Combine a Bar Graph with a Line Graph!

Is it possible to combine a Bar Graph with a Line Graph because occasionally we wish to use both bars and lines on the same plot.
If yes, could you please give us a sample rtf file?

Hi Tim,
To be more clear, I need to superimpose the two graphs.
For example,the first one shows the budget for each month along with the actual expenditures as a bar graph. The other shows the cumulative budget, forecast and costs for the entire project as a series of lines. The first graph uses the scale on the left side of the graph and the second graph uses the scale on the right side.

The graph wizard in Reports 9i allows you to create a dual Y combination graph - is this not sufficient for your needs, or am I missing something?

May be I don't understand correctly...
But if its really to separate chart area's;
just copy the datablock and format one as line and the other as barchart...

I have a pdf with a line graph that opens slow

I have a pdf with a line graph. When users open this it is very slow (30 seconds or more). Once this pdf is open, zooming or scrolling through pages takes just as long to accomplish as open the document. I am assuming this is due to the graph needing to be rendered. Any ideas on how to speen up readers ability to render these?

Interactive Bar/pie chart and line graph, data from excel/text file -urgent

Hi,
I have a huge data in excell sheet which keeps updating every month. Data basically consists of service provider and there respective subscribers from various regions of the country over the years. The requirement is to give the viewers an interactive page where in they can make various combinations and can compare, cross examine data according to thier choice.
We want the pie chart / bar graph or line graph to be created on the fly according to the combination made by the user.
The site is hosted on a red hat linux server. how can a connection to the excel spreadsheet be made or is it possible to read from the text file if the entire data is exported to a text file.
Is there any ready made tool/code available which can be customised according to the need.

Note that each Branch_Desc has 12 periods called CURRPERIOD,CURPERSUB1,CURPERSUB2 ...... and 12 values for those periods as VALUECURRENTPERIOD, VALUECURRENTPERIODSUB1, VALUECURRENTPERIODSUB2......
I need to create a Line Graph for each Branch for the 12 periods as defined above where VALUECURRENTPERIOD, VALUECURRENTPERIODSUB1 etc. are the values for that period. The current BIPublisher Chart tool only allows one Value and One Label. In my case I have 12 VALUES (VALUECURRENTPERIOD etc.) and 12 LABELS (CURRPERIOD, CURPERSUB1 etc.). The SERIES or LEGEND should be the Branch Desc . So what I am looking for is to plot values(12 values) for 6 branches (so six lines) over a period of time (12 periods).

We have this XML data calculated from several tables where the layout was in the format of One account(a Branch in this case) and 12 periodic values for the same . So reformatting the XML is not going to be easy as the source data is like this itself. I tried un-pivioting the table (as this one is already pivoted) but it looks like Oracle doesn't support this feature yet, but is suported in DB2 or SQL. Please take a look at this link

Problems with Flash Line Graphs

I have two problems with the new Flash Line Graphs in APEX 3.1
1. I have created a query that returns a set number of rows. Sometimes the VALUE for a specific row might be null. When this occurs the LABEL data does not show up on the X axis. I want the LABEL data to show up no matter what. How do I accomplish this?
2. Related to the above query. When the VALUE field is null for 3 records (or more) in a row, not only does the LABEL data for those records not display, the VALUE and LABEL data for the records that appear in the set after these 3 records also do not display. If one or even two null VALUE fields appears in a row, things are still OK. What do I need to do to get all my data to display?
Any help would be appreciated.

XY Graph with No Lines, Just Points?

Hi All,
I want to build a Pressure vs. Temperature graph. This should be a standard XY graph, but I just want to see the point scatter with no lines connecting the points. Is there a way to eliminate the lines between the points (or make them invisible)?

You can do it in graph properties. Right click on graph and select Properties. Go to the Plots tab. Select a point icon (anything other than <none>) in the third column of icons. Next select the top-most selection in the fourth column. It's the symbol with the plot points but no lines. This will give you waht you want.

Modification de l'échelle des couleurs sur un graphe 3D "3D Line graph"

Bonjour à tous,
Après obtention de mon graphe 3D, je n'arrive pas à modifier l’échelle des couleurs, c'est un détail esthétique mais utile.
Elle est composée actuellement d'un dégradé du rouge au noir sans passer par d'autres couleurs.
Autre chose est il possible de modifier l'échelle manuellement par exemple j'ai des chiffres de 5 à -289 qui corresponde en fait à une distance 0 à 18 µm mais quand je rentre cette échelle ça modifier logiquement le graphe est il possible de changer les valeurs de l'échelle sans modifier le graphe ? Si je ne suis pas clair dites-le.

1. Clic-droit sur le graphe et choisir '3D Graph Properties'
2. Choisir l'onglet Plots et dans celui-ci l'onglet Surface
3. Clic-droit sur une des valeurs de la rampe puis choisir 'Marker Color'
4. Pour rajouter une couleur, clic-droit sur la rampe et choisir 'Add Marker'
5. Cliquer sur une valeur pour la changer (et aussi par conséquence la repositionner dans la rampe)
Vous ne pouvez pas changer les valeurs sans changer le graphe. Ces valeurs sont utilisées pour l'échelle du tracé.

How do I create a graph with regression lines?

Hi,
I have a simple query that returns 2 columns of variable numeric data that I would like to create a chart from. By using a numeric axis line chart I've been able to plot the individual points. However, I now want to add a regression line based on those points. The regression line could be a simple linear regression, a quadratic regression, or more complex 3 or 4 parameter regressions. Is this possible?
There could be a number of ways of creating the parameters (eg slope and intercept for a linear regression):
a) Crystal Reports could calculate them whilst drawing the line
b) I could create a formula that provides the parameters that CR could use to plot the line
c) I could return the parameters from the database as part of the same or a separate query.

Hi Colin,
I just added a regression line to one of my charts yesterday I did it by right clicking on the line (or in my case it was the bar) on the graph. Then I picked Trendlines. There are about 16 different formulas available. I picked Linear Regression for mine and it gave me exactly what I needed.

Bex Analyser: Bar chart with limit or average line, is it possible?

Hi everyone.
I have a short question:
Do you know if it is possible to combine different chart types in the Bex Analyser?
I would like to have a bar chart providing monthly values and in the same chart a line showing 1) a fixed limit and 2) another line showing an accumulated moving average.
I have the values as source available, however I can't figure out how to combine the bar charts with a line chart in the same graph.
Does anybody know if this is possible?

it is possible to have a Bex Chart of mixed type , you can choose the type of display for each series
As for fixed line - you will need to have the values supplied by query
As for moving average , that too needs to come from the query. The IGS service which renders the chart is something similar to Excel - the display options can be changed but nothing more that what is in the data table.

How to combine a bar with a line in a chart

We want to combine data in bars and with a line showing in one chart.
Is that possible? How do you configure your chart?
The line and the bars are based on the values from different fields in the same table.

We are using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2005. Can you please let me know how to combine a bar with a line chart.

Stacked Bar chart and Line graphs

I have a report in Crystal which has stacked bar chart and a line graph together in one report.
Is it possible to do the same thing in WebI . Can anybody share the experience.

Today you can only have a simple bar (not stacked) and line chart in Web Intelligence. We are looking to improve charts in the future. In the meantime you can look into the masher from the labs...

i have sucessfully used this data to plot a line graph(1 line)
now i have

<volume> <volume2>
how do i put this values into a single line graph? that means, i will have a line graphs with 2 lines.

Line graph parent table child

i have a page where i have a line graph as parent and a table as its child. i want to have a master detail relationship through a view link of cardinality 1 to many.
when user selects appropriate points of line graph, the child table should refresh accordingly.
child table shows only children of firts record of line graph.
is there a problem with line graph being a parent. i could find examples which used bar / pie graph but not line graph. although i had checked the checkbox while creating graph.
i am using bind variables for both parent and child VO.
do i need to execute child VO query again to be able to display corresponding children for a parent on a line graph.

Hi,
when you create a line graph by dragging a collection (View Object) from the Data Controls panel to the page then, in the second dialog of the wizard, there is a check box "Set current row for master-detail". Check this check box and then create the table from the dependent view object. No bind variables required
