Comments or Notes for HDV?

Hello.
I use an HV20 and shoot in HDV 24p mode. Can I log my clips, or add any metadata to them as comments or notes?
Some things I'd like to add include random notes about the location, distances, surroundings, names of contact persons, and things like that.

How come my FCX will not recognize 'my' HV30? Its brand new, new firewire, new FCX..I have read all the manuals and have tried everything that the books say...am I stupid?
IS THERE HOPE?
Thank you!

  • FCS, MacBook Pro C2D, G-Raid (FW800):  Journaled or Not for HDV video.

I have this setup (due to limited space left available on my MBP) using an external FW800 G-raid. And I would like to capture HDV media to it. I was wondering if I need to format my drive to be journaled or not. Also I have been reading that some people were saying not to use FW? Is there something I don't know about that I shouldn't be using FW?

You do not need to have your external drive set to journaled.
Firewire works just fine for the mass of users. Those that have problems tend to also use Canon cameras which have their own firewire issues.

  • [CS5] Project Manager Trimming not supported for HDV footage?

Yes, I have the licensed version of CS5 Production Premium.
The Premiere Pro "Project Manager" allows you to create a "trimmed" version of your project. That is, only the footage actually used in sequences (along with some handles) is placed in the new, trimmed project. For example, I have a project which uses only 1 second of an 11 second HD Quicktime clip.
original project folder which includes the clip = 352MB.
trimmed project folder is = 26MB
My problem is with a similar project using only a small portion of an HDV clip (M2T):
    original project folder = 232MB
    trimmed project folder = 232MB
There is nothing I can find int the Adobe help file regarding limitations for HDV files with the trim feature. This problem is not limited to CS5. I experienced it also in CS4 but resolving it was not a priority at the time. But I now have a large number of projects I wish to archive.

Jeremy, I am assuming that this is harder to solve, because it gets into Premiere and/or the mainconcept codec being used, not providing smart rendering.  You can't just take the middle of an mpeg clip without rendering.  Premiere could do this, but there would be a quality hit.  Is there any chance we will see a more sophisticated approach to mpeg inside Premiere?  And I am also interested in whether the long gop formats are/might be addressed differently from others.
Todd, here is the CS5 help file that should have this.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b1038518aef7-7c74a .html
    And it does not.
In earlier versions (I'm still CS3, and I think it was CS3 in which there was this discussion), I found that you could not work around this by creating a subclip.  In fact, the original full clip would be repeated for each instance of the subclip.
If someone adds a comment to this help entry, and it is a weak attempt, do you edit the comment so that the help file is most useful?

  • Apex 4.0 comments section not just for comments anymore?

Had a developer find a new 'feature' in Apex4 yesterday. Is this a bug? or is something else amiss?
    Here are his comments:
    Apex Developers,
I found a really weird problem and wanted to share it with you. First, some background. At the bottom of nearly every page, as you edit a region for instance, there is a place for comments.
I have always used this as a temporary place-holder for changes as I edit. For example, today I was editing a region that is a simple SQL Report with a query. I wanted to make significant changes to the query so I copied and pasted my query from the Source box into the Comments box at the bottom of the page. My assumption has always been that the Comments box was for comments...not actual code or anything that displays on-screen. That may be partially true but it does affect the way your pages run!!
I changed the query and it worked fine. OK. So far so good. However, when I went to change one of my columns to use an existing LOV it died with a "no data found" error. I chased my tail for a while and finally ended up creating a new region with identical SQL. That new one worked while the original one continued to fail with identical code. I compared the regions and the only diff was the comments. On a lark I deleted the comments out of there and the damned thing worked!!!!!!! Arrrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!

    Hi,
I think the "no-data-found" error behavior was not related to the value in the comment, instead I think you have hit bug# 9879227 on our known issues list at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/4.0_known_issues.html
The "Apply Changes" actually fixed your tabular form/report meta data problem after you removed the comment. I'm pretty sure if you add the comment back into your region the error will not occur anymore.

    Patrick

  • Missing comments and notes fields for view columns

    Hello,
I am missing the comments and notes fields for view columns in the relational model of DM. For the table columns these fields are present, so it would be nice to make this available for views too. The Designer import should be adapted too to import those fields.
    Joop

    Hi Joop,
My question is about the import of Designer for those fields. This is still not solved, even not in rel 4.0
In fact even DM 3.3 imports comments, notes and comments in RDBMS from Designer repository.  Though comments and notes are not accessible through UI they are there and you can include them in custom report.
Comments and notes are accessible through UI in DM 4.0

  • Processor speed for HDV/Blu-ray in PE9

    Hello All
    First post for me.
I just purchased Premiere Elements 9. I loaded it on my current computer, where it limps along. (2 GHz processor). However, I am in the act of getting a new box.
My question is - I see the following spec for PE9:
2GHz or faster processor with SSE2 support; 3GHz processor required for HDV or Blu‐ray
But when I look at new computers, even many expensive gaming packages do not have as much as 3 GHz. The standard seems to be 2.8 GHz.Would anyone care to comment on this specification? I am new to video processing....maybe I shouldn't worry about HDV (I am mainly interested in making videos for youtube and to burn to DVD).
    Thanks much -
    Owl Boy

Thanks for the replies....Just what I was looking for.
[FWIW I tried asking the same question in elementsvillage, but am having all kinds of mechanical problems with that forum. This one works fine for me.]
I will leave this thread open the rest of the day in case more opinions surface.
    Thanks again.

  • User Comment field available for reporting?

User Comment field available for reporting?
When doing custom reporting against requests with reportable dictionaries we have a user request to also include the user comments.  How do I reference / point to the comments field for a request?

If you are referring to the comments which are added in the Comments and History section of a requisition, this information is not migrated to the datamart and is not reportable.
If, on the other hand, you are referring to a comments field that you have included in a dictionary on the service form, that information will be available in the datamart so long as that dictionary has been made reportable.

  • Sequence settings for HDV 720p 24 fps

Okay, now that the French is gone I'm back on track, but still confused. I've captured my HDV 720p @ 24FPS footage using LumiereHD & it's separated & ready to go. What sequence settings/editing timebase should I use? I've noted people here saying DVCPro, but others said DVCPro is just problemic/not correct for HDV . . . and the Lumiere forum reccomends using the Apple Intermediate Codec, which I think people here said NOT to do . . . and there's a 720p24 option in Lumiere, but not in FCP . . . is it just like using 24p DV where you edit at regular 29.97? My head is turing into goo. Any sage advice, O sage ones? And I'm finishing on DVD, if that's usefull. Thank you!!!

Don't stay nervous for ever, you're missing out on a lot of good stuff.
    1. Repair Permissions.
    2. update to OS X 10.4.8
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
    3. update QuickTime to 7.1.3
    4. make sure you have Motion 2.1 already installed
    5. update all your pro apps with Software Update

    Still nervous?
I can't tell you what setting in FCP 5.1 to use, because I no longer have 5.1.
I would convert the HDV to DVC PRO HD 720p.
Editing in native HDV is a pain because of the frame structure.
You will end up with larger files with DVC PRO HD, but since it's all "I-frames" editing and compositing will be much, much faster.

  • Printing Comments (Sticky Notes) in Adobe Reader 9

    Hi,
I know this question has been asked several times before, but I haven't seen any resolution to this problem. Does anyone know if Adobe is working on a patch/ fix for this problem?
In any case, my question is this: how do I print comments (sticky notes) using Adobe Reader 9. The following are the responses I have already tried and that have not worked:
    1. Select "Document and Markups" in the print menu. I have already tried this. It makes no difference. The document still prints without the comments.
    2. Go to Edit > Preferences and choose the "Commenting" tab. There is no "Commenting" tab in Reader 9. You are probably thinking of Acrobat 9.
    3. Edit the registry key. Too risky, and since we are working on the client's machine, this is not really an option.
Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

    Alas,
"Commenting" is not an available category in Adobe Reader's Preferences.

This is my first time posting here, so I'm sorry, I re-read my post several times and honestly did think I provided enough information, but you're right, it wasn't the right kind. So please (continue to) bear with me, I'm really not trying to be ignorant. I honestly assumed the issue was something I was doing wrong in Bridge, nothing to do with my computer specs.

I work with jpg, psd, ai, svg, and pdf files. Most of my stacks are three different file types of the same image, usually jpg, psd/ai, and pdf.
I have not recieved any error messages
I am not having issues opening raw files, I am not having printing issues, I have listed the troubleshooting steps I have taken.
Is there any information you need that I missed? I'm trying not to be a dingus, but I'll have to ask you to be patient with me in the meantime. I haven't ever looked up half the hardware/software details that were suggested and I don't know how to off the top of my head, so I provided what I already knew how to

  • Open comment pop-ups for highlighted text (on Adobe Reader for Android)

On my computer, I use the software Docear which allows to import highlighted text and comments from pdf documents. This function in Docear only works, if the reader copies highlighted text into the comment fields at the moment of highlighting. When using a reader on a PC, the settngs can be adjusted in order that this works. (Preferences>Commenting>Automatically open comment pop-ups for comments other than notes).
It would be very practical for me to do this on my tablet (Android). However, as far as I know, this is not possible in the Adobe Reader for Android. Or is there any possibility to do this? If not, would it be possible to include this on a wishlist?

    Hi,
This functionality is not available for Adobe Reader on Android. However, we have made a note of the same and shall try to incorporate it in one of our future releases.
    Thanks,

  • Reviewer comments do not appear on my copy or download

    Hello,
I invited a client to review a .pdf file shared for review on workspace.acrobat.com, they opened the file via the inviation email, made 8 comments and published them successfully.
However, they do not show up on the copy it created locally on my machine, or when I download and open the file from workspaces.acrobat.com
My co-worker that is also an admin in our workspaces.acrobat.com account can download the file from workspaces and all of the comments show up.
We both are using the latest and up-to-date version of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
I have discovered a work around - I can open my local copy or the download from workspaces in Adobe Reader on my machine and all the comments show up.
Any ideas as to why the comments do not show up for me in Acrobat XI Pro?
    Thank you for your time,
    Khara

Facebook apparently has their site coded poorly for tablets with touch screens. Try using the Facebook app. It is not perfect either but it is better than view in a browser lately.
