CompilerCache update on change in Non Java file

I have a Java project which has .java files and a .mapping file. (.mapping file
is needed for JDO implementation). When I change any .java file and rebuild the
project, compilerCache (.workshop\.ide) gets updated. When I change only .mapping
file and rebuild the project, compiler cache does not get updated. Is there
configuration file/settings where I could add more file types whose modification
will result in compilerCache update?
Thx

Hi Vikas,
I guess your form contains two blocks, based on tables from a database. (So your remark "Non-database" is incorrect).
Then, do you need two separate buttons for 'Save' and for 'Update'?
In Forms, there are standard buttons in the Forms toolbar to commit the changes to the database.
Of course it is possible to copy this standard functionality to custom-made buttons, but I think you do not need to do that.
Kind regards,

  • Folding accelerators and pop-up menu for non-Java files?

    For Java files, 11g honors the expand/collapse accelerators and displays an expand/collapse menu when right-clicking in the gutter for the +/- folding handles. For other files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.), the folding handles are present, but neither the accelerators nor the menu are available. Is there a way to config JDev to make that work? Thanks.

    Hi,
    In your iWS, Go to particular instance config directory
    edit contexts.properties file
    (eg:-/usr/netscape/server4/https-test/config/contexts.properties).
    Do the below changes.
    (uncomment
    context.global.reloadInterval=5
    "And"
    context.global.isModifiedCheckAggressive=true).
    Example:-
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    # Context properties:
    # context.global.sessionmgr.initArgs=
    # context.global.initArgs=initial=0
    # context.global.javaBufferSize=0
    # context.global.bufferSize=4096
    # context.global.docRoot=/foo/bar
    # context.global.inputStreamLengthCheck=true
    # context.global.outputStreamFlushTimer=0
  • Non Java files in a Java application
    Hi, I'm not exactly new to Java, but I haven't been able to find a satisfactory answer to the following, and I guess rather basic, questions:
    Let's assume that in our app we want to use image files such as .gif or whatever other kind of resource.
    1. Where should we locate them? Is it okay to merge them in the java code structure or should we take them out?
    2. What is the proper way to access them (URLs, String paths...)?
    Thanks
    3. Is there any consideration with the previous questions when deploying the application in a jar file?
    you can place all images in one dirctory (ex image)
    and u can access the image_one in image directory using
    java.net.URL url = getClass().getResource("/image/image_one.jpg");
    it gives the path to the image
    and u can use java.awt.image to access the image
    u can bundle the images with jar files
  • Why do I need to restart Apache and Tomcat every time a java file is change
    If a java file is changed and complied the changes are not reflected if Tomcat is not restarted.
    The settings in server.xml are as:
    <!-- Tomcat Manager Context -->
    <Context path="/manager" docBase="manager" debug="0" privileged="true"/>
         <Context path="/cf" docBase="cf" debug="0" reloadable="false"/>
    Here "cf" is my Application folder under webapps. The reloadable property when set to "true" for standalone Tomcat on Windows98 reflects the changes for compiled java files without restarting Tomcat. But on Linux 7.1 with Apache 1.3.19 and Tomcat 4.0.3 this is not working.
    Also tried out with Manager Application of tomcat-users.xml with reloadable="false" as well as reloadable="true",
    But when I reload the application using the command
    http://servername:8080/manager/reload?path=/appli.name
    It tells me that the application is reloaded but changes in the java file are still not reflected.
    Also when reloaded through Manager Servlet, Only my load-on-startup servlet is reloaded, but other java classes are not.
    Is it neccessary to execute this reload command from the server itself. I m executing it from a remote m/c. and have mapped the application with a domain name virtually.
    Is it the case with Tomcat on Linux with Apache. Or is something going wrong on my part.
    Can someone Help out plz.
    Regards,
    Rupali
    or you can "touch" your web.xml file.
    touch web.xmlor that command is for *nix systems, not sure what the Windows command is.  But basically, when you edit the web.xml, even if it means updating the last modified time, it will restart only your application and you should see the changes.
  • How can I build EJB archive after changing java files?
    hello,
    I changed java beans file, and tried to build jar file again, then the "build EJB archive" context menu is disabled so I can not make EJB jar file!
    So frustrated.. NWDS recognizes the changes in the java files , right? How come there 's no Build menu..
    Is there any pre-requisite to enable the menu?
    I have no idea how I can build jar file..
    Please give me a advice.. Thanks~!
    I think that in order to create a RPM, you'd need to
    use some C.Nope - the RPM is all about packaging and the "magic" x.spec file. You can have anything you want in the RPM, but you have to use RPM tools to build the .rpm file. One of the features is that you can also indicate (via "install" scripts) modifications to other files or the filesystem to support the installation of whatever's in the RPM.
  • Ant ; how to move nonjava files to the output folder whn i comile java file
    Hi when i compile my java file using javac ant task, i want to move non java file to the same output folder where the dot class file are stored. example if a package has 2 java file and a .properties file, when i javac task compile that package .properties file should move where the .class files are moving. can anyone help me please
    An ant target can carry out multiple tasks. You need to put the <javac> and <copy> tasks in the same target in your ant file.
  • Load java file
    I have a jsp/java web application running on solaris using tomcat. When I change a jsp file and view the webpage through IE, the change is instant. But, when I make a change to a java file and compile the project, the new class files are created but the change does not take affect on IE until after I restart tomcat. Is there an easier way to have those class files reload other than restarting tomcat?
    Thanks
    The JVM running the tomcat server has already loaded
    the servlet's .class file and initialised the servlet
    object. It won't reload the .class file or restart
    the servlet automatically. One solution is to stop
    and then restart tomcat, so it will use the new
    .class file.
    Another solution is to use the manager application
    to issue a reload command for your web application.
    This will force tomcat to reload the new .class
    files without having to shutdown tomcat. For
    example: If your web application is called myapp and
    located in webapp/myapp, then using the following
    URL will use the manager to reload the application:
    http://localhost:8080/manager/reload?path=/myapp
    Those are the difficult ways of doing it. The real good solution in a development environment, which you guys have been overlooking, is to configure the Context of the web application as reloadable.
    http://www.coreservlets.com/Apache-Tomcat-Tutorial/#Servlet-Reloading
    An example is mentioned on the link above.
  • Changes made in book file are not reflected in RH when book is updated
    I'm using RH7 in TCS1.  (I know, I know, everybody else is on RH8 in TCS2). I've added a book file by reference to my project. Then I made a few changes to titles in my FM book, then updated my project, but none of the changes have been made in RH.
    Any ideas?
    You're not the only one using TCS1. I, too, must endure Adobe's initial FM-RH Integration software offering with its limited patches and multiple workarounds (I don't sound bitter, do I?).
    Do you have the latest patches?
    When you say you modified titles in your FM book, did you modify the document titles from the book file, thereby changing the file names? Or did you change heading styles within a FM document/chapter?
    If you changed the file name in any way, verify in the RH Project Manager that all links to the referenced FM files are not broken. If any file links are broken, you can resolve them in the RH Project Manager.
    Changing a heading name within a FM document should not cause you this grief, as long as the file links between FM and RH remain intact.
    As I don't know your level of experience, I'll make an suggestion to someone new to FM-RH integration (although, since you're using TCS1, I presume you are an experienced user). When updating the RH project, are you selecting Force Update or Update All. Force Update applies changes made in FM to your RH project. Update All only applies changes made in RH.
    Also, RH has a feature that allows you to select specific topics to ignore when running a Force Update (i.e. changes in FM won't be applied to the selected topics). Make sure no topics are selected for this purpose.
    If all else fails (and I don't recommend this unless you tried every other possibility), delete and re-import the book. There's another thread that helps you through this process without you having to manually reapply your settings.
    Good luck!
    I had a generic record class that has a HashMap to hold the data fields (...)
    method called createRecord() for each record type which would populate the HashMap with the correct data fieldsI'm not sure I understand: are the contents of this field map the same between two records of the same type? Then yes, you don't need to clone the map per record instance.
    one thing that needs fixing is the fact that each time the createRecord() method is called I'm creating a new fieldMap to define the dataFields in the record class.Probably, but that will only get you a little bigger files; you won't gain an order of magnitude on the size of files. The problem for huge files is that as soon as their content is bigger than the available memory, you'll run into problems. A more radical approach if you need to address huge files is to process the records on the fly, and not load all records in memory. Of course not all algorithms or business logic can afford that...
    I know I could rewrite the code and create a class for each record type and declare the fieldMap static but I was wondering if anyone had any better suggestions The Record instance could receive and keep a reference to its RecordType instance, and ask the RecordType instance the DataType for a field's name. That way the RecordType encapsulates the map, and there's less risk that a clumsy other class modifies the static map.
    before I go rewriting a load of code.A load of code?!? Even with the idea of the static map, you only have to edit the enum type (well more accurately, each RecordType enumerated constant's createRecord() method).
  • How to trace changes in directories and files in windows using java.
    Hi,
    Want to know how to trace changes in directories and files in windows using java.
    I need to create a java procedure that keeps track of any changes done in any directory and its files on a windows System and save this data.
    Edited by: shruti.ggn on Mar 20, 2009 1:56 AM
    chk out the bellow list,get the xml and make the procedure.....
         Notes
    1     Some of the similar software’s include HoneyBow, honeytrap, honeyC, captureHPC, honeymole, captureBAT, nepenthes.
    2     Some of the other hacking software’s include keyloggers. Keyloggers are used for monitoring the keystrokes typed by the user so that we can get the info or passwords one is typing. Some of the keyloggers include remote monitoring capability, it means that we can send the remote file across the network to someone else and then we can monitor the key strokes of that remote pc. Some of the famous keyloggers include win-spy, real-spy, family keylogger and stealth spy.
    3     Apart from theses tools mentioned above there are some more tools to include that are deepfreeze, Elcomsoft password cracking tools, Online DFS, StegAlyzer, Log analysis tools such as sawmill, etc.
  • Is it possible to update only one java file in my application bundles without re-deployment?
    For Example,
    i have a Application.java file in my application-bundles.jar and it is running.
    I need to add a new method in Application.java file alone while the instance is running.
    I know we can change .jsp file through CRX-DE lite, but looking for .java files.
    is it possible or can some one suggest an idea on this?
    Hi kalimisetty,
    It is part of bundles. It needs recompilation & deployment. Though server restart is not required.
    Thanks,
