Translating command line run app

I had an example which was passed parameters through the command line. The example says
* To run this example, type the following on a command line:
java -cp cookbook.jar BasicScript script-file file-out
* where
* script-file is a file containing the ActionScript that will be executed to
* control the movie clip.
* file-out is the path where the file will be written. If no output file
* is specified then a file named after the example will be written to the
* current directory.Then in the main method, it has a line
String out = args.length == 1 ? "BasicScript.swf" : args[1];I dont really want to be using my app theough the command line, so I was trying to translate the above line. If I was to recreate this String myself, what would it look like?
cheers

nick2price wrote:
Thanks. It was the ?: I had never seen before. So in essence, I can just remove everything from that line a just assign it a String which holds the filename
String out = "BasicScript.swf";
If you always want to use that file name, and not pass one in from the command line, then yes, you can get rid of the part that says, "If the one from the command line exists, use it, else..." and just leave the hardcoded file name.

  • JDev specifying SQLJ translator command line options

    Hi,
    I have come across the problem of SQLJ connections caching up to 5 sql commands and so leaving any related cursors open. This is happening mainly for statments where I have executed a SELECT ... INTO ... Any sqlj with iterators, I have closed the iterators so they do get removed and their cursors closed.
    I have found that caching can be switched off via the SQLJ translator command line option -P-Cstmtcache=0.
    How can I specify this command line option within my JDeveloper project settings? I don't want to have to build my project from the command line explicitly as this will complicate the Release Software Build procedure.
    Can anyone help me, please?
    Thanks a lot.

    Can anyone offer any words of wisdom on this? We are currently using JDeveloper 3.1 (Build 681)

  • Command line webcam apps

    On my old PowerPC iBook I used Videoscript and the macam webcam driver with a CGI system I wrote to take webcam pictures via a webpage, from my external Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000. With my relatively new Intel-based iMac I'm not having any success in getting Videoscript to take pics.
    My question- has anyone used Videoscript with an Intel Mac, or in general, any suggestions as to command line-based apps to take a picture with an external camera? I tried macaw, but the pics all come out dark, and isightcapture, which seems good in general, but I haven't determined how to make it use the external cam rather than the built-in...
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'd tried -d as well as different -i options. The -d debugging output is below, and "-i 0" and "-i 1" both result in the built-in camera being used, and anything above 1 results in this error:
    <pre>
    DEBUG: initialize toolbox
    DEBUG: opening default component
    DEBUG: querying component list
    DEBUG: query component list
    DEBUG: found component
    FATAL: sequence grabber component not found, cam not connected ?
    </pre>
    wacaw actually has a -L (list) option, which lists available inputs, which is an option I'd expect isightcapture to have, since it has the -i. This is what it returns:
    <pre>
    There are 4 devices in the list.
    The current selection is 3.
    0 - DV Video [available] [not inputs]
    1 - IIDC FireWire Video [available] [not inputs]
    2 - Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 [available] [not inputs]
    There are 1 inputs for this device.
    The current selection is 0.
    0 - Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 #0 [available]
    3 - USB Video Class Video [available] [could be inputs]
    There are 1 inputs for this device.
    The current selection is 0.
    0 - Built-in iSight [available]
    </pre>
    So they don't match the 0 and 1 that isightcapture accepts.
    The isightcapture -d output:

  • Getting error when using the "/parameter" switch in command line run

    Has anyone experienced this problem before?
    My report queries over 100,000 records from a view. When the report is run from the command line every thing works fine.
    But when I add a condition using a "parameter", although the report still runs fine from the destop, when launched from the command line it errs.
    "Oracle Discoverer Desktop has encountered a problem and needs to close. ..."
    "The instruction at "0x0044397c" referenced memory at "0x0000004e". The memory cound not be "read"...."
    I'm guessing its a memory issue with my PC. I've tested using a parameter with other reports using fewer records and it doesn't err from the command line.
    I can work around the issue by not using a parameter but then I have 20 versions of the same report each with a different condition.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Lise McGillis

    Hi Michael,
    I'm using an DELL Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz with 1 GB of RAM. We use Microsoft Windows XP Prof version 2002.
    As for Discoverer we are using 10G, Desktop Client 10.1.2.48.18 - 1047500 KB available memory , 2099744 KB Free disk space.
    I'm not sure I have acess to a computer with more RAM but I'm looking into it.
    What I'm frustrated by is the fact that the parameter works fine when run directly from the desktop but when passed from the command line it bombs... but only when dealing with mega records.

  • TS-Run Command Line-run as different user

    HI
    I needed to deploy one program which do not like SYSTEM account (do not installs). So I created TaskSequence with
    Run Command line and specified domain user which will be running this command.
    Is my domain users password safe or it will be provided in clear text in my network? Because this user must be Admin on local computer.

    Just to reinforce, the tasks use standard, core Windows APIs to impersonate the account and execute the command -- these APIs never send anything in clear text and if they did, then Windows has much bigger issues. It would actually take
    a huge amount of effort to not securely perform this operation.

  • Java command line run code question?

    hello all:
    I met a question and want to get some suggestion from you.
    I have one file TestOne.java located in
    folder "c:\temp\aaa" which contains only one file(TestOne.java).
    package samples.java2beginner.gui;
    import java.io.*;
    public class TestOne {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
                System.out.println("hello world");
    }I use the following command to compile this java code:
    c:\temp\aaa\javac TestOne.java // everything is ok.
    In order to run this program, I have to manually create
    folder hierarch "samples\java2beginner\gui" in "c:\temp\aaa" and
    use the command
    c:\temp\aaa\java samples.java2beginner.gui.TestOne to run this program.
    My question is: is there any method that I can directly run
    this java program without manually create "samples\java2beginner\gui"
    which is annoying?
    thank you

    hello atmguy and DevMentee:
    Thank you for your great suggestion.
    I guess I didn't say my question clearly.
    The class file compiled from TestOne.java is TestOne.class which cannot be modified.(so i cannot erase the package line or any kind of modification)
    I want to run the java program from command line.
    currently I have to create "samples\java2beginner\gui" and copy TestOne.class to there.
    My question is: given one class file only(so you only get the TestOne.class),
    do you have method to run it from command line?
    so at this case you don't know which package the .class belongs to.
    You might think my question is silly. The reason I posted the question because
    I found problems when I use jode to decompiler a class file.
    JODE is a java decompiler from jode.sourceforge.net
    Given the above class file "TestOne.class", I cannot use jode to decompile it, because I have to run jode with the following method:
    c:\temp\aaa\java jode.decompiler.Main -cp samples.java2beginner.gui.TestOne
    which in fact is impossible given only .class file?
    because the reason we use jode is to decompiler, how can you know the package
    structure before decompile?!
    so the problem came to my original question.
    thank you all.

  • Problem running DNG Converter from command line in Windows XP

    I'm a frustrated user trying to run Adobe DNG converter from the Windows command line - more specifically from a batch file.
    - Am reasonably conversant with writing batch files
    - Have read the PDF file provided by Adobe
    I just can't figure the correct syntax for adding the command line parameters and, unfortunately, the Adobe PDF file doesn't have verbose examples for idiots like me. Nor can I find any such examples on the Net, or any discussion of this problem in the forums.
    The Adobe PDF instructions state...
    "The parameter list includes the conversion options you want to use, followed by the names of the files to convert."
    As there is no switch to prefix 'the names of the files to convert' I assume I just leave a space and include the path to the source files at the end of the parameter list?
    Here is the batch file line I am trying to use...
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe DNG Converter.exe [parameter list]"
    Where I want to specify in the [parameter list] that...
    (a) The destination directory (-d <directory> parameter) is c:\DNG_files
    (b) And the source files are in directory c:\RAW_files
    Here is the batch line with the parameters entered...
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe DNG Converter.exe -dC:\RAW_files c:\DNG_files"
    I've tried variations of this with space between -d and C:\RAW_files and C:\DNG_files\*.* for the source files parameter.
    I just keep getting DOS erros like "The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect"
    Can anybody help me. I'm clueless how to solve the problem. :-(
    I'm running DNG COnverter version 4.2
    Thanks in anticipation.

  • Task Sequence Command Line to Unregister DLL Not Working...Won't Run As Administrator

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to unregister a dll by creating a Custom Task Sequence using the command line "%SystemRoot%\System32\regsvr32.exe" /s -u "%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\VGX\vgx.dll"
    SCCM is reporting success, however the DLL isn't being unregistered on the client machines.  If I manually run the command on a client machine as administrator it works.  I have specified that same administrative user in the Custom Task Sequence.
    These are Windows 7 machines, so my hunch is it has something to do with UAC, but I'm kind of stumped what to do here but feel like I'm missing something obvious.
    Thanks!

    Thanks again Jason for sticking with me here.  We are running this on 64-bit Windows.  Okay, I fixed the command line so it now is: %windir%\sysnative\regsvr32.exe /s -u "%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\VGX\vgx.dll"
    Once again, SCCM shows it successfully executed the task sequence, however the dll still didn't unregister.
    Any other ideas what might be going on?  I really appreciate the help.

  • Run publication through command line or VBS.

    Is it possible to create a VB code that will run a publication through the command line,run the publication now using VBS ?
    Thanks
    Yoav

    Are you on XI Release 2 or XI 3.1?
    You're looking at Enterprise COM SDK:
    1. Publication InfoObject was changed considerably for XI 3.x - to add support for Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence documents as well as Desktop Intelligence - so you'd best not rely on XI Release 2 API to interact with them.
    2. Enterprise COM SDK is deprecated, and not supported for use with XI 3.x
    3. Only web applications are supported with Enterprise SDK.  This restriction arises from the CORBA framework used for inter-service communication.

  • How do I pause C command-line program?

    Hello. I'm writing a little command-line game app in C and I'm curious about how I can pause the program to wait for the user to hit return. I want the user to need to hit return (or having to hit any key would work too) to make the program continue, and I would like the key that was hit not to appear on the screen -- just a simple sort of "hit any key to continue" type thing. In C++ I think we used something like system("Pause") or something like that -- don't really remember, but any help here will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Something like this will print a prompt, then wait for a keystroke:
    printf("Hit any key to continue> ");
    getchar();
    However in a console application, it's not so easy to prevent the user's keystrokes from being echoed. There are ways to turn the echo off for the keystroke then restore it, but those can depend on the environment. I'd need to know whether you're running your program in an Xcode console window, a Terminal window, or elsewhere. In short, don't go there unless it's quite important to you. The above prompt will show any chars that are keyed-in as text after the arrow, which is what a user would expect.
    Hope that helps!

  • BBIPS - Command Line Utilities

    BBIPS - Command Line Utilities - Just released !
    I wrote these after working on the main bbips program recently, and decided that individual functions could also be seperate programs, sometimes making it easier to chain them together to do multiple operations to image files.  This is the first release, and this contains 20 seperate programs to manipulate your images files.
    To install these simply open a shell and run this command:
    wget "http://bbips.org/downloads/bbipsinstall.sh"; sh bbipsinstall.sh; rm -f bbipsinstall.sh
    This will do the following.
    1. Create a directory if not already present "~/.bbips"
    2. Download into that directory "bbips-clu.tar.gz"  (http://bbips.org/downloads/bbips-clu.tar.gz)
    3. Extracts everything from bbips-clu.tar.gz to "~/.bbips"
    4. Removes the file bbips-clu.tar.gz (cleanup)
    5. Downloads the file bbipsbashrc (overwrites it if it exists) (http://bbips.org/downloads/bbipsbashrc)
    6. Checks to see if your .bashrc file has already been modified yet
    7. If .bashrc hasn't been modified, sources in the bbipsbashrc file.
    8. Exits
    Now.... if you follow the directions, you will close this shell and open a new shell (effectively reloading your bashrc file for you).  Now, from the command line, run the command "bbhelp"

    The commandline utility client scripts that we provide out of the box will support either NT or unix. Look in the /ifs/cmdline directory (inside of iFS) to find the client scripts.
    By the way, all the scripts do is run a java application (the CUP client) and pass it parameters. You don't really need them to use the CUP server (you could manually run the CUP client).

  • Generate video in command line?

    I didn't have time to research this in powermap. Is it possible to generate the power-map video via command line? Has anyone looked into it?

    Yes.
    It'd be nice to have this feature. I wonder if this will lead to increased performance??? For example, SSIS in command line runs faster than UI mode.

    In other words, a JavaFX project works a bit differently than a normal Java project. com/javafx/main/Main is used as the Main class and your "Main" class is called later.
    If you are trying to build this from a normal Java project, then com/javafx/main/Main will not be created and it will call your Main class right away. Thus, whatever setup is needed to run JavaFX will not occur.

  • Can flash player app be run and controlled in a system with only command line?

    I want to test my.  flash app in a remote linux pc. I am not permitted to install  desktop environment in that remote pc.
    So I am wondering if I can use flashplayer_10_sa_debug to run my app in a system with only command line access.
    And further, can I use some command option to interact with my app for doing something?
    If not , how can I reach my goal? Can you give me some advices?

    Hi,
    Can we get a status update for this? This seems to have broken Mac Projector files when published from a PC. Our old CD-ROM presentations no longer work. They throw the same error.
    Is there a bug ticket that we can follow? Any sort of timeline? I need to give an answer to my client on when this will be fixed. Telling them to disable Gatekeeper isn't really a great solution.

  • Run App Engine through command line but have it show up in Process Monitor

    We are trying to run Application Engine through command line and have it show up in the Process Monitor.
    We have successfully ran the Application Engine through command line. We also can successfully run the Application Engine through PIA.
    Only when you run the AppEng through PIA it goes through the Process Scheduler and shows up in the Process Monitor.
    We would like to be able to do this through command line as well. Has anyone done this before?

    I'm not sure if it is (easily) doable.
    => Fire a process through the front end appl is nothing but insert few rows in process scheduler tables settings (PSPRCSRQST, PSPRCSQUE), then the process scheduler is taking information from there every x seconds and eventually run the command (on the process scheduler server) keeping an eye on the process result in the tables to post the result.
    => Fire psae through command line (or pssqr) bypass the process scheduler, you can run it from any client... so even without any clue about Process Scheduler server or even without Process Scheduler at all (cf. the very first AE running during an installation is VERSION without anything else than the client).
    So finally, your AE program has no clue where it should run outside the client you are fired the command from (i.e. on the batch server as it is running when you are fired the same AE through the front end application), nothing more about the process scheduler configuration file, and where the output files should be posted.
    Maybe not by running the AE from the command line, but by simulating the actions as it would be from the front end application, for instance by inserting in the tables whatever you want to run... but it sounds odd. Probably some developer might have done this before... but this should be reconsidered by Peopletools version/patch level (or through CI ?)
