Computer reboots when Max is opened

With NI-Daq installed the computer reboots anytime Measurement and automation is opened. I have tried NI-Daq versions 6.8, 6.9.3 and 7.4. It doesn't matter if the PCI-MIO-16E-4 card is installed or not. If Ni-Daq software is installed, the computer will reboot when Max is opened. Uninstall Ni-daq and no issues are noted. I can communicate with a PCI-GPIB card just fine. This is on a Windows 2000 machine and it worked fine. Came in one morning and this just started happening.

Hello,
Try uninstalling NI-MAX and all associated drivers. Go ahead and delete the MAX forder at: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MAX when you have finished. Then install NI-ADQ 7.4. This should fix the problem.
Let me know if this issue continues.

Sean C.

Are you getting any sort of blue screen when the PC restarts? If so, what numerical and textual codes are you getting for it?
    (For example: STOP 0x00000023 FAT_FILE_SYSTEM)
If the blue screen also mentions a specific file, let us know what the file is called. (Precise spelling please. Include filename extensions like .sys or .dll ... for example, "atiduag.dll".)

  • XP computer crashes when Firefox is open, then blames nVidia, but no blue screen appears.

XP Service Pack 3, with all updates
    Firefox multiple versions, currently 15
nVidia 6200 with multiple versions of drivers
Deep Scan using Vipre with current updates, found no viruses.
Computer reboots unexpectedly, no blue screen, but on recovery, Windows reports there was a blue screen and nVidia caused it. However, without Firefox open, I've had no crashes. Sometimes Firefox can be open, but then crashes when one of several new tabs (sites) are opened, but cannot identify what site might be causing it.

Are you experiencing this issue with another browser? Can you update to the newest version at http://getfirefox.com ?
Also you may have a virus -
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try some of the following programs to scan for malware:
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]
    * [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility]
    * [http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] (A good permanent anti-virus if you don't already have one)

  • Computer Reboots when the Reader is ran

We have a client that uses a Adobe Reader 9.2 from a website.  When a report is generated and pulled up, it will come up fine the first time.  The very next time its pulled up, it will reboot the computer.  Then it will again work 1 time and reboot on the 2nd try.
Even if i'm double clicking the 9 icon, it will open the first time fine, then reboot the pc on the next.  I've tried to uninstall /reboot/ reinstall.  Even tried using a older version.
Has anyone seen this before.  It does it with any profile on the PC also.  XP SP3, Dell Optiplex Gx620, 2 gig mem
I've even installed a free pdf reader and it works fine, but most of the programs they use, require Adobe.
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Richie
Please email me if you have any ideas.

It doesn't even have to be in the browser, cause it does it when I just open if from the program menu.  But it is explorer 8

  • Computer reboots when I connect my iPod to a USB 2.0 slot

    Here are my specs:
    - I have the new iPod 60 GigaByte hardrive version.
    - Operating System on my PC: Windows XP
    - CPU: AMD Athalon XP 1.8 gHz
    - My PC is several years old and has four built-in USB 1.1 slots. My iPod works on all of these USB 1.1 ports, albeit slow. (And when I connect iPod to these slots, I get the message telling me I have a high speed device connected to a non-high speed USB port, which I understand.)
    - I just installed a Dual-Link USB 2.0 and Firewire PCI card (from ADS tech) into an empty PCI slot on my PC. It has 3 USB 2.0 slots and two Fire-wire slots. The card is properly installed because windows immediately recognized it.
Now, I have tested two other devices on my new USB 2.0 slots. I have tested my mouse and a logitech gaming controller (although these devices are actually based on the older USB 1.1 technology), and these devices work in the USB 2.0 slots.
But, when I connect the iPod to any of the USB 2.0 slots, I get the little bell sound meaning that the computer is recognizing it. The iPod then displays the "Do not disconnect" message. But then the computer will begin rebooting by iteself. It will then attempt to reboot windows and almost gets there, but then reboots again. It continues this never-ending cycle of rebooting until I disconnect the iPod and then the computer reboots completely. Inserting the iPod will cause it to reboot again. This happens whether or not I have the iTunes program running.
Can anyone give me insight for resolving this problem? Has anyone else had this problem before?

  • Computer reboots when connecting ipod to USB cable.

Has this happened to anyone else?
All of a sudden now, whenever I connect my ipod to the USB cable, it makes my computer reboot! And it doesn't stop rebooting until I disconnect the ipod!
I have no idea why this is happening, and I don't know how to make it stop.
I am really starting to lose my faith in EVERY item that Apple has created.

When I connect my ipod to USB immediately following taking it off my AC adapter, it causes my computer (PC, XP) to restart.
Reinstall Windows. This has nothing to do with iTunes or any other Apple software, because that functionality is entirely Windows based.
If reinstalling windows fresh (and doing all the updates) doesn't fix it, then you have a hardware problem on the PC.

  • Msi gtx 970 gaming 4gb lose display and then computer reboots when EXITING games

When the graphics card is no longer under stress the display will lose signal and usually the computer reboots seconds later. During use, the card performs perfectly. I have a second computer so I have already tried the card with a different motherboard and power supply, with the same problem. There isn't an error message but checking the event log it states a sudden and unexpected loss of power had occurred. My power supplies are both new and gold rated. My drivers are current and the bios is the latest released (the one with the patch for the fans). I'm at a loss to explain the problem and will RMA as a last resort. Any ideas guys? Thanks

Use Afterburner and check "Force Constant Voltage" in their Settings. I think what causes these are the power saving sort of designs for both the mobo and vga, tbh, which makes the voltage more unstable. I think check this would help the problem a bit. Maybe you guys can try.
I figured that it was an issue with hardware stepping down  to save power and I've forced voltage to remain constant but the crash still happens unfortunately.

  • Pages somehow vanished off my computer. When trying to open a Pages document it says, "no default application" Any ideas where it went and how can I get it back?

The Pages program seems to have vanished off my computer. I can't open any of my Pages documents. It says " no default application" I've tried to search ffor it and there's nothing. Is there an advanced search I could try or some other thing I can do to find it? Thanks for any help.

    Hi msmuffy,
You can re-download it from the App Store: Open the App Store and make sure you are signed on with the Apple ID you used to purchase Pages originally. Click on the Purchases tab at the top of the screen. You should see Pages listed. If it says "Download" next to it, then you can re-download it. If it says "Installed" it means that it is somewhere on the Mac, so go to the Finder and do a Search from there.
    Cheers,

  • Computer freezes when trying to open Safari, how do I reboot without pressing the off button?

My macbook pro freezes with the wheel going on when I try to open safari, how do I stop this without shutting the computer completely?
    Message was edited by: Jojom

Have you tried holding down "CMD+OPTION+ESC" (⌘⌥ESC keys together) to get the 'force quit applications' window? You can then select Safari there and hit the Force quit button. In this window, also see if there are any other applications that are not working correctly (it might show a 'not responding' message against that application), and you can force quit that too.

  • My computer reboots when I try to import songs from a CD

    I have the latest iTunes.
I insert a CD and try to import the tracks, and my computer only gets through 2 or 3 tracks, and then shuts down and reboots.
I see no error messages, nothing.
Can anyone help me please?? I can't add any new CDs to my iPod this way!
    Thank you!

let's first see if we can see a "hidden" blue screen. try this technique to try to make a hidden blue screen show up:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
after doing that, are you seeing any sort of blue screen when importing? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)

  • My computer reboots when i connect iphone 4

    Any ideas...
I plug it in, it finds new hardware...thinks its a camera...and reboots itself.
Happens if I tunes is already going or not.
Was fine for the first few days then I took photos yesterday morning, now it reboots computer,
Not much use having a camera phone if I have to delte the photos to connect to my computer

No, it is a conflict with the webcam driver. It is a well known problem. You probably did not uninstall the driver correctly or uninstalled the wrong driver, but the best fix is to update the driver to the latest version, which does not have this bug.
The reason it doesn't happen if you have no photos is the iPhone does not register as a digital camera if there are no photos in the camera roll.

  • Computer reboots when i launch iTunes

Almost every time i run iTunes (70-80%) my computer imediately reboots, just like presing the reset button.
Aparently something causes a Windows Stop Error witch reboots the system to protect it.
After the reboot a get a Microsoft Crash Analisys window asking me if i want to report this problem. In the details window i get the following error info:
    BCCode : 10000050 BCP1 : BB9EA29E BCP2 : 00000000 BCP3 : 80580A1C
    BCP4 : 00000002 OSVer : 512600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1
I have this problem for some time now, even when i was using iTunes 4. With iTunes 5 and 6 the problem just persisted... I even uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it from scratch, but the problem remains.
I can't figure out what exactly causes the Windows Stop Error. It's quite frustrating since i can't update my iPod because of this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to reinstall the whole system especially since i'm not sure it will solve the problem...

No, sorry to say. I had no ideas. Well - OK, one idea - bring up Task Manager > Processes before you start iTunes and see if anything shows up there. But that seems futile, given the PC boots.

  • Computer froze when word doc opened

I was just opening a document from an email, when the whole desktop froze up.  It's been frozen for 1/2 hour.  I had unsaved documents open that I was working on!  Is there any way I can save or print them?  I can't click anywhere!  Help!

It's sad that you're going to lose data...  maybe someone could have helped if you'd given some info like what kind of Mac, what version of the OS, what app you were running, etc.

  • Why does the computer reboot when I plug in my creative ZEN?

I have used this mp3 player in computers before. I am on a new computer. I installed the creative hardware, but the second I plug my mp3 player into the computer it reboots and won't load up until I unplug it again. I know it's not an issue with the USB port because I tried more than one and checked to make sure they worked with other things. Why won't the computer read the mp3 player without restarting?

    More information:
The last event before it shuts down:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000050 (0xb5a9f897, 0x0000000, 0xf89788e4, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini08009-09.dmp.
Can I stop this "bugcheck" from happening again?
