Communicating with an Axis 205 network camera

Need to create a simple application so that I can contact my network camera. I have the API provided by Axis Communications. The camera supports HTTP 1.0, and the specific syntax for requesting an image is : "http://myserver/jpg/image.jpg". Need to request the image from Java, storing it before converting it to RGB.
Any ideas?

You'll need to install the Java Media Framework (JMF) and register a custom plugin to handle the HTTP-based MJPEG stream from these cameras. I've written a library that uses the Axis API v1.1, but I'm not sure if it will work with your specific camera since you don't list a model number.
Check it out here:
http://jipcam.sourceforge.net
jipCam provides a Java Media Framework based datasource to read from different Internet Protocol based video cameras. A computer with Java, and the Java Media Framework, can install jipCam as a JMF protocol handler to allow an IP-based camera's video to become available for processing in JMF. This library is intended for use by developers seeking to build applications using IP-based video cameras on a Java platform.
You guys can use this library to integrate the MJPEG stream from the Axis camera with JMF to get the camera images as Buffer objects in JMF. There are numerous examples in the source code.
best luck,
Jason Thrasher

  • Axis 205 IP Camera with NI-IMAQdx

I try to grab pictures from my Axis 205 IP Camera.
On http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/D69E915887A2391086256B9700564D7C its stated that Axis IP Cameras are supported.
NI-IMAQdx 3.5 (part of Vision Acquisition Software November 2009) added the following new features/fixes:
Support for Basler and Axis IP cameras
My Axis 205 IP Camera is on version 4.05
Im using LabView 2011 with RealTime 11 and NI-IMAQdx 3.8.1
The target of my Work is to get the Axis 205 to Work with the Robotics Starter Kit 2.0
but now im only trying to get pictures from the camera to my computer.
I can access the video stream and the camera configuration with the Webbrowser and with the Axis camera Tool. But I cant find the Camera with MAX nor can I add it to a project.
    What can I do?

Hmm MAX does not show any NI-IMAQdx Devices. And I can't even add one. But I definitely have NI-IMAQdx installed.
Do you have an idea what the problem could be?
Thanks for the tutorial but I think the Axis 205 is not a GigE camera. It's just a common ip camera. I can access it with my browser.

  • Axis 2100 Network Camera

It has dealt no with network camera Axis 2100?
    I am complicated with activex.

If I understand you correctly, you would like to acquire IMAQ Images from a network camera that has an ActiveX control. This is possible if the control outputs images as 2D arrays. If so, you can use the IMAQ ArrayToImage.vi to convert these 2D arrays into IMAQ Images. From there you can take advantage of our IMAQ Vision functions.

  • QT Streaming from Network Camera?

    Hi everyone!
We were wondering if we could do QT streaming via network cameras? We purchased a few AXIS 206W network cameras. We realised that they only produce MJPEG movies. Is it possible to do QT streaming with these cameras? Could you recommend some tools/documentations regarding this issue? Thank you.

As your trial has proved the start/stall playback means you've reached the bandwidth limits of your device. Lots of reasons why.

  • Is there anyone who can recommend a network Camera that works with OS X10.9

I just upgraded to Mavericks and love the OS.  I just updated my printer to an HP that is compatible with Macericks and it works wonderfully!  Now I am looking to add a network camera that allows multi camera viewing and can be viewed on my Iphone or Ipad or Macbook, etc.  Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on what to try.  All the major brands that have high ratings are compatible with 10.6 or 10.7, but I see no mention of 10.9 - any suggestions would be great!

For what it's worth, I purchased the Axis 207W. Indeed it worked with Safari via Bonjour.
The setup took a while to figure out, but wasn't any more difficult than setting up a wireless router.
With things set properly I can view the camera from anywhere on the Internet and get e-mails sent when motion is detected by the camera.
All this and it works well with my Apple set up (laptops and Airports).

  • Panasonic network cameras no longer work with new versions of Firefox.

I have been viewing my Panasonic Network camera, model BB-HCM381A using Firefox for several years.
Starting with Firefox version 15.0.1 and again with 16.0.1, 16.0.2 and 17.0.1 the browser begins to display the streaming video, but then drops the signal after maybe 20 seconds. Refreshing the page brings back the image for another 20 seconds, and then drops it again.
All previous versions of Firefox before version 15.0.1 worked great. Now I have to use Internet Explorer exclusively. It would be great if you could fix the problem.
Example of viewing the streaming video can be found at www.bandon.tv, which may require installing a plug-in from Panasonic.

I see the same happen, but it takes longer. It is possible that the server gets too many visitors and drops some of them. A right click and "This Frame > Reload This Frame" also works. I also notice that frames get blocked (it skips seconds), so you may need a faster server.

  • Getting a "Your network preferences prevent us from communicating with the server" error in dw 5.5

Hello, lately i noticed dw 5.5 can't seem to use browserlab, it says "Your network preferences prevent us from communicating with the server"
I can connect to BC and other ftp servers no problem, I've also turned off my firewall to be sure and it still won;t connect.
The only info I found on this error is a tip on how to turn off browserlab, which in turn gets this error, Not sure why you would wnat to shut the feature off, but no tip to turn it on. The tip on editing the registry doesn;t help because itsyays to change the registry key to 0 and all communication of adobe products will be turned off, however the key does exist and is set to 1, so I can;t even try that tip in reverse to enable, itshould be communication already.
Any help would be appreciated, I am just competinga  site and was about to check it in all the browsers, an incredibly useful and time saving feature, but I can't now.

Phil, the only screenshot I've seen from you is the error message (and I can't seem to view the others you just posted), so apologies if I told you something you'd already tried. We still think there should be a solution to this, it's just that debugging issues this way can be a little difficult, so please bear with us.
At this point our best guess is that there is a registry setting that got changed that is causing the issue for both of you. We have been able to repro the issue on Windows XP by setting the following 32-bit registry entry to 0. The issue was fixed by changing it back to 1. We've also tested on Windows 7 and verified the same thing with the 64-bit registry entry. Apologies if I'm suggesting something that any of you has already tried, but no details were provided about which registry entry you checked or what article you were looking at.
    From the CSLive team:
"To my knowledge the only way to get that error message is to disable CSLive in the registry. The Customer does not mention the exact article or reg value that he is looking at in his post but it should be:
    For 32-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\AdobeOnlineDefault.
    For 64-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\AdobeOnlineDefault
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/846/cpsid_84665.html
He should delete the AdobeOnlineDefault entry in the registry and try again. (he may need to stop and restart CS55Services Manager or reboot machine)."
Let us know if this fixes the issue for you or not. As with any change to the registry we recommend you make a backup first and proceed carefully.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Network Camera connection with Live encoder

       Hi,
Is it possible to connect network camera with Flash Media Live Encoder rather than USB camera.
    Thanx in advance.

Yes, you will be able to publish to FMS. Platform independence of FMS is not related to wrting the filter. Please keep following points in mind before writing the filter:
    1. Writing the filter will simply list the network camera as a device on your system, so that FMLE can access it.
    2. Your camera should provide raw frames (RGB, etc format) for FMLE to encode. Even after writing the filter you may not be able to capture and encode using FMLE if the camera doesn't provide raw frames.
Please let me know if things are still not clear.

  • Error Communicating with Camera- Upload from Panasonic to iMovie

I am trying to upload the footage from my video camera, a Panasonic PV-GS320. I connected the firewire, and I open iMovie, but all that happens is that there is blue screen and in the middle it says "Error Communicating with Camera".
I thought maybe the camera had to be off, so I turned it off and the screen changed to say "Camera disconected or off". When I turned the camera back on, it gave me the "Error Communicating with Camera" message.
My dad was able to upload footage onto his laptop the exact same way I'm uploading into my mac.
Maybe I'm doing something completely wrong. I just want it to upload smoothly. Can someone help?

    Hi
Testing Camera and Cable is important - very common origin to problems.
    Especially the Cable (fortunately)
I had a serious accident some Years ago. FW-connector on the back of that Mac
and I plugging in the FW-connector 180 deg wrong. Shouldn't go but sorry
to say did and without a gigant of effort.
Result: Killing two miniDV Cameras, one video bridge and one hard disk.
    Tricky:
    • Cameras behaved normally in all aspects except import/export to iMovie
    - blue screen reading Camera connected
That's why it is essential to know that it works OK on another Mac.
Here comes my list: Use it with care. No guarantie from my part - just sharing
    my thoughts.
    Capture/Import problems:
    a) File-Vault is on - turn it off
    b) don’t Daisy chain camcorder - external hard disk - Mac
    (except for some Canon-Cameras)
    c) Slow hard disk (fragmented: repair permissions, repair hard disk, use a faster hard disk)
    d) Something is occupying the CPU/System, like other programs, Internet etc.
    e) Bad RAM-chips
    f) drop outs on the miniDV-tape - make a camera to camera copy on a tape which You have previous recorded with a time code (dummy recording).
    g) FW-wire cable OK?
    h) Break in the time-code on the miniDV tape (make a camera to camera copy on a tape which is prerecorded with nothing/anything so that the tape has a time-code from beginning to the end)
    i) defective camera TRY IT ON ANOTHER MAC !
    j) remove bookmarks in iMovie project
    k) Do You have desktop pictures or screen-savers active? Try turning them off.
    l) Updating - OS has to be a clean install - not an update eg from X.3.x to X.4.x (no good)
OS X.4.0-2 needs a clean install to work (I use X.3.9)
    m) Updating QT and/or other updates (to 7 needs v6 to be cleaned out first)
QT v.7 needs a clean install to work (I use 6.5.2)
    n) Have you tried the crazy fix:
Open GarageBand, play a few notes, close it and reopen iMovie. The camera should import fine now. (Sue/SDillini)
    o) NEW (from Sue/SDillini):
    Trash the Font Collections Folder.
    These files are found:
    /YourUserName/Library/FontCollections folder.
Drag the folder to the trash and launch iMovie. iMovie will create a new FontCollections folder containing the files it needs when it next opens.
    p) or thrashing the com.apple.imovie.plist file (Rodney Brown2)
    q) - Other programs interfering like Flip4Mac
    r) - Third party or old plug-ins
May be You find some help in my list:
    Mac:
    • hardware
◊ Slow hard disk (fragmented: repair permissions, repair hard disk, use a faster hard disk)
◊ I wonder how full your Mac's hard disc is. (David Babsky) A near full hard disk prevents Import/Capture.
10% free is recommended + space for Import/Capture + work space (about 4 to
5 times the amount needed for Capture) eg on a 200Gb hard disk You need 20Gb + (one hour tape)
    13Gb + 50Gb = about 80 to 90Gb free space.
◊ Disconnect all other ext devices (FW and USB) exept Camera (and keyboard + mouse) and try again
◊ Rebuild Desktop (Tech-tool or fingersetting during start-up) (System up to 9)
◊ Reset PRAM (Tech-tool or keyboard finger settings alt-cmd-P-R ??)
◊ Reset PMU ( Restting the PMU...is the the alt-ctrl-shift and powerbutton shortcut? ) (Sue)

◊ Running iDVD at the same time as iMovie can cause problems: (Lennart Thelander)
◊ If You also have installed FinalCut Express/pro there are possibly problems with this
◊ Other programs that interferes like Flip4Mac
    ◊ Codecs added to QuickTime
◊ Old plug-ins to iMovie or third party alike
    iMovie:
◊ remove bookmarks in iMovie project
    ◊ Trash: com.apple.iMovie.plist and com.apple.iMovie3.plist : files (Xinram)
    Connection:
◊ don’t Daisy chain Camcorder <--> external hard disk <--> Mac
◊ FW-wire cable, is it OK?
    ◊ USB/USB2 is NO GO !
◊ Cheque FW connection at Camera end. OK? (Adam Smith1)
◊ Cheque FW connection at Mac end. OK?
    Camera:
◊ The Camera is set to VTR ? (not as when You ”film” record with it)
◊ You may be need to go to the Camera menu and select digital out.
◊ defective camera TRY IT ON ANOTHER MAC ! (if the A/D chip in the camera is harmed then it will say in iMovie that the camera is connected and You can forward resp. backward the tape but there will be no picture or sound just the blue screen).
◊ connect camera to power-line, not battery-only....(Karsten Schlüter)
◊ Canons don't allow daisychaining on firewire, make it "only device" on port (Karsten Schlüter)
◊ Cheque the menu on Your Camera so that it communicates with the FW digitally to Your Mac
◊ Date and Time is correct on Your Camera ?
    Tape:
◊ Drop outs on the miniDV-tape - make a camera to camera copy on a tape which You have previous recorded with a time code (dummy recording).
◊ Break in the time-code on the miniDV tape (make a camera to camera copy on a tape which is pre-recorded with nothing/anything so that the tape has a time-code from beginning to the end)
◊ If You recorded in LP-mode (90 min on a standard 60 min tape with 12-bit sound). Try to change in iMovie pref. to import but not as individual clips. If this doesn’t work You have to make a Camera to Camera copy with the receiving Camera set to SP-mode and 16-bit sound.

    NEWS: Jerry Harris writes:
I know that in a lot of the new Sony HD cameras, iMovie requires that you turn i.Link Conv off. I would look for a similar setting for your camera. This setting has to do with shooting a movie in one format, and using the camera to import as a different format. For instance, if you shoot HD footage and have i.Link conv on - the camera will send DV to the computer etc...
So, case in point: look for a setting on your camera that has to do with the video format and see if that helps.

  • Error Communicating with Camera (only during variable speed playback)

I have my camera, a Sony DCR TRV480 plugged in via firewire and am playing on the camera and watching on the monitor. This works fine unless I use the "variable speed playback" option on the camera to slow down the video. Then Imovie goes blue and gives me the "error communicating with camera" message.
My videos are way too numerous and the details of fine motion too important for importing and then playing back on slow-motion to be a practical option, so please do not suggest that.
What I need is to see in Imovie what I see on the Cameras LCD.
Any ideas if its a problem with Imovie or related to limitations of firewire or the camera output or what?

Obviously, when you slow down the video, the camera isn't sending a DV compatible signal through Firewire. Since iMovie is designed to handle only DV, iMovie goes blue.
There is nothing you can do about that.
You may try "JES Deinterlacer", which produces better slow motion than iMovie. It's free.

    Hi there,
I know this is the FCP group and this is an iMovie issue but wondered if you folks who are more advanced users might have some insight on this. I have a Panasonic DVX100B which continually gets "error communicating with camera" after a few minutes in iMovie HD 6. Works fine then has error with blue screen. iMovie works fine with isight and with small canon camcorder.

  • LabView and Axis network camera

    Hello,
I am using LabView 7 to display/save images from two network cameras
(AXIS PTZ 2130). I use the ActiveX controls provided by Axis.
It works, but the development is painful because the Methods and
ActiveX controls are not well documented by Axis.
Does anyone have some experience in it ?
I am currently using the IAxisCameraControl class to control the camera motion,
but I am also interested in managing the events
("OnNewImage"...) provided by the CamImageEvents class.
    Thanks!

    IAxisCameraControl Class?
    I found just IAxisMediaControl class...
How can i have CameraControlClass? or is it the same?

  • No communication with camera

I have had my Speedlite 580exii for a little less than two years.   It has rarely been used.  I am a DJ and I sometimes take pictures.  The flash does not seem to be communicating with the camera.   The contacts are clean.   I know it is not the camera because my 220EX works fine.  I have been on the internet trying to find a solution.  Did Canon know about this problem?  Is that why it is discontinued?  It is a fairly new product.  Any solutions?

The 580EX II is an excellent unit and was discontinued only because it was replaced by a more advanced unit (600EX-RT) and not because it had issues.
For starters make sure the Speedlite is pushed all the way forward into the hot shoe and the slide is locked into place.  If you need to remove the rubber boot (in case it is bent and interfering with the contacts) you can do that too.
Honestly, it just sounds like it is not making a good connection.
