Commit not reflected in multiple instances

Hi,
I have 2 instance myapp1 and myapp2 for the db myapp. The version is 10g. When I run a procedure to insert multiple records and commit in one instance, it is not reflected in other instance for atleast 2-3 minutes. I believe it should happen instantly.
Can anyone throw light on this?

Are you on 10gR1 or 10gR2?
On 10gR1, max_commit_propagation_delay(as sybrandb said) parameter can affect the delay of commit propagation. You need to check this parameter or browse metalink for bugs.
On 10gR2, this parameter is deprecated and commit is propagated without delay. So you seem to on 10gR1. If not, you need to check metalink for similar phenomenons.

Hello all,
I have an oracle 9i database -> 9.2.0.8.0.
On this database we have a table that has close to 40,00000 records.
When we are doing an insert to this table as :
insert into <Table1> select * from <Table2> where date> sysdate - 1/24;
commit;
it says 70 records inserted.
When I check for the destination table these 70 records have not come in, I once again ran the above query followed by the commit statement.
and then rechecked the records but still they were not available.
I disconnected the session and connected back again and found 140 records, I deleted these 140 records and then ran the above query again and this time it got reflected, I was able to see the 70 records in the destination table.
I am not able to find out what might be this strange behavior.
Can anyone please put some light into this issue or give some suggestions why this might have occurred.

Breadcrumbs not compatible with multiple instances of a topic in TOC; any solution?

My master page places a breadcrumb on every page in my project.
When I add a topic to the TOC in two or more places, and I compile the project and click the second or the nth instance of said topic in the TOC, the TOC always "jumps" to the first instance. I cannot look at the second or the nth instance of that topic in the TOC. (Of course, the text is identical in all n places, but I want to TOC to stay in the branch that the user expects to be.) BUT IF I TAKE THE BREADCRUMB OUT of the master page, the multiple instances of a topic behave perfectly. If I cannot use breadcrumbs, I'll have a huge problem. Can this be fixed?

My guess is that the breadcrumbs are a red herring. Normally what causes the bizarre jumping around is the fact that the project has been configured to synchronize the TOC with the displayed topic.
One way past this is to never link more than once to a topic in the TOC. Of course, this causes an issue if you need more than one TOC entry point into the topic, no? So there are a couple of ways past it.
Use redirect pages that point to the desired topic. This way the Redirect page synchronizes with the TOC and you still see the topic.
Use an Inline Frame (IFRAME) to display the topic inside another page. Similar to the Redirect technique, but instead of loading another page, you present a page with a window that displays the topic.
Hopefully something here either helps directly or sparks a thought that does.

Logic for Deletion of a row is not reflecting in DEV instance

Hi ,
I have a method in AM attached to a Search screen which has logic to delete rows from 3 different VOs.
1. VO for selecting the rows from Details table.
2. VO for selecting the rows from Master table.
3. VO for holding the rows of results tables.
The results table displays rows from both master table and details table. On selecting a row for delete in results table , the remove() method is being called to remove rows from the three VOs in the same order mentioned above.
This logic works perfectly in my local setup. The commit was initially not getting recognized. So , we included the line "JDBC\:processEscapes=true" after which delete and commit started working fine in my local setup.
But the same code does not work in the DEV instance. Can anyone please suggest what can be done in such a case.

As we did registration again now for the problematic server autoreaction method is now visible in RZ20
But it is not picking up the alert for the scenarios. Also found other 2 server is also giving error while connection test below is screen shot.
I checked the log file. Foundthe agent lock is not getting updated.

Edited/Recompiled JSP not reflected in OC4J instance

After starting OC4J to run my JSP project, if I edit and make/build a jsp, I won't get the updated version if I go to the page without first stopping the process and restarting OC4J. Am I missing something to get it to deploy on the fly if I edit it? It's a bit cumbersome to have to stop and start OC4J everytime I tweak a JSP page a little.

Doing the right-click-run option will not work for me as I'm using a Model 2 pattern for my JSP development. The JSP has to have been served by a controller servlet before being valid. And I definitely know it's not a cache issue, I can see a log being generated everytime I refresh the page, but no matter how many times I make/rebuild/make, the changes don't show up. And besides, I thought the right-click-run option essentially starts a new OC4J instance, not continuing the previous version, isn't that right? I'd like to maintain state of the current session and not have to end up logging back in to my app everytime I tweak a character on a JSP page.
I know other, much simpler, JSP containers are able to do this, like Tomcat running in JBuilder 6. There, if I edit a JSP page, recompile it, and access it from a browser, it will show up with the changes. Perhaps someone at the JDeveloper team can clarify this for me?

(1) I am trying to get the data from a database table and import into a text file.
(2) If the record set have the data then it runs ok
(3) when the record set not having any data it is giving the below error

Adobe reader XI not responding, multiple instances in the task manager is XI junk?

Hey everyone!
I need some help, I have about 175 computers that im working on and a hand full (more as the days go on) of them are having a problem with adobe reader XI.
Here is what is happening.
If im online pulling up a pdf from a finance company we use the pdf will begin to open (within the browser) and then you will get the blue loading bar
and then it gets almost to the end (somewhere between 80% and 99%) and then it will just freeze up or just display a white page where the pdf should be. It is doing this across a bunch of sites not just one or two.
The other thing i have noticed is that there are multiple instances (10 - 20) of the adobe reader xi in the task mananger if you close all them out some times it will start working some times it wont.
Here is what i have done.
1. removed adobe XI
2 reset the browsers
3 changed the settings with in reader XI
4 used the removal tool
5 tried a different browser
Im runing out of options!

Multiple instances not starting using Windows services

Hi,
We have two Oracle instacnes installed in same oracle home. They are not starting using windows 2000 service manager.
I have to go to svrmgrl and set the ORACLE_SID environment variable to startup each instance. How can I make them start through windows Services instead of manually doing it.
Is installing multiple instances in same home a good idea?
These multiple instances are not part of paralell server.

I have checked the registry keys and everything looks ok.
ORACLE_instance_AUTOSTART is true
ORACLE_instance_PFILE is correct
ORACLE_instance_SHUTDOWN is true
ORACLE_instance_SHUTDOWNTYPE is i
Above values are right for both instances. I even have recreated the services using ORADIM. I can start both instances by going to command prompt set ORACLE_SID and start the instance using SVRMGRL. But they'll not autostart when the machine is rebooted.

I have a Problem, after the installing from Acrobat Testversion and acrobat reader in version in "all Combination" 8 an 9.
I get this misstake information "you can not use multiple instance of Program at the same time" if I want open more then 1 .pdf.
If I have no pdf open, but acrobat/reader so i can´t open with the same Misstake.
I have deinstalled and installed, Allways I bekame the same information. I tryed all things to clean and know i don`t know forward.
Important: by Drag an Drop in the Acrobat Reader it is going, but by direct click on the pdf i get mistake.
Maybe, you know what I can do!

Installation of both Acrobat and Reader in the same Windows machine is not advisable. If I were you, I would remove both completely and then reinstall the one you want to keep.

Multiple instance SQL Server not working between VM's

I'm working with SQL Server 2014 running on Windows Server 2012 R2 Azure VM and having problems connecting to the SQL Server instance from a Windows Server 2012 R2 VM running IIS. The connection string and setup is the same as I have been using for several
years. The main difference is I am now running multiple instances on the SQL Server. Firewall is configured properly, SQL is in mixed authentication mode, configuration is identical to all the servers as ones configured in the past. Would there be anything
in the Virtual Network or in Azure that needs configured?

Is this VM deployed in a Virtual Network? If so, make sure to use static IPs, so that, in case the VM is rebooted, the IP remains constant. If not, this may be the cause of your problem, the IP will change when the VM reboots.
If you've tried to connect to the VM from outside the Virtual Network, then you need to create an endpoint for the SQL port. This needs to be configured for each instance of SQL Server on the VM.

Adobe After Effects Multiple instances does not working parallel using Scripting

i am uploading after effects template to my site, user came and upload his desired contents.
i update the template using scripting with user's contents and then render video so user get video with his uploaded text/images etc.
its working perfectly when i update a single template at a time but when multiple users come at the same time then they need multiple instances of after effects
so i open multiple instances of after effects by using "-m" with after effects shortcut
after looking at windows task manager there are both instances but the problem is
only once instance continue and the second one stop, after completion of first instance the second one still in pause status
i need 2,3 4 or whatever instances to work parallel without pause/stop
i am using windows server 2008 R2 with XAMP installed

Problem with multiple instances of shared printers being installed on client computers when the spooler service is started

Hello,
We have Windows Server 2012 and clients using Windows 8. We've been having some printer problems for awhile now that I haven't been able to figure out for the life of me. The main problem is the fact that printers are installed on computers automatically
once the drivers are installed. The side-effect of multiple instances of each printer showing up is very annoying but I suspect fixing the initial problem will resolve this secondary one.
Here is the rundown:
We add the shared printers on logon to the clients using the GPO thus installing the drivers locally.
Whenever the spooler on the client is restarted with the drivers installed, all of the
shared printers that were previously installed get duplicated 5 more times (for a total of 6 instances of each shared printer) on the "Devices and Printers" page. This happens
all the time.
Removing them only fixes the issue temporarily, as soon as the spooler or computer is restarted, it seems these shared printers are somehow found on the network and the duplicates return.
Two of these printers are located on different clients, installed locally and shared while the other three are all installed on a server and shared through it. The issue is the same on all of them.
Cleaning the spooler completely (registry and files from C:\system32\spool) fixes the issue temporarily as well since, as soon as the drivers are reinstalled, the issue occurs again.
I've tried many things (disabling the GPO, editing the GPO, printer shares, registry, etc.) and searched tirelessly online for a cause and solution but I'm stumped. Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this problem and how to resolve it?

Update #1: I just tried adding the NoNetCrawling option in the registry found in this article -> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320138/en-us
I couldn't find the same for Windows 8 unfortunately. I also tried disabling network discovery and all other sharing options to no avail.
Update #2: I tried isolating the computer to a different subnet and restarting the spooler and, sure enough, the issue didn't occur. This proves that the issue is network share related. Also, as soon as I change the IP back to the regular domain
subnet one, the multiple printer instances re-appeared again.
Update #3: I just tried doing the same thing but on the server where the printers are installed and shared and, sure enough, despite being in a different subnet, the issue occurred. This leads me to believe there is a setting on this server at fault.
Question is, which one?

We have deployed a brand new Active Directory domain for a customer. ALL the servers without exception are Windows 2012 R2 and all clients are Windows 8.1 32bit VDI clients.
The issue that we have is around network printers.
We are deploying 4 printers from a Windows 2012 R2 Server via the print management/Deploy Printer and assigning that to a GPO. The printers are deployed to the Computers which should mean that the users get all 4 printers which they then should be allowed
to set their default and personal settings for that printer.
Our printers are deployed like this:
1. Created security group
2. Assigned VDI computers to the security group
3. Created GPO to reflect security group
4. Modify GPO to do security filtering based on computer group membership
5. Deployed 4 x printers through Print Management to the GPO on a per machine basis
However, on the users Devices and Printers screen we are not seeing the 4 printers. For some users
they see duplicates of all 4 printers so e.g they can have upwards of 8 or more. Other users have no printers displayed whatsoever. The next time they log off or restart they then have a different amount of printers displayed.
If they try and set the default then it will set and the next time they check the default may have moved to another printer even without logging off or back on.
Now, where this gets strange is within an application such as MS Word 2013 or Notepad if they use the file and print menu the printers will be listed, even if the user has no printers displayed in Devices and Printers. If the users selects a printer then they
can then print OK.
If we check HKCU\Printers||Connections then the CORRECT 4 printers are showing as to what is being deployed via the GPO so I know that the Windows 8.1 terminals are receiving the correct printers from the GPO.
To try and correct this over the course of the week we have deployed the printers via Group Policy Preferences to the user and then the PC to no avail. Currently we are using the Print management\Deployed Printers to deploy all 4 printers to the computer via
the Computer GPO.
I believe that this issue is related to the display somehow in Devices and Printers rather than a GPO or print server issue as we can see via the registry the clients are receiving the 4 correct mentioned printers as shown in the registry.
FYI: We only have around 30 users and all users are getting this problem. All users are receiving the same GPO's and have the same few apps installed, Office 2013, Adobe Reader etc.
What we want is for the computers to receive all 4 printers. All users should be able to use all 4 printers but the user should be able to select their particular default, depending where they are located or what they are printing that particular day. Their
particular default should persist after reboot. (We have 2 x Copiers and 2 x HP Laserjets) All users have redirected documents and desktop but the rest of the profile is on the VDI and persists after their reboot. The profile is not roaming as the user is
assigned a particular VDI.
After a week of scratching our heads with this we are open to suggestions and any would be appreciated.
We have tried following the issues on this thread to no avail either as they still return.

Symptom
Scheduled reports that are supposed to run once a day, run multiple times.
Duplicate instances are being created.
Environment
BusinessObjects Enterprise XIR2 SP5
BusinessObjects Enterprise XIR2 SP5 + FP5.x
Reproducing the Issue
A report is scheduled to be run on a daily basis - this is a Recurring schedule.
Normally the report runs once a day, at a particular time.
After Daylight Savings Time change, the report runs at the specified time, but immediately after the successful instance, another instance is spawned.
Many more instances spawn after each instance completes.
Cause
This is a known issue: ADAPT01318487. This issue is because of DST and how our code handles this change.
Resolution
There is currently no known fix for this issue. There is however a script that can quickly resolve the problem.
The issue it seems is related to Daily recurring schedules.
What this script will do:
it will run a query to display all your DAILY Recurring jobs
you will have the option to choose your jobs and reschedule them by 1 hour
you will then highlight the same job and change them back by 1 hour
by modifying the schedule times, you are modifying the schedule itself and this will keep the issue of duplicate instances from occurring.
Exact Steps to Complete:
Stop the Job Servers.
Double click on the .hta file.
Change the System Name to that of your CMS name.
Add the Administrator's password.
Click Logon.
Click List All Recurring Instances.
Select All.
Make note of what it says in: Schedule Selected Recurring Instances: Should be 1 hr earlier.
Click Reschedule Selected Recurring Instances.
Choose All instances again and change Schedule Selected Recurring Instances to 1 hour Later.
Click Reschedule Selected Recurring Instances.
Now start your Job Servers.
The issue should not occur again.

- The multiple spawned instances issue ONLY affects XI3 SP3+ only. For XI3 SP1 and SP2 all Fix Pack levels this is not an issue as it was introduced as a problem in SP3.
- 1568239 notes the Java version and can apply to all O/S environments and is updated to reflect that.
If you are located in Europe you can also apply the patches in advance of the DST change to avoid the problem. If you are in Americas at this point utilizing the clean up scripts for this year is the approach needed to clean up the spawned instances and reschedule the existing schedules.

Then you haven't followed the method correctly. That error is
addressed specifcally on that site, as that error is the main
reason for the site. Did you read the note about the "known
bug" because of the one port that is not included in the
sample file?
If you had tried the first method (set up a second IP and
started both servers with the command line option providing
an IP) there is no way this error could happen.
If you followed the second method, and specified a different
port for every port listed (including the one that is not in the
sample file per default) then there is, once again, no way that
this error could happen.
The error happens on the second server because it is trying
to bind the same port, using the same address, as the first
server, which is impossible if you fully implement one of the
two methods described there.

"cacheHostInfo is null" and Add-SPDistributedCacheServiceInstance : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I am working on a standalone install Sharepoint 2013 (no Active Directory). I found newsfeed feature is not available and checked Distributed Cache service is stopped. When start it “cacheHostInfo is null” is returned.
I checked the Windows service “AppFabric caching service” is stopped because the default identity “Network Service” not work. Then I change the AppFabric service identity to use “.\administrator” (which is also the sp farm administrator) and the service can
be started.
However the “cacheHostInfo is null” when try to start Distributed Cache service in central admin.

I tried to run the script but it return error:

Can you deploy Active Directory as installing without is not a supported installation scenario - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2764086.
