Compatibility of developed Vision library with NI Vision Builder AI

We developed a specific Vision library using NI LabVIEW and Vision Toolkit.
My requirement is to identify the compatiblity of this library with NI Vision Builder AI.Can we use the existing VI's with Vision builder?
Please provide me your comments asap.

There are multiple ways to add functionality to Vision Builder AI using a set of VIs you wrote:
1) Vision Builder AI can run a VI you write that use your VIs using the Run LabVIEW VI step.
2) You can also develop a custom step (that include the configuration page) for a better user experience, using the VBAI SDK, and use your VIs inside.
With these 2 solutions, you will need to use a specific version of LabVIEW to integrate your library, as Vision Builder AI is a LabVIEW application, and VBAI will execute the code from the Run LabVIEW step, or custom step using the LabVIEW runtine engine that it was built with. The version of LabVIEW depends on the version of VBAI. For example, for VBAI 2011SP1, you need to use LabVIEW 2010.
3) You can automate/drive Vision Builder AI from LabVIEW on Windows. (Open an inspection, run once, run continuously, etc, and get the resulting results and image that you can further process using your library. You can use the API on Windows with any version of LabVIEW.
For example, the VBAI 2011 API supports LabVIEW 8.5 through 2011.
You will run your developped application on Windows only, but it will be able to control Vision Builder AI running on remote targets.
If you're running Vision Builder AI on Windows, I see no compatibility issues with any of the above solution, except for using the correct version of LabVIEW in the first 2 solutions I mentioned. Using 1) and 2), you will also be able to develop code that can run on targets that Vision Builder AI supports, like smart cameras, and embedded vision systems.
If you plan to support remote targets, like smart cameras or Embedded Vision Systems, there are things to consider for your library to be compatible:
These targets run different operating systems: some run Pharlap, some run VxWorks, all run LabVIEW real-time on these OSes. If you used LabVIEW and Vision Development module to build you library based on VDM, the only thing to consider is to make sure to use the same version of LabVIEW and Vision Development Module installed on the target. Let me explain:
When you configure one of these remote targets from Vision Builder AI running on the Windows host machine, we install an image that contains a specific version of LabVIEW Real-time and Vision Development Module (For example, in the case of VBAI 2011 SP1, the remote target image has LabVIEW Real-Time 2010 and Vision Development Module 2011). Those should be the versions you need to use to create your VI to run with the Run LabVIEW step or custom step). We ran into some compatibility issues when customers update their Windows machine with a newer version of Vision Development Module, and write a VI or custom step they want to run in VBAI, that uses a new function that is not supported with the DLLs installed on the target.
If your Vision Library uses some other DLLs (code you may have written in text based language or third party DLL), you will have to recompile the DLL for the operating system of the target (Pharlap or VXWorks, depending on the target) for the code to work on the remote target.
Hope this helps and is not too confusing.
Best regards,
-Christophe

  • Please, please bring out a Zen Vision:M with integrated digital camera!

Is there some chance to contact the development division of creative and ask for a Zen Vision:M with integrated digital camera? there are mobiles out there with 0 Megapixel cameras and they don?t have a 30 GB disk space.
There would be nothing better then have this nice Vision:M mp3 player with an integrated camera..
one additional use for Vision:M besides using for listining to mp3 is to keep and carry around photos with it anyways.. so why don?t they bring it our with camera? wouldn?t need to take photos with another devise, transfer these photos to the pc/mac and then transfer them back on Vision:M.... just carrying aroung one devise would be so much better... but I guess that is also some marketing stuff... first sell this generation of Vision:M, and then wait some time and come out with the new generation of players, with finally integrated camera... or maybe just wait, until ipod brings them out first... anyways, I really don?t see a technical problem for this...
Olympus m:robe 500 put a mp3 camera on the market a couple of years ago, though it can't really compete with Vision:M on the mp3 player part.
    any comments from anyone?

I actually disagree, reason being that when you take into account the cameras that are build into the phones they are at most adequate, 2MP is the current theme (at least in UK I think). The option/settings/tweeks with the phone cameras is poor when you look at it, stand alone digital cams offer better features compared with phone digicams, then you have the power too, to dri've a good camera if you have one then you know required decent batteries, storage (ok you have a hard dri've so that is sorted) but take into consideration that you will always get better results with a digicam than phone cameras and you can see that would be a waste of time for the time being.
There is an old saying "Jack of all trades, Master of none" and this seemes to hold true to the phone cameras. Don't get me wrong it would be nice to have it only and only if you have all the features of the stand alone one with big resolution and so on, heck I have a Nokia 6230 and like it very much but my old 3.2MP Cannon (by all means not the best and not the newest?in the world) gives me far better/superior results than the the one on the phone even can. What would be cool to have is a port where you can hook them both up and use the Mp3 players HDD to store (I know you can on some Creative players) your snaps without having to buy or have attachments, just plug a mini USB and you are off. Technology as always moves forward and an astonishing reate and new gadgets?come out?and quality improves, battery life lengthens and so on, so we might even see this happen. Ttill the time where they are on par with most consumer digicams?I will be?witholding in buying one.Message Edited by RobertM on 03-0-20062:57 PM

I turned on Bold Text - the phone will restart itself, that's normal - and it is now MUCH easier on my eyes.
    Give it a try.

  • Sync a network folder/drive with zen vision

Please help! The sync software that comes with my vision M doesn't let me sync to a network folder. That's where I keep all of my music. When I point to that folder, it keeps telling me that it's not a valid folder. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

Are you trying to sync to a network path \\somecomputer\cdri've or are you trying to do it to a mapped dri've letter? All my music is on a Simpletech NAS dri've on my network and have a dri've letter mapped to it and it works fine in media organizer, wmp and the creative sync handler thing.

My mother is visually impaired but can easily play scrabble, bridge, crib on my ipad.  Has anyone with a vision issue experienced these same games as easily on the ipad mini?  Would prefer to buy the smaller one if she can read it successfully.

    Thanks jared,
I'm still dealing with this issue through Apple. Some time after I posted this, I contacted Apple again. They did start a case up for me, as I was experiencing the same behavior on two different machines, with two different versions of Windows.
So far it remains unsolved. I've logged iClouds for Windows on my desktop, which is brand new, then logged for awhile after completely uninstalling Norton Security Suite, depending on the Microsoft security for some time, and finally logged after I uninstalled iCloud for Windows, restarted, installed a clean download, and connected using a completely different test account, which Apple set up for me. None of this made any difference. Looking at the logs, it seems every 10 minutes, iCloudServices.exe creates a new TCP connection to confirm I'm using less than 5GB on iCloud, (which I am by a good margin, using less than 2GB), it seems this connection is not closed, and when the next iteration rolls around 10 minutes later, a new TCP connection is created. I come very close to having 6 TCP connections created per hour, until I restart my computer. This works out to... 6 x 24 = 144/day.
Perhaps the article you posted will shed some further light on this. I'm thinking seeing the state of the connection through netstats, at the least, could help.
For the last week, I've been putting a hold on further logging, as Apple wants me to create a new user account on one of my computers, install iCloud for Windows there, and log it running in the other account. This however basically means I cannot use my computer for a fair number of hours, and I've been busy enough with work the past week that I haven't the time or energy to afford to set this up and run it. I've had need of my computers too much for the past week.

  • My camera won't work with IMAQ vision builder

    I have a Hitachi camera , and a PCI 1407 frame grabber
the camera works well in MAX under devices , but when I open the IMAQ vision builder , it not visible in the devices , and I can't open MAX from the vision builder. It's gets me that error "1074397163" at the end it has bad interface
it's not the power supply of the camera since it works well at MAX , so its like the camera's name is img0 in MAX , and another thing in IMAQ vision builder, I tried updating my softwares but nothing happened, can anyone help please ??
    thanks

    Dalia,
I think I may need some clarification on what exact program and function you are using. Are you getting this error with the Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (VBAI)? Or are you using LabVIEW and are receiving this error from the IMAQ Init.vi?
If it is in VBAI, and you are trying to acquire an image, the Devices should auto-populate in the Main tab of the Acquire Image setup. Simply select the camera and press Grab or Snap.
If it is in LabVIEW, right-click on the interface input of the IMAQ Init.vi to create either a constant or a control. If it does not auto-populate with the correct camera name as it is in MAX, "img0". Or you can change the interface name in MAX by simply right-clicking on the camera and selecting "Rename"
Can you elaborate on what you are referring to when you say "the MAX explorer won't work in IMAQ"?

  • Using the Standard Template Library with 5.0 using 4.2 compatibility mode

Has anyone used the Standard Template Library with the 5.0 release of the complier using the -compat=4 flag ?

It's not your system, unfortunately. It's iTunes 5.0. I have XP, a brand new drive and Nero. I can burn all sorts of CDs, just none from iTunes.
I have gotten several emails from Apple regarding this issue, none of which helped. The last response I got said they were working on my problem. Right now, the best solution that I can come up with, although I'm not sure how to do it, is back up your songs as a data CD, uninstall 5.0 and reinstall version 4.9.
If you go back a few days (or maybe a week) in the discussions, someone posted a link for 4.9. If you can do this and successfully install 4.9 you will have no problem burning CDs. I just haven't had any luck burning my songs as data. I have 4.9 on an older computer and can burn CDs for days. So all I have to do is get my songs to the old PC and I'll be in business.

  • Help With BT Vision Please!

    Hi there,
Had Infinity Broadband (option 2) and BT Vision Unlimited Extra installed yesterday; recevied the confirmation that it was all set up, installed and working correctly within a few hours of installation and thought all was fine.
Apparently, all is not fine and having spent most of the past two days on the phone with BT (not only for this issue but for other issues relating to the order itself) I am really at my wits end and totally fed up so I thought I would ask you guys for some input.
Basically, despite paying the £49 upgrade/installation fee for BT Vision Unlimited Extra I am only receiving FreeView channels and nothing else.
When I spoke to someone yesterday I was kept holding for over 90 minutes while the person just sat in total silence on the other end of the phone; not telling me what they were doing or why I  wasn't getting the channels I was meant to be getting.
Eventually (after being put through to four different people), I was told that I would be put through to tech support and then the phone went dead, meaning I had to then call back and sit on hold once more.  I was then told it was being escalated to a Tier 2 Technical Support team and that was all I was told.  I was offered no explanation as to what could have happened, no explaination of what exactly Tier 2 Support was or when I would be contacted - nothing at all and the level of communication from the people I was speaking to was nothing short of awful.
By the time I got through to someone who actually understood my complaint I was frustrated and very upset having been on the phone for most of yesterday and I decided that BT Vision was just not worth the hassle or stress and given that I had only just had it installed yesterday I told the gentleman I was speaking to that I just wanted to cancel BT Vision under the 14 day cooling off period I believed most customers were entitled to only to be told that BT don't have that policy at all and if I wanted to cancel Vision I would have to pay £200 and that I should just wait for someone to contact me to see if there's a problem with the Vision box.
So, if you're still with me after all that then you deserve a drink!
Has anyone else had this problem and what was done to fix it?  I don't want to be paying for a service I'm not actually getting!
    Many thanks,
    N.
    Edited to add:
In case anyone needs to know, this is the equipment I have:
BT Home Hub 3.0 (wired to the white box and it right next to the TV)
BT Vision Plus box (connected to TV via HDMI cable, has an ariel lead straight into it, hard-wired to the Home Hub)
I have also tried the following as per BT's direction:
Unplugging each wire from the Home Hub, waiting 20 seconds and replacing
    Rebooting Home Hub
Unplugging each wire from the BT Vision Plus box, waiting 30 seconds and replacing
    Rebooting BT Vision Plus box
Resetting registration on BT Vision Plus box
    Scanned for channels (three times)
There was a thread here that suggested going through the force resyncronisation but I don't have that option anywhere at all.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There are still no Extra channels.
I've now done a factory reset and it's telling me that there are no updates available.
This is the information under System Information for the Middleware Version:
    Middleware Version number: 4.65.4 rev.1 512 Build: 243196 Jan 11 2013
This is a copy of the live chat I've just had to struggle though.  The advisors name has been replaced with BT ADVISOR just in case names aren't allowed to be posted.
BT Advisor: Hello. I'm (name removed). Thanks for that information, I'll check it and get back to you in a moment.
    Me:: OK.
Me:: I had BT Vision and Infinity Broadband (option 2) installed on Wednesday June 12th.
The Infinity is fine but I am still not receiving any of the EXTRA channels that I am paying for with the Vision Unlimited Extra package.
I have contacted BT multiple times since Wednesday and keep being fobbed off with "it's been escalated to a Tier 2 technician" and "someone will call you" and frankly I'm beyond fed up with this whole situation.
BT Advisor: (name removed), I'm just waiting for your account details to load. Won't be long.
Me:: I would like this sorted out today as I have now done everything I am able to to try and fix this - rebooting the home hub, rebooting the Vision box, resetting the Vision box and factory resetting the Vision box.
Me:: I have also called and asked the person I spoke to to send the correct update to the Vision box as it is not actually set up for any of the multicast channels - this update still has not happened.
BT Advisor: (name removed), I have checked the notes and seems that the Level 2 team tried to call you today between 10.30 - 11 am but was not able to reach you.
Me:: I have been home all morning - the telephone has not rung once.
BT Advisor: (name removed), at this moment let me know if the Hub and the BT Vision Box is on?
Me:: The Home Hub is one and the Vision Box is on standby
    BT Advisor: Thank you.
Me:: I would like this to be fixed today.
BT Advisor: (name removed), I'm trying to fix it for you.
Me:: What exactly are you dong to fix this issue?
BT Advisor: When, I'm trying to run the test to check for the Update and send the correct update the box is showing as it is not connected to the internet.
Me:: It is connected to the Home Hub via the ethernet cable
Me:: The internet is on and running perfectly - the lead is in slot number 3 which is the one I was told to put it in previously
Me:: Where the ethernet cable is connected to the BT Vision Box there are two lights.  One is green and steady, the other is yellow and blinking.
    BT Advisor: Thank you.
BT Advisor: (name removed), I have checked with the level 2 Team and they have asked to perform the factory reset once again as the previous reset was not successful as after the reset the Box will automatically install the update.
BT Advisor: (name removed), I advise performing a factory reset of the Vision box.
When resetting the Vision box you will lose the recordings you have on the Vision box
If you able to start the Vision box please follow these steps:
    1. Press BT Vision button on the remote control
    2. Select Help and Settings
    3. Select System Information and then select Factory Reset
    4. When the Warning message appears select Reset
Me:: I will do this while you are here in case of any more problems.
    BT Advisor: Ok
Me:: If this doesn't work what is the next step?
BT Advisor: This should work but if it does not that I will gte back to the Level 2 Team and update them that it has not worked.
Me:: Oops, there's been an error.  Try again in a bit.
    [VPE108]
Me:: This pops up before the screen to setup the Vision.
BT Advisor: That indicates that the Vision Box has not been reseted, just let me check what can be done.
BT Advisor: (name removed), I'm once again raising this case to the Technical Management Centre and they will definitely call you within the next 24 hrs.
Me:: No.  I keep being told this and so far nobody has bothered to contact me at all.  This issue needs to be sorted today or I shall be contacting OFCOM and any other regulatory body to raise this as an official complaint against BT.
BT Advisor: I apologise as you did not get a call back earlier but the Technical Management Centre will have to do some checks to see why you are not getting the extra channels and that will take some time.
BT Advisor: If you can provide me with a mobile that they can call you.
Me:: I am not getting the extra channels because the Vision box is not set up for MULTICAST CHANNELS.  All that needs to be done is to have the correct software sent to the Vision Box.  I do not think this will take 24 hours as yesterday I was told it would only take a maximum of 6 hours.
Me:: If I am not contacted today within a reasonable time frame I will take this further.
BT Advisor: (name removed), I do not assure that you will get a call back today but surely you will get a call back within the next 24 hours
Me:: By the way, the Vision Box IS connected to the Home Hub and the internet.  There are still no updates available.
Me:: That is not good enough I'm afraid.  I have been chasing BT to fix their error since Wednesday and still nobody has bothered to contact me as promised.
BT Advisor: (name removed), as you have tried to do it manually it is not updating the box so that is the reason why I'm raising the case to the Technical Management Centre.
Me:: Then that means that the box is faulty and as I have been told by the cancellation team that if the box is faulty I am able to cancel BT Vision I would like to do that now.
BT Advisor: The box is not faulty, its just that the update is not getting installed.
Me:: That is, by definition, a fault.
Me:: I am not arguing this further with you.  Kindly put me in contact with someone who can either fix this immediately or the cancellation team.
BT Advisor: Unfortunately, there is no one who can fix it now you will have to wait.
Me:: Then put me in touch with your cancellation team.
BT Advisor: (name removed), the direct number for the Cancellations team is (removed number) you can call them on this number.
Me:: I will do that.  Goodbye.
To be honest I'm feeling beyond fed up with this whole thing.  I realize I was being a bit bolshy with this advisor but having been Mrs Nice Lady for the past two days I'm just letting my frustration out a bit.
Anyone else feel like banging their head against a brick wall?
