Component view only contains external application components

In the project there are two u201Eindependentu201C departments which need to communicate over PI 7.1, which is administered by a third department. There is no SLD in which the u201Cbusiness componentsu201D are registered and hence there are no u201CBusiness Systemsu201D which I could use in PI. At the same time PI doesnu2019t seem to allow having two business components communicate with each other in one integration scenario and returns the error message: u201CComponent view only contains external application componentsu201D. We only need message mapping.
Is there a recommendable solution for this problem without having to build a global SLD for the company?
Regards,
Tarik

Did you consider using Business Services? I am not sure if they changed the name in PI 7.1 but.. I am talking about having logical systems rather than systems created in SLD.
Also, Integration Scenario is not mandatory as long as you are ready to create the configuration objects manually..!!

• Missing Component View on Integration Scenario

Hi All,
I'm having a problem when doing the XI 3.0 Demo Examples.
The CheckFlightSeatAvailability scenario in my system doesn't have ABAP_Proxy_2_Web_Service component view.
The Config Guide said that this demo variant is available as of XI SPS 12, while my XI SPS is 14, so I supposed there's no problem.
But when I checked the Software Component Version SAP BASIS 6.40 in the Integration Repository, the Available Support Packages field's value is 9.
My questions are :
1. Does it means that I'm still using SPS 9 for configuring the scenario ? If that so, how can I update it to SPS 14 ?
2. If that's not the problem, what should I do so that the ABAP_Proxy_2_Web_Service appear in the CheckFlightSeatAvailability scenario ?
Kindly need your advices in this matter.
Regards,
Andy

Hi Andy,
you are on patch9 for basis component.
In patch stack guide it is described how to upgrade this component.
Import the appropriate content for the SAP XI Support Package release from the archive SAPBASIS<SP>_<PL>.ZIP (XI Content SAP_BASIS 6.40). Proceed as follows:
1. Unpack the archive using a ZIP tool of your choice.
2. Copy the export file (with file extension tpz) into the import directory <INSTDIR>/ <SAPSID>/SYS/global/xi/repository_server/import.
3. Start the Integration Builder for the design time.
4. Import the XI content by choosing Tools → Import design objects...
For more information, see SAP Note 705541.
This is always an important step, since the component not only contains scenario's but also Adapter MetaData.
So if this level is not on 14 (and the rest is) you will not be able to make use of SP14 Adapter features or even run into all kind of errors.
Regards,
Theo

On imac 10.6.8 using current version of Aperture. How can I access the Aperture Library on my external hard drive that I use with time machine for backup? I can only access the application but not the library..

Go into Time Machine (the program not the bundle on the extrnal disk) and using Time Machine's browser go to the Folder where the library lives. You could look in the library bundle in Time Machine but that won't really tell you much,
If you want to make sure it truely has backed up your library you will need to restore it and open the restored library with Aperture.
If all this still has you confused you need to read up on Time Machine in order to get a feel for how it works, for what it is doing and for how to restore files from it.

CS Bridge when opening file shows " Some Application Components are missing from Application Directory- Reinstall". Uninstalled with uninstaller, reinstalled from disc. Message continues only in Bridge not in PS. Please help.

What version of Bridge and Photoshop and what platform? Mac or Windows? I can point you to a downloadable installer.
If the cdrom was damaged, it may be the problem.
You would uninstall and use the CC/CS Cleaner to remove any remnants before reinstalling.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
I'll be gone for most of the day, but someone should be able to help you if you get stuck.

• How to display a view which contain interactive form in an external window

Anyone know how to display a view which contain interactive form in an external window?
I managed to display the view in an internal window with the following code:
IWDWindowInfo windowInfo = (IWDWindowInfo)wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("PdfReportWin");
IWDWindow window = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createWindow( windowInfo, true);
For external window, I tried this method : wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createExternalWindow(String URL, String title, boolean modal) but there are no parameter for view name?
Maybe this is not the correct way, really appreaciate if anyone can help.

Hi,
U need to the following
1.Create another window
2.Create a view in it tat contains Interacive form element.
3. call this window dynamically thru the first window by creating a context element of IWDWindow type
The code may help:
IWDWindowInfo windowInfo =(IWDWindowInfo) wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("SearchEmpwind");
IWDWindow window = wdThis.wdGetAPI().getComponent().getWindowManager().createWindow(windowInfo, true);
window.setWindowPosition(WDWindowPos.CENTER);
window.setWindowSize(400, 250);
window.open();
wdContext.currentContextElement().setEmpSearchWind(window);

• How can one develop "view only" client applications in Lookout?This is to develop remote monitoring without control functionality.

How can one develop "view only" client applications in Lookout?This is to develop remote monitoring without control functionality.
We have 10 Client Nodes in the field and we need two "View Only" functionality in Client machines located on Supervisory Desks.

I have done this. There are many ways to approach this but I will offer what I think is the easiest. This will work ONLY if you have been assigning security levels to your objects (objects that actually control devices in the field) greater than zero AND allowing a security level of zero to view all panels. When I develop interfaces I do this just for creating a non control client.
Basically, you remove all users from the Lookout client in the user manager. You will not be able to remove the built-ins, "Guest" and "Administrator". Now when the end users tries to login using his normal login he will be denied. Consequently, he will not be able to control. But, he will still be able to view all the information since a no login can view a panel with a viewing se
curity level of zero. You must ensure any pushbuttons that are used to open panels have a security level of zero.
Now you can copy this security profile by finding the lookout.sec file and copying it to another non-control client computer. In Windows NT this file is located in the system32 directory.
There are many other ways but I find this the easiest.

• What are the requried fields to be mentioned for external application login

Hi all,
I want to integrate a authenticated external application with my portal. My problem is that in the source code of the page, which contains login and paasword box, the action url is given as ../servlet/searchdirectory?Path=http://mybeat.techmahindra.com/ispace/home!section>cafetaria. When I give this URL in URL field for external application, it gives error as it is not a valid URL format. In fact, this site is redirecting the information for authentication. How can I get that URL????????
Another problem is that, when I am giving the URL as http://mybeat.techmahindra.com/service/page/UserLoginForm?
Path=http://mybeat.techmahindra.com/ispace/home!section>cafetaria after clicking apply button, it automatically removes the > sign and take it as http://mybeat.techmahindra.com/service/page/UserLoginForm?Path=http://mybeat.techmahindra.com/ispace/home!sectioncafetaria Is there any limitations for URL patterns which can be mentioned here????????

Hi Prasad,
note 1080927 contains the most up-to-date a list of required SCs for BPM. Ensure that you have imported the corresponding SCAs because the Studio checks the availability of certain required DCs that all BPM DCs must reference.
You can check which DCs are missing in the Component Properties view of the 7.11 NWDS: select the SC where you want to develop in Component Browser, switch to the "DC Types" tab in Component Properties and open the node for the DC type in question. DCs marked in red are missing.

• Testing Application Components

I'm not sure if you are aware, but it is currently very difficult to test spark Application components using FlexUnit and the UIImpersonator. An application component can't simply be added to UIImpersonator with addChild; there is already an existing Application for the test environment. What you have to do instead is create and add a SWFLoader and then use that to load an instance of the Application to test. The workaround is not very difficult, but having a mention of this issue in the documentation somewhere would have been helpful. Better yet perhaps add a function to UIImpersonator that takes care of the extra steps involved in testing an Application. What do you think?

Yes, it is completely usable.
How it works is that FlexUnit tries to see if there is a mx.core.Container linked into your project. If there is, it uses that as the basis for the UIImpersonator. If there isn't one, then it uses spark.components.Group.
It does this because it is possible to compile in Flex 4.x with or without the MX components.
If your project has both, MX and Spark, then you can continue to use addChild() and you should be able to add either spark or mx components to the display list with 4.1. If your project is spark only then you need to use addElement(). We are just trying to make this cleaner for future releases but it does work now.
As far as the loader, etc. I certainly understand why you are doing that and if it works then by all means its a good solution. FlexUnit was never intended though to be able to test full applications, so things like applicationComplete were never on our radar. So, for now, you will need to continue your work around to have that functionality or, you could always manually dispatch it (myApp.dispatchEvent( new Event("applicationComplete") ) ) at the appropriate time.
HTH,
Mike

• Standard Costing : CK11N (Inconsistent Cost Component Views)

Hi,
I have created the cost sheet with below information:
A) Material
B) + Labour
C) +Indirect Labour (% of Labour)
D) + Utilities
E) + Production overhead (% of Material)
F) Cost of Goods Manufactured (Total of A to E)
G) Admin overhead (% of COGM)
H) Sales overhead (% of COGM)
I) Cost of Goods Sold (F to H)
Also Cost component structure is maintained accordingly with the cost elements applicable to above mentioned components.
When I run the cost estimate for the FG/SFG, cost is calculated in the expected way consindering all the components mentione above and displayed in "Itemisation" View.
But the problem has been in the Cost component view of costing run.
I have activated only three views i.e. Cost of Goods Manufactured , Cost of Goods Sold and Sales and Admininstration Cost.
1. Costs are not appearing under the respective components correctly.
2. Sales and administration cost component is displaying Material cost instead of the overhead
3. Utilities is having very high cost (not the sum of costs appearing in itemisation)
4. Component Material is totally disappeared and not visible.
I request experts to comment on this disparity and suggest the steps that need to be taken for getting the right cost compnent views.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Check cost elements assigned to structure. For this go to transaction code OKTZ and select your CCS and double click on Assignment Cost Component-Cost element interval.

• Set location of component in a container

I'm looking for a way to exactly specify the location for a component in a container.
For example let's say i have some JPanel and i want to add a JButton to it at coordinates x=100, y=50.
Is this even possible?
All the lay out managers seem to prevent this because they auto-arrange the components in the container.

You can try to use something like this:
import java.awt.Container;
import java.awt.Insets;
import java.awt.Dimension;
import javax.swing.JButton;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
public class AbsoluteLayoutDemo {
public static void addComponentsToPane(Container pane) {
pane.setLayout(null);
JButton b1 = new JButton("one");
JButton b2 = new JButton("two");
JButton b3 = new JButton("three");
pane.add(b1);
pane.add(b2);
pane.add(b3);
Insets insets = pane.getInsets();
Dimension size = b1.getPreferredSize();
b1.setBounds(25 + insets.left, 5 + insets.top,
size.width, size.height);
size = b2.getPreferredSize();
b2.setBounds(55 + insets.left, 40 + insets.top,
size.width, size.height);
size = b3.getPreferredSize();
b3.setBounds(150 + insets.left, 15 + insets.top,
size.width + 50, size.height + 20);
* Create the GUI and show it. For thread safety,
* this method should be invoked from the
* event-dispatching thread.
private static void createAndShowGUI() {
//Create and set up the window.
JFrame frame = new JFrame("AbsoluteLayoutDemo");
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
//Set up the content pane.
addComponentsToPane(frame.getContentPane());
//Size and display the window.
Insets insets = frame.getInsets();
frame.setSize(300 + insets.left + insets.right,
125 + insets.top + insets.bottom);
frame.setVisible(true);
public static void main(String[] args) {
//Schedule a job for the event-dispatching thread:
//creating and showing this application's GUI.
javax.swing.SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
createAndShowGUI();
}pane.setLayout(null) will give you what you want.

• Application Components not visible in SAP R/3 tree

Dear All,
We have standalone system and we have installed ECC 6.0 with BI Content. Harddisk is 320 GB with 2 GB RAM. We want to extract the data from R/3 to BW which are on the same system (As ECC 6.0 contains builtin BW).
In RSA1 the application components are not visible in the SAP R/3 tree under datasource tab. When I am replicating the entire SAP data source it is giving shortdump(STORAGE_PARAMETERS_WRONG_SET).
How can I replicate a particular data source to avoid the memory problems because I have only 2 GB RAM.

You can also Replicate a single datasource w/o replicating the App Comp using a FM.
BW
SE37
RSAOS_METADATA_UPLOAD
Execute
Give Source System n Datasource - Execute
*Give Datasource Name - for I_O... & Source System for Logsys.

• Not able to see all the application components in BI

Hello Friends,
Basically, we should be able to see all the application components(when you select 'datasources' under 'modeling' in RSA1) in bi which contain different datasources in them, example:
App components
+Financial Accounting
+Controlling
+Sales & Distri
i am not able to view any of the above App components in BI.
Could you pls help me out ...
Thanks,
Srini

Hi,
These data sources not activated in the source system in SAP and you need to go to t-code RSA5 and activate them manually after selecting them.
I think its "Activate data source" option.
Create a TR for this if asked.
once activate you need to replaicate them in BW and then you can see if they are coming or not.
Also it is possible that you are looking at the wrong source system.
in the data source option in RSA1 look for SAP option and the right client and then see if these data sources are appearing or not.
Thanks

• How to call external application (transaction launcher) from event method

Hi all
Can somebody tell me which program lines to put into an event handler method in a view controller to get an external application called. I intend to define the link to the external application in the Transaction Launcher. But I cannot find any instructions on how to call the Transaction Launcher from my event handler method. I do not want to launch the application from the navigation bar, ONLY via a link in a list of invoices in a table view, and I want to press the invoice number to get an external application called to display the invoice. My event handler method gets called fine enough, but I have no clue which program lines to put into the method to pass on the call to the Transaction Launcher

hi,
check class CL_CRM_UI_LTX_NAVBAR_PARAM.
call method : CREATE_PARAMETER_OBJECT with parameters
IV_LINK_ID Importing Type CRMT_UI_LOGICAL_LINK_ID Logical Link ID
IV_PARAMETER Importing Type CRMT_UI_LINK_PARAMETER Link Parameter
RV_RESULT Returning Type Ref To IF_BOL_BO_PROPERTY_ACCESS BO Attribute
I think it should work but have never done myself.

• Calling main controller method from component view

Hi,
Because i want to re-use certain views, i've created components of em so i can re-use them in several places within the same view. The problem is that i have 1 main component which has several methods calling webservices. I want the other components to be able to call the methods of the maincomponent. I tried adding the main component to the Used Web Dynpro Components of another component. Then i added the main component in the properties of the view but then it says: Cycle in component usage definitions.
I can understand this because the main view creates instances of all other components, so the sub components cannot create the maincomponent again...but how do i then give a reference of the maincomponents controller to the sub components?
Much thanks,
Hugo Hendriks

Hi Siarhei,
The problem of creating a Java class is that there i dont have access to certain classes for example when there is something with a webservice, i want to send a message back like
IWDMessageManager msgMgr = wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager();
msgMgr.reportSuccess(message);
In a seperate java class, i dont have access to the wdComponentAPI! The only thing i want is kinda like a ServiceLocator to call different webservices. I do check roles of the user logged in the portal and stuff like that....How do you normally implement something like this? I have several views which have to make use of the locator....
I hope i dont need to create a seperate DC when i want to re-use a screen and want to call a service method of another class or so.........Sounds like much overkill for a screen with 2 inputfields and a button!
Anoop, i tried adding the mainController to the searchComponent by adding it to Used WebDynpro Components and then I added the mainController in the properties of the searchView so i can make use of it. In the searchcode i now can use the maincontroller but i still get the compiling message: Cycle in component usage definition!
best regards,
Hugo
