Company VPN not working with Home Hub 5

I switched to BT infinity a month or so ago, but have only recently tried to access my company VPN through the service (VPN uses Citrix Xenapp). It used to work (with my previous ISP using a different router) just fine.
I can connect to VPN okay, but when I try to launch a virtual app (Windows 7) I get the usual pop-up asking if I want to run the app - I answer Yes but then.... well nothing happens. It's the same in IE11, Chrome and Safari. No error or warning messages, just nothing,
VPN works fine from other locations (just not home - which is where I need it!).
Have searched around and found other postings like this:-

(Tried that and it hasn't worked).
Tried switching off parental controls - but that did not good either.
Also tried factory reset of the hub (not that I've changed any settings) with same result.

I'm working on a wired PC in home office, so wireless isn't an option.
Can anyone help? It's like something is blocking the application but no messages etc.

Do you connect via a website or via a client? If it's via a client then try adjusting the MTU on the network interface on the device that's connecting to the VPN try for example 1200. If that doesn't work I'd get your support guys to talk to the software vendor as I'd guess you aren't the first person to have this problem.

I've a IP phone that was provided by my employers so that I can work from home when required. It was working perfectly for years - and then all of a sudden the other party cannot hear me (but i can hear them).
It was working on the HH5, the only change to my setup was that I was upgraded from Infinity Option 1 to unlimited.
When I connect the phone it connects to a server in work which then dowloads config and then provides a VPN into work so that its just like i'm sitting at my desk. all connects ok, but as I say when a call is placed, the other party cannot hear me but I can hear them.
I've did the following:
1. Factory Reset the Router
2. Factory Reset the phone
3. Tried 3 different phones and also a softclient application on my computer.
4. Checked that my Hub IP Address is the same as my Public IP Address (Which it is)
5. Disabled the Web Address Help.
Phone gets allocated an IP Address by the Hub.
My Boss has the same setup (and Broadband provider) has no problems with his setup.
I've contacted BT twice - 1st time I was put on "Hold" and stayed that way - basically the call placed on hold until I hung up.
2nd time I was told that it would cost me to get this resolved. (even though it was working in the first place.)
I was wondering if anyone could help? The setup is that I plug the phone in and it works. (well it did!)
I didn't have to make any alterations to my hub.
I'm in close contact with the company who provide our company with phones, and they have explained (in detail!) their findings and how they belive that either my HH5 or the broadband is causing the issue.

Re: Wireless printing stops working with Home Hub ...

I have had to fix a few clients home networks and was perturbed to find there is a pattern between the new home hubs and existing wireless printers.
I too found no logical reason why the connection would drop or go twilight zone. I searched after fixing a couple of these sites and found no conclusive methods from the more senior site members posting suggestions.
I agree that it is a bug with the HH firmware or a setting that you should be able to tweak is not available to band-aid over the underlying issue.
My working method was to manually set the channel in the router from the auto setting. Pinging and communications seem to flow both ways and the printers work straight away once the settings have been applied.
I would love to see a proper response from a BT representative as with some areas of the U.K there is only BT as an option (for broadband) and by ultimately having a HH router that behaves in this fashion is just poor. I think BT need to recognise the issue and investigate from some customers home networks to understand the issue.
Any update that sheds some light on this is welcome!

I have a HH1 with a mixture of hard wired and wireless connections. The hard wired ones all have static IP addresses, however I do not use the DHCP server on the home hub, as that is a function of one of my wireless access points.
My printer is connected by USB to my server, but I never have any issues communication between wireless devices, and Ethernet connected ones.
Did you delete the printer from the home hub DHCP table, before giving it a static IP address, to avoid any conflict?
Maybe its an issue with the HH5? You will have to see if anyone else is having problems.

VPN not working with the Arris TG1682G

I have the Arris TG1682G and it seems impossible to get my IP-Sec or SSL based VPN's to work at all. Also, doesn't work with the xfinitywifi connection that is offered for customers without access to their router. It does work fine with the neighbor's Netgear router. It also worked fine with my previous ISP which was Verizon DSL. I see no one else complaining about this model of gateway. I only see people complaining a couple of years ago about a similar device. Comcast hasn't been helpful with a few phone calls. I don't think they understand what is going on. Maybe the equipment is too new. Is there another model that I should ask for instead of this one that will work? I do have Triple play so the phone goes through the box too. I have an old cable modem and cheapo router that I used to use but this gateway is giving me the best wifi signal I have ever gotten. I am hoping to be able to keep this thing.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that this might be the way to go, myself but I had a few questions about how to connect/configure the other router. It has a Wan port on the old router, do I connect to that? Will the gateway still retain its good wifi signal and same speeds despite the older router being slower/older? Which router will be giving out the DHCP addresses? Can I just disable the wifi on the older modem? Does the machine that needs the VPN have to be connected to the old router or can it get the wifi signal from the gateway? Sorry for the barrage but whataver you could answer might be helpful.

IPad 1 running IOS 5.1.1 not working with home WIFI, but everywhere else

I have an iPad 1 supporting 3G and WIFI running IOS 5.1.1 and up to now it has worked great. We recently had the cable modem in the house upgraded and the box included a better WIFI system than we had before. After installation, all the laptops in the house worked great except my iPad. One of the kickers is that when my wife came home with her iPad 1 running IOS 4, it worked great too. And when I've gone to a hotspot, it also gets connected well.
The symptoms are that the WIFI menu will see my home network as an option. When I select it, I get a spinner and the left side bar will indicate that it is using that network, but the spinner never completes. The upper left will mostly stay as 3G and will occasionally go to a WIFI setting, but nothing will connect. If I tap on the details, I usually don't get DHCP connection and get an IP address. Once in a great while, I can connect up and have access, but it is incredibly slow and usually fades off in a minute.
I have tried turning off the iPad, resetting network settings, telling it to forget the network and try again and reset the iPad. I have removed all security from the router, reduced down the encryption to WEP like the old wireless router and still nothing. Of course the Cable company says it is the iPad problem and I tend to agree.
My next step is to erase and start over, which I do not wish to do if I don't have to.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

IPod touch not working with home network?

I know this question has been brought up dozens of times before, but I couldn't find a working solution in any other posts so allow me to explain my situation.
I got my touch a few months ago, it was working fine with my unsecured home network. Now, the ipod claims that is connected to my network, however it will not load webpages or anything else that might make it seem like it has an internet connection. When I go to Safari, the page attempts to load for what seems like forever and then comes up with the same message everytime claiming that the server has stopped responding or that the server cannot be found. It does, however, work perfectly with the free Wi-Fi hotspots that I connect with in businesses with no problems at all.
I have tried:
Resetting Network Settings
Resetting iPod (factory restore)
Resetting my router
Renewing the Lease on my iPod network connection
Turning the iPod's Wi-Fi on and off
Turning the iPod off and back on
Changing the DNS number to (4.2.2.2,4.2.2.3.)
I'm not sure if this is significant, but when I am "connected" to my network according to my iPod, it says I have full signal. When I am disconnected and my default network is just on the list of networks, it says that there are only two bars of signal strength.
Please help, I don't know what is wrong with this thing.

Have you updated your router firmware lately? If not, please do so.
DNS is usually provided by your ISP. I would use that unless your other devices can't reach the network either. A good alternative is OpenDNS which you can find out about at opendns.com.
When you think you are connected, tap Settings > WiFi > then the little blue > next to your network name. What type of IP address are you seeing? If you see that your IP address starts with 164, then you really are not connecting to your network.
You might want to look at a couple of router settings. What is DHCP set to? (this issues your IP address) and What is MAC address filtering set to? (if this is on and your iPod MAC address has not been entered into the router table, you will not connect). DHCP should be on, MAC address filtering off. Additionally, look at what your default DNS is set to. Most routers have a box to check saying "Use ISP" for DNS.

Cisco VPN Client Application did not launch after upgrading to Lion OSX v10.7.
I read https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3192535 that suggested rebooting in with a 32bit kernal.
Hold down the '3' and the '2' keys while rebooting to reboot in 32bit mode.
I did this and now my existing Cisco VPN works fine.

I have been successfully using the built in Mac OS X IPSec client on Lion 10.7.2 for a couple months now. I have no need for the Cisco IPSec client anymore and to boot into stupid 32-bit mode .
Not sure if the issues you guys are having but I followed this guide and it works perfectly. Most of my customers I only have a .pcf file for, which of course, I cannot use to figure out the groupname and password....until now...

Email not working with home network

If this is answered elsewhere, my apologies.
I have a first generation iPhone, which is set up on the wireless network at work and also at my previous apartment. I had no problems receiving e-mails whether over Edge or wirelessly. When I moved into a new building and set up the router, both the phone and Apple Mail on my MacBook refuse to receive e-mail from either work or personal Gmail accounts, though I can browse the Internet at my heart's content on either phone or MacBook and check email through the browser. If I take the phone off the wireless network, it pulls e-mail off the Edge data network just fine, and it continues to work seamlessly at work. I tend to just keep it on Edge now, which isn't ideal, but I get the e-mails that way. I've had a similar problem with random hotel wireless connections as well.
Anyone experience a similar problem or have a solution? I'm using a Motorola Surfboard router at home and a WPA passcode. Thanks!

I have been able to surf on Safari over the wireless network on both the phone and computer, and the phone does pull email on the work wireless network and previous home network. Gmail works just fine on the MacBook too, but Mail doesn't want to pull in messages at all.
I actually played around more with my router (Motorola SBG900) and when I turned the firewall completely off, the e-mail finally pulled properly. Is it worth just leaving the firewall off, or can I adjust the settings so that it will allow the phone to access the network to retrieve mail? In the advanced settings of the router there are a ton of "Port ID's" and depending on Motorola's vague "High" "Medium" "Low" Firewall settings, it allows inbound access to different Port ID's. home sharing does not work with new mountain lion update. Does anyone else have the same issue. Updated all computers in my home, deauthorized and reauthorized each computer. turn off home sharing and turned it back on. don't know what else to do..please help...

Our Apple TVs continue to lose connection ever since installing Mountain Lion on the host computer. The only thing that fixes them is to quit and relaunch iTunes, which only works unti the ATV goes to sleep. If a movie is paused for more than a few minutes and the ATV goes to sleep, pressing play again on the remote is greeted with "There are no movies on this computer" or "Turn on Home Sharing."
If we stop a video on one ATV and attempt to resume it in another room, the error begins again. The other ATV can't connect until iTunes is relaunched.
My guess is that it has something to do with the new [annoying] security settings. But I still haven't found a fix other than restarting iTunes everytime we want to watch something from our downloads. Fail.

Itunes not working with Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Itumes 10.6.3 version will not work with Vista Home Premium. I have a 32-bit operating system. I'm not sure what to do next. It appears in trying to update it deleted the old itumes, as I can't find a copy of it when I search the computer.

Okay. That will be the source of the iTunes problem. (Without a properly working QuickTime, iTunes won't work correctly.)
Checking on things that can cause QuickTime launch errors now.
Have you at any stage installed any Codec Packs, any copies of the programs QT Alternative, QT Lite or Storm Codec, or any media converter programs that can convert files into QuickTime readable formats?
(I'm checking on these things because depending on the versions of the programs/codec-packs, these can install earlier versions of QuickTime componentry on a PC, which can interfere with the running of a higher version of QuickTime.)

Regarding the script error, if I'm reading the script correctly, it is related to accessing your Flash cookies directory. It seems the publisher's support forum is not currently available for searching, but that might be a good next step.
In the meantime, could you check whether the script has the correct location for your Flash cookies directory? If you can't access Tool > BetterPrivacy, you could check here:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste '''bpr''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) There should be a bolded setting named '''extensions.bprivacy.DataDir''' which looks approximately like the following:
C:\Users\''yourWindowsUsername''\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia
Do you have a similar value? If you paste the path used by BetterPrivacy into a Windows Explorer window, does it open? Also, click a couple levels in the folder, can you see:
Flash Player \ #SharedObjects
If the value is wrong, right-click the wrong value and choose Reset. BetterPrivacy should update the value the next time you try to access it.
If the value is blank, you could try inserting a sensible value and see whether that helps.

Converted home videos to itunes not working with ipod touch

So I finally was able to convert some home movies to itunes but now they will not work with my ipod touch. I get a error message saying "can not be played on this ipod". I also can't get the movies to work with my ipod video (classic) either, how do I fix this? And yes there is enough space for the videos.

HP Laserjet 4 plus not working with Powerbook G4 & 10.5.8

I have been using a Powerbook G4 running 10.4.11 with a HP Laserjet 4 plus without any problems. Last week I updated my G4 to 10.5.8. To acheive this, I purchased a full retail 10.1 DVD from Ebay installed it then updated to 10.5.8 using Apples Update Software feature. I believe all the features of my computer work except printing. Previously I have been using an apple wireless network without any problems.
Now when using 10.5.8 I have tried this:
1) select system preferences
2) then select print & fax
3) then click on the plus sign to add a printer
4) the window that shows up that says default, fax. ip, windows, bluetooth, apple talk, more printers across the top of it.
5) In this window the are two Laserjet 4 plus machines listed. One is listed with Appletalk and one is listed with Bonjour Shared. I only own one machine. I have tried selecting both of them separately and each time the same problem continues to happen.
Each time either of the Laserjet 4 plus printers are selected the "Print Using" pull down menu begins searching for new drivers. The gray circular animation just goes round and round and eventually does not do anything. Obviously something has not installed correctly. Or there is a conflict somewhere that I have not been able to figure out.
I have downloaded and installed the HP Laserjet and Edgeline print-only.mpkg from HP's website. The problem still exists.
A family member in my household is using an Intel MacBook Pro running 10.5.8 with this same HP Laserjet 4 Plus on the same bonjour shared network without any problems. This being the case, I am confident the old HP 4 Plus printer will work with 10.5.8 using an apple wireless network.
Any help would be appreciated.

The HP 4 printer has a JetDirect card in the back of it. The JetDirect card has a 10BaseT ethernet which I connected with an ethernet cable to an airport express base station. The express unit communicates with the main airport unit in my home.
Many years ago I worked for a company that rebuilt macintosh computers and hardware for resale. I rebuilt this HP printer from spare parts and added the JetDirect card at that time and have not had any major problems with the unit until now. It had no problems or printing errors when I was running 10.4.11.
I neglected to mention that after the printer would not work with 10.5.8 I went back and tried to reinstall the optional printer driver package on the original 10.5.1 installation DVD. When this did not work either, I downloaded the HP print driver package available from their website. Could I have somehow screwed this up by installing the incorrect or uncompatible print drivers?

My work computer runs Outlook 2003, which I know will not work with the iCloud, so I hard sync. But then the new info on my iPhone does not backup to iCloud. Is there a solution?

I have a Macbook and iPhone and like to back up to iCloud. However, my work computer runs Outlook 2003, which I know will not work with the iCloud. The company has no plans to update anytime soon. Since the calendar and contact list on my office computer are my primay ones, I hard sync through iTunes. The problem is that any data synced from Outlook 2003 to the iPhone from iTunes does NOT later backup to iCloud. Is there a solution?

I have the same problem with Outlook 2003 and Win XP which the multinational organisation I work for standardises on and will probably stay with forever!
