Compile pdf's automatically

I have to lay pdf's on top of video and sync them up from presentations. I have the timestamp of each slide and I have named each pdf with that timestamp. I now want to figure out a way to have final cut lay each pdf on the timeline for the length of the time that it was really displayed. My question is...I have all the data...the timestamp and deltas...can i compile a pdf or assemble it in FCP in a way automatically based on a naming convention or script or something? I want pdf-1 to have a duration of 34 seconds and pdf-2 to be 46 because it took 46 seconds between switching between pdf1 and pdf2 or whatever from my timestamps.

sure you could write an applescript to automate the process via xml but it will likely take you far far longer to do that than it would do just edit it together yourself
load each pdf into the viewer in turn and type it's duration into the duration field at topleft of that window (eg type 34. - thats 3, 4, period - for 34 seconds, or 46. - 4, 6, period - for 46 seconds etc)
when you have entered the duration for all your pdf's then you can drag and drop the whole lot in one go into the timeline and they will be assembled on the timeline, each one with the duration you gave it.

  • Print PDF Document Automatically

    Hello All,
We are developeing BI Publisher reports from existing oracle custom repots.
One of the solution has to be implemented is "The output PDF file should be printed automatically".
When i googled this a page read,
"As per Bug 1243042, Oracle Applications supports PDF output for viewing only, "This is the way the Applications are designed and implemented... anything beyond this would be more of an enhancement request.". That is, printing PDF directly from the concurrent manager is not supported. This concurrent manager limitation is also present in release 11.5."
Can we print a PDF document automatically upon the compeletion of a request.
If we can then how can i implement this.
Can we use shell program implement this.
    Regards,
    Kannan Balasubramanian

    Hi Ron,
We have R12 on AIX 5.3, I have configured pasta, oracle standard reports like "Active Users" are being printed to printer in post script format.
But I am having issue in printing XML Publisher reports in pdf format, I have extracted ghostscript-8.64.tar and compiled and installed as applmgr with required pdf2ps utility. I have included in tools_path, bounced ccm.
The XML publisher PO print request fails with "/pdf2ps[38]: gs: not found."
    Any help is apperciated.
    Thanks

  • Forcing preview to see downloaded pdf's automatically

forcing preview to see downloaded pdf's automatically.
Safari dowloads these but preview doesn't open it unless forced.
My other MB air downloads them and automatically opens them in th media viewer of Safari.
    Workarounds?
    Thanks in advance

In Safari, open the menu named "Safari" then click Preferences and look on the General tab. At the bottom is "Open 'safe' files after downloading" -- do you have that option selected?

  • Make pdf dowload automatically

Hi. Here's what i'm trying to do.
I want to have a link on my page (for example, a PDF icon). When it's clicked, I want a pdf to automatically download to their desktop. Just like when you're downloading software.
What i did, was make the icon a hyperlink, and link it to the pdf file. But when i check it in Safari and I click on the icon, the pdf shows up in Safari, rather than downloading automatically. If I control click it, then it gives the option to download.
    Is this possible to do?
    thanks

To clarify, if the PDF is uploaded as - FileName.pdf - it will open in the browser when the link is clicked and the viewer has the option of downloading it using their print dialogue.
If the file is zipped - Finder/File/Compress - it will automatically download to the viewer's desktop when the link is clicked.
This method of uploading a PDF using the Link inspector is not the best way of doing it as the file has to load with the web page and can increase the page download time substantially. A better way is to upload your zipped files to a Download Folder located in the root folder on your server. The download link will be like....
    http://www.website.com/DownloadFolderName/FileName.pdf.zip
MobileMe users can drag the download folder into Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites and the download link will be.....
    http://web.me.com/username/DownloadFolderName/FileName.pdf.zip

  • Open PDF document automatically after executing

    Hi,
I am converting my smartform output to PDF within the program and now i donot want to show any dialog box to the user to save the pdf document on the harddisk. when the user calls this form from a SAP Standard transaction using "issue ouput to screen" option, the pdf document should directly open up on the screen immediately.
Can anyone let me know how to code this?

Sorry for a very late reply. I was trying to see how i can use this method. But this method seems like doesn't work in the way i explained above.
I do not want the user to see any SAVE or OPEN file dialog box. The program should automatically open the document on the screen. If possible, without saving the document anywhere on the system. And if this is not possible (i.e., opening the document without saving) atleast it should automatically detect the temp directory on the user's system and then store it there.
If possible, could you please suggest to which parameters i need to pass the values?
    Please let me know.

  • Combine pdf's to 1 pdf, including automatic table of contets

    hi,
currently we are using win xp with adobe acrobat 6.0
We are going to upgrade to win 7 with acrobat x.
in Adobe Acrobat 6.0 we use the plug-in "compose" to combine about 50-60 pdf into 1 single report. We have a .fill file, telling compose, which pdf to take in which order.
Additionally, Compose generates automatically the table of contents with page numbers.
This way you can generate the whole report with a few clicks. The names of the pdf's never change and their containing folder/-s either.
    Here are my questions:
Will the new version of Acrobat provide the same feature? Will  there be a compose - plug-in as well? If not, what are my options?
Sorry for mistakes, english is not my mother tongue.

As the Compose plug-in is a non-Adobe item (plug-in is by Infodata) you will have to ask Infodata if they have a Windows 7 / Acrobat X compatible plug-in.
If not you'll have to come up with a new workflow. Acrobat, out-of-the-box, does not create table of contents - that's typically provided via the authoring application.
    Be well...

  • How do you Save a pdf form automatically to a designated folder using designated fields in the form?

    Hello,
I am in the process of creating a “service excellence feedback” form.  The idea of this form is to have a blank form living in our company’s intranet page to be used by multiple departments that receive feedback and then have a chain of updated investigations and follow up to be documented within the same file.
    The top portion is to be filled out by the department receiving the feedback. It collects all the pertinent data needed including the person giving the feedback’s First and Last name. Once the top portion of the form is filled out I want to have a “submit” button that will do;
    1. Save the pdf automatically to a designated folder AND automatically save it under the last and first name that is entered in the form. So the form will be saved in the designated folder under “Smith, John.pdf”.  I have already figured out how to format the button to “save as” however I would like to eliminate the person filling the form out to have ANY responsibility to naming and saving the file to the correct folder.
    2. After it is saved I want it emailed to a specific email address (which I have figured out.)
Once the steps above are completed and it is emailed an investigation will be performed by me and I will document my findings and then send it by another “submit” button which will save the document (writing over the previously saved version with this new version) and then emailed on to the next person to provide the next step of follow up. When the next person in line finishes they will hit another “submit” button that will again save the new version and send it back to me.  We continue this back and forth with a few more follow-ups performing the same save and send options.
I need help in how to write a script/java to perform this task of saving. I have already figured out how to program the button to email the form.  Help please!!!  I am using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro

It can also work if you certify the document and each user chooses to trust it to execute privileged JavaScript, which may be feasible in this setting. The method you'd use is doc.saveAs: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.524.html
Also, read the following tutorial: http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/how-save-pdf-acrobat-javascript

  • How do I close a PDF document automatically when the browser is closed?

I have a web app writen in HTML/ASP. In order to acccess this app, our users have to enter a password and user id. Once on the main page of the app, they can click on a link which opens the reader in another window. Quite often, when finished with the app, they close the browser, but leave the reader window open (with sensitive information). It is becoming to riskly to hope that they remember to close that window also, even with visual reminders. I would like for that window to close automatically when the browser with the app is closed.
    Can this be done?

Let me elaborate a little more on what I am trying to do.
    (1) A website (#1) is opened after entering a UID and PWD.
    (2) Within website #1, a link is clicked which opens a second web app (#2) in a seperate window using window.open().
    (3) Within website #2, a user can click on a link which opens a PDF as _SELF.
    (4) If the user:
         (a) exits out of website #1 by closing the brower
         (b) we would like to automatically close the PDF from website #2 also, as this contains sensitive information and most of the time the users are forgetting to close it

  • Opening Safari pdf documents automatically in Preview

With Lion, Safari opens pdf documents in a Safari tab by default (as it did in OS X 10.6).  I want pdfs to open automatically in Preview (or Acrobat depending on what I have set as the default pdf reader) without having to Cmd-Click/Open in Preview.  This was possible in 10.6 by disabling an adobe plugin.  Is there now an option for opening pdf documents in Preview by default, rather than in a Safari tab?

Also these documents are protected from Saving and Printing.
You can't protect PDF documents from saving.

  • PDFs opening automatically when created

I work for a medical practice and the doctors use adobe acrobat 7.0 for creating PDF files from Microsoft Word. When the new PDF is created it opens automatically. We would like to disable this feature. Having it automatically open is not necessary and we could do without the time it takes to open adobe. Is there a way to fix this?

This is a preference. When using Print to PDF you can set this in
Distiller. When using the PDFMaker in Office, you can set preferences
for this, by unchecking the preference on the Acrobat (Ribbon/Tab) to
    view the pdf file.

  • Opening a pdf document automatically from the program

    Hi guys,
I wonder if it's possible to 'run'/open from a standalone appliation a pdf document. I mean, my program produces a pdf file and it saves it on the local c drive. once this is completed i wonder how can i open it and show it to the enduser. (I want to save the time and hassle of locating it and double clicking the document)
    thanks

  • Creating a PDF with automatic page turn after playing a movie

Is there anyway to create a pdf where pages get turned automatically after a movie has been played? Simply put, I need to create a slideshow with both movies and images, and with an automatic page turn every x seconds the movies might be either too short or too long.
Any help will be greatly apreciated!
    best, Jacob

Did you ever figure this out? I would love to know.

  • Opening a pdf file automatically opens last 13 pdf files viewed

I use Adobe Acrobat a lot and for some reason, I opened a pdf document yesterday and the last 13 files I viewed automatically opened.  I rebooted my computer and it still does the same thing.
Does anyone know how to switch off this automation?
    Appreciate anyone's feedback.
    Sincerely,
    dd1atslb

Do a Get Info on one of the PDF files - select the file (click it once), then press Command-I (Get Info in the File menu).
In the Get Info window, about half-way down is an item "Open with:" - set the pulldown menu in that section to "Preview".
If you want to make that change to all PDFs, then click the "Change All..." button.

  • PDF attachments automatically opening ???

This just started, but when I attach a PDF file to my email message it is now opening in its entirety in the message body. Some of these PDF files are large and I don't want them to automatically open when I attach them. Why did this start and how do I stop it??
Note: If I attach a "Pages" file, it does not do this. I just get the icon showing the attachment is there. How do I do that (again) with PDF files?? I have no idea whey they just started opening on their own.

In addition to the good answers others have provided, here's a last ditch thing you can try if you absolutely do not want an attachment to "open" in the body of your email message. You can either try placing it in a folder and then attaching the folder to the email message or you can try compressing it into a zip archive and then attaching that to the message. These are extra steps and the results may vary depending on your recipient's email program, as has been pointed out, but this may be helpful to you.

    Steve M.
