Went through the documentation given in this page and followed it still the issue persists, and i see couple of threads with my issue and no updates.

Opening New Browser window for click event on an image

hi all,
I want someone to help me out solving the problem of opening
a new browser window on the mouse click event of an image or a
button etc.... The new window would contain the datagrid details
from the main window, but in an expanded form. If at all there is a
solution, I even want to know whether there is anyway for sizing
the poped up window,because I dont want the new poped up window to
cover the entire screen.
For getting better idea of my problem, the best example I
could give is the popup window that appears when we click on the
preview button while posting the message to the forum.
Someone please do help me out in this regard.

I'd definitely try to use a Flex popup... but the
flash.net.navigateToURL method is a simple way to open a popup
window in a new browser. You can pass any data needed by the new
page using the URLRequest and/or URLVariables. The URL you navigate
to could, of course, be another Flex application if necessary. I
use this only when I need to open a popup window on another site,
or an HTML formatter report or something similar.
Concerning yourself with the size of the popup window may be
a bad design choice also. I, for example, have my browser
configured to open all popups in a new tab regardless of sizing
constraints imposed by the designer. If it is absolutely necessary
for you to have control over the size of your popup window, you
should follow the advice given by others and use a Flex
popup.

ADF RichTextEditor opening links in new browser - how to do it?

Hi, If I add a link in ADF RichTextEditor, how do I make it open in a new browser window when clicked on it? Essentially, I want RichTextEditor to insert "target=_blank" attribute in the achor element rendered.
Of course, I can ask the user to go to source mode and do it themselves, however, I was hoping that in the WYSIWYG mode, RichTextEditor would give me the options for specifying the target.
Is this possible?
BTW, I dont want to process the value of the RichTextEditor at the backend and insert the target programmatically.

Command to open a PDF generated Oracle Report in New browser window

I know this is probably something for the Oracle Forums but I'll ask anyway because I can't find any info out there on this, without some extra work.
I am generating a PDF file from 10g Oracle reports on Linux RHEL 5 and storing the PDF file to the server. I can send that PDF file directly to a printer with the "lpr" command and that part works fine.
What I'm wanting to do now is "View" the PDF from within the server in a new window. We are using RHEL 5 (Linux) platform and I'm trying to see if there is a way to open the file with a "command line" command that will open it in a new browser window or new window period (opening it with Adobe Acrobat).
Does anyone have a command that will do this? Otherwise, how has everyone else been handling this. The idea of just viewing the previously generated PDF Report file will save us overhead on our database servers because they won't have to re-run some of the same reports over and over.
Any help and assistance is appreciated.

Several options:
- If you only want to show the pdf to the client without printing, use destype=cache and use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT after the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT (for examples search the forms-forum, there are lots)
-If you have to generate the pdf to a file to get it printed, you could
+use WEBUTIL_FILETRANSFER.AS_TO_CLIENT after the printing to transfer the file to the client, then use CLIENT_HOST to view it.
+map the appserver-directory you generate the report to as a virtual directory in the application-server then use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT to directly access the generated file via url.

Open URL Link in new browser window

Can someone please help me? I've tried to use code as if I were using Dreamweaver without any luck(i.e. blank target).
Is there a way to make the url in the PDF open a new browser windows once clicked? Hopefully this is an easy fix! Thanks in advance!

Jono, if you are still out there. I am also having trouble with this function. The button works just fine, but it does not open another browser window. I am trying to keep my pdf open, and send them to a url. That way they can come back to the form. Like you would with the target="_blank" function in javascript.
What am i doing wrong? I have tried opening the script editor, but I am not sure what to do there. So I put the same as you did on your form, no effect. I put target="_blank" and set it to javascript on just about every option. I have tried to go into the code on the xml source tab, no luck anywhere. I have tried to just use a text field, no luck.
Seems like everything I have tried has no effect.
Hopefully you can tell me it is something simple...
