Compiling issues: "/lib/cpp fails sanity check"

I've recently tried to compile software and have received the above error each time. The first occasion was using the port command in DarwinPorts to install GIMP 2.2.10. The second was today when I tried to configure ncurses 5.4. Following a websearch for info I discovered that perhaps my BSD Subsystem wasn't installed (seemed unlikely), and sure enough running locate stdio.h returned only a Perl file called nostdio.h. So I ran the installer package for the BSD Subsystem from the Panther Install Disc 1. However, to no avail: I still receive the same error message.
Can anyone help me with this?

Hi SiRGadaBout,
   stdio.h is installed with the Developer Tools or more specifically, by the DevSDK.pkg installer. The DevTools are now part of the Xcode installation, which is of course optional. Did you install that?

  • Xnee-2.00 Installation - /lib/cpp fails sanity check

    When I first tried running the configure file to start the installation process for this application, I ran into error after error and found solutions to them by installing packages off the SunOS cd's or from the sunfreeware site. But I cant find a solution to this problem.
    the output when running the configure script is as follows for the problem:
    checking how to run the C preprocessor... /lib/cpp
    configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check
    the config.log file is very long and full of compile errors...many are repeats and around the part where its failing the only problem i can see is a "conftest.c" line 14: Cant find include file assert.h....
    what are the packages i need for cpp to function, i have gcc-3.3.2 installed, are there others?? is there something else i'm going to run into later?? any help will be greatly appreciated

    Have you try to use pkg-get
    to get the binary from Sun?
    If you really need to compile it by yourself, get studio first to make it easier. It will install developer package library in the box and help to resolve your dependence problem.

  • Configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails

    I'm getting an error:
    configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check
    For several things, mainly svn of gaim, gaim-encryption, but I haven't tried others.  Any clue what this has to do with?

    i tried to install sabbu and subtitleeditor with abs/aur, and both stopped at configure.
    checking how to run the C++ preprocessor... /lib/cpp

    tried to reinstall kernel-headers-2.6.18-3 and gcc-4.1.1-3 ...no luck.
    (tried to remove them from cache then reinstall...still got the error msg)

    We have a /nhbcapps/lib for library and object library (pll, olb) files and we have a /nhbcapps/bin for executables (mmx, fmx, plx)
    We have our own envmt file, cdb.env (in same folder as default.env):

    Please could anyone help get this working?

    Your module NC_REF.fmb (or NC_REF.olb), which is referenced for shared objects, cannot be found. The best way to test it is to place it in the working directory (the start-in directory of the windows shortcut from where you launch Forms Builder). That way you are independent from the FORMS60_PATH, because the working directory is searched first.

  • Bailout: failed spill-split-recycle sanity check

    hi all
    i hope someone can help me!
    we have an enterprise portals productive installation on aix5.3
    it is based on netweaver 7.0
    i have just installed a java dialog instance on a windows 2003 server 64 bit which is happily talking to the central instance on aix BUT after changing the java parameters (sapnote 723909) for this new instance, the local windows dev_server0 file now complains with the following error:
    JHVM_BuildArgumentList: main method arguments of node server0
    210       com.sap.engine.core.configuration.impl.addons.PropertyName::init (154 bytes)

    211   COMPILE FAILED
    (there are many lines but i have just included one occurrence)
    i just wondered if anyone could tell me which java parameter could have caused this?
    i appreciate i could take out each parameter one by one and stop/start the instance to see when it stops complaining (and i will do this if no-one can help me)
    many thanks
    kirsty

    ok,
    i guess it was obvious really.....
    the flag: -XX:+PrintCompilation (which excludes certain classes from compiling in order to prevent possible server VM crashes) is recommended in note 723909 to help avoid crashes caused by certain classes.
    the thing is this flag seems to cause the class to fail a sanity check in order to stop it compiling which then writes out to the server log causing me unnecessary anguish.
    if the flag is there to prevent classes compiling it should do it cleanly and quietly so im not sure now whether i want it or not!!!
    anyway, apologies for anyone's time i wasted
    kirsty

    According to the findutils manual one should file a bug report for this message, but I don't think they expect glibc to be the buggy implementation of fnmatch that looks enough like the GNU version to fool configure, but which doesn't work properly.
    Does anybody experience similar problems? Does anybody have suggestions how to solve this?

    I've regenerated the locales multiple times but only the upgrade to findutils 4.5.12 worked.
    glibc 2.19-2 works with the current findutils.
    But if a corrupt locale archive file caused this, why didn't findutils 4.5.12 complained about this?
    Anyhow: It works, I'm happy; thanks for your effort, Allan!

    A system assertion check has failed. Check the SQL Server error log for details. Typically, an assertion failure is caused by a software bug or data corruption. To check for database corruption, consider running DBCC CHECKDB. If you agreed to send dumps to
    Microsoft during setup, a mini dump will be sent to Microsoft. An update might be available from Microsoft in the latest Service Pack or in a QFE from Technical Support.
    Msg 0, Level 20, State 0, Line 0
    A severe error occurred on the current command.  The results, if any, should be discarded.

    If you check your sql server error log folder you will see dump files created. You need to send those dump files to Microsoft for inspection because outside of microsoft product support the symbols for reading the dumps are not available without which it
    wont be easy to find the issue.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028589
    In the meantime check if you are on the latest version of Service Pack and if not apply the latest service pack. Majority of these kind of assertions are bugs which are solved in Service Packs/Cumulative Updates.

    Have checked all my classpaths and jar's which are found to be in order. What can be the problem?

    I changed some of the paths in the build file but now I am having compilation issues. It says the classpath is not set correctly. But I have included all the jar's properly in the build.xml.
    Any pointers to where I might be going wrong?

  • Pro*C - PERCENT_RANK() compilation issue

    Hello,
    I have a pro*C compilation issue, while using PERCENT_RANK() in-built function. I am using Oracle 10.2.0.4.
    Here are the details :
    The Pro*C code :
    ================================================== ========
    int srccct2_insert()
    EXEC SQL
    select * from (
    select
    trad_code,

    where pr > 0.05 and pr < 0.95 and base_saly > 641840;
    return SUCCESS;

    I am compiling it like this :

    I have put the same sql statements in the sql promt and it works fine. But in Pro*C when i compile it using above options, here is the error :

    After searching in this website, i saw a related thread. But that solution did not work for me. I have posted a reply on that aswell, for Mark_Williams. Here is the related link:
    Re: help for analysis function in PRO*C
    Please help me on this.
    Thanks,
    Kumar

    Hi Sumit,
    Thanks much for a reply.
    I am very novice for Pro*C. Please bear with me, if i sound odd anywhere.
    I did check the program again. When i leave EXEC SQL and put the whole SELECT statement in double quotes and then postfix back slashes at each line in the SELECT statement, compilation succeeds. But I am just wondering, if this works fine, even if we don't use, "EXEC SQL" ?
    When we use "EXEC SQL" and double quotes also, there seems to be two double quotes before SELECT and so compilation fails, with the below error msg. I think "EXEC SQL" is also appending a double quote.(??)
    I did not really understand when you said "declaring the sql statement and calling EXEC SQL PREPARE". Are you talking about declaring the sql statement in sqlplus ?
    If the above method of removing "EXEC SQL" and using double quotes and slashes is correct, then i think we anyway need not do anything else as the compilation went through.
    Thanks again,
    -Kumar

    Would you provide some details on how you’re calling this, which branch (e.g. Compiler is now known as Mxmlc on the trunk)? You need to have all libs from trunk/lib on the classpath.

      Batik-related compiler issue
    I received this error calling the flex2.tools.Compiler’s main[] method.  The MXML input compiles successfully in the Flex 2 builder.  I wanted to check to see if anyone had experienced this before digging deeper into source code.

  • "Occasionally" successful compilation issue on sun4v machine.

    Hi,
    I have created a thread on JSP section of the forum for this.
    Intermittently successful JSP compilation issue
    But I am putting the link here too because the only difference between the success and failed case is the platform we are using. We are using Solaris SPARC machines.
    The compilation is a success on sun4u machine.
    But on sun4v is mostly a failure (sometimes it succeeds though strangely).
    I will be very grateful if you can go through the thread I have shared above and share some pointers on this.
    Regards

    Hi Ted,
    Thanks for the reply.The file is not available in the server. Though, I checked CMS and I found an instance in history tab and the status is failed with error below.
                Error Message:
                A variable prevented the data provider Query 1 with BANRRD30 from being refreshed. (DMA0008).When I checked my codes, I found out that the object Im using is for web intelligence data provider. However, I cannot find any documentation and example for passing parameter values in desktop intelligence data provider. Any idea on this? You think this is not suported by Report Engine SDK?Thanks.

  • Error Message: The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

    I have a web page that contains a ReportViewer control.  I am trying to display a report, which is an .rdl file located on the SSRS server, in this ReportViewer control.  I have set the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl correctly.  I am
    getting an error message.
    Am I suppose to use an .rdlc file rather than a .rdl file?  Does the web server configuration need to use a certain account?
     I am getting the following error message:
    The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version.
    The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

    Hi bucaroov,
    The error "The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found." means the ReportServerURL configured in the ReportViewer control is invalid.
    Please follow these steps to solve the issue:
    Logon the Report Server machine.
    Open the Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
    Copy the Report Server URL from 'Web Services URL'.
    Logon the application server(in this case, it is the server that host the web page), check if we can use the URL we got from step 3 to access the Report Server. If so, please replace the ReportServerURL in the ReportViewer control with this URL. If it is
    not available, could you please post the error message.
    Additionaly, we don't need to provide the extension for a server report. The ReportPath should be like: /<reports folder>/<report name>
    For more information, please see:

    If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

    The CertificateException message is :
    Invalid Netscape CertType extension for SSL client
    And the source of error is : failed extension check
    The following is the trace SSL Server.
    D:\users\Jp\java\jssesamples\sockets\server\class>java -Djavax.net.debug=SSL,handshake,data,trustmanager ClassFileServer 1089

    USAGE: java ClassFileServer port docroot [TLS [true]]
    If the third argument is TLS, it will start as
    a TLS/SSL file server, otherwise, it will be
    an ordinary file server.
    If the fourth argument is true,it will require

    I'm having a related problem. It only occurs on the 1.4.1 version of the JRE. The 1.4.0 works fine. I've created my own custom socket for an RMI server that uses SSL to encrypt any data being sent. I have a valid certificate that works fine to encrypt data from my web server. The client gets the same exception that was posted above. Here is the stack trace on the client's machine if they are running the 1.4.1 JRE:

    I also created my own homemade certificate and get the same results. Like I said before, the 1.4.0 JRE doesn't do this so it seems to be a new bug in the 1.4.1. Does anyone know how to get around this or what is causing this problem? Thanks.

  • Oracle UCM fails to check in text/xml files

    We have an Oracle UCM server that is failing to check in xml files over a certain size - I haven't narrowed down the size limit yet, but a <100kb file will work 100% of the time, while 300+ Kb xml files fail almost all the time, though there has been some success. Image files and zip file succeed on new check ins 100% of the time as well. We have tried with the SOAP API and the UCM new check in form - in both cases we get an empty repsonse from the server. In firefox we get the "The connection was reset" page. I'm at a loss as to explain why, but I have almost no experience with Oracle UCM. This particular server has been running for over a year happily accepting xml files of all sizes, then one day just stopped - as far as I am aware, nobody changed any
    settings/upgraded anything/changed network topology.
    When I look in the server output, I don't really see any indication of failure or find any mention of the file name or content title like I do when a file successfully checks in.
    I have already asked the DBA to drop and rebuild the database index, started the Collection rebuild cycle (it finished successfully) and turned on the webless file store option on the defaultfilestore provider.
    UCS Version : 10.1.3.3.3 (080807) (Build:7.2.2.188)
    Database : Microsoft SQL Server 09.00.4035 currently using DATABASE.METADATA though I think it was at one point using Full text search, but the database was not.
    Java Version:1.6.0
    Please ask if there is any other information you need, but I do not have physical access to the machine, and I may not be able to reveal certain info due to privacy/security concerns.

    Hello,
    I think you should open an SR with support to help out. Be that as it may, here's some observations/suggestions...
    * You are running a 4-year old content server. There have been numerous fixes since then. Your system may have grown to a point where it's hit one of the older issues.
    * Is it possible the XML encoding may have changed? i.e. that whatever generates the XML files is now generating them slightly differently and therefore the encoding is different so check-in doesn't follow the same rules? I'd look at the first line of older files versus the new files which fail. If there's a difference, refer to KM note 978689.1 in our knowledge base.
    * You say there doesn't appear to be anything in the logs, so let's increase them:
    - Login to UCM as Administrator. Go to Administration->System Audit Information. Switch on the Full Verbose Tracing checkbox. In the Active Sections field, put in:
    systemdatabase - this will show you what queries and inserts are made to the database and should show whether there's a problem at that level.
    requestaudit - this shows you the requests as they come in, as well as a roundup of all requests every 2 minutes. If you see large amounts of time being taken on requests, your server could be creaking because of resources.
    publish - tells you about publishing related issues, most XML file check-ins are related to this.
    - Try to check in a file which should fail.
    - Switch off verbose logging (see above) to reduce overhead.
    If the OS is Windows then the <install>/config.cfg file needs to have UseRedirectedOutput=true in order to generate a log file for this tracing. On Windows the file is the <install>/bin/IdcServerNT.log file. (if the above config is set)
    On *nix it is in the <install>/etc/log file (notice that there is no file extension on the file)
    If none of the logs helps you, an SR is probably in order.

  • SAP RFC SDK 7.10 Compilation Issues

    Hello ,
    We have a Pro*C program that is using the RFC SDK 7.10
    When we are compiling our program with Pro*C Compiler in HP UX 11iv2 os we are getting the following errors:
    SAP_U16_PROTOTYPE_STDC(mkstemp)..1 PCC-S-02201, Encountered the symbol "mkstemp" when expecting one of the following: Error at line 1895, column 1 in file /home/psoni/rfcsdk-710/orgseclib/sapuc.h  SAP_U16_PROTOTYPE_UO(dirname) 1
    PCC-S-02201, Encountered the symbol "SAP_U16_PROTOTYPE_UO_HLP" when expecting on
    e of the following: ; , = ( [ * ? | & < > + - / % . ^ *= /= %= += -= <<= >>= &&=
       ||= ^= | & == != <= >= << >> ++ -- ->
    The symbol ";" was substituted for "SAP_U16_PROTOTYPE_UO_HLP" to continue.
    Syntax error at line 1901, column 1, file /home/psoni/rfcsdk-710/orgseclib/sapuc.h:
    Error at line 1901, column 1 in file /home/psoni/rfcsdk-710/orgseclib/sapuc.h
    SAP_U16_PROTOTYPE(ecvt) 1
    PCC-S-02201, Encountered the symbol "extern" when expecting one of the following
    :   ; , = ( [ * ? | & < > + - / % . ^ *= /= %= += -= <<= >>= &&=
       ||= ^= | & == != <= >= << >> ++ -- ->
    I had checked the files sapuc.h and sapucx.h are correctly included in my program.
    Also I checked for the errors : that the reference of some constants like
    SAP_U16_PROTOTYPE is present is sapuc.h - However I am not able to
    identify the cause of compilation issues.
    Please can anyone guide me - or give any hints as to how this compilation issues can be resolved.
    On sap rfc sdk version 6.20 with HPUnix 11iV1  we did not face such problems. Post that release  we have tried all libraries including 6.40  and all of them are giving the above errors.
    Thanks for the help.
    Regards,
    Shivani

    This compiler error looks really strange.
    Without your sources (of the affected file) and the full command line it's impossible to suggest something.
