Comments on query issue

Hi experts,
We have an opption in the Portal like when we have a BI query displayed in portal as iview we will get one tab called comment  where we can enter the comments for the query, how can we set an indicator when some comments exist for the query.
for example
A executes the query in the portal and he notices some issue with the report like say sales is lower than expected and he writes a comment on that issue. so if B executes the same query he should be able to know that a comment exists for that query automatically by flagging an indicator...or something
because they have to open the comments to see whether any comments exists or not.
any option in the WAD (WEB ITEM) to display all messages.
Thanks and regards

interesting question... my suggestion would be to try creating a cell but am not sure if you can feed in data on a daily basis on a cell it might be a lil confusing and complicated for the end user to keep feeding in this information... but please keep me posted on how you achieve this...
pls email me [email protected]

  • WEB BEx Analyzer Comments on Query level

    I would like to enable BW users to create comments for some queries an enable other user to read them. System BW 7.01.
    Issues and questions:
    -how to create comment on query level - it's always on data (KYF), Metadata or Master data level
    -I would like to show the document icon - next to the query title (it's relevant for the query)
    -when I create Comments (with the button in the standard template), it's on the data level (combination of KYF) - and when I
    switch to icon display (settings) I get icons in every line. If this would be just at KYF header??
    -where can I edit, delete, ... recorded comments
    Thanks, Tom

    Hi Tom,
    1) If you want to create comments on query level, you need to create metadata documents, object type 'ELEM', object name is the technical name of the query.
    2) Document icons are always shown in the data table. Thus it will be hard to show a document icon for a document on query level. If you are using web templates, you can insert a single document item on metadata documents to display the comment on the query.
    3) Where the document is displayed depends on the document properties. If a characteristic is document property depends on the infoobject setting -> transaction RSD1 -> enter the characteristic -> tab 'general'.
    To see the document properties you can execute the query for example in RSRT (html mode) -> create a new document on any cell. On the bottom you will see the document assignment. Compare this assignment with the cell next to it. If its the same the document will be displayed in both cells. The same can be done for example in java web -> create a new document and switch to the second tab ('BI').
    4) Documents can be edited and deleted in the document browser itself, when you open the document in the executed query or in transaction RSA1 -> documents.
    Best regards,
    Janine

  • Comments are query specific....

    Dear Folks,
    As i understand that Comments are query specific. You can't create a new query with the same reference characteristics to read the comments.
    As per my business scenario i have to read Comments which are query specific.
    What is did so far:- Created  Input Ready Query where i created one column and named as a Justification which is required to displaying justification where I want the Justification to go . I Created web template by using Input ready query. Created Modification Document Content to enable Row Cell to insert Justification against Key figure. Now it is working fine. Once save justification particular cell then it is storing in Document in RSA1.
    Now i wanted to display in another query by using reference same Justification Characteristic.. how do i do this.
    Can you give views on this.
    Thanks,
    Venkat Vanarasi.

    Dear Balajee,
    Yes, it is true...
    Now i am able to insert more than 60 char length in input ready query. by using below actions in web template:
    I created on column in input ready query and named as "Comment" . I used this query in web template and created "Modifications" by using DocumentContent" Module in Analysis Web Item. by using this functionality it is allowing More than 60 char length in input ready query.
    If you closely observed what i did is Created one Column in Input Ready Query which is Query specific. This column data will hold in Documents area Data Warehousing Workbench instead of Planning Cube.
    To display comments i have created another BI query & used it in Web template , here issues is calling Comments into BI Reporting area ( which is not Input ready query).
    I hope you understand now....
    Thanks,
    Venkat Vanarasi.

    Hello, Wendy.
    I prepared a very empty sample report for you to demonstrate the problem - with this report, i hope, there is no place to discuss the shrinking of time data retrieval.
    There is one dataset, one parameter and one lookup function. The query is executed twice.

  • Web Query issues

    Hi All,
    I have created a web query and assigned it to a role. I have moved the role, web templete and the query from dev to QA was able run the query fine without issues.
    The problem I am having is when I make changes to the query and transport it to QA...when I run the query from the role menu it still shows the old query instead of the changed query.
    Can someone please explain what are the steps I need to take when I make changes to exsisting web query in dev and move to QA and be able to see the changes. What are all the objects I need to collect. Also would like to know if there are any settings on the role menu or web templete that need to be changed and also any buffers that I need to cleared??
    Any help is appriciated and will give max points.
    Thanks

    BWdesi,
    please avoid reposts - it could be that due to network issues the post got posted twice... close one of them as answered and then proceed with the other one...

  • Query issue

    I had query issue on planning layout
    Sold    mat   price   qty   amount
    100      3        5        5          25    layout 1
    100      4       10       5          50    layout2
    when I should removed  material  cal has to come  like this
    100             15        10          75
    but I getting value like
    100        15       10       150
    can u plz tell me how to slove this
    regards
    raju

    Dear Raju,
    In the query, for the Calculated Key Figure (Amount)
       Select properties, enhanced and change to:
                          "BEFORE AGGREGATION"
    It seems to be doing after aggregation, which is  default.
    it is aggregating:
        price = 5+10 = 15
        qty   = 5+5 = 10
        Amount = 15 * 10 = 150
    Good luck, BB

  • Physical query issued by Obiee when cache is on is different and slow

    When the same report runs in OBIEE 10g and cache is OFF it takes less then 1min to get results. If cache is turned ON physical query issued by Obiee is totally different and it takes 2h to get results. Has anyone experienced this with having cache on that some queries are performing poorly.
    Thanks,
    Tatjana

    We are using BI Apps Order Management and Fulfillment Analytics and all tables are cached anyway. Dimensions used are not that huge up to 40K rows. What should I check when it comes to DB query? As I said is different than one generated when cache is disabled although both have the almost the explain plan.

  • Comment and quote issue

    I found a bug in ODP.NET but I wasn't able to find a right place to submit it so I describe it here.
    Not looking for a workaround. I just hope it will be fixed in the next release.
    If a Query throw the ODP.NET Provider has parameters and contains an odd number of single quote characters in a comment you will get an error:
    ORA-01008: not all variables bound
    ----- Here a code sample to reproduce the issue:
            private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {
                string badCmdText = @"
                    -- with a single quote in the comment the command dosn't work
                    INSERT INTO TestTable ( colsA, colsB, colsC )
                    VALUES     ('aa', :b, :c )";
                string goodCmdText = @"
                    -- with a single quote in the comment the command dosn't work
                    -- with a couple it's ok
                     INSERT INTO TestTable ( colsA, colsB, colsC )
                    VALUES     ('aa', :b, :c )";
                var providerName = "Oracle.DataAccess.Client";
                using (var cn = DbProviderFactories.GetFactory(providerName).CreateConnection()) {
                    cn.ConnectionString = "USER ID=YourUserId;PASSWORD=YourPassword;DATA SOURCE=YourServerName";
                    cn.Open();
                    using (var cmd = cn.CreateCommand()) {
                        cmd.CommandText = badCmdText;
                        //cmd.CommandText = goodCmdText;
                        var par = cmd.CreateParameter();
                        par.ParameterName = "b";
                        par.Value = "bb";
                        cmd.Parameters.Add(par);
                        par = cmd.CreateParameter();
                        par.ParameterName = "c";
                        par.Value = "cc";
                        cmd.Parameters.Add(par);
                        try {
                            var reader = cmd.ExecuteReader();
                            reader.Close();
                            MessageBox.Show("Command OK","Completed",MessageBoxButtons.OK,MessageBoxIcon.Information);
                        catch (Exception ex) {
                            MessageBox.Show(ex.Message,"Error",MessageBoxButtons.OK,MessageBoxIcon.Error);

    I was searching for an answer FOREVER and finally found it (at least for me). If you have PDFlyer, that is the source of the problem. Easy fix:
    Launch Adobe X.
    Click Tools on the right side of the screen.
    Click on PDFlyer.
    Click Set Options.
    Click Start up.
    Unclick Restore standard toolbars on start up.
    Close Adobe X and reopen.
    Hope that helps!

  • FIM Reporting and SCSM Database Query Issue

    Hello,
    We have been having issues with FIM Reporting, the ETL Process for some reason seems to be failing, we further drilled down and found that there was a SQL Query running on the SCSM database Server for a very long time.
    "CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.[p_GroomManagedEntity]  (      @TargetId uniqueidentifier,      @RetentionPeriodInMinutes int,      @GroomingCriteria nvarchar(max),      @BatchSize int  )

    Can somebody advise on what this query is really about and what is its fuction, we are thinking of killing this query since it has been running for a very long time, will that hamper or cause the database to corrupt.
    Rgds,
    Abhishek.

    Vijay,
    Thanks for you reply.
    I figure out a related bug:
    Bug 12859472: Cannot browse store procedure in case-sensitive MS SQL Database
    There are two possible workarounds:
    1. Use a database name with capital letters
    2. Do not use stored procedures, but access the tables directly.
    The notes on the Bug ticket describes that the issue would be scheduled to be fixed in PS7 which is 11.1.1.8.
    Cheers!
    Leandro.

    Hi,
      You can do this with WD dynamic programming.
      You can do with domodifyview badi for accounting component /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC.
      You need to handle both views 'V_DO_ACCOUNTING' and  'V_DO_ACCOUNT_DETAIL' in the domodifyview badi implementation.

  • Shared Review comment server setup issues

    I've been having some issues setting up a comment server/repository for Shared Reviews in Acrobat 8 (for our all-Mac network). I've done extensive research on how to set up a Network Folder and a WebDAV folder (since those are the only two supported methods in Acrobat 8).
    - For the Network Folder setup, I created a folder on one of the machines on our network and shared it using SMB. When specifying that location (using smb://IPAddress/Folder/), Acrobat either 1) brings up a login screen, into which I enter the proper credentials, and after pressing OK, it says the connection could not be made, or 2) it verifies the shared folder location, but when I make comments and then choose Publish Comments, a red box appears saying something to the effect of "cannot access IPAddress, will keep trying."
    - I also tried using WebDAV. Solutions I found online mostly consisted of using the Terminal to access system files and entering numerous lines of code. I pretty much had to learn about WebDAV from scratch today in order to get the Shared Reviews process set up, but I feel like there is something I'm missing regording its implementation.
    I suppose this post can be boiled down to three questions:
    1) What is the best way to set up a Shared Review system, and how can it be done in the simplest manner possible?
    2) What am I missing from my knowledge of Network Folders and WebDAV folders in this regard?
    3) Would functionality be benefited by simply upgrading to Acrobat X?
    Thank you all in advance for your responses and help. If there is any more information required in order to provide a solution, please let me know.

    The roundcube db schema needs to setup manually. See /usr/share/webapps/roundcube/INSTALL
    Also, from your /etc/webapps/postfixadmin/config.inc.php:
    $CONF['domain_path'] = 'NO';
    $CONF['domain_in_mailbox'] = 'YES';
    $CONF['maildir_name_hook'] = 'NO';
    ..which results in /var/mail/vmail/[email protected]
    From your dovecot.conf
    mail_home = /var/mail/vmail/%d/%u
    ...which results in /var/mail/vmail/domain.com/user
    That doesn't fit together.

  • SQL query issue

    I am attempting to connect to a Progress database using JDBC and am having a few issues with my SQL statement. The code concerned looks like this:
    // Get a statement from the connection
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement() ;
    // Execute the query
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery( "SELECT * FROM pub.cust" ) ;
    // Loop through the result set
    while( rs.next() )
    System.out.println( rs.getString( "cust-code" ) ) ;
    That works just fine. Prints out each of the cust-code values. My issue comes when I try to refine the query to be:
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery( "SELECT * FROM pub.cust WHERE cust.Cust-code='100001-0'" ) ;
    or even
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery( "SELECT Cust-code FROM pub.cust" ) ;
    Both of these give me an error saying Column not found/specified.
    if I wrap Cust-code in single quotes, the script prints Cust-code on each line, not the value for it. If I escape Cust-code like Cust\-code, I get an Illegal escape character. Any ideas?

    I have never used Progress, but maybe you have to fully qualify the field names like this:
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery( "SELECT * FROM pub.cust WHERE pub.cust.Cust-code='100001-0'" ) ;
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery( "SELECT pub.cust.Cust-code FROM pub.cust" ) ;Just a thought.

  • Help needed in resolving query issue

    Hello all,
    Would appreciate any help on the following issue.
    Our process has a stored procedure, which used to take 6 mins to run.
    We are not sure what changed at what level, but now the query goes on forever( till database shuts down or we kill it), and never returns any result. Also, this is not consistent at all times. Sometimes(!!), it brings back results in expected time.
    Apparently nothing changed in the database.
    We checked and the query where it gets stuck is as follows:
    select a.x,
    b.y,
    c,z
    from a,b,c where
    b.header_id =a.header_id and c.property_id =a.property_id(+) and b.status_id in (1,0) and a.date(+)>c.date;
    It does not give any error or any mesg, when it reaches this query, and just hangs in there( Mind this was a working query since last 2 months)
    We are at a total loss at the inconsistent behaviour of this.
    Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    Aparajita

  • Acrobat 7 Pro - Comment Summary Font Issue

    We have a situation involving font usage in comments in Acrobat 7 Pro that I hope someone can shed some light on. It will be some time before we can move to version 8 or 9, so the problem is important to us.
    Here's the symptom, then I have a few basic background questions. The text in a Note comment includes a 'less than or equal to' symbol which appears correctly. The problem comes when the comments are summarized to a PDF file or printed. The 'equal to' portion has now disappeared! I first thought that this might be a font issue, but now am unsure.
    My basic questions are:
    What font is Acrobat using when a comment is created? I realize that you can set a preference for which font to use when viewing comments, but apparently not when creating them?
    When a comment summary is created to a PDF file, what determines which font is used in the summary? We have seen cases where the resulting PDF has used Arial or Tahoma or SimSun or.........
    We have had at least one situation where opening the same Acrobat 7 PDF in Acrobat 8 Pro did not exhibit the problem when summarized there. Was this a known issue that was repaired in Acrobat 8?
    Thanks much for any information you can provide.

    Hi David,
    This is a known issue with Acrobat on Mac.
    Please follow the steps mentioned in the KB : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/blank-eula-screen-appears-acrobat.html

  • Oracle Sql Query issue Running on Different DB Version

    Hello All,
    I have come into situation where we are pruning sql queries on different DB version of Oracle and have performance issue. Let me tell you in brief and i really appreciate for your prompt response as its very imperative stuff.
    I have a query which is running on a DB of version 7.3.4 and it takes around 30 mins where as the same query when run on 8i it takes 15sec., its a huge difference. I have run the statistics to analyze on 7.3 and its comparatively very high. Question here is, the sql query trys to select data from same schema table and 2 tables from another DB using DB link and 2 other tables from another DB using DB link.So,how can we optimize this stuff and achieve this run as same time as 8i DB in 7.3. Hope i am clear about my question, Eagerly waiting for your replies.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Difficult to be sure without any more detailed information, but I suspect that O7 is in effect copying the remote tables to local temp space, then joining; 8i is factoring out a better query to send to the remote DBs, which does as much work as possible on the remote DB before shipping remaining rows back to local.
    You should be able to use EXPLAIN PLAN to identify what SQL is being shipped to the remote DB, If you can't (and it's been quite a while since I tried DB links or O7) then get the remote DBs to yourself, and set SQL_TRACE on for the remote instances. Execute the query and then examine the remote trace files, And don't forget to turn off the tracing when you're done.
    Of course it could just be that the CBO got better,,,
    HTH - if not, post your query and plans for the local db, and the remote queries.
