Command line java 7 on osx 10.9?

I've installed Java 7 Update 51.pkg on my Mac, but in terminal, "java -version" reports
java version "1.6.0_65"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_65-b14-462-11M4609)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.65-b04-462, mixed mode)
My jar requires 64-bit 1.7. How do I get the command line to recognise the right version of java?

Contact http://www.java.com/
if you are having difficulty getting it to recognize the correct Java.  I can also ask the thread be redirected to the Developer forum if you are trying to develop code for it.

  • How to create command line java client

    I have a java servlet FileClient.java and am invoking it thru POST method from the html file. How can I create command line java client so that I can execute this class file from windows command prompt.
    e.g. java FileClient <argument>
    TIA

    > .. there's also a "won't work".
    I could post a sample...I know that you can instantiate and call aservlet,
    or even write your own servlet container - butit's
    still a local instance. He can't invoke his remote
    servlet by calling its class on the client like he
    suggested.HttpURLConnection in main.Only if his Servlet has a main method. Which wouldn't really make it a servlet anymore.
    OP said he wants to invoke it from command-line using
    java -cp . TheServletClass
    He said he has a servlet called FileClient. And he can't invoke a servlet directly that way, without building a wrapper that starts it, making it more than a servlet, and it definitely won't execute on the server. That's my whole point. I never wanted to say you can't write a command-line program that invokes a servlet on a remote server. I do it myself after all.
    I guess I should have expressed myself more clearly.

  • Executeing Command Line Java

    Greetings, I need to execute the following command line in
    java (and get the results via CF):
    java -cp
    /Volumes/htdocs/encrypt/me/;../bcprov-jdk14-133.jar;.;
    com.me.crypt.Do test
    I have tried to do this with cfexecute but I cant seem to use
    the arguments attribute correctly. I have even tried this but all I
    ever get back is a blank string:
    <cfexecute name="java" arguments="-version" timeout="100"
    variable="MyObj" />
    Im also not sure how to create a object with
    the"../bcprov-jdk14-133.jar" in there. Normally I would just put
    the classes in the classpath and create a object but the jar is
    throwing things off. Its not my java class and Im not really at
    liberty to change it.

    When you provide the name of the class, it has to include its full package name (your's doesn't have a package) and the parent directory of the root of the package has to be on the claspath. In your case: java -cp Java Simple It works in the first case because if there's no classpath specified and no env var set, then the classpath is assumed to be the current directory.

  • Can you execute a class file without invoking the command line java command

    I am running java on a Windows XP equipped machine, and I am wondering if it is possible to execute a class file by double clicking the file icon, or can it only be done via command line. So far I have been unsuccessful in my attempts - I tried associating the class file with the java executable in my JRE directory, but that didn't work.
    Many thanks,
    -Stile

    nope, can't be done, by design... microsoft recognised java as threat to the empire very early on in the peace.... but you can write a batch file to execute myprogram.class called myprogram.bat and stick it in your PATH.
    keith.

  • Is it possible to pass command line as variable.

    Hi to all,
    I have an application(java based) which upon execution asks for database name after selection thru file dialog, it spawns dos window and executes batch file (and the batch file contain command line java programm).
    Now my question is how can i pass the database name to this spawned java application in dos prompt.
    Anybody's suggestion is welcomed.
    Regards
    Khizer

    Two ways, as a property or as an argument.
    You can set it as a property like this using the -D option:
    java -Ddatabase.name=MyDatabase ....
    Then you can read it from the application as
    System.getProperty("database.name");
    Passing it as an argument goes like this:
    java ... MyMainClass MyDatabase
    and read it as
    public class MyMainClass {
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        if (args.length == 1) {
          System.out.println("Database name is: "+args[0]);
        } else {
          System.out.println("Usage: java ... MyMainClass <database name>");
    }

    If you go to: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/io/writingFiltered.html
    it will show you how to subclass a filtered output stream and add your own formatting methods.Then you can chain your new class to System.out
    like this:
    YourFilteredStream yfs = new YourFilteredStream(System.out); .
    Then:
    yfs.yourNewMethod(); goes directly to system out in the new format.

  • JMS Message Export/Import XML on command line

    I need a command line (JAVA or WLST) to reproduce the Weblogic consol JMS message export and import to migrate manually message from a queue to another (online without filestore).
    There is an entry on the Weblogic console that export one or all message to an XML format file and the import command to reload this XML file.

  • Read Command from Command Line

    Hi.
    I am starting my application using the following command at the command line: "java -jar convert.jar config.txt". Is there any way for me to read the "convert.jar" portion of the command.
    I am building a server side application that needs to restarted periodically. I get the invocation directory using System.getProperty("user.dir"). I need to know the name of the command so that I can execute something line
    "java -jar" + strCommand + System.getProperty("user.dir"), where strCommand is the command "convert.jar" or "/path/to/convert.jar"
    Thanks,
    Siddharth.

    am building a server side application that needs to restarted periodically.The OS has certainly a utility to periodically schedule an application (cron, at, scheduled tasks...)

  • Translating command line run app

    I had an example which was passed parameters through the command line. The example says
    * To run this example, type the following on a command line:
    java -cp cookbook.jar BasicScript script-file file-out
    * where
    * script-file is a file containing the ActionScript that will be executed to
    * control the movie clip.
    * file-out is the path where the file will be written. If no output file
    * is specified then a file named after the example will be written to the
    * current directory.Then in the main method, it has a line
    String out = args.length == 1 ? "BasicScript.swf" : args[1];I dont really want to be using my app theough the command line, so I was trying to translate the above line. If I was to recreate this String myself, what would it look like?
    cheers

    nick2price wrote:
    Thanks. It was the ?: I had never seen before. So in essence, I can just remove everything from that line a just assign it a String which holds the filename
    String out = "BasicScript.swf";
    If you always want to use that file name, and not pass one in from the command line, then yes, you can get rid of the part that says, "If the one from the command line exists, use it, else..." and just leave the hardcoded file name.

    Hi Denis
    I found out after I create a biar file ,with only the user, through a command line. that the user did import since it was in a concurrent connectiontype , a type that not exit in the target environment.
    But after I fix this in the source environment and saw that a biar file with only the user is loaded , I recreate the biar file with all the objects as before (user, universe, report , folder) and I still got the same error message as before.
    So now I try to create the biar file with all those object through the command line. and I get a new errer message "Required dependencies not found on target system : '[AZK_.9sbf_lMgdQRpsbZfVw]"
    I check it , and understand that the object is the report , but I do not see what missing..... : (
