Comparing an element of an array with the previous element in that array.

First post, please let me know if there's anything I should do differently.
I'm grabbing a scope measurement in the form of a triangle waveform, and want only the parts of it with a positive differential - essentially a sawtooth. The waveform is stored in a one-dimensional array. Also, there is no way for me to trigger the measurement, so there is likely an incomplete bit of waveform before the first lowest value.
To prepare the data I decided to do two things:
-Cycle through the array and delete everything until I find the first lowest value.
-Save the values from lowest to highest, then delete everything until the next lowest value. Do this n times.
Does anyone have any good examples of cycling through an array in such a manner, or is there simply an easier way of going about it?

Unfortunately I don't have any code to post at the moment, but you can assume the input would be an array of voltage values that comprise a triangle wave. Good suggestion about the array min/max function, however I forsee a potential issue with it.
It's possible that the triangle wave won't be 'perfect.' That is, the voltage of one peak or valley might not be exactly identical as measured from one to the other. It would be really nice if I could count on them to be identical, then I could min/max and just search for the min and max values. If I min/max, it's possible I could come up with a point at the middle or end of my waveform and lose useful data before it. There are two likely scenarios for the start of the waveform, so...
-We start on the downward slope of the triangle wave somewhere in the middle of it.
if array[x+1] is less than array[x], delete array[x]. If it's not, exit the loop.
-We start on the upward slope of the triangle wave somewhere in the middle of it.
This one is tougher. I could use Min/Max and make the determination based on how close to the min value we are within some margin of error.
-We could start exactly on the peak or valley of the triangle, but this is very unlikely with the number of measurements taken.
Is there a min/max that would allow for some margin of error?

What is meant by me is, if there is a Text element in InDesign document, I should able to point out the respective PDF object.
I am looking for some way to mark a specific InDesign element and once we export the document to PDF, I want to point out to the same element in some way so that I can process it.
Requirement is simple, one user will mark some elements in the InDesign document and export it to PDF and send it to the other user. Other user will parse the PDF and extract the same element back or process it and use it.

Lots of blank space when printing array with only last element printed

I have a slight problem I have been trying to figure it out for days but can't see where my problem is, its probably staring me in the face but just can't seem to see it.
I am trying to print out my 2 dimensional array outdie my try block. Inside the trying block I have two for loops in for the arrays. Within the second for loop I have a while to put token from Stringtokeniser into my 2 arrays. When I print my arrays in this while bit it prints fine however when I print outside the try block it only print the last element and lots of blank space before the element.

A number of problems.
First, I bet you see a lot of "error at" messages, don't you? You create a 21x7 array, then go through the first array up to 21, going through the second one all the way to 21 as well.
your second for loop should go to flights[x].length, not flights.length. That will eliminate the need for ArrayIndexOutOfBounds checking, which should have been an indication that you were doing something wrong.
Second, when you get to flights[0][0] (the very first iteration of the inner loop) you are taking every element from the StringTokenizer and setting flights[0][0] to each, thereby overwriting the previous one. There will be nothing in the StringTokenizer left for any of the other (21x7)-1=146 array elements. At the end of all the loops, the very first element in the array (flights[0][0]) should contain the last token in the file.
At the end, you only print the first element (i=0, j=0, println(flight[ i][j])) which explains why you see the last element from the file.
I'm assuming you have a file with 21 lines, each of which has 7 items on the line. Here is some pseudo-code to help you out:
count the lines
reset the file
create a 2d array with the first dimension set to the number of lines.
int i = 0;
while (read a line) {
Tokenize the line;
count the tokens;
create an array whose size is the number of tokens;
stuff the tokens into the array;
set flights[i++] to this array;
}

I am receiving random data and the build array VI always create a 2D array which might cause some problem if you want to compute certain type of operation after.

First I want to Thank you Lynn for your linguistic contribution indeed "Build Array" is a primitive and not VI, thank you for the education. In reality what I am doing is simple.
I have two arrays of complex elements Array1 and Array2.
Array1 conains the complex elements ""(a0+ib0) ; (a1+ib1) ;...(an+ibn) ;
Array2 conains the complex elements ""(c0+id0) ; (c1+id1) ;...(cn+idn)
What I want to do is the multiplication of the first array by the conjugate of the second array element.
Array1*(Conjugate Array 2)" for the first element the results is "(a0.C0-b0.d0) + i(b0c0-a0d0)" and the etc...
and then taking the square root ([(a0.C0-b0.d0) power of 2]) + [(b0c0-a0d0) power of 2])
I was wondering if there were some dedicate primitive that could solve the computation above which is the cross correlation in Frequency domain.

I have to include a statement in a query which allows to compare the current value of column A with the previous value of column A (same column). from there, I need to add a condition in order to have the expected result.
Let's take an example to illustrate what I want to achieve:
I have the following columns in table called 'Charges':

]That looks like the query you were using before you started this thread.
Modify it, using the analytic fucntions FIRST_VALUE and LAG, like I showed you.
I see that you did simplify the problem quite a bit, and it's good that you did that.
It doesn't matter that your real problem involves joins or GROUP BY. Analytic functions are calculated on the results after all joins and GROUPS BYs are done. Just substitute your real expressions for the simplified ones.
For example, in your simplified problem, there was a column called order_nr, but I see now that's it's really called o.ordnum. Where the solution I posted earlier says "ORDER BY order_nr", you should say "ORDER BY o.ordnum".
Here's a less obvious example: in your simplifed problem, there was a column called price, but I see now that it's really SUM (tc1.chrg_amt + tc2.chrg_amt + tc3.chrg_amt). Where the solution I posted earlier says "TO_CHAR (price)", you should say "TO_CHAR (SUM (tc1.chrg_amt + tc2.chrg_amt + tc3.chrg_amt))". (You can't use an alias, like "Total Price", in the same SELECT clasue where it is defined.)
I removed some columns from the select as they are not relevant for the wanted action like 'adress details or other references'.
Now here is the result:

I dont have problem with waveform array 15 elements or less, but i need index 16 elements...

2nd column is wind speed, 3rd is gust speed.
i would like to display the wind speed in a gauge with the right values. like for example, at 12:32:30 AM OF REAL TIME, NOT BASED ON THE TEXT, i would like to display the 0.38m's of wind speed in the gauge.
how do i sync the time in array with the real-time?

But it does not correct the colors in effects. And checking or unchecking Make Movie/Output Module Settings/Color Management/Profile/Preserve RGB does not make any difference.

Those parts of the video image that does not have color effects are just fine. In these parts the color is preserved when reimporting to FCP. However, those parts having color effects (except Levels, as decribed earlier) have altered color results. So, only the parts having effects affecting color are misinterpreted in the image area. The mismatch is of course seen in AE, before making the movie.
What I ment with "Color Management not working properly" is that (instead of "disabling" it) Color Management does not seem to be able to correct this "misinterpretation" or difference in effect handling between AE 6 and 10.
So, would you have any solution for this problem?

Preprocessing xml to replace all xpath references with the referred elements

Is it possible to sort of pre-process xml before querying such as we replace all internal xpath references with the referred elements?
So below is the xml and as we see the typeId element of second app.test.module.library.Publisher element refers to the typeId element in the first app.test.module.library.Publisher element through xpath reference . Seems this is done by XStream(which we
use for xml-java) to reduce the size of resulting xml. This is all fine and in java one can easily traverse through such xpath references, but the challenge i am facing is in sql where i use node() function to get each of app.test.module.library.Publisher
element and fetch value of selectedText element of both the children of app.test.module.library.Publisher - (typeId, regionCode).

If you execute this, the second typeId value will be null but ideally I should be able to reach to the reference, which is typeId of first app.test.module.library.Publisher element and should be able to fetch selectedText of it, which is correct value (Book).
In other words first two app.test.module.library.Publisher elements are of same type (Book).
Since I am not able to find the way to do it, I thought I should have some way to process this xml to replace all such references with the referred element and that will eliminate the need to go for tedious xpath reference based access.

I was able to get a result using dynamic SQL, but my guess is if you have more complicated examples it probably won't work. I also make an assumption you know the full path of the first reference you want. Anyway, try this:

How to get a value from the previous element (XSLT/XPATH gurus ahoy!)

I am building an RTF template for a "letter of reference"-report. Sometimes there are several rows in the data, that need to be printed as one. This is due to consecutive temporary contracts, which will be printed out as one period of service.
Here's a simplified data example to illustrate the problem.

I need to compare START_DATE of an element (except for the first one) with the END_DATE of the previous element, to find out whether to print the END_DATE for that element or not. How can I get that value from the previous element?
