Column Problem

Hi. I'm having a problem inserting a column on my page.
Basically, I have my resume which is all in a single column, but towards the end, I want to include a section of "computer skills" that is in 2-column format (so it doesn't run very long down the page.
I insert the layout break before that 2-column section, highlight it, and make it into 2 columns. The problem is, it's putting about 4 lines of blank space before that column. If I try to delete that blank space, it removes my layout break and makes the entire resume in 2 columns.
Am I doing something wrong here? Any help would be greatly appreciate.

It's possible that you have "Prevent widow & orphan lines" checked in the More tab of the text inspector & this is "pushing" some text to the next line making the columns/pages uneven. This is checked by default & will not allow less than two lines of a paragraph to be on different pages or columns. There are a couple of things I do to "manage" this & still leave the widow & orphan control on. I will either decrease the point spacing after a paragraph by one point for one or more paragraphs or decrease the line spacing to 0.9. Both of these are done in the Text tab of the text inspector.

  • Column Problems Between Explorer and Firefox

    First, I apologize if this is something that has been posted.
    The search function doesn't seem to be working, so I've been unable
    to check for previous posts on-point.
    I am having trouble with the columns in a table layout on a
    site I am designing. It's located at
    www.staggsmarketing.com/fleishell.html. The columns render properly
    in firefox, but not at all so in Explorer. If you view the Explorer
    version, the problem is quite obvious, so I won't explain further.
    If anyone can take a look at the site and suggest what I've
    done wrong, I would appreciate it. It was designed in CS3, and I've
    run all the standard dreamweaver tests (from the results tab) to no
    avail.
    Thanks in advance!

    Walt's suggestion was right on target. Using DW with no
    knowledge of HTML
    will always produce sub-optimal results.

    You are in blind alleys you do not yet know about. This
    philosophy is
    short-changing you AND your paying customers.

    I don't. It will be a continual frustration for them,
    especially if they
    want to rise above the 'hobby' level.

  • Comp. Primary key class-field mapping to DB columns problem.(EJB 2.0 CMP)

    Hi!
    I have deal with EJB 2.0 CMP bean.
    I have a composite PK so use the java class to store it. And there is a corresponding field in the Entity Bean with its primary key class type.
    The problem is: when deployment tool creates sql query for the findByPrimaryKey(PKClass ck)
    where ck is an object with 3 fielde : a_id, b_id, c_id.
    it says:
    <sql>SELECT "ck" FROM "MyTable" WHERE "ck" = ? </sql>
    And it means by the "ck" simple a column in DB but NOT the composite key which has to be splited into 3 different fields. So the container can't do the proper mapping.
    Does anyone know solutions?

    I was wrong about primary key class fields, take a look at Ejb2.0 Specification (10.8.2):
    The primary key class must be public, and must have a public constructor with no parameters.
    All fields in the primary key class must be declared as public.
    The names of the fields in the primary key class must be a subset of the names of the container-managed
    fields. (This allows the container to extract the primary key fields from an instances container-managed
    fields, and vice versa.)
    Right now I'm using BMP and I don't have this problems. Primary keys, calculated fields and types not supported by the DB can be easily achieved. But I understand your interest on CMP, is clearly evolving!

  • Span columns problem with Table of Contents order

    Hello,
    I'm having a strange issue with headings that span columns and Table of contents order. My document has a heading paragraph in a coloured box, which is then inserted in-line into a 2-column text box. The paragraph style for the box (set to in-line) is set to span all columns, so that the 2-columned text doesn't get messed up.
    When I create a table of contents, the Heading style that is inside the coloured box is being picked up fine, but even though it is inserted before the headings below it, it is showing up after the level 2 headings, instead of before.
    I have confirmed that the insertion of the blue bar is before the text below it, as when I remove the span columns option, the TOC works as it is supposed to. Is this a bug?

    Hi there, thanks for the reply.
    The only way I could move the inline box to the left was to make a custom anchor and change the X value, this did not affect the TOC unfortunately. I also checked the location of the invisible marker indicating the location of the inline text box, and it is definitely before the heading that follows. I confirmed this by removing the span columns option for that paragraph, and the TOC displayed properly after doing that, meaning there is likely some problem with the span columns option not properly recognizing the order of content.
    Regards,

  • Persist document in BLOB column problem

    Hi all,
    I'm having problem with persisting document in BLOB column.
    Using debuger I checked that document.doc contains correctly uploaded file before persist. There are other attributes of document and they are persisted correctly, but when I check blob size in database it size is 1byte which is incorrect.
    After I persist second file, first one get his correct size value, and size of second one is 1byte.
    If I stop weblogic server, second value will never be populated. If I only restart application without restarting server, and then upload third document, size of second one will be corrected.

  • COMMENTS  on TABLE/TABLE COLUMNS - Problem with - ' -

    Hi,
    Generated COMMENTS on table by,
    select dbms_metadata.get_dependent_ddl( 'COMMENT', table_name, user ) DDL from (select table_name from user_tab_comments where comments is not null);
    Generated COMMENTS on table's columns like,
    select dbms_metadata.get_dependent_ddl( 'COMMENT', table_name, user ) DDL
    from (select table_name from user_col_comments where comments is not null);
    But I am facing problem,
    Eg: Sample COMMENT generated.
    COMMENT ON TABLE "MHUBADMIN"."FUNCTION" IS 'The Function table stores information on the functions that the user's or the org's role has access to';
    Please use the word - user's - and - org's
    This gives error when I execute thie above statement in SQL prompt.
    If I execute like,
    COMMENT ON TABLE "MHUBADMIN"."FUNCTION" IS 'The Function table stores information on the functions that the user''s or the org''s role has access to';
    Works fine.
    I generated COMMENT script for nearly 1000 tables. The scipt contains nearly 10000 statements. How can I replace - ' - with - '' - .
    If I replace this manually it will take some time.
    Any automated method available? Please help me to solve this.
    regards,
    Mathew

    If you have spooled output.. any text editor can do this.
    Since you have a pattern like
    FUNCTION" IS 'The
    You can replace - IS ' - with - IS # -
    and - to'; - with - to#; -
    then replace all occurances of - ' - with - '' -.
    Then restore # to '.

  • DataGrid itemRenderer column problem

    I have searched high and low and have not found a solution so I'm hoping someone here can help me out.
    When I start up my application, my datagrid (one of the columns uses a itemrenderer) that column, displays everything but it spills / shows funky, then when I scroll some of them get fixed. I don't know exactly what causes this or how to fix it. The column I'm talking about is the "Like" column.
    If code is needed I will provide a pastebin link when requested, and I have attatched a screenshot of what the problem is.
    Any help / suggestions would be appreciated

  • ALV sum various columns problem

    Hi all,
    I'm doing a report on ABAP for a timesheet of the current month. The output i want is similar to this:
    Year      Month     Type         Item       #days  tue-1      wed-2    thu-3 ...
    2009     September  Project    Project1      3        1        1          1
    2009     September  Project    Projec2       5        1        1          0
    2009     September  Task       Task1         1        0        1          0
    The field #days is a sum of all the days columns for september next right to the #days column.
    I can have an SQL wich can extract all the data to fill year,month,type,item and #days. But then, i need to flat these #days in the correct days column. I think i can do it with 2 sqls, but then i need to join these data to display it right.
    Finally, present that data in an ALV.
    I have a structure defined in ABAP dictionary with all the static fields. The columns representing the days (sat-1,sun-2,...) are not in the structure.
    I've tried to define a new structure wich include the old one and define the remaining columns, but i can't show the fields defined in this extra structure, only the static fields defined in ABAP dictionary.
    This is probably simple, but i'm just starting in ABAP, and this seems odd and confusing right now.
    What's your advice to solve this problem?

    Hi,
    The question is not very clear but, u can try this.
    while populating the field catalog try using
    set_column_name,
    set_short_text,
    set_medium_text,
    set_long_text for the extra fileds added.
    if possible make it clear what exactly r u using asin, the reuse alv's or oo alv's or object alv's.

  • EXCEL CALCULATION IN CALCULATED COLUMN PROBLEM

    Hello,
    Please someone kindly help out with this calculation problem. I have an Excel file with this calculation:
    =IF(E10<D10,E10/D10,E10/E10)
    I am trying to translate this into a calculated column in a list and I can't seem to succeed with it. Can anyone try this out and be my hero.
    You've only got ONE LIFE; HELP as many people as you can, and ENJOY IT while it lasts. People are in the centre of our happiness, even God understands that.

    Hello Hemendra,
    Voila! here it is finally.
    =IF([SCORE-FM1]/[TARGET-FM1]*100>=100,"100",[SCORE-FM1]/[TARGET-FM1]*100)
    Frankly I couldn't believe it! It does fulfill my requirement. Thanks a lot for pointing in the right direction.
    Let me explain what this does.
    whenever the target is higher than the score (and inversely whenever the score is lower than the target)
    (still saying one and the same thing), we will always get a figure less than 100% (say anything between 0% - 99%) and this perfectly OK. That is what is happening in the above image where 89% and 33% is %Achieved.
    Also, whenever the score is the same with the target, the result will be 100%, that is what happened
    to the last calculation having "3" and "3".
    But whenever the score is higher than the target, the result will be over 100% (say 120%, 180%, 350%,
    etc). I want it such that whenever this is the case, the logic should trim it down to 100%. This is what the below calculation does:
    =IF([SCORE-FM1]/[TARGET-FM1]*100>=100,"100",[SCORE-FM1]/[TARGET-FM1]*100)
    Thanks Hemendra for being online. And for Sylvester Oriabor and Chinenye Nwanna who are offline who helped to drive this to conclusion, especially Chinenye Nwanna. Thank you all.

  • Person or Group column problem

    Hi, I have quite tricky problem with Person or Group column. We use that column in quite many places. When I create new item or edit list item properties I can find person just fine for example with lastname and choose it but when I save that
    item the persons name changes to someone else of our users.
    What I noticed is that if I search person with beginning of their email address (firstname.lastname) everything is good even after I save the item. With some persons it works even if I find them with lastname.
    Is there something to do with users ID in Site Collection hidden user information list vs User Profile Database?
    Any ideas. Thank you.
    Miikka

    Hi Miikka,
    can you try cleaning up the user information list via powershell and reconfigure the userprofile sync.  following url contains the powershell script for user information clean up

  • New tab page rows and columns problem

    Hi.
    After a recent update and making new tab links smaller, I've decided to increase number of rows and columns, put my most frequently used bookmarks in there and close bookmarks toolbar to improve visibility. Since yesterday (March 26 2014.) I lost my bottom row, although there is enough space on my screen. In about:config newtab section, it still says I'm having 6 columns and 5 rows, but I only get 4 rows when I open new tab. What might be the problem, and why did you make those newtab links smaller anyway?

    Hello,
    You're using Nightly, which is a highly experimental version of Firefox intended for testing. In the latest version, modifying the ''browser.newtabpage.columns'' and ''browser.newtabpage.rows'' preferences in about:config behaves as you describe (in my case, I actually only get 3 rows, presumably because of higher DPI settings). This issue has already been reported.

  • Need help - select data from NCLOB column problem

    Hi,
    Im having problem retrieving data from NCLOB columns via ODBC. After SQLExecdirect on my SELECT statement call to SQLFetch gives me following error:
    ORA-24806 LOB form mismatch
    I tried following two ways of data retrieval:
    SQLExecDirect(hstmt,(SQLTCHAR*)szSQLStatement,SQL_NTS);
    SQLBindCol(hstmt,3,SQL_C_TCHAR,chBuffer,sizeof(chBuffer),&iDataLen);
    SQLFetch(hstmt);
    OR
    SQLExecDirect(hstmt,(SQLTCHAR*)szSQLStatement,SQL_NTS);
    SQLFetch(hstmt);
    SQLGetData(hstmt,3,SQL_C_TCHAR,chBuffer,sizeof(chBuffer),&iDataLen);
    Both times call to SQLFetch gives me ORA-24806 LOB form mismatch error.
    INSERT and UPDATE for this table works just fine.
    If I change NCLOB type to CLOB works just fine, but I will be storing Unicode data, so using CLOB cant be a solution
    Any ideas appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vlad

    Yes, the 9.2.0.2 driver can be downloaded from OTN. I don't believe it will solve your particular problem, but it will help in general. If you don't grab the latest version, you'll probably have to chack the "Force SQL_WCHAR Support" option in the DSN configuration.
    From the help file
    "The C data type, SQL_C_WCHAR, was added to the ODBC interface to allow applications to specify that an input parameter is encoded as Unicode or to request column data returned as Unicode. The macro SQL_C_TCHAR is useful for applications that need to be built as both Unicode and ANSI. The SQL_C_TCHAR macro compiles as SQL_C_WCHAR for Unicode applications and as SQL_C_CHAR for ANSI applications."
    My first thought would be that your application is not being compiled as Unicode. If you substitute SQL_C_WCHAR for SQL_C_TCHAR when you're dealing with NCLOB columns, I suspect you'll have better luck.
    More help file
    "The SQL data types, SQL_WCHAR, SQL_WVARCHAR, and SQL_WLONGVARCHAR, were added to the ODBC interface to represent columns defined in a table as Unicode. These values are potentially returned from calls to SQLDescribeCol, SQLColAttribute, SQLColumns, and SQLProcedureColumns. In Oracle release 8.1.7.0.0 or 9.0.1.0.0, the Oracle database does not support encoding columns as Unicode. These values would not be returned from the ODBC Drivers for Oracle release 8.1.7.0.0 or for Oracle 9.0.1.0.0 databases.
    In Oracle release 9.2.0.0.0, Unicode encoding was supported for SQL column types NCHAR, NVARCHAR2, and NCLOB. In addition, Unicode encoding was also supported for SQL column types CHAR and VARCHAR2 if the character semantics were specified in the column definition.
    Starting with release 9.2.0.2.0, the ODBC Driver supports these SQL column types and maps NCHAR to the SQL data type SQL_WCHAR, NVARCHAR2 is mapped to SQL_WVARCHAR, and NCLOB is mapped to SQL_WLONGVARCHAR. The SQL CHAR column is mapped to SQL_WCHAR and the VARCHAR2 column is mapped to SQL_WVARCHAR if the character semantics are specified for the column. While the Force SQL_WCHAR Support option is still available in the 9.2.0.2.0 ODBC Driver, it is no longer required for Unicode support."

  • Fluid column problem

    I'm new to CSS but have opted to go for a 2 col fluid site.
    One page is causing the background to repeat - I've made it "no-repeat" so now just have a black bg at the bottom.
    I believe the thumbnails are pushing the page down but I don't know how to sort it out.
    CSS & HTML code below.
    Many thanks for any advice.

    Hi Paul,
    I could not reproduce the black bottom background with your source code. What I could see is this (Both images refer to the same line, I only was cutting them because of the Adobe width upload limit. You could them put together again :-))):
    and:
    Perhaps it's possible that you tell me the link to this page. If not already done, load the page on your server, no matter whether you are satisfied with it or not.
    In any case, I recommend Nancy O. 's self-explanatory templates on this issue. Here is one of the links:

  • Time column problem

    Hello,
    Attached you will find the vi. What I've done is: Within a while loop I have put a case structure which changes state when time of my experiment is elapsed. While the time has not elapsed, I get measurements from two thermocouples(right now i've replaced with two random number generators) using a for loop(6 iterations, every 10 sec), and logging my data to a txt file. I've managed to add headers and then append the data. However, I am currently struggling to add time, for example after the first collection of data, i want the time column to show in the first line 10(sec), second 20 and so on. I've tried with the timing functions but i just get a constant number probably in milliseconds. Can you help me add proper timing reference with respect to built vi?
    Thanks very much,
    Ioannis

    I probably didn't explain it correctly. I am trying to populate these tables with data about financial instruments.
    Table 2 and 3 share a primary key (INSTRUMENT). The primary key is generated in table 2, and the same value has to be later inserted into table 3. Sorry, I'm not following this at all. I don't think two tables should "share" a primary key. Both should have their own. Perhaps Table 3 would have a foreign key relationship with Table 2. OR the two tables should be one. But this notion of sharing doesn't sound right to me, and apparently Hibernate agrees. I think you have a bad design.
    Table 2 has a one to many relation with table 3. Then they can't share a primary key. It's 1:m, which you can easily model with Hibernate.
    (By many I mean it could be 0 as well, since hibernate does not provide a (one to 'maybe' one 'maybe zero) relation.Fine. Then it's a 1:m relationship. You've been thinking about it incorrect.
    Table 3 has an additional column PARENT_INSTRUMENT which is a foreign key to the the primary key of table 2.No. Wrong.
    Yes Instrument is financial in nature. However, I am not trying to model what you have spoken about above.Yes, I get it. Listen to Hibernate - your original idea is quite incorrect. Table 2 is 1:m with Table 3. Model it that way, and forget about this incorrect notion of "sharing a primary key". Give Table 3 its own auto generated key.
