Communication with embedded shockwave

I have a sprite behavior attached to a sprite that is
populated by shockwave .dcr files, based on user selection. The
sprite behavior instances a popup up menu on rightMouseUp that
allow selecting a different 2d shockwave .dcr. animation by
changing the member of sprite property. Very simple, elegant and
works quite well.
Now I am trying something new. I'd like to mix in a 3D movie.
Unlike the 2d animations, this 3d animation has embedded behaviors
and triggers to allow control of the 3D-- specifically rotation on
left mousedown.
Problem: With the menu popup behavior attached to the sprite
in the main movie, the mouse events do not seem to be passed to the
embedded movie-- thus the rotation does not work on the 3D.
If I remove the popup menu behavior in the main movie the
rotation works fine, but then the other animations can't be
selected....
I know there must be a way, and it may even be pretty simple.
However, I've never done any movie to movie communication, so I'm
not sure how to go about this or even which method to attempt
first. After searching the forum and googling, I'm wondering if
this is a job for the connection object. Also I've been reading the
docs on the "tell" commands, and wondering if that may work.
Any help or guidance to steer me in the right direction would
be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

You cannot access an OPC server from a non-Windows machine; this includes a FP-2000. The best suggestion I have is to create a VI for the host PC that reads the FP-1000 channels and writes them to the datasocket server. Then, the FP-2000 can read from and write to the datasocket server.

  • DataSocket communication with embedded FP2000 ?

Is it possible for a vi embedded in a FP2000 to communicate with an OPC server through, for exemple, datasocket ?
In fact, I want to read a channel of a FP1000 witch is connected to a computer with my embedded vi but it seems impossible to embed the DataSocket vi or the Tags with OPC ones...
    Thanks for help.

  • Communicating with embedded swfs

So if I have several external swfs embedded in one big one, in what way can I communicate between them?
    Specifically,
-the main swf needs to know when buttons have been pressed in an embedded one, and it needs to tell all the other embedded ones about it.
-the embedded swfs need to intelligently resize and shuffle around each other, while keeping their coordinate origins in the top corner.
How do I go about this?

As long as by "embedded" you mean you load the swf files into thee main file dynamically, then there is hope for whatever you have planned.  If by embedded you mean you import them into the library and plant them in the main file's timeline, that won't work.
The event listener(s) and event handler function(s) are coded into the main swf.  The loaded swf's are coded to displatch the events that the main file has listeners for.  So the loaded swf's simply shout out when they will, not caring who hears it... which allows them to compile without dependence on the main file.
So in the loaded movie, whatever triggers the need to call the main file into action would dispatch an event as follows...
dispatchEvent(new Event("eventName")); // name the event as you like
To add the listener in your main swf, listen for the load complete event on the Loader.contentLoaderInfo that is used to load the file.  In the complete event handler, add the listener for the event on the loaded swf.
    function loaderCompleteHandler(e:Event) {
       MovieClip(e.currentTarget.content).addEventListener("eventName", eventHandler);
    function eventHandler(event:Event):void {
        trace("loaded swf event triggered");

  • How can I stop embedded shockwave files from resizing in the exported file.

    -Operating System: Windows XP
    -Office Version: 2007
    -Flash Player version:
-Xcelsius Version and Patch Level: 2008 (2?)
I have a problem with embedded shockwave files resizing when they are exported.
I have built a dashboard which needs a video to loop in the corner.  When I embed this video as a swf file using the image component and linking to the swf in question there is no problem.  I can export the entire as a swf in itself and the video plays in the corner fine.
However when I need several videos each appearing on different 'pages' within the dashboard the problem arises.  I can set the various shockwave videos behaviour to appear and disappear depending on the page selected.  But, instead of appearing in the size that I have set the embedded video to they have grown.
So instead of having a neat little video looping in the corner I have a huge video obliterating the rest of the dashboard.
any help would be gratefully heard.
    Thanks

You cannot do this natively - .NET does not natively support
    AX controls.
You can achieve this with CFCOM
    http://www.odysseysoftware.com/products_cfcom.asp
    or with OpenCF.NET
    http://www.opennetcf.org/ .
    OpenCF is free.
Alternatively, it is possible to build your own COM wrapper
    using C++ but I
don't know how to achieve this.

  • Possible to view presentations with embedded clips  on the ipad from an external wifi  drive?

    Hello,
first of all I am happy to have joined this community, my name is Chris from Germany.
I am wondering if this setting is possible:
I have bought an external wifi drive (Seagate Satellite Goflex) as well as the iPad4.
I am giving lectures (powerpoint and keynote presentations containing lots of embedded video clips).
Now I would like to show these presentations with my iPad connected to the Wifi drive.
You have to download a special Seagate App on the iPad to be able to see the data on the external wifi drive - I have managed to open the powerpoint files in the App (unfortunately keynote files are not supported by the Seagate App) but when I open them with keynote or goodreader the embedded media will always be removed.
Is this the end of the story or are there any solutions (i.e. with other hardware devices or software)?
Have a nice New Years Eve and thanks in advance,
    Chris

    yes and no ...
    I have figured that out:
First of all: you can`t just view presentations on an external device without importing them into your iPad (at least when you plan to show slides with embedded clips) - goodreader, filebrowser, dropbox ... just show you "static" slides.
When you import a ppt-presentation into keynote all the hyperlinks, embedded clips ... are gone - no chance.
But ... in keynote you are able to "embed" video clips when you drag and drop them directly into the slide alowing "copy video into the document" as well (that is "vital") - the files are getting larger but you don`t have to add a clip when you transfer it to another device (i.e. the iPad) - they are "fixed" in the document..
Now seagate goflex has the problem that you just can`t open/view keynote presentations - but there is a solution:
hacksatellite firmware. When you install that you can go into keynote, activate WebDav, import a keynote file from the external drive, edit it and send it back to the external drive - so: import (can`t live without that), show or edit the presentation, copy it again to the external device and delete the presentation in the iPad (to save storage) is the way you can get the optimum from the iPad at the moment.
Correct me if there is any other more comfortable solution.
    Thanks for your reply Daniel,
    Christian

  • NI-8452 SPI communication with texas instruments ADS1278

I'm looking for some help with setting up a Labview VI to use SPI communication between an NI-8452 and a texas instruments ADS1278 A/D converter evaluation board. From all of the sample VI's I have seen the LabVIEW routines vary widely for different models of Texas Instruments ADC's. My issue is how to deal with the DRDY pin on the ADC; it is an active low output from the ADC and signals when valid data is ready for retreival.
There is a DRDY pin listed under the SPI stream configuration property node, but I am not sure how to set this up as it is a seperate pin from the standard SPI 4-wire communication (SCLK, MOSI, MISO, and CS). Also, this ADC does not use the chip select (CS) line. I would like to set the program up so that an interrupt is triggered when the DRDY pin pullls low and enters a standard SPI stream routine.
Any information on how to deal with this DRDY signal would be greatly appreciated.

I highly recommend saving the NI-845x Hardware and Software Manual if you are looking in using SPI communication with the 8452, as it is extremely helpful. We can see on page 387 (Chapter 14, section 4), there are descriptions for the extra SPI pins. The DRDY pin is configured as an input using GPIO1, so P0.1 for the 8451 and DIO1 for the 8452.
Also, I would recommend posting any future SPI communication or NI-845x questions to the Automotive and Embedded Networks forum. This way you'll get exposure to other users that are more familar with what your looking into.
    Hope this helps!

  • Firefox having issues with embedded media websites

I actually have two issue which maybe the same issue.
    1.
Certain sites that I regular navigate to that have some sort of embedded media, the media does not display. As an example on the site http://odb.org/, in the top left corner is a player which displays in Chrome and IE and displayed in Firefox prior to 4.0 but now only displays a white box but no play button or volume control. Other websites with different media types are blank. I have a site with code that displays an embedded interactive speaking character and the portion of the screen is should display remains blank.
    2.
Second issue, maybe related is while the Firefox 4.0 appears to be fast. On the same sites with embedded media or with complex pages (probably has stuff I don't know is there), the page attempts to load and you see the waiting for or transferring message in the bottom left corner. It takes a while and then if you attempt to click anywhere on the page you get the "not responding" message but the page eventually loads possible with missing content. Heck I have this problem accessing the Firefox support page.

Nope. Went through that list before and nothing. For kicks, I try it all again. I turned off every add-on but Shockwave and that didn't work either. Also, on the Adobe Flash test page the Flash portion of the screen does not display when I use FireFox but does when I use Chrome, so I couldn't check the whole hardware acceleration setting anyway. I had reboot issues when I was forced to upgrade to Firefox. I am wondering whether my download is somehow corrupt. And if you were wondering, Safe mode didn't work either. When's the next Firefox patch. funny thing is everything worked well in Firefox 3.6 and below, so either the update to 4.0 or the download process broke something.

sir i am using datasocket read ,i am communicating with java but my problem is that bcz im using while loop to see if value has changed my labview consumes all the processors time ,sir i want a event like thing so that while loop is not in continuous loopHi Sam,
I want to pass along a couple of tips that will get you more and better response on this list.
    1) There is an un-written rule that says more "stars" is better than just one star. Giving a one star rating will probably eliminate that responder from individuals that are willing to anser your question.
    2) If someone gives you an answer that meets your needs, reply to that answer and say that it worked.
    3) If someone suggests that you look at an example, DO IT! LV comes with a wonderful set of examples that demonstate almost all of the core functionality of LV. Familiarity with all of the LV examples will get you through about 80% of the Certified LabVIEW Developer exam.
    4) If you have a question first search the examples for something tha
t may help you. If you can not find an example that is exactly what you want, find one that is close and post a question along the lines of "I want to do something similar to example X, how can I modify it to do Y".
    5) Some of the greatest LabVIEW minds offer there services and advice for free on this exchange. If you treat them good, they can get you through almost every challenge that can be encountered in LV.
    6) If English is not your native language, post your question in the language you favor. There is probably someone around that can help. "We're big, we're bad, we're international!"

  • I get an error message when trying to install windows 7 on my macbook pro. The message says "windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. I don't have anything connected to my computer. How do I fix this?

I'm trying to install windows 7 on my macbook pro. I went through the process of bootcamp telling it to install windows 7. Once the windows boot manager started an error message came up. The error message says " windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. I don't have a usb connected to my computer. I  am using windows 7 professional install disc. I  can't figure out what i am doing wrong. The same message keeps coming up over and over. Am I doing something wrong or is it something else?

Well, shucks, i just spent almost 30 minutes trying to find your model user guide to explain it better, I guess they never got around to making it.....
I would just borrow another Windows disk and try installing it again and if it does it again then you might take it to an Apple Store and see if one of the "Genius' " can figure it out.
Make sure your internet is enabled and click on your blank desktop and at the top of your screen is a Help menu option, enter PRAM and it should give you a list of things relating to Pram. It may take a few seconds to list anything as it has to connect to Apples severs first. It should list the things you may have to fill back in when your done.
"P-ram" stores some common information that is used in the background, your date, time, startup disk, etc, that you don't have to re-fill when you restart, it's a little different for each computer.

  • Web Intelligence: Save Report as PDF and with embedded HTML code

    Hi all.
Sorry but I'm not able to find any post about this matter, please feel free to provide links if you know existing topics about this problem.
We created a beautiful report with HTML5 code embedded into a blank cell and we are now trying to export it in a printable format (e.g.: PDF or HTML).
As you know (as per manual information) it is not possible to export a report with embedded HTML code and keeping it in the output (cell with embedded HTML code is rendered blank).
My question is: is there a known workaround or an alternative solution to export the report and keep its content?
Print screen is not a valid option :-P

  • Why a pdf document with embedded fonts can be copied but is not searchable in pdf reader

I am writing a pdf files with embedded subset fonts. As required, I am including the ToUnicode and CIDSet objects. To test, I created a simple PDF with two Hebrew characters. I can select the two characters and copy to the clipboard, and paste it properly into another application such as Word. But I am not able to search for a word containing these two characters. Adobe Reader (or Acrobat) displays the message that the word was not found. So in essence, I have created a PDF document which can be copied properly, but is not searchable. Any idea what I might be missing when creating the document?
Additional information: 1. The file in question is a minimal file with just two characters. I have tested with many such files in many different languages including English. None of the files are searchable. 2. Curiously, if I search for the letter 'e', Adobe reader highlights an incorrect word, even if the letter 'e' does not exists in the file. 3. Adobe acrobat is also not able to search within this file, however when I save the file to another disk file, the saved file now is searchable. I confirmed that the major objects such as the font-file, ToUnicode object, CID object, and the font description objects are the same in the saved file. However, one of the font object is brought up closer to the top of the file. 4. FoxIt is able to search these files properly.

I figured the app might have that ability - considering you can add text, highlight, add a signature, annotate and draw - so my thought was why not delete a page, or rearrange for that matter?.. That should be an option, this way we don't have to export to one of the other apps to delete or rearrange..
    Thanks for the help, Bernd.
BTW if anyone is looking - PDF Max can do all of the above and delete and rearrange. With PDF Splicer you can delete and rearrange as well, but it has no other features.
And as for Steve Werner whose comment was deleted after it got to my inbox, it is much more than a Reader, as you can plainly see from the amount of tasks the Reader app can do above.

  • When I forward an HTML email with embedded graphics to someone, it forwards it as plain text.. this is driving me batty.. how do I forward such mails INTACT??

I have the latest Thunderbird installed on a new 64-bit Winblows Eight netbook.. fantastic program, but one problem is driving me absolutely batty, and after using the latest Thunderbird for weeks, I simply can't figure out how to fix it..
I'm on a lot of mfr. and other kinds of mailing lists, like eBay watch list alerts, and so on.. these are not s p a m (although I get plenty of that.. who doesn't).. but lists I WANT to be on..
Many such emails from those mailing lists are in HTML format with embedded graphics.. I'm not talking about graphic file attachments, but embedded graphics which are coming from the senders' servers, and appear AS a graphic in the email.. sometimes such emails are one huge graphic with hardly any text.. all well and good..
However, here's the problem.. when I want to forward such an email to a friend, Thunderbird ALWAYS formats it as plain ASCII text.. I know this because I look in the "sent mail" folder, and can see that it has turned an HTML email with embedded graphics into plain ASCII text..
I absolutely can't figure out how to get it to forward an HTML email with embedded graphics INTACT, so the sender receives it looking the way it looks when I receive it from a mailing list, or an advertiser, or eBay, or whoever..
Is Thunderbird capable of forwarding an HTML email with embedded graphics INTACT?.. If so, how / where do I turn on that capability?..
If the capability to do this isn't built into the program, is there an add-on I can install that will give it that ability?..
I am not new to computers.. but this really has me stumped.. I want to put Thunderbird on my 32-bit Vista laptop and stop using its horrible "Windoze Mail" program, which I've been using for years, and is slower than snot, and has all kinds of other problems..
So, assuming whoever reads this FULLY understands my question, PLEASE tell me how to get Thunderbird to have the ability to forward an HTML email with embedded graphics AS-IS, so the receiver(s) I forward it to see it exactly the way I see it when I receive it.. if that ability is built in, please tell me how to turn it on.. if that ability is not built-in, please tell me what add-on I need to install to give Thunderbird this capability.. if Thunderbird absolutely can't forward an HTML email with embedded graphics at all, please also tell me that..
A virtual box of candy and a dozen long-stemmed roses to anyone who can give me a solution that works..
    Thanks..

Dear Mr. Toad (my all-time favorite ride at Disneyland ;-) ..
Thanks so much for your detailed reply.. my netbook is in the bedroom, turned off.. I (so far) only use it in the evening, in the bedroom.. I've saved your response, and will try your suggestions, and let you know if they solve the problem I described. I really appreciate you taking the time to post such a detailed reply..
I can't answer your Thunderbird "configuration" questions, because I'm in the living room, using the crap Vista laptop, on which I plan to install Thunderbird, and then take Windoze Mail out in the street and drive over it a few times.. I'll get back to you one way or the other, and let you know if your instructions solved the problem, or not..
I don't understand why Thunderbird "out of the box", so to speak, simply doesn't forward HTML emails with embedded graphics, (like Outlook Excess, and Winblows Mail do).. without having to go through those steps. I personally HATE HTML email, but over the years, it's become more and more prevelant.. so it's a problem I must fix..
    Thanks again..
