Completed Library export - can't import it

I exported a a bunch of projects as a new library via Aperture v3.4.3, it said it completed. I saw the lib on the other disk, proceeded to delete the projects from my local and went about my day. When I go to import it into another library on my new Macbook, it says the library is still exporting and I need to wait until it's done. I guarantee the export said it was done before I deleted from the main library. How can I recover this export? I see all the masters are there by date in the collection but I've got some projects/albums that are pretty particular and I don't want to hunt out individual pictures by date to manually re-create. Is there a way to update something so that Aperture recognizes the export as being complete? Or are there other utilities to read the export database files so I can at least figure out where the photos are for the projects/albums I care about?
Thanks

Probably should have tried that sooner So it's a little slow but it opens the library, and it just told me it found some inconsistencies and it restarted to fix the database. Right before it restarted, I saw the projects I was interested in and the photos inside so I'm pretty confident this will fix it up.
Thanks for the suggestion!!

  • Programatically create objects in library which can be imported to stage

    I need to create an object in code which can then be imported to the stage.
    Specifically it's a circle with an ellipse cut out of it.  The size and position of the ellipse masked out need to be parameterized by sliders, and the size of the circle as a whole is also a parameter which might be dragged out on the stage.
    Does anyone have an example of how to programatically create an object in action script which can be imported to the library which can take parameters (or rather expose some methods) which can be wired to other things in the project like a knob or slider?
    Thanks in advance!
    Michael Grant

    you can use the function below.  call it passing parameters for the circle's absolute x, y, radius and color and passing the ellipses (relative to the circle) x,y,radius x, radius y.  a sprite is returned with the graphics, i think, you want:
    ////////////  sample function call: ///////////////////////////////////////////////
    var c:Sprite = circleMinusEllipse(100,200,50,0xaa0000,-40,-20,40,20);
    addChild(c);
    //////////// nothing below needs to be changed ////////////////////////
    function circleMinusEllipse(cX:Number,cY:Number,r:Number,col:Number,eX:Number,eY:Number,rX:Number, rY:Number):Sprite{
        var c:Sprite = new Sprite();
        c.x = cX;
        c.y = cY;
        with(c.graphics){
            beginFill(col);
            drawCircle(0,0,r);
            drawEllipse(eX,eY,2*rX,2*rY);
            endFill();
        return c;

  • I just purchased Aperture and have 20,000  photos in my iPhoto Library. Can I import only certain events from iPhoto into Aperture or do I have to merge the whole iPhoto library?

    I just purchased Aperture and have 20,000 + photos in my iPhoto Library. I see that I can create a unified library between the two. I am wondering if I can import only certain events from iPhoto (like only 2014 events) into Aperture or do I have to merge the whole iPhoto library? Are there any benefits to bringing the whole iPhoto library over to Aperture (iPhoto is SO SLOW for me, I wonder if it is because I have so many photos). Or, any detriment to only bring a few events over?
    And, if I don't merge the two libraries, I assume that means I cannot do it at a later date?
    Help. My local Apple store has had very few Aperture workshops, and the next one is like 2 months away.

    Thank you so much for this information. Here are some responses/comments:
    Disk space - it says 114.43 GB out of 499.25 GB free. I have no idea if that is enough.
    iPhoto version is 9.5.1
    Again, I am not sure how to know if I have 3rd party software...but I don't think I do. Is 3rd party software anything non-apple?
    I will try rebuilding the library. if that doesn't help, maybe I need more memory...? That is what Apple suggested, but that, of course, means buying something else. I've already bought APERTURE, on their recommendation...
    It wasn't, and they told me it was slow because I had too many photos for iPhoto to handle and that I should buy Aperture. Which I did.
    What is your iPhoto version? Are you using the most recent version 9.5.1?
    iPhoto can handle 20000 photos, no problem.  Your computer can be slow for several reasons:
    The most common problem for slowness - insufficient disk space. Don't let your free disk space drop below 20 GB of free space, better more. If the operating system does not have enough working space and the applications you are using, you will notice a very lagging behaviour.
    Older or incompatible softweare can cripple your mac. Do you have any older third-party software installed, that might have installed incompatible kernel extensions?
    Aperture might be slow or keep crashing, if you imported a corrupted image or incompatible video,  that cannot be processed. Then Aperture will try over and over again to create previews and never succeed.  You could test for this situation, by launching Aperture with the Shift-key held down. This will defer the generation of previews. If Aperture will launch and work better this way, you probably have some bad media in your photo library.
    Another problem to check for is a corruption of your Aperture/iPhoto library. You have run the First Aid Tools to repair the iPhoto Library, but have you ever tried to rebuild the library? See this post by Old Toad: Rebuild iPhoto Version 11

  • Corrupted iPhoto 08 Library? Can't import

    I am using iPhoto 08 on an iMac- and have been for the past ~6 months.
    In the past few days, I have noticed a problem: when I connect my camera to the iMac and try to import new photos, I get the following error message:
    Unreadable Files: 16
    The following files could not be imported. (The import failed.)
    /private/var/folders/2A/2Ai0U7mJEo4-xGHxDVwtoU+TM/-Tmp-/iPhoto/IMG_1751.JPG
    Several things I notice:
    1. The problem occurs with two different cameras.
    2. If I import the pictures on another machine and then attempt to import the files from a memory stick, same problem.
    3. If I sign on under a different account on the iMac that has the issue, I can import photos.
    Sounds like a corrupt library or user/preference issue... any ideas or suggestions of how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    ionmenon

    1. Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    2. If that fails: Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Can I import library from one account to another account?

    I have a work account and a personal account and I'd love access to my photos, music, etc, in my personal library. Can I import or sync the libraries? Thanks, Steve

    let's try this again...
    account = library...
    I have 2 libraries, one under username "A" (personal) and one under username "B" (work).
    it doesn't matter if they're work or personal, they were just names to refer to different accounts.
    I have a library...the library is on a PC. I synced with an iPad. I'm syncing with a new PC ("B" or "work") and would like the import the library from the first PC but created with a different Apple account/ID ("personal" or "work").
    I hope this helps explain my question.

    To move the iTunes library to this new computer I switched on Home Sharing and can see the other libraries on my home network.  If I select tracks from a Shared library I can't import them as the strip containing "Show: All Items" and the "Settings" and "Import" buttons, does not display at the bottom of the screen.  Goes straight from the list of tracks to the strip with Playlist icons and xxxx items, tttttt total time, yyyy GB.

  • I can only import photos in groups of three

    This is a new development, perhaps since the last iPhoto update? Anyway, let's say I have 15 photos to import, Pentax K-50, iPhoto freezes after three are imported. The only way out seems to be to turn off camera or unplug it then repeat the process every THREE pictures. I've reformatted the card in the camera and perhaps it worked once but the problem is back.

    There is something wrong with your set-up.
    iPhoto can import much more photos in one session.
    Tell us more about your system:
    How much free disk space do you have?
    Where is your iPhoto library located?
    What is your iPhoto version? Your MacOS X version?
    Did iPhoto have any crashes lately?
    Try this as a test:  Create a new iPhoto library by launching iPhoto with the alt/option key held down and select to create a new iPhoto library.  Can you import into a new library without problems?

    It should be like the very first time you synced your phone with I-Tunes. It will notice you haven't synced before and just copy everything from your phone into I-Tunes. It shouldn't delete anything from the phone, at least it never has for me. It just puts a copy of everything into I-Tunes and even if you delete an app for example from your phone and you decide you want it back later, you can just go back into I-Tunes and copy it back over. Hope this helps.

  • Can't import entire iTunes library from external hard drive

    I recently had to reset my IBM ThinkPad T40 (Windows XP) to factory settings. Of course, I backuped up my iTunes library on an external hard drive, and there didn't seem to be any problems doing so. (I've had to do the same thing before) But I can't re-import the entire library now! It only imports about a thousand songs (I had about 5,000), and I get an error message saying "The file iTunes Library.itl~ cannot be imported becuase it does not appear to be a valid exported file.") I also tried to import a previous back-up (stored in a different folder, and it wouldn't import all of those files, either -- no more than in the more recent backup files) either. I've tried re-downloading the iTunes software several times. Help!!!!
    Thanks!!!
    PS: Is there a way to sync my iPod to import songs from that BACK into itunes?
    IBM ThinkPad T40   Windows XP

    This seems to have deleted ALL of my iTunes. The folder (and all iTunes files) is still there on my backup, but now the newly-installed iTunes won't import ANYTHING (It at least imported about 1,000 (out of 5,000) songs before. But now it says all files are invalid, regardless of where I attempt to import them from. (although the names of some playlists import -- but they're empty files) It appears that SOME of the music files are located on the backup copy, but simply won't import. Perhaps they're corrupted?

  • How can I import an m4v movie from my desktop to my event Library in iMovie?

    How can I import an m4v movie from my desktop to my event Library in iMovie?  I want to include the m4v movie into another project in iMovie.

    When you import DV Stream from tape, iMovie 11 will assume that you are importing raw footage from a camera, rather than a finished movie. It will create a new clip everytime it detects a scene break (the record start/stop button was pressed). These clips will be placed in chronolgical order - not the order they were on the tape.
    One way around this is to import the tape into the application that you used to create it. For example, if you used iMovie 6, import the tape back into imovie 6. In iMovie 6, you can export the tape back out using FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose the DV codec in an MOV container.  You can then import this MOV file into iMovie 11 and have everything in the proper order for your finished movie.
    Another option is to use FInal Cut Pro X.

  • How can I force a library update without re-importing songs?

    I have thousands of MP3s that are already imported into iTunes (v5.0.1.4). Unfortunately my ID tags are far from complete and I use another software package to modify them on a regular basis. The problem is that iTunes does not recognize these changes (since I suppose it has already stored the info about the MP3 in its library during the initial import). I know I can remove the MP3 from the library and re-import it, but I really don't want to do so. Is there any other way of forcing a library update?

    OK. I just want it to read the info from my iTunes folder
    (Edit>Preferences>Advanced>iTunes Music Folder Location) and use that to update the *itl file. My current itl file is a backup from last week, but the iTunes music folder had several additions during the last few days
    However, after renaming and running:
    Script: C:\update.js
    Line: 11
    Char: 2
    Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
    Code: 800A01B6

  • Can't import iphoto library into Lightroom

    Lightroom does not appear to recognise my pics in the Mac iphoto library.  I can import from other folders/files but not directory from iphoto. Likewise I can't export a photo back into iphoto once it has been "developed" in Lightroom.
    Do I have to change some preferences or something?

    I recently changed my pc for a mac and all my old photo files were transferred across into iphoto and any new photos from my camera were imported straight into iphoto.   I have since started a course where we use Lightroom but find I can't import any photos stored in iphoto into Lightroom.  iphoto is always "shaded out" in the list when I try to import into Lightroom.
    What do you suggest I do in order to import these photos into Lightroom?

  • Can I import photos from an old iPhoto library?

    Can I import photos from an old iPhoto library on an external hard drive to my current iPhoto library?  The icon on the hard drive appears greyed out when I try via Import.

    Open the older library and export the Photos from it to the Finder (File -> Export) and switch to the new Library and import those.
    Or, use  iPhoto Library Manager to move the photos, plus all the versions and associated metadata to the new Library.

  • How can I get my aperture library exported to iphoto?

    Can anyone specifically tell me how to move pictures from aperture to iphoto? Thanks!

    You can't import an entire actual Aperture library file into iPhoto.
    But you can always create an album with all the images you want to export, select File>Export Versions and then export them to a folder where you can then import them from within iPhoto. You'll be making duplicates (just so you'll know that it will take up some additional disk space.)
    If you have some sort of structure you want, you could do this with multiple albums so that iPhoto imports them as individual rolls.
