I want to access my pen drive in Lab view 8.5.I tried it using VISA Read/ Write Functions.But i dont know what commnd i should send to it so as to get reply. (I used *IDN?.....din't work)I know that PC communicates with USB device using commands or using binary commands.please tell me from where i'll get command set please.

With the function 'List Folder' you can get a list of all drives on your computer if you feed an empty path to it.
folder names contains the names of the folders found in the specified directory. This function sorts the folder names alphabetically.
If path is an empty path, folder names contains the names of the drives on the computer.

We tried to launch the CMD.exe using the DOS Task Scheduler AT command. Here’s a sample command:
AT 10:36 /interactive cmd.exe
But I received a warning that “due
to security enhancements, this task will run at the time excepted but not interactively.”
It turns out that this approach will work for XP, 2000 and Server 2003 but due to session isolation
Interactive services no longer work on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and above.
2. We
tried to create a secondary Windows Service via the Service Control (sc.exe) which merely launches CMD.exe.
<Drive>:\sc create RunCMDAsLSA binpath= "cmd" type=own type=interact <Drive>:\sc
start RunCMDAsLSA
In this case the service fails to start and results it the following error message:
FAILED 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
3. One
suggestion, we found to launch CMD.exe via a Scheduled Task, but
it is not giving any option to launch CMD.exe in interactive mode; so that I can map network drive using net command.
4. I read an article, which
demonstrates the use of PSTools from SysInternals. I launched the command line and executed following command
psexec -i -s cmd.exe
PSTools worked fine, but It seems that in scope of Sysinternals Software License
Terms. You may not "use the software for commercial software hosting services."
Application will deploy on client, which will be like commercial,
so we are not able to use PSTools.
Kindly assist us for achieving the requirement. We have tried all the ways, but nothing is working for us. Kindly suggest.

And there will not be any vulnerability, because, if we will use "net
use ..."
in network domain; definitely,
we will provide username and password of mapped drive system.
And, that system, itself is given by client; so that, there must not be any vulnerability; they are ready to provide user name and password.
We need a way; by which we can complete the requirement. Kindly assist.

Pen drive not detected by PC

I bought a new 8GB HP V210W pen drive in Mumbai.It is not detected in USB 2.0 Ports of my PC running Windows 7 (Ultimate) .
But when I insert the same in i ball6012 tablet port of pen drive is detected and I could able to copy data into the drive from tablet. Pen drive is also detected by another PC running Windows XP.
Pl tell me procedure to download USB 2.0 driver for pen drive in my PC
Any help would be much appriciated.

You can use your pen drive on your XP machine and your tablet, but not the Windows 7 machine.
This could be caused by any of the following:
Your drive does not have a drive letter assigned to it in Disk Management
Your USB driver may be corrupted or not fully installed.
Can you see the Pen Drive in Disk Management when its plugged in?
If you see your drive showing but it does not have a drive letter assigned, do the following:
EXAMPLE using a Mushkin Pen Drive.
Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button, right clicking on Computer and then click Manage.
If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Click Disk Management. Look for a drive that does not have an assigned drive letter and is not labeled as System Reserved.
Note: The System Reserved drive is reserved by Windows.
Right-click the unlabeled drive and click Change drive letter and paths…
Click Add and then click OK to select the first available drive letter.
If the Change drive letter and paths… option is not available, make sure that the drive is Online.
If the drive is Offline, right-click the disk number and click Online.
IF this is not the case let me know. Then we will see if the driver needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled for the Pen Drive

What format do I format a pen drive in for use on Mac

My USB pen drive has somehow got corrupted from using it in both windows and MAC - I want to erase and re-format it disc utility but I dont know which format option to choose.

My g5 isn't reading my pen drive and it used to be able to read it

I have a G5 powermac and it's not reading my pen drive. The interesting thing is that it used to read the pen drive but now it's not reading ANY of my pen drives. I keep getting the disk insertion box and when I click on disk utility it shows said pen drive but I cannot access the pen drive. Any advice would be helpful.

In the Time and Dialog functions is a VI called Wait (ms). This VI waits the set number of ms before continuing. You may want to put it inside a single frame sequence to force data flow. (i.e. you have an error output from the previous function that you wire to the single frame sequence with the wait inside and then wire it out again to your next VI. This will force the "correct" execution order.)
If you are using Windoze, then you should be aware that there will be a certain variability in the timing due to Windoze multi-tasking (or at least what they call multi-tasking).

OK icacls command that should work but doesn't.

When some of my systems go to print a PDF the spooler just locks up. I can't control what type of PDF files are coming in as they are made by all kinds of software and so the problems begin. I have been working on a batch file that will stop
the spooler service if it hasn't already, then run the above command to grant rights to the indicated directory so that the offending files can be deleted from the spooler and restart the spooler service after that has happened. The reason for this is
that by default a user can't go in and delete the files. I believe that I have the command correct and it used to work fine in Windows XP and Windows 7 but I can't see why it doesn't work in Windows 8.
Here is the batch file. Please tell me what I have wrong in it.

icacls "c:\windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS" /grant administrators:(IO)(CI)(OI)F /t

If you run icacls "c:\windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS" /grant administrators:(IO)(CI)(OI)F /t manually,
what output do you get and what is the resultant ACL on the files?
Also, you shouldn't use the /t switch - it tells icacls to recursively apply that ACE for every subitem
in that folder rather than let NTFS handle it via inheritance. The only time you should use it is when you really need to apply a specific ACE explicitly to all items in a folder, for instance:
icacls "C:\temp" /grant administrators:F /t
The above command will explicitly grant Administrators full control on every item in that folder (this
item only - no inheritance).

HT2801 Apple Store said that the USB SuperDrive would work with my iMac that already has an internal optical drive to be used as a secondary drive, but I can't get it to work when I plug it in the usb port.

After plugging into my USB port, I find it doesn't work. Has anybody else tried this.

Which USB Superdrive are you referring to? If this is the one:

it states it works with Macbook Air, Mini, or MBP with Retina display. If they told you differently, take it back for a full refund and show them their own website.

Problems with mp3 pen-drives to listen in the car

Hi everyone,
i'm from Italy and a new happy iMac 27" owner by 1 month..
i 'm really glad to have and use this wonderful machine , I come from years and years of Pc-Win.
The only thing, for now, that causes some problems is about saving and listening, in my car, mp3 files on USB pen drives.
Before, using a a normal Pc-Win, i could save mp3 files and listen them in my car, but now using my iMac i can still save them but i can't listen them in my car. Something doesn't work.
if i create a pen-drive with my mp3 files i can listen only few of them, but many files don't play.
- I created the pen-drive (FAT formatted/initialized) using iTunes, drag and drop the files on the pen drive icon
- I tried to create the pen drive using only Finder App
- i tried to change the pen drive
- I tried to check the differences between the files that work and the others, but it seems there is no much differences
- I tried to erase the pen drive trash
.. nothing
the problem is still here, i can only listen a few tracks.
Somebody knows something about this problem ?

I bought an inexpensive set ($7) of portable speakers that run on 3 AAA batteries. My iPod plugs into it thru the headphone jack and has a little rest for the iPod. The sound results are pretty good and they are small so I can put it on the floor, seat or even in the cupholder and still hear my music. It kind of looks like the bookshelf sound system they sell only much smaller as the speakers are on each side of the ipod. I got mine at Big Lots. But I am sure lots of other places sell them.

If the pendrive is giving you a write protect warning, it might be fixed using USB Flash Driver Format Tool (Ufix-II).

You may need to have 7-Zip installed to extract the .rar file. It is a free download. http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
Your going to extract "RecoverTool_V2.00.42_M1223 8CE.exe" from the downloaded file and run.
You should now be able to reformat the pendrive. IF this does not help, then the pendrive is most likey damaged and nothing more can be done.
If it is new, I would take it back to the store for a replacement or contact HP Support for more options.

Pen drive will not appear or format on iMac

I have a 16gb hp pen drive and i used it with my imac one day then the next it will not appear unless viewed in the disk utility, even then it is greyed out. I need to format it as it has information i need to delete off it, but when i choose erase it comes up with the following error message. "POSIX reports: The operation couldn’t be completed. Cannot allocate memory"
Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know this may be presumptuous of me, but have you tried plugging it in to other ports and or rebooting? Also, try using the First Aid of Disk Utility to repair and or verifying it.
I think there is some issue with Snow Leopard and USB drives. I have a 32 GB USB drive that will not be recognized on my powered USB hub, but will be recognized when plugged directly into my iMac. Yet, that same USB drive will be recognized while plugged into the powered USB hub by Windows 7 while running in virtualization mode.

GPO: CD and DVD: Deny write access prevents user from using their USB Pen drive, but other users or ok

My Users have secure pen drives that launch a CDROM partition with a secure logon app that decrypts the main USB mass storage element of the pen drive on successful logon. The problem I have is that users who install the usb pen drive cannot then
initialize the CDROM launcher app to input their password to access the mass storage element of the pen drive making it useless.
However, any other user that has the same type of pen drive who then plugs it in to the endpoint that already has the drivers installed is able to access their own pen drive or the other users pen drive (providing the know the password).
So I've isolated the problem being down to the presence of the GPO setting stated above on the Removable Storage Access Policy, and by not having this policy in place when a user installs the pen drive they have no issues, but I can't find a way to clean
up a user who is already broken even if I remove the GPO from that user, delete their local profile so that they logon as a new user (no roaming or other data) and use a variety of utilities such as USBOblivion to clear out the registry and file system of
the USB device and installation. When the original user logs back on and then installs the usb pen drive again they have the same issue, but no other users do. I have the same issue if I try this with an alternative user or admin as the first user after the
'clean up'. Everyone else can use the pen drive except the user that originally installed it when the GPO was in place.
If I move the user to a new endpoint or rebuild their endpoint then they have no problem being the installer of the usb pen drive and then using it since the GPO was removed, so what I need to know is what is it about the USB install and the GPO that
is tattooing in Windows somewhere and how do I remove it?

In my opinion, this is probably not Windows GPO problem. To confirm the suppose, you can follow the path below to check GPO settings if there is any change after the software installed.
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Removable Storage Access
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Removable Storage Access
These two policy manage system and current user Removable Storage access.
If there is no change with these policy, it would be better to contact the manufacture of the driver for further assistance.

Hard Drive not detected

Hello all,
I am working on a friend's 15 inch iMac G5 and have run across what I'm hoping is not a major issue.
The iMac was not booting and displayed a gray screen, I zapped PRAM, tried to boot from CD, and tried Target disk mode. Once I was finally able to boot from the CD the installer will not detect the iMac's internal HD. I also booted from my PowerBook which could not detect the HD. The Apple System Profiler has the same HD blindness.
Is there any other explanation besides the HD being dead? This computer is only a year old, how could the HD die so fast?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My iMac G5 20" is about 1.5 years old and is giving the same problem as well. It just die on me last weekend. As most of you explained earilier, it's unable to detected SATA drive. I replaced it with new SATA drive, and it's still unable to detected it. The fan also crank at high speed as well.
Doing that should rule out SATA hard drive issue.
It this going to be issue regarding to Apple products?
I'm wondering if it's power supply issue. I know from past experience that with PC, that there's been
failure related to power supply not giving enough juice to certain component.
Sadly I don't have extra power supply with me to verify my theory.

Connection didn't retrieve Driver when I use an Agent

When I launch a scenario with ODI Scheduler one of my variable can't be Refreshed.
I obtain an error message which says that there is "No suitable driver".
When I refresh the same variable without any agent (no scheduling) there is no problem...
Does someone have an idea ?
I understand that comes from the use of an agent for scheduling but I don't know how to fix that.
I'm working with ODI 10.1.3.4.1 and with DB2 Technology.
Moreover when I'm using an Oracle connection with an agent there's no problem and my variable is well refreshed.

For your questions :
1/ My Agent, which is a scheduler one, is in the same machine as my ODI client.
2/ Even my agent is in the same machine, I have the drivers on my machine and without agent it works well.
If I launch the scenario manually, without the scheduler, my variable is well refreshed.
3/ Your right, the problem is only that ODI didn't find the driver when I use the agent.
It occurs in the variable refresh cause this is the first call to DB2 in my scenario.
A thing that I can't understand is when I use an Oracle connexion all work well.
But no DB2 connexion works....
I'm actually looking in the wrapper config...
Maybe it comes from there.
I also verify that I have the classpath of the driver define in ODIParams, and I have it.
If you see something else...
