Compound char and transaction data
Hi experts
We have a new characteristic ZCONTRACT.
A few master data datasources delivers this new object with attributes.
ZCONTRACT consists of time dependent attributes and additionaly this field ZOBJ_NO (object number).
ZOBJ_NO is compounded to ZCONTRACT, reason:
ZCONTRACT
ZOBJ_NO
DATETO
DATEFROM
ZOBJ_TY
ZDISCONT
80245202
7000000458
31.12.9999
01.01.1000
1
80245202
7000000460
31.12.9999
01.01.1000
6
80245202
31.12.9999
01.01.2014
2
Characteristic ZDISCONT is time-dependent and has no relation to compounded field ZOBJ_NO.
ZOBJ_TY (object type) is delivered with ZCONTRACT and ZOBJ_NO from one datasource; at this place the valid dates are set constant.
ZOBJ_NO and ZOBJ_TY are non-transactional data relevant, meaning that there is no split or logic in the transactional data including these fields.
The business requirement is to report over ZOBJ_TY.
The idea was to use ZOBJ_TY as active navigational attribute in the infocube.
While assigning ZCONTRACT to the infocube, the compounded field ZOBJ_NO automatically is assigned to the cube.
Now, as there is no logic for this field ZOBJ_NO (and also ZOBJ_TY) in the transactional data, I recognized that it is not possible to solve it through this way.
Do you agree? Are there any other ways to realize this requirement?
Thanks
Hi Thomas,
ok, it get's a bit more complicated.
As I understood 0CML_CASHFLOW only returns ZCONTRACT, but not compounded to ZOBJ_NO. ZDISCONT is part of 0CML_CASHFLOW.
IF you follow the approach above, you have to duplicate your data from 0CML_CASHFLOW to new DSO.
Example:
ZONTRACT ZOBJ_NO 0DATETO ZOBJ_TY
1 1 1.1.2013 1
1 1 1.1.2014 2
2 1 1.1.2013 1
2 2 1.1.2014 3
As you said is ZDISCONT time-dpendent.
So data in 0CML_CASHFLOW looks like that
ZCONTRACT 0DATETO ZDISCONT
1 1.7.2013 1
1 1.3.2014 2
2 1.3.2012 1
2 1.4.2013 2
2 1.5.2014 3
Now you have to find for each contract the correct validity period from master data and create correpsonding records:
Goal is following records in New DSO, if I understood correctly:
ZCONTRACT ZOBJ_NO 0DATETO ZOBJ_TY ZDISCONT
1 1 1.1.2013 1 1
1 1 1.1.2014 2 2
2 1 1.1.2013 1 2
2 2 1.1.2014 3 3
For this you need a lookup in the endroutine in transformation from 0CML_CASHFLOW to new DSO which finds for each ZCONTRACT the corresponding ZCONTRACT master data entry and creates the ZDISCONT value in New DSO.

Jürgen

Compound attribute and transactional attribute
hi experts,
what is compound attribute and transactional attribute, in what case we will use this attributes, can anybody explain with business scenario, pl help to understand this.
thanks & regards
venkatCoumpounding attributes is an attribute which is compounded with another infoobject. This brings unique data relationship. Suppose u have company codes like CC1, CC2, CC3 and you have employees E1, E2, E3...The employees codes will be same in each company code. To make them unique across we compound the employeee code with company code. The it will result as below.
CC1 - E1, E2, E3
CC2 - E1, E2, E3
CC3 - E1, E2, E3
Again the other one must be a transitive attribute and not transactional attribute. When an navigational acts as another attribute as navigational attribute then the other is called transitive attribute. -
Diff B/W master data and transaction data
Hi all,
What is the main Diff B/W master data and transaction data. give me some example ?
Thanks in Advance
Krish...hi krish,
MASTER Data is the data that exists in the organization like employee details, material master, customer master, vendor master etc. These are generally created once.
Master data are distributed throughout the company, they are often not standardised and often redundant. As a result it is very costly to offer efficient customer service, keep track of supply chains and make strategic decisions. With SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) these important business data from across the company can be brought together, harmonised and made accessible to all staff and business partners. As a key component of SAP NetWeaver, SAP MDM ensures data integrity via all IT systems.
Regardless of the industry, companies often work with different ERP and Legacy systems. The result: the business processes are based on information about customers, partners and products which is displayed in different ways in the systems. If the data are recorded manually, there are more inconsistencies: some data sets are entered several times, others cannot be retrieved by all divisions of the company.
As corporate applications are becoming increasingly complex and produce ever greater amounts of data, the problem is intensified further. Nevertheless, your employees must work with the inconsistent data and make decisions on this basis. The lack of standardised master data easily leads to wrong decisions, which restrict efficiency and threaten customer satisfaction and profitability.
In a word: in order to save costs and ensure your companys success it is necessary to consolidate master data about customers, partners and products, make them available to all employees beyond system boundaries and use attributes valid company-wide for the purpose of description.
TRASNACTION Data - These are the business documents that you create using the master data - Purchase orders, sales orders etc

In CRM, Exchange Interface (XIF) ALE/IDOC is available to transfer master and transaction data. You can go through the following link for set up.
Basic Data exchange set up for ALE IDocs - Wiki - SCN Wiki
You can extend the standard XIF IDOCs using Transaction BDFg as well.

Master Data and Transaction Data For DB Connect extracted Data...
Dear Experts,
I have been working on SAP NetWeaver BW 7.3 and for the first time I have extracted data from Oracle DBMS by using DB Connect. I have successfully extracted data of a View namely Sales_View into BW by creating a DataSource. This View has about 100 fields and I have been told that this view consists of Master Data and Transaction Data too. For my further reporting needs say building a Dashboard or InfoSpace I have to design a DSO and InfoCube for this DataSource. I'm bit confused about the Master Data and Transaction Data of this DataSource.
1. Should I create all custom InfoObject against all fields of DataSource for DSO and InfoCube design?
2. Do I need to create and load the Master Data for all InfoObjects or I need to create or load the Master Data for only those InfoOjects which will be
used for drill down or reporting in Dashboard or InfoSpace?
3. Do I need to load the Master Data manually by creating Flat Files and using these files for Master Data loading for required objects?
4. How should I approach the designing of DSO and InfoCube?
I will appreciate your inputs in this matter.
Many thanks!
Tariq AshrafThanks!

What I can do? Who can me say why I havent the Programm UPB_DATA_IMPORT?
What is wrong?
Please help me.I need Data to make a demo planning
thanksHi,
There is a set of objects in business content (check under SAP DEMO in business content). You can activate some or all of these demo objects (for example demo cubes).
There are programs which you can then execute to create the datafiles which can then be loaded to these demo cubes.
" Start report RSO_BC_FILES_IN_BDS (Transaction SE 38), specify the required (Demo) InfoObject/InfoCube and choose the "Start BDN" button. The system will display all (generally one) CSV files which were supplied with the InfoObject/InfoCube. You can either export this CSV file into a local directory or you can write it directly onto the application server. For loading, proceed as described under section 1. " --- from OSS note 370397 -
Relation between master and transaction data
Hi experts,
I have a basic question how the relation between masterdata and transction data is maintained in R/3. As I know first we extract master data and later transaction data in a typical R/3 based scenario.
1.How does BW knows that , the transaction data are related masterdata in the same sense as in R/3 ?
I am involved in an enhancement of R/3 extractor. I need to derive 3 more fields and map it to info objects in BW. Cld any one explain me ( with an example plz) how these alignments to be made. How can I establish relation b/w derived fields and transaction data during extractions ?
regs
D BretHi Dave.
Let's see if I can get all of your questions answered. First, when Transactional Data is loaded, BW checks to see if a SID exists for each characterisatic field & value in the load. If one doesn't, it either creates a SID (Surregate ID) in the master data tables (default action) or the load fails (if the enforece referential intgegrity flag is set). It's better to load master data first in either case as it will improve the performance of the transactional load.
In terms of R/3, the data has similar relationships as in BW. There are master data tables and transactional data tables. The difference is that while R/3 uses ~1 master data table per field, BW uses more. Same thing for transactional data.
As for your enhancement, if everything you need for the derivation of the extra field is in R/3, then you can enhance the extractor in RSA6 and do the mapping in R/3. Once you replicate the DataSource to BW and reconnect the transformation & update rules, the load should work. If you can give a bit more information on what sort of enhancement you are attempting, I can give a better example.
Cheers,

Transfering Master and Transaction data to active and non active versions
Hi Gurus,
I am planning to transfer ECC master and transaction data to APO active and simulation versions. My question is
1. Is it possible to release Master and transaction data to active and non active versions ?
2. How i need to config if i want to release Master and Transaction data in version 001?
Please let me know .
Thanks in Advance
Regards,
RajHi Raj,
1) Once you create active integration models for master data and
transactional data, the data will get updated in active version 000
2) For creation of non active version use transaction
/SAPAPO/MVM
3) For copying of data from active to non active version, use
transaction /SAPAPO/VERCOP

Master data tables and Transaction data Tables
Hello Gurus,
Please let me know how to know which table belongs to master data and which table belongs to transaction data.
for FICO module.
Does any one have specific material relating to master data table and transaction data tables.
Thanks

We use the 0HR_PA_OS_1 as an extractor for both masterdata and transaction data. To reduce the loadingtime I would like to know if we can populate both the info.object and the Info cube from the same load. Technical it should be no problem, but the infoobject 0HRPOSITION is masterdata in the Info cube using the same extractor, and masterdata should alsways be loaded before transaction data.
Any advice?
TomWe have daily load process chains to load HR data. And we have following sequence
Attribute Data Load -> Text Data Load -> Attribute change Run -> Transaction Data Load.
0HR_PA_OS_1 (for 0HRPOSITION) gets loaded in attribute load local PC, and in Transaction Data Load PC we have DTP that loads from PSA to cube 0PAOS_C01.
Yes, masterdata should always be loaded before transaction data, this is because of SIDs generation and also if u r using 'Read master Data' in any of transactional transformation mapping, then this 'Read master Data' should happen after master data (0HRPOSITION) is active (after Attribute change Run). -
Difference between master data and transactional data
Hi experts i have just started learning BW can u plz let me know the difference between Master data and Transactional data in bw ? and why is master data is first loaded before the transactional data ? thanks .....
Hi
Transaction data represents any transaction occured between two parties like Customer and Vendor.
We maintain id's to maintain the Customer and Vendor.
When we look at the id we don't have a clue like who is the customer, where does he live,,....
So all this info is maintained in Master data in three categories:
1. Attributes
2. Text
3. Hierarchies.
Collection of Attribute, Texts and Hierarchies is called master Data in BI/BW.
Eg: 0MATERIAL, 0CUSTOMER,,,,,
Master data: is data that remains unchanged over a long period of time. Master data contains information that is always needed in the same way. Characteristics can bear master data in BW. With master data you are dealing with attributes, texts or hierarchies.

Master Data is one form of the historical data. There is no frequent changes in the data.Every application has it's own Master Data.
In BI the master Data has been divided into
Characterstics
Texts
Hierarchies
We can load Master Data through different ways.
