Communicator Plugin Stopped being recognised

Hi all
The Garmin Communicator plugin has been working fine on Safari up til now but it just suddenly stopped being recognised on Safari.
It can be tested here:
http://www8.garmin.com/products/communicator/test/
It is recognised on Firefox and Camino.
It's working in Safari on my wife's laptop.
We're both using Safari 4.0.2 but the problem started while using 4.0.1 (it did work under that version previously)
I've reinstalled the plugin and still same problem.
If I open a new user account the problem persists there also.
I've repaired permisssions too.
I'd love some advice as i'm bewildered
Thanks in advance
M

No luck
Deleted:
~/library/safari
~/library/preferences/com.apple.safari.plist
/library/preferences/com.apple.safari.plist
and no joy
Any idea where the plugins are located and where they are referenced by safari?
The plugin itself is clearly ok as: works on my wife's machine (same setup) and works under firefox and camino on mine.
So it's a system level safari issue i think...
Help...!

  • IPOD Touch has stopped being recognised on my computer

My iPOD Touch has linked to my iTunes sucessfully for a year or two until last week when it stopped being recognised. It is recognised when I plug it into my daughter's computer, and when I did this the iPOD software successfully updated.
Also my other daughter's iPOD Nano is recognised on MY computer.
I have re-installed iTunes and updated all USB drivers but problem persists.
The iPOD does appear as a connected peripheral on my computer.
I have tried re-setting/restoring the iPOD Touch. It has only gone into Restore mode a couple of times and iTunes starts downloading. However, nothing happens subsequently except an Apple Mobile Device has stopped working message appears.
    Can anyone help?
    John

I have now removed and re-installed every piece of Apple Software on my laptop. I assume this would result in the drivers being re-installed.
However, when I plug the iPOD in a message comes up 'Installing Device Drivers'. Then a message comes up that they are installed successfully, but it does also say 'Searching folders for preconfigured drivers...'. After 10 mins I assumed this did not mean anything and closed the window.
It is not convenient for me to check the other computer's drivers. Anyway, the iPOD used to work on this computer. The only thing I have done on this computer re device drivers is to start using a USB mouse (which installed drivers) and I also checked them all for updates. Only the Intel ones updated.
Needless to say the iPOD is still unrecognised in iTunes.
    Any further help much appreciated.

  • My iPad stopped being recognised by Windows 7

My iPad 1 recently stopped being recognised by Windows 7. It makes the bing-bong noise when I plug it in and the 'Not charging' notice comes up, but the 'Apple USB device' no longer appears in Device Manager and iTunes (latest version) does not recognise it, so I can't sync or backup. It used to work perfectly, but stopped working about a week ago.
    My details:
    iPad 1 64GB 3G
    Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
    iTunes 10.2.2
    Things I've tried:
    Different USB ports
    Different cables
Hard-restarting the iPad and the PC
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hello,
I followed all the steps in that article and it still doesn't recognise my iPad.
The symptoms are that when I plug the iPad into a USB port, Windows does not find it at all. Usually you get the Windows 'bing-bong' sound effect and Device Manager refreshes itself as it finds the device, then you'd expect to see 'Apple Mobile Device USB Driver' in the list under Universal Serial Bus Controllers (I think, from memory).
However, Windows detects nothing at all. What's even stranger is that the iPad is clearly receiving some power as I get the iPad 'plugged-in' sound effect and the battery status changes to 'Not charging' as I would expect.
So I've removed iTunes and all associated software, restarted, reinstalled from a fresh copy from apple.com...now I'm out of ideas. I've tried two USB cables and four different USB ports.
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • My ipod nano 2nd generation stopped being recognised in itunes. using windows 8, all our other ipods are fine

My ipod nano 2nd gen just stopped being recognised in itunes. I'm using windows 8.1..and not had any problems with ipod touch 5th generation or nano 7th gen.
The ipod charges up as indicated by the battery icon but not being recognised at all in itunes or as a connected device or drive on my PC. was working fine the day before then just stopped. I can still listen to the ipod but obviously not load on new songs as not being recognised.

Make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and get it serviced. Sounds like the headphone jack has failed.

  • CD/DVD drive has stopped being recognised by Satellite A100-01G

I have a Satellite A100-01G but the CD/DVD drive has stopped being recognised by the machine.
I have Vista ultimate as the O/S.
    Please help
    Thank you

    Hi
Did you check in the device manager if the CD/DVD drive appears correctly?
    Please check this!!!
As further action I would recommend removing the CD/DVD drive from the device manger a reboot the notebook.
The Windows OS should recognize the new device (ODD) and should load the drivers again.
Then access the registry and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    and reboot.
    Good luck

    hi
My ipod 30gb video is no longer being recognised.
    symptoms:
I plug ipod into the usb cradle
    drive appears in 'my computer'
    itunes 7.2 loads automatically

    drive dissapears from 'my computer'
nothing updates and itunes diagnostics say connection has failed. all usb hubs reported in diagnostics are ok.
    I have tried:
    1. resetting ipod
    2. windows /manage/settings/ipod checks
    3. system restore
    4. driver removal of ipod
    5. firmware update removal in itunes directory
    6. ipod lead instead of cradle and other USB ports
    6. everything else suggested on the help and support centre
the ipod works fine and I can see/hear all music and video on it and the itunes library matches the ipod
device manager sees the USB device as (0)ipod and says it is working fine

athlon 2200/gigabyte mobo/1gb men   Windows XP   Apple docking station with IR for ipod

Thanks! But I actually figured it out! Right after I said something about the driver, I went into device mangager. Sure enough even though it did not show up as a drive letter the device manager said is was installed and working.
So I deleted the device out of device manager. Restarted and plugged it in. Although I go some weird error. It found the IPOD and now Itunes sees it.
I believe that killing the process would have done the same thing as you stated.
Thanks to all for taking the time to answer these issues. It beats the apple store or tech support.

  • Ipod min has stopped being recognised

My ipod mini was installed on my windows XP and tunes bought/downloaded from itunes. Six months later and computer has stopped recognising ipod. Message says to "reset" or "restore" and only the restore option (with subsequent loss of songs) can be activated.
Need suggestions to ensure that original PC recognises ipod.
Posible cause of problem: ipod was connected to a Mac to download songs from a friend's itunes (no songs bought).
    Thanks!

  • My phone has stopped being recognised by my computer help??

It's been a couple of days since I've synced my iPhone 5 and I've just tried and my pc doesn't even recognise my phone. I've tried rebooting my phone, using different USB ports and I've reinstalled iTunes but still no joy. I'm running windows 8 on my PC so I'm guessing thats the reason but I'm stumped as to what to do. Can anyone help??
    Cheers

Well, Microsoft and Apple have not said they are fully supporting Windows 8, but as you know, it will work. You may need to uninstall iTunes again, but make sure you do it in accordance with this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 if you didn't do it that way before.
You can go into iTunes, Edit, Preferences, Devices and Reset the sync history. Other than that, there isn't much that can be done. The USB drivers for the phone are contained in the iTunes download.

  • USB Keyboard just stopped being recognised

    Hi
    I have an iMac 2.8 i7 that is running os x 10.6.8
I have an Apple USB keyboard connected to it and everything has worked fine for several years
I booted up the iMac today and was greeted by the Bluetooth Keyboard Setup - no wireless keyboard connected message and "Check cables if you are expecting a usb keyboard."
I have tried rebooting and using different USB ports on the back of the iMac but no luck
I have tested each USB port with USB pen drives - each port recognises these devices - so the iMac ports appear to be working for other devices
I have tested the keyboard on my MacBookPro - and it works fine
I have tried resetting the SMC (powered down, unplugged, held power button for 15 seconds, plugged back in and rebooted) and the USB keyboard is still not working.
I haven't installed any new software or updates recently.
Any advice would be much appreciated
    Thanks in advance

Reset the SMC and PRAM, it would not hurt to reset the SMC 2-3 times back to back. Post back after trying, the directions are in Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets

  • My Generation 7 iPod is not being recognised by either my PC or my laptop.  My older 2gb iPod IS being recognised though.  How can I get the Gen 7 iPod to be recognised?  This is a recent issue, as it was working fine before.

My 7th Generation iPod has suddenly stopped being recognised by my PC and laptop.  I have updated all operating systems for Windows and iTunes, yet it still will not be found.  I have had the Generation 7 since June 2013.
I have plugged in both my 7th Generation and my 2nd Generation iPods (7th first, then 2nd a few minutes later on.), and the 2nd generation was picked up instantly.
I have checked to ensure that it is not a problem with the USB port, and that is recognising and installing drivers as necessary, so before I take the iPod back to the store, is there anything else that I can try to get it to be found.
Both iPods had run out of charge if that helps.
    Thank you in advance.

At present I have no power to the Gen 7, so need to get some power to it I think.  I pressed the buttons as you suggested, but nothing is showing up at this point.  Thank you for your response as the more I can rule out before  I take it back the better I think.

  • My nano 6th generation ipod is not being recognised by windows. have done all step recomended but no joy?

My ipod nano has suddenly stopped being recognised in itunes.Have uninstalled itunes and doenloaded again and installed latest version of vista, also installed google chrome. Also reset nano but still will not work.

Can't see your iPod in Windows Explorer or iTunes? Check Device Manager first (right-click on My Computer, choose Manage, and then select Device Manager). If no devices appear in the Windows Device Manager, then keep reading.
Note: If this started right after you updated your Windows XP computer to Service Pack 2, look here first:
    Microsoft KB #893249
    SYMPTOMS
After you install Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) on a Windows XP-based computer, the Device Manager window is blank or some devices no longer appear. If some devices do appear and you remove one device, all devices are removed from Device Manager.
    CAUSE
This problem occurs because of a problem in the FixCSS.exe tool. When you install Windows XP SP2, the installer runs the FixCSS.exe tool to correct some mild corruptions. However, the FixCSS.exe tool does not delete the temporary subkeys in registry keys. Therefore, the temporary subkeys confuse the Plug and Play manager and many devices are incorrectly enumerated.

  • One answer to ipod not being recognised in itunes

My 20gb ipod recently stopped being recognised in itunes but was still recognised in "My Computer".
Having tried alot of the suggested solutions (more than once)nothing seemed to correct this. I resigned myself to being one of the many having a "half working" ipod.
However my dad tried the following and it worked !!!!! I'm now a happy bunny again with fully working ipod.
Here's what he did with the ipod connected to the PC:-
Go into "My Computer" and right click on "homes ipod". Click on "Properties" then click on "Tools".
Select "check now" under "Error Checking".
Under "check disk options" select "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" and click "start".
This took about 15/20 mins to run and seemed to "free" the ipod. "homes ipod" then appeared back in itunes.
I very much hope this also helps someone else.

I tried what you suggested but it didn't seem to work for me. When i started the error check nothing happened, the bow for checking errors closed immideiatly after i clicked start. Did you do anythig else before checking the drive for errors, like put it in disk mode?

  • Iphone is not being recognised in itunes

Hi there!  My phone has stopped being recognised in itunes, I've done everything recommended by Support, has anyone any ideas please....
    Thanx

Have you tried using a different USB cable. Also, be sure you are not connecting the device to a USB hub, connect it straight to the computer.
