Complex folders join and copy.

hi all,
my problem:
i have table a column: id,price,type,part.
now the type column is separate the table to different matters.
what is best to do :
create 2 complex folder and drag my columns to each and add the appropriate condition to each one?
or
import the table twice to 2 different folders and range it (by type) in each of them. ?
last question:
how do I copy an item object to complex folder ,in a way that every time I change it in the source folder the changes applied to the complex folder ?
thanks doron

  • Complex Inner Join and subquery on outer where clause on inner join?

The DDL for this post was too big and I had to put on my website:
    http://www.harbortownsolutions.com/DDLForDORTable.txt
My goal is to create a report of sales data for 116 stores containing daily sales and guest count to last years. My challenge is I'm pulling data from the same table but with different dates to get data from last year and Week to date data from last year.
    Dates used for reports are:
    SalesDate = 6/4/2009
    SalesDateForLastYear = 6/5/2008
    SalesDateBeginningOfWeek = 6/1/2009
    SalesDateBginningOFWeekLastYear = 6/2/2008

Also How would I integrate the following script from HOEK:
See How do I set 1 field based on another field's value
It gets a record for each store of the 116 stores from inventory database. There were 2 situations that were addressed by Hoeks code:
For each of the 116 stores in store table, there must be 1 and only
1 inventory record to match the MyStoreTotals record. However, sometimes there will be no inventory record.
and sometimes there will be 2 (in a case where a manager updates database
after daily processing) records. if so, the record with Is_posted = 1
is the one that should be included in query. The following accomplishes this:
    -- chr(39) is single quote
    Select StoreId,

  • Syncronization: How can i store mail for different accounts remotely, and copy most important mails manually to local folders on two devices?

Hello. I have two devices and two accounts, so what i want is this:
I only want to store mail from both accounts in a remote place and copy most important mails to local folders.
(I will be grateful for any ideas as to where/how this "cloud" can be - specially free places)
    * Can I have a copy of these local folders in both devices and the remote storage?
    * Could i synchronize devices so that: when i move a mail to a local folder in any device, its copied to the same folders in
the other device and the remote storage place?
    * The remote storage place will have many other folders. When I open Thunderbird, I also want to see these and the mail
inside, and also be able to move mail from the inbox to these folders.
    * One of the accounts is gmail. In Account Setting tool, there is an option for synchronization. If there is no easier way, I can have mail for other account copied to gmail, and just syncronize gmail mail. For this, how will I copy my present folder structure to gmail. And how can I syncronize the local folders on the two devices?
    Thanks in advance.

The first awkwardness I see is that there's no obvious format in which to store messages remotely such that you can work with them in an email client. It may be possible to set the "Local Directory" option in the account in Thunderbird to point at some remote folder (DropBox comes to mind) but I have never tried this and I'd be nervous about what happens if connection can't be made, or if you happened to access it from two different places simultaneously. The other concern is that mail stores get big, quickly, and you'd be forever uploading and downloading large (multi gigabyte) files. Thunderbird stores what looks like a folder containing many separate messages as one big file, so there's no simple opportunity for incremental changes to be up/down loaded.
The whole idea of Local Folders in Thunderbird is to detach messages from servers, so they don't track what happens on servers. I say this to point out the distinction between files stored locally and permanently ("Local Folders"), versus cached copies of online files ("synchronized"). It's not safe to regard your synchronized folders as permanent.
So, synchronized folders on an IMAP server are "mirrored" in Thunderbird so you do have a local (albeit temporary and transient) copy of messages; this is done mainly to avoid repeatedly downloading messages if you re-read them, and it makes searching faster an more efficient. But these "synchronized" message track what's being done on the server, and so if they are deleted anywhere, all synchronized devices will at some point also see the deleted messages vanishing. (Unless you made a local copy in the Local Folders account.)
I use a gmail account pretty much as you have described; I copy or move messages to that account so they are visible in my phone, my tablet, my own laptop and my works computer. It's free, and it's "in the cloud"; the only reservation I have is its privacy. There are other providers (e.g. 1&1/gmx) who don't seem to have the data collection fetish that google thrives on.
It's fairly simple to create filters in Thunderbird to automatically copy messages to your "cloud account"; even better is to set up forwarding rules on the other accounts' servers, so your messages are automatically sent on and waiting for you when you next login, already in the cloud account.

  • Blackbery Link - browse pc folders and copy mp3 files not in music folder

    Hello to all of you
I have music archives in different drives and pendrives
It is not intuhitive at all how to browse local PC drives and or PC folders to select and copy single or many .mp3 files from the PC to the BlackBerry device.
Please don't tell me that the silly solution is to move the mp3 files to the windows music folder.
Additionally, i find really against an user friendly approach the BlackBerry Link in the music section. It doesn't allow to show the mp3 files names and use, manage and browse .mp3 files by their name, I see only
    - All the music
    - Album
    - Artists
    - Genres
    - Playlists
    well,
    - I have so many .mp3 files
    - they don't have all the mp3 tags
    - I see only an unfinished list which doesn't allow me to select the file I need, and I must scroll all of them every time
A TOTAL NO SENSE in my personal opinion
Anyway , from BalckBerry Link and from PC side, how to select one single mp3 file, QUICKLY, and copy it inside the BlackBerry device in the music folder?
    Thank you
    C0r

    Yes CRAZY!!! It is confirmed,
trying to find a solution to this crazy behavior, I've turned to documents side.
I've added my mysic folder to the documents and TA-DAAAH! The .mp3 files don't show!!!
On the right panel a big string says "The folder doesn't contain supported files"!!!
Well, looks like that BlackBerry Link leaks like the OS 10
Anyway, if you can provide a solution that allows to copy mp3 files ID3-less (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3), mean that none of the ID3 has been filled, thank you so much in advance.
To BB Link developers, think about allow users to tranfer files as files and not as you arbitrary want, thank you.

  • Note:  Mail.app and Folders with Dovecot - Copying Folders w Subfolders

I found a problem with Apple Mail regarding folder creation with the new Dovecot Server...
Say you import some mail from Eudora or some other mail client, and you have folders with no messages, only subfolders (or mailboxes if you want to call them that). The mailbox on "My Mac" appears white instead of blue, and you can see the subfolders just fine and everything looks great. Drag that folder (the white one with subfolders) to your IMAP account to copy it to the server. It will copy just fine. Now try to rename or delete that white folder you just copied to the server. You will get the following error:
For this example I will call the problem folder "TestFolder"
The IMAP command RENAME (or DELETE if you try to delete) (to TestFolder) failed with the server error: Mailbox does not exist: TestFolder
    The problem is this:
Dovecot creates folders and subfolders as separate directories on the server:
    .TestFolder
    .TestFolder.TestSubFolder1
    .TestFolder.TestSubFolder2
In the above example, there is a folder (or mailbox) called TestFolder with two folders inside it, TestSubFolder1, and TestSubFolder2. This example is the correct way to create a folder with dovecot, or if not "correct", at least you can delete or rename the "TestFolder" without an error.
What happens with Apple Mail (Mail.app), is that when you drag a white folder to the server, it would create the following:
    .TestFolder.TestSubFolder1
    .TestFolder.TestSubFolder2
Notice the root folder .TestFolder is missing. This is why you get the error message noted above. If you create .TestFolder in the directory, chmod 700 .TestFolder and chown <username> .TestFolder, you can rename or delete the problem folder (notice it turns blue as well). This gets rather annoying when dealing with multiple folders/subfolders, and is not a real graceful way of dealing with the situation.
Apparently there is some intended difference with the white folders and blue folders, in that blue folders can contain messages but white folders can only contain other folders. Great, but Mail.app needs to somehow create the folder on the server in a way that is compatible with Dovecot.
If someone has a developer account (mine keeps complaining that there is missing information, but there is no missing information and won't let me log in), could you post this as a bug report? I'll deal with my developer account later...
    Thanks.

    > It's not that they don't show up in Mail. In Mail, they are in their
(manually) sorted folders. On the server they are in BOTH their
sorted folder, AND the main inbox where they first appeared.
Yes, but what I’m saying is that, according to your reports, even after rebuilding the Inbox of the .Mac account that has the problem, there are still messages in that mailbox on the server that don’t show up in Mail in that same mailbox. Is that correct? This is what doesn’t make sense to me...
    > Mac-mydotmacusername1
    Mac-mydotmacusername2
    [email protected]
So you have two .Mac accounts and a POP account. You hadn’t mentioned this before, had you? I got the impression that you only had one .Mac account...
Which account has the problem, i.e. for which account there are messages on the server’s Inbox that don’t show up in Mail even after rebuilding that mailbox? Are you moving messages from a .Mac account’s Inbox to custom mailboxes of that same account or to mailboxes associated with the other .Mac account?
    <hr>
Try this to determine the scope of the problem:
    1. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Accounts and create a new user account for testing purposes.
    2. Either log out of your main user account or just quit Mail so that it does not interfere with the other user account.
    3. Log in as the newly created user and set up Mail anew there.
    4. For spam-related security reasons, go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    5. If you set up a POP account, go to Preferences > Accounts > Advanced and disable Remove copy from server after retrieving a message if it’s enabled, to avoid messages being accidentally removed from the server while testing.
    6. Check whether the problem also happens when logged in as another user.

  • 'Info' file count varies between original and copied folders

Unlike Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion 'Info' counts hidden files in folders (usually .DS files).  However copied folders, often to different locations, computers, etc, do not count to the same total as the original folder.  How can I stop 'Info' counting hidden files in a folder, so that I can check acturately folder contents between original and copied folders.  I do not want to have to open each folder and check the count at the bottom of the window, this is very time consuming when dealing with many folders
I hope there is an easy answer ??

You can do this simply in Terminal with the command
    ls [directory] wc -l
This will only count the files and folders at the top level (i.e., not the contents of folders within it) and it won't count hidden files.
    Examples:
if you want to count how many files are in your home user folder
    ls -1 ~/ | wc -l
If you want to count how many files are in your desktop folder
    ls -1 ~/Desktop | wc -l
If you want to count how many files are in a folder called 'Temp' on your Desktop:
    ls -1 ~/Desktop/Temp | wc -l
If you want to count how many files are in your Trash:
    ls -1 ~/.Trash | wc -l
If you want more sophisticated counts, such as subdirectories, type
    man ls
into Terminal to read the manual on the various options you can use with the 'ls' command.

  • Complex Folders Vs Database Views - Discoverer 10g

    Hello All,
The way complex folders works is almost similar to creating a database view and using that to create a custom folder.
So could someone advise wrt peformance etc which is a better option ?
Creating complex folders gives the flexibility to change whatever changes are rqd using disco admin and does not reqd even logging to which incase of DB views would need to be done to recreate a view incase of any changes. But would like to weigh down both the options on other parameters.
One thing i see is implementing oracle apps security is easier using DB views...but again..i could create custom folders using select * from table where gl_security_pkg concept and then create complex folders using these folders ?
    Any thoughts would be helpful
    Thanks.

    Vishalg.
The way I've always considered it is as follows:
    1. I prefer not to be 'married' to one tool (ie: Disco) and therefore always recommend writing database views over custom / complex folders if possible. That way, database tools such as TOAD, SQL Nav, SQL Dev, etc. can also use the view (not to mention Oracle Reports, etc. as well).
With that in mind, I try to have most folders just pointing to a database view and all the 'fine tuning' done in the folder (ie: column order, hierarchies, security, etc.).
    2. I do use custom folders when it's a LOV that's used in an item class. For example, you could create a simple LOV in a folder on an item, by just using that item for the source and the output. However, if it's a big dataset or you want to go to another table that's small and just has the distinct values for example, a custom folder is perfect for creating (I always put a _LOV extension on the folder name so I know) and setting an item class against.
Sometimes though, I've created a LOV for the list and then have just brought it in to a folder by simply pointing to it. It's the same kind of consideration in 1. above - if I'm creating a system that may be used by other tools - or God forbid - a client wants to move to another query tool like Cognos, BO, etc. then all the views are already there in the database and you just have to build their version of the middle layer (ie: catalog, universe, etc.).
    3. I don't think I've ever had to use a complex folder. The concept is good though as in you can have 2 folders that are joined, but you want to create another folder that only has certain fields from each of the original 2 folders and that's the one a user uses.
But same consideration as above. Do I want to completely customize the Disco EUL, or use it more as a 'delivery device' (hey ... good term!).
One other big consideration for all this is that if you work in a shop where they have a big (read obnoxious) DBA who doesn't "allow views in his database" (been there), then you can always do the custom / complex folder thing from within Disco Admin and keep the DBA happy. However, once he's fired for being obnoxious and then new "touchie-feely" DBA comes on board, you may curse why you had to create a custom EUL in the first place.
All just your point of view, but I'm a view guy all the way.

  • How to create a new account and copy all settings?

I think my main user account is corrupted. So I want to create a new account and copy all of my settings, files etc..and more than likely piecemeal just incase my settings are what is corrupted. That way I can isolate the problem.
I don't plan to delete the main account until satisfied and I also have my Time Machine backup plus my SuperDuper backup.
I can/should be able to figure out how to create the new account, but I am very unclear on the best/easiest approach to copy in my iTunes files and settings, applications(is this even an issue), address book, email, etc? I should be able to find most everything underneath my home account folders but what else am I missing here? I don't want to find out the hard way.
Please share some advice or perhaps a link/FAQ on how to approach.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Folders that I copy from my Macbook to my External Hard Disk does NOT appear on any other drive that I connect the Hard disk to (TV, PC, ... etc.)

    I'm facing a bit of a problem.
Any folder I copy from my Macbook Pro to my External Hard Disk does NOT appear on any other device that I connect the Hard Disk to (TV, PC, etc).
The Hard disk format is "MS-DOS (FAT)".
The folders that are copied from Macbook appear when I connect the Hard Disk to my Macbook only, yet, the folders that I copy from a PC to the Hard Disk appear on Macbook, PC, and TV and are also available from editing from both Mac and PC.
I was advised to install "Paragon" software and I did but I'm not sure how to use it to convert the folders on the hard drive to any format that can be read on other drives or devices (NTFS or otherwise).
I'd appreciate some help. Thank you.

Hi Simon.  How is it formatted, FAT or NTFS?
I only ask as OSX will only read NTFS partitions unless you install an App such as Paragon NTFS or Tuxera NTFS.

  • PSE-10 how do I import and copy from external hard drive into organizer

Can I import and copy from external hard drive into organizer? Under Get Photos, I select import  from folders/files but after browsing to the external hard drive the copy option is disabled/greyed out. I there a method to import and copy?

That would be mounted as an internal drive and hence the corresponding option is not checked during Import.
Once you import the media form this drive, you can select all and go for File >> Copy/Move files option and copy them wherever you want to.
    Hope this helps

  • Automator: Apply Color Label and Copy to Folder

I'm trying my hand at Automator, and I need help with one of my workflows (⇪). Basically, it's a service (accessible via right-click) that will apply a color label on an image file, and then copy that image file to a corresponding folder with the same color label. My current version works fine, except for the fact that I had to create seven versions to accommodate all seven colors.
Is there any way to turn the color into a variable? I want the workflow to prompt me for a color, and then use that choice to run a search for the appropriate folder. I'd rather not hard code the color choice into separate services that all do the same thing.
Also, the service currently assumes that it will run fast enough before I can deselect the target file. I'm sure it's possible that the folder search could lag out while I select another file, and the service will ultimately copy the newly selected item, rather than the initial target. Is there a way to ensure the service acts on whatever was selected when it was first triggered?
I don't know AppleScript beyond copying-and-pasting other people's codes, so that limits my automation quite a bit. I don't know how to prompt for a label index choice and then feed the result into a find function. I also don't know how to record the file path of the selected item, and then feed that into the copy function at the end to ensure it doesn't copy the wrong file.

Typically a list of items is passed to a workflow, so you will usually (depending on what you are doing with the items) need to step through the items in that list. If there is only one destination folder with the target label, you can just search for it, otherwise you will need to specify the destination in some other way.
The following Service workflow example assumes that there is only one destination folder that has a given label color. It gets the label index of one of the input items and finds a folder with the same index at a specified base location (to limit the search range).
    1) Input items are automatically passed to an application or service, otherwise another action to get FInder Items can be used
    2) *Label Finder Items* (show the action when the workflow runs)
    3) *Run AppleScript* (paste the following script)

  • How do I protect File (read and copy only)

I have created a photo file that I want my kids to be able to see and copy( make an imovie or slideshow with)but not write onto. This way as I update the file with more pictures I can copy the new items over easily without creating copies of pictures. The file size is currently 250GB and to re-write the entire folder each time takes 8 hours and it might only take minutes if it only has to write the new pics. My hope is to be able to drag the file onto their drive and then for the system to ask if I want to replace or ignore existing files and just write the new ones. I want to be the only one that has the capability to do this. Help

If you control their Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Accounts to have parental controls, you can keep that file inside a read only folder that you create for them to access. That's true for nearly every version of Mac OS X.
If you are able to boot into Mac OS 9 on any of your machines, you will have to setup those accounts to boot via Apple -> Control Panels -> Users and Groups to have read only folders.
Secure your account with a password that no one can guess. Birthdays, names, foreign language words are not good passwords. A mixture of consonants, numbers, and symbols are best, and at a minimum 8 characters.

  • Alias and Copy?  Can TRASH be recovered? I lost my work.

What's the difference between alias and copy?
Also, can what you trash and delete in the trash, ever be recovered? ALL my projects are GONE! I think I deleted the original projects on my hard drive, BUT before I did that, I made a copy and put it on a external drive to free up some memory on my original hard drive, therefore, the projects should still be there. Any thoughts to either question? Thanks.

An Alias is a small file that points to an original somewhere else on your hard drives.
The icons you see in the Dock, for example, are not the actual applications but clicking on them will open the applications.
You might also make an alias for a file that you use often and place it on your desktop, instead of opening the Finder and going several folders deep to locate the original.
If an original file is deleted, the alias is useless.
