computer cannot enter BIOS but switches on and screen remains blank.
The power and wifi indicator shows.
Tried removing CMOS battery with no change
Tried removing battery, pressing on button for 40 minutes then starting again still no change

Hi farai, welcome to the HP Forums. If your computer appears to be powering on, but you cannot see the screen it may be a recoverable situation.
This document will help you diagnose the issue, it looks like you have already done Step 1 (hard reset):
Computer Starts but Screen Remains Blank (Windows 8)
If you get to Step 3, the options listed won't work since you indicated you cannot get into your BIOS. In place of Step 3 in that document, you can try to restore your BIOS using this method: Restoring the BIOS
If you get to the end, it says to call HP. If so, it is most likely a hardware issue and you should call support for more options: HP Technical Support, North America 1-800-474-6836. For all other regions click here.

Screen blank after Windows login

When I start my computer (Win 7 32 bit on a ThinkPad T60P), I am taken to the login screen and after logging in, my screen goes black. I can still see/move my cursor but the screen is black!
I can start in Safe Mode and Windows loads fine. I've tried updating my graphics driver from the Lenovo site (last update was 2008, so that shouldn't be the issue) - I also attempted to use a previous restore point, although the only point was 24 hrs prior which didn't rectify issue.
I can use Ctrl-Alt-Del and go go task manager, etc - I've tried ending explorer.exe and reloading ... still nothing, still black with my mouse cursor.
Any recommendations, please??

I've never had to use SFC, personally, so my knowledge is limited to what I've read of it, but it looks like it can be run in "verify-only" mode. Might be best to try that first to see if it reports anything. Then, you could consider taking a backup before letting the utility modify/fix anything.

Ipad2 screen blank after ios 8 upgrade

Screen blank, used the home and off button, still not working, a faint light comes on and nothing else
- forced to reset factory settings, all data lost, a very upset daughter! all minecraft worlds created now gone!
seems to be acknowledged by itunes but just get screen on ipad to work any ideas?

Here's the list of the most annoying issues that affect me since updating my iPad 2 64GB w/Cellular iPad to IOS 8:
EXTREMELY SLOW - When opening apps, or switching between them - We are talking just the built-in apps. Mail, Safari, Settings....
Extremely slow Wi-Fi AND broadband. The Wi-Fi is the worst though. Horrible. Page load times are 2 to 4x slower than my wife's iPad.
Battery life reduced by at least 25%. Used to make it all day long, now I am having to plug it in.
Heat - It is working so hard that the processor is heating up. That can't be healthy for it, and surely the majority of the power issues stem from this.
Copy/Paste not functioning correctly between browser windows. Oh this is frustrating. I just want to paste the URL of one website I am on to Facebook, for instance. Even though I COPY, it's pasting in info I clipped a earlier in the day to one browser tab, but if I open another one, it will paste the correct information. You never know what you are going to get.
Cannot post a photo to facebook by hitting the camera icon when leaving a reply or making a post (using web browser version)... It starts the upload, then just stops. I *CAN* go to photos, then SHARE it to facebook, but that doesn't allow me to post a photo along with a reply.
Multiple app crashes per day. This I can deal with. It's nothing new, it's just more frequent. Safari and Mail seem to be the major culprits. It wouldn't be so bad except it takes 2-4 seconds to reopen the crashed app. Sometimes as much as 10 seconds.
And that's just the annoying ones....

ACPI Flash BIOS version 2.60 Update Problem cause Blank Screen on Qosmio X505-Q870 HELP Needed!

I have a Qosmio X505-Q870 that I bought 3 months ago. I updated to ACPI Flash BIOS version 2.60 today, as suggested by the Toshiba installation tools. I ran the update in Windows 7( didn't know this is dangerous) and it successfully completed, before it shuts down normally. When I try ti turn it on, the power LED is on, but the screen is blank. I tried to turn it off by pressing the power button for 20 seconds, but the computer would not turn off. What should I do now?

13" MBA screen blank after waking from sleep

I got a MBA very recently and noticed that if I shut the top and soon reopen it, the screen is totally blank except for the cursor. Clicking and pressing keyboard buttons doesn't help bring me to the login screen. Eventually the screen goes black and then goes to login if I click or press a button. I already took it to the store and after close to 4 hours (they were extremely behind....5th ave store from 1230 -4 am!!) and resetting the laptop I was told to call apple care. I called and after a while he told me I have to send it in for repair. Does any one else experience this blank screen with a cursor after waking?
Ps some want to blame chrome. My feeling was that if there's no known issue with chrome currently, there's no reason I should refrain from using it.

This happens every so often to my 12" Aluminium PowerBook after sleeping (black screen, hard drive spinning away) and after trying every possible key combination and nothing helping, I'm usually left with the usual last resort, which is a hard restart. Of course that remedies the problem short term but unfortunately, only until the next time it happens. For me, it has been an issue since I bought it and is not affected by the OS.
I am wondering if it has anything to do with the clasp not working properly when the lid is closed. Sometimes I get the sleeping light, sometimes not - unless I play with the lid until it clicks shut. Then the light appears. Importantly, when the sleeping light appears, the machine always wakes properly with the lid opening. But I have noticed that when the light does not come on and I haven't bothered to shut it down properly, that is when the problem occurs. Which makes me wonder if rather than going into sleep mode it is actually going into hibernation mode due to non use? I haven't a clue but perhaps someone here knows far more about such things than myself?

Screen blank after apple logo

i have an iphone 4s. updated my phone to the new ios 7.0.4 and after the apple logo the screen goes black and is unresponsive. when i switch the vibrate button the phone vibrates. when i first turn it on the apple logo comes on the screen so i dont think its the LCD although i could be wrong. does anyone have any advice?

it's definitely not the battery problem. i charged my ipod overnight and the battery indicator is full when i access the disk mode only. it's just the blank screen after the apple logo when i reset my ipod no many times is what bothers me. do you think it's time to throw my ipod away?

MacBook Pro Shuts off (or at least screen blank) after about 30 seconds

I have a MacBook Pro. (don't know what model, OS is 10.9.5). Starting today, it will not stay on. The power light (white light at slit on front right) is not on any longer. The battery has a full charge (100%). I can turn the laptop on with the power button, it stays on for about 30-60 seconds. I can log on, work on applications, but within 30-60 seconds the screen is blank again. The tiny white line light (next to longer slit) goes on while restarting.I can shut down and restart all day long, but it won't stay on.
Again, the bigger slit in the front is ALWAYS dark now (I believe it should always be white if laptop is on and awake, etc.
I would be grateful for any ideas how to address. Thank you.

Well this is the big gamble. You really don't know for sure.
TimeMachine has gotten corrupted from a failing original drive and then unable to restore properly to a new drive.
It's not like you can access the files on a TM drive directly and cherry pick what you need and leave the rest. It's all or nothing.
If you go erasing your only other copy on the boot drive, which the files still could be accessed from another boot drive, and if you find out the TimeMachine drive can't restore, then your up the creek without a paddle right?
So if your able, create a data recovery drive and try to rescue your second copy of the files on the boot drive or restore the TM drive to the second boot drive , so this way your files can be accessed directly if you need it and you have two copies again.
Once you can direclty access your files then you can go about erasing and installing on the internal boot drive.

Remove the Battery for a couple of minutes, insert and see if the phone starts fine. Else, you may need to use the Nokia Software Recovery Tool to fresh install the OS at the expense of losing all your data ..

Satellite L350 - Screen blank after switching on

Only bought this at the weekend, got it all set up and everything was working fine. Switched everything off and then came back couple of hours later powered-on and now cannot get anything on the screen at all, totally black.
I've tried the FN+F5 and this does nothing. Any thoughts?

Can you see a picture on external monitor? Maybe the FL inverter of your internal screen is faulty and must be replaced
If you cant see a picture on external monitor too it seems to be a hardware malfunction. You should go to an authorized service provider and ask for help. The technicians can check the notebook for you.

HP DM4t-2100 Screen Blank After Reassembly

I opened my laptop to fix the hinges. When I reassembled it, the screen remained blank. I've tried taking the whole thing apart again and removing the screen completely and plugging it back in, including the gold input that is behind the screen to no avail. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I updated from ios 5.0.1 to 5.1. Midway through the update itunes crashed. I got it all working again and ever since I have been stuck in a recovery loop. DFU mode works fine, but when I go into recovery mode (yes I am doing it right, yes I have tried pwning, tinyumbrella, etc.) it still just gives me a white screen (I am not getting the plug arrow and itunes icon screen that shows up when you are in recovery mode). I am a huge fan of hacking, mods, and jbs, BUT have never done any on the iPad, (found it pointless).. nevertheless, I am stuck thanks to apple in a white screen and a nonworking iPad. If anyone has any ideas that does not include jbs, updating, restoring, restoring with internet off, restoring in DFU, I would gladly appreciate it. I would take it to the apple store but it was a friends and I didn't purchase it. My friend had the issue formerly and they had no idea what to do at apple (they usually try DFU, restore, and then have nothing else to tell you.

Screen blanking after upgrading to OSX10.9.2

After upgrading to OSX10.9.2 the monitor will randomlly go black. This never happend prior to upgrading to OSX10.9.2. Is there a permanant fix or a way I can go back to the previous version OF OSX?

Recover the backup you made before installing 10.9.2.
If you didn't backup, you should have.

Notebook won't start after BIOS upgrade

Notebook: HP Pavilion dv6-7003
OS: Windows 7 32-bit
An HP update thing just came up telling me to update, so I did, after they were all downloaded/installed I restarted and then it went to a special BIOS screen telling me what to do (not to turn off power, etc. even after screen goes black). So I just left it, and next time I looked (like half an hour later) the screen was still black with just the caps lock key flashing. No matter how many times I try to restart still nothing happens.
I tried to do the thing that told me to hold down the windows key + B and then the power key but that didn't work.
Help please? =[

Cannot adjust screen brightness after BIOS update

I was able to adjust my laptop screen brightness but after the BIOS update:

Notebook does not start after BIOS Update crash

Hi all,
I just want to ask whether is a chance to reactivate my Satellite A300 after a BISO update crash without send it to the Toshiba service.
I downloaded the new BISO and started it from the Windows menu. After a few seconds my PC crashed and everything was frozen.
I switched off the PC.
Now when I press the power button to start the Notebook the monitor is black and I can hear a sound brrr, brrr, brrr from the CD-Rom drive.
Do you think it is possible to boot from a CD or something like that. Is it possible to reactivate my notebook?
Your help would be really appreciated!

Sorry but if the BIOS chip is damaged there is no much you can do about it. You must contact authorized Toshiba service provider.
