Computer is slow when plugged in

Hello,
I have this strange issue with my computer. When I connect my Power Adapter to computer, the computer will be very slow. If I remove the Power Adapter, everything runs normal. This was not the case earlier, and it just worked fine. I started facing this
issue recently.
System Model HP ProBook 4530s
System Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard
System Type X86-based PC (This is a 64-bit computer and I have installed 32-bit OS)
OS Name Microsoft Windows 8 Pro
Version 6.2.9200 Build 9200
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
BIOS Mode Legacy
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB
Please let me know if Anyone has any clues on this.

If you remove the battery and just run on AC, does it work normally? I found
this thread on the HP forums where the battery was causing slowness when plugged in, and one person found that the AC adapter was causing the issue.
Hope this helps,
David

  • 30 gig iPod not found in My Computer or iTunes when plugged in

I just got this iPod the other day for a birthday present from my father. I immediately put some music and video on it and all was fine. I've had it plugged in a few times and it worked perfectly fine again. Last night I tried to plug it in again to put stuff on it and all that happened was the beep you get to let you know that something has been put in the USB. It is not shown in My Computer or iTunes, and there is no USB error balloon popping up. My iPod screen still says do not disconnect when plugged in and it still plays normally when unplugged. I do not know what to do to remedy this problem and I have tried many things and looked up and down the support section of the site, but to no avail.
    Emachines   Windows XP

Have you tried assigning your iPod a different drive letter? See these instructions below:
Log off of any other users on your computer (and disconnect any iPods that are currently connected to your computer, as well)
Then, put your iPod into Disk Mode, then follow these steps:
1 - Don’t plug in your iPod yet.
2 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
3 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
4 - Now, with "Computer Management" and Control Panel windows opened, reset your iPod, and connect it.
5 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).
For more details, see this article:
Windows confuses iPod drive letter / Changing drive letter
If your iPod isn't recognize to assign it a different letter, or the above steps still don't work, then try disconnecting all other USB devices from your computer (other than your mouse and keyboard), and see if you can re-assign your iPod's drive letter works.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Lag/computer is slow when sharing the screen durin...

Hi everyone. I have a question. (New here on the forum so hope I'm doing this correctly)
Me and my friend often have a Skype Call where one shares the screen. (One plays a game while the other one watches.) However, whenever I share the screen, there is this immense lag for me, making it pretty hard to do anything while screen sharing. Even when I simply browse the internet with nothing else but the screen sharing open makes my computer really slow. My computer is fast without screen sharing.
The funny thing is that everything else in Skype works just fine. When I simply chat or when I'm calling someone without the screen sharing, my computer just works great and fast. And whenever my friend is the one sharing the screen with me, she is experiencing no lag at all. It's just when I share my screen there's lots of lag.
So I was wondering what the problem here could be. The connection between us seems good enough. After all, regular calls are just fine. Does anyone know what the problem could be and how to fix it? Thanks a lot.

@AutoRepairMedia, Can you please reproduce the issue and provide logs as described in this link https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12321/how-do-i-create-log-files under Skype for Windows Desktop and attach it to your post?
Can you also try to share only a smaller window since if you are sending a high resolution contect, it is quite cpu heavy to encode such a video.
    Thank you

  • Computer displays error when plugged in

    hey,
ive plugged my ipod many a times in into my pakard bell windows xp computer without trouble, recently when i do, it doesnt show up on itunes & a message pops up on the desktop saying "windows does not recognise this device..." followed the 5rss tips, and it also says the same for my friends ipod,
i have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it and it doesnt seem to work...
    what do i do?

First, read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136 Even if no new driver is available for your PB, reload your USB driver as described in the article.
After this see if your iPod is recognized in Device Manager or My Computer. If it is, right click on it and change the drive letter to something higher, like M or P. After this reformat your iPod (FAT32, don't do a quick format), then Restore your iPod in iTunes.
Be sure when you do this to use a rear USB port on your computer and disconnect all other USB devices except your keyboard and mouse.

  • Yoga 2 Pro - extremely slow when plugged to an external monitor with Windows 10

Hi! Like most of you, I was eager to take the step early and try Windows 10 (knowing the risk of running into some problems on the way). Everything works very smoothly, and Win10 is really delightful. The only major problem I've faced is that when I plug an external monitor, every action (launching Firefox for example) takes ages and many apps "doesn't respond". I've downloaded and installed all the drivers for Win10 (included the one for the graphic card). Any idea what is happening or what I could try? Best,François

Hi. I am suffering the exact same thing. But i think i narrowed down the issue:When i am not using an external monitor - everything works nicely. When I am using an external monitor (and laptop set to "Extend" mode) while laptop screen is open - everything works nicely. When i am using an external monitor (and laptop set to "Extend" mode) while laptop screen is closed - everything becomes extremely slow and laggy.  I wish Lenovo support would provide a solution asap.

  • Computer runs slow when Mac Mail open

Mail works ok, albeit very slow, but the computer runs painfully slow.  Spinning beach ball trying to perform the most mundane tasks, like clicking between pages in Safari.  Once I right click on Mail and close it, the computer runs just fine.

Also, with Activity Monitor open but Mail quit, select CPU down at the bottom, see what the % Idle is. Then open Mail and see what it says.
You should run the Combo Update to 10.5.8. This might help.

@Eric: I'm not ruling it out 100% as a fix for this problem, but Permissions Repair is not the panacea or valuable troubleshooting step you seem to think it is. It may have been more useful in pre-Leopard OSs like Tiger.

  • Computer running slow when iTunes is converting

It hasn't always happened, but just recently when I convert a CD into iTunes my computer stutters, i.e. the mouse pointer skips, songs skip eratically if they're playing and the CPU usage goes through the roof. What's wrong, and what can I do?

I know it isnt the answer you want, but there is nothing 'wrong'. You are very likely to see this on 'modest' powered computers. Ripping and converting an entire CD is a computing intensive process, and unless you have a very high powered high end machine, you will probably see symptoms of the machine working it's tail off to complete the job as you described.
I'd first reccomend closing any programs you arent actually using (like the 10 thousand things most people usually have running down there where the clock is). This will free up some processing power to help the conversion go faster, and to leave a litle extra for what ever else it is you are working on.
If you are up for it, you might want to do some research into ways you want to upgrade the computer. I hate to reccoment this to anyone, but you will be suprised at the boost you can get out of something like putting in some memory. The obvious tradeoff there is that they dont usually give away memory for free.
Or plan a CD rip for a better time. Drop in the disk when you are going to be away from the computer for a while, or going to bed, and when you get up, it will be done.

  • XP computer painfully slow when latest Firefox is installed

I have a win vista computer which has worked for years and run Firefox fine, Two weeks ago I upgraded firefox as usual and Firefox became painfully slow. A nerdy friend tried reloading the latest Firefox and concluded Firefox was much slower than Explorer or than Opera. My wife is very unhappy. What do I do now?

Well you could start with giving us the troubleshooting information from the Firefox installation that's having problems<br>
*Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the ''Help'' menu and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the submenu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the menu.
Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
*At the top of the page, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
*Now, go back to your forum post and click inside the reply box. Press Ctrl+V to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.

  • My computer turning off when plugging in my iphone??? Why..

Can anybody help me out here? My iphone completely turns off my computer does anybody have that problem and if so how do you fix it?
    R/S
    Luis

    Marine78,
Have you added any card to your computer, or replaced any hardware? What power supply do you have?
A PC may shut down when something draws additional power if either the USB port is not connected correctly, or if the power supply is already overloaded and trips its own circuit breaker.
If it is restarting, and not powering completely off, do you happen to have a Logitech Webcam installed or previously installed? If so go to Logitech's website and download the latest version of their software. Many Windows XP or Vista computers will automatically restart if they get a blue screen. You could be getting a blue screen because of a software conflict with another device. This is discussed in this knowledge base article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306048
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Why won't my ipad charged when plugged into a computer?

I have a new ipad and for some reason it will sync etc when plugged into one of our computers but it won't charge.
My husbands one charges in the same USB port and on any computer but when I put my ipad into the same ports it says "not charging"why?
    Thank you

Most computer USB ports don't have enough power to charge an iPad.  Typically, the iPad can only be charged with the supplied adapter.  If your husband's iPad is actually charging, it's charging very, very slow.
See p. 33-34 of the User Guide.

  • HT4060 My iPad wont charge when plugged into a computer, the battery isn't lasting long, and its getting hot when charging

My iPad wont charge when plugged into a computer, the battery isn't lasting long, and its getting hot when charging

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night.
