Compensating for JMS on one machine

So i'm still coming up to speed on clustering with Weblogic,
and I have a few questions.
          1) how (if at all) are people compensating for the reliability
issue raised by running JMS on only one machine in the cluster.
          2) is there a way to make prevent the one machine running JMS
from performing any tasks normal other than JMS? ie: prevent
it from accepting EJB requests, JSP request, etc. & have it
focus only on JMS (arguably to reduce the chances that some
errant code unrelated to JMS might bring the system down
thus choking the rest of the cluster)
          3) Does weblogic have plans to make JMS a clustered service?
          thanks,
          jason

Joel,
Just to clarify... So, by suffixing qnames with unique ids you are
effectively trying to mimic load-balancing by the clients, since Nodes ids
are going to be known to the client apriori. Is it correct?
          Thanks

  • Can I use the redemption code for more than one machine for Photoshop Elements?

I want to use the Photoshop Elements that I bought on more than one machine. Is that
possible using the Redemption Code? It says it was used with another Adobe ID.
    Thanks

    Hi Stover,
Typically you use the redemption code to retrieve your serial number for Elements products. The licensing for Elements allows the owner to install on two of their computers.

  • Getting Java 1.4 and 1.6 to both be available for applets on one machine.

My problem is this, several of our clients are also clients of a banking institution who's online business banking solution is written in J2SE 1.4.2 or some such and will not run on any other version. Up until around J2SE1.5_06 this wasn't a problem, they just closed their browser on one applet and opened a new one for the other. This worked fine. But from 1.5_06 the Java Plugin (we have only windows clients) no longer loads 1.4.2.
My question... Is there any way to get the 1.4 applet and our applet to work together on the same machine? At present we tell those clients who use the 1.4 applet to only use J2SE1.5_05, this is a problem for us. There are a number of improvements/bug fixes, to things such as printing (in a hyperthreaded or dual core environment.)
    Thnks

    You only need 1.5
When you compile you can specify that it needs to be compiled in a prev version of java.
If it is compiled in 1.4 it will run as 1.4 even in a 1.5 VM

I have 2 Macbooks each with an account for me and one for my wife. I use one Macbook logged in with my account and my wife uses the other Macbook only logged in on her account. We both make regular time-machine back-ups each on a separate external disk. Is it possible to update her account on my macbook using her external disk without overwriting my stuff on the same Macbook and vice versa?

Time Machine does not do individual accounts. It records the complete drive. So if you were to use her TM backup on your Mac it would make your Mac just like hers. Both yours and her account on your MAC.
Just copy the missing files over from her Mac to yours. If there are differennt programs on each then they would need to be installed on both.

  • How to create an default profile for every user on one machine? Deployment of configurations?

On firefox 3.5.X i can copy an configured profile from an user-folder to the programm folder of firefox. \mozilla firefox\defaults\profiles.
After an new user log in to the machine the default profile will get the actual profile of the new user. With all bookmarks, configurations and so on.
But this doesn't work with the firefox 3.6.10? What changed? What will be the way i can get an default configuration for every user on one machine? I want to deploy the firefox with an default configuration in our enterprise? Why does the behaviour change?
    What to do?
    Thanks...

No - there are no missing data, because nothing will be copied. The profile - folder does not work.
There are the standard first start behavior.
There might be another trick? Hint? Todo?
    Thanks.

  • Screen sharing to one machine fails for short account name

I have an iMac, MacBook and a Mac mini. Screen sharing works between any and all of them except that in the case of the mac mini, the 'short' account name fails. Only when I use the "full name" (and the same password) does it work.
File sharing with the short names works just fine. It is only screen sharing, and only when connecting to that one machine.

  • Time Machine deleted my first backup to make space for a new one, is there anyway to recover it?!?!

So I had all my stuff backed up to December 23 on an external hard drive with Time Machine, then I deleted it all so that the next automatic backup didn't have any of these older files. Today Time Machine deleted my original backup to make space for a new one and so I lost Decemer 23, now I am screwed..HELP?? I accidently let it delete or something, I don't really know, I know this was just a series of mistakes and now I'm desparate ):

Have a look at this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427 and section "backup drive fills up".
It's a normal behavior that Time Machine is deleting oldest backups when drive is filling up.

  • How to install Runtime Platform for more than one database on one machine

    Hi,
What the docs loosely call Runtime Platform Service is in my opinion a combination of
    A) a bunch of software (installed under an ORACLE_HOME)
    B) the actual service process
My question: if I have more than one databases on one machine, each containing an OWB Runtime, am I correct in assuming that I have to install the Runtime Platform software only once, but there will be a separate service process running for each database, each adressing the same Runtime Platform software? So under ORACLE_HOME nothing is kept that refers to a particular database?
    Jaap.

Yes, we use such a configuration on our site. We have one OWB ORACLE_HOME and uses up to 4 instances. Each instance has its own Runtime Service Process running.

i bought my wife an ipad retina for xmas and the machine is faulty, it keeps on switching off. the apple authorised dealer admitted it was faulty and wants to replace my new machine with a factory refurbished unit. I told them that i will only accept a new one as it is only a few weeks old and had the problem from the begining? is it correct that apple replaces new defective products with factory refurbished one? I have used apple products most of my life from mac 2 to G5. I had over a dozen apple machines and never had a problem so far? I do not believe this is right..

In the EU there is also a mandatory two year warranty by european union law. I am not a lawyer but i never signed or agreed to any apple policy at the time of purchase, i was told you have a two year guarantee bring it back if anything goes wrong which i did and now i am being quoted all sorts of policies. my own policy is that if you buy new you get new, with no excuses.  I feel a bit cheated by apple if i have to compromise with a second hand unit. the unit is not even a month old and we took it to the original store a couple of weeks after it was bought and they sent us to take it to a servicing dept in another town. I am an apple fan and expect excellent service like the products themselves.
No one ever does sign anything - the purchase itself, where you exchange money for the product, is your de facto agreement to all warranties and policies set forth by both the seller and the OEM supplier.  That's a pretty firmly established principle of consumer law (image the nightmare if you had to read and sign to such things every time you purchased anything or everything?).
You can complain to the store or to Apple about it if you wish.

You sure can have multiple WebLogic installations on one machine.

The installer will create a bea directory in your home directory. Take a

  • Time machine - On backup disk change still looking for the old one

    Hi,
I had a backup disk from my D-Link NAS, which died, I bought a Synology Diskstation and enabled Time machine.
I can see the hard drive in time machine preferences, I can select it and everything seems to be ok. Until a backup is performed, at the moment system says it can't find the original (D-Link) disk. Even in console app I can see it search for the afp for D-Link.
I tried to disable time machine, reboot. Also remove the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist
Also using command line util tmutil it fails.
    tmutil destinationinfo
    ====================================================
    Name          : Backup
    Kind          : Network
    URL           : afp://backup@DataCenter_AFP_Backup._afpovertcp._tcp.local/Backup
    ID            : 16EE688A-9FE1-40EE-8495-84BC56FD63B7
    tmutil removedestination 16EE688A-9FE1-40EE-8495-84BC56FD63B7
but It won't remove it, destinatininfo prints the same result
I tried to set destination with the new afp path, but no change.
Any idea what else I could try?

That device is unsuitable for use with Time Machine. I know this isn't the answer you want, and I also know that the manufacturer says the device will work with Time Machine, and that it usually seems to work. Except when you try to restore, and find that you can't.
If you want network backup with Time Machine, use as the destination either an Apple Time Capsule or an external hard drive connected to another Mac or to an 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only the 802.11ac base stations support Time Machine, not any older model.
If you're determined to keep using the NAS for backup, your only recourse for any problems that result is to the manufacturer (which will blame Apple.)

  • How to run JMS in multiple machines?

    hello all,
i am new to jms, so please let me know how to run jms in multiple machines.
i mean, iin one machine publisher and the queue/topic are running, in other machine listener/clent. so client and the publisher must be running in an application servers. so it means only two app servers can send and receive messages?
then what is the advantage of JMS?
I think the sender will be sending messages and the listener can get them at later time, is my understanding is correct?
Please let me know how it works in multiple machines? and how shold i start now?
    please give me the details....
    thanks in advance.

    Hi Charan!
If I understand your questions right, yes, you can use JMS on several physical machines. They connect using JNDI.
However, you cannot communicate asynchronously through JMS alone. The benefit of JMS is that you have a common interface to use when talking to a messaging provider, like WS MQ, Sonic MQ, etc. Most vendors support JMS, and those who do are called JMS providers. They are required to implement either the Queue functionality or Topic functionality (or both). When using a JMS provider, you really see the benefit of JMS. How else would you secure that your system is loosly coupled? Also, by using JMS and Message Driven Beans you get the benefits of container managed transactions, object pooling, etc.
If you do not have a JMS provider, you still have the benefit of a loosly coupled system by using JMS to integrate your applications, but in a large system, you should consider a tool for asynchronous messaging(again WS MQ, Sonic MQ, etc).
I would recomend you start by reading the JMS section of the J2EE tutorial provided by sun.

  • I am using the Order Analysis Toolkit and want to get more information about the compensation for "Reference Signal Processing", which is scarce in the manuals, the website and the examples installed with the toolkit.

I am using the Order Analysis Toolkit and want to get more information about the compensation for "Reference Signal Processing", which is scarce in the manuals, the website and the examples installed with the toolkit.
In particular, I am analyzing the example "Even Angle Reference Signal Processing (Digital Tacho, DAQmx).vi", whose documentation I am reproducing in the following:
    <B>DESCRIPTIONS</B>:
This VI demonstrates how to extract even angle reference signals and remove the slow-roll errors. It uses DAQmx VIs to acquire sound or vibration signals and a digital tachometer signal. This VI includes a two-step process: acquire data at low rotational speed to extract even angle reference; use the even angle reference to remove the errors in the vibration signal acquired at normal operation.
    <B>INSTRUCTIONS</B>:
    1. Run the VI.
    2. On the <B>DAQ Configurations</B> tab, specify the <B>sample rate</B>, <B>samples per channel</B>, device and channel configurations, and tachometer channel information.
<B>NOTE</B>: You need to use DSA PXI-447x/PXI-446x and PXI TIO device in a PXI chassis to run this example. The DSA device must be in slot 2 of the PXI chassis.
    3. Switch to <B>Extract Even Angle Reference</B> tab. Specify the <B>number of samples to acquire</B> and the <B># of revs in reference</B> which determines the number of samples in even angle reference. Click <B>Start</B> to take a one-shot data acquisition of the vibration and tachometer signals. After the acquisition, you can see the extracted even angle references in <B>Even Angle Reference</B>.
    4. Switch to the <B>Remove Slow-roll Errors</B> tab. Click <B>Start</B> to acquire data continuously and view the compensate results. Click <B>Stop</B> in this tab to stop the acquisition.
<B>ORDER ANALYSIS VIs USED IN THIS EXAMPLE</B>:
    1. SVL Scale Voltage to EU.vi
    2. OAT Digital Tacho Process.vi
    3. OAT Get Even Angle Reference.vi
    4. OAT Convert to Even Angle Signal.vi
    5. OAT Compensate Even Angle Signal.vi
My question is: How is the synchronization produced at the time of the compensation ? How is it possible to eliminate the errors in a synchronized fashion with respect to the surface of the shaft bearing in mind that I am acquired data at a low rotation speed in order to get the "even angle reference" and then I use it to remove the errors in the vibration signal acquired at normal operation. In this application both operations are made in different acquisitions, therefore the reference of the correction signal is lost. Is it simply compensated without synchronizing ?
Our application is based on FPGA and we need to clarity those aspects before implementing the procedure.
    Solved!
