Concurrent processing of messages

Hello,
We are splitting big messages in the file adapter.
After the split, we want XI to process the different messages concurrently (at the same time).
Does anybody have an idea how to arrange this?
Now all messages are processed after each other.
Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,
if the messages are sent with quality of service EO (=exactly once) you can add queues.
From documentation:
Netweaver XI -> Runtime -> Processing xml messages -> Queues for asynchronous message processing
...For incoming messages you set the parameter EO_INBOUND_PARALLEL from the Tuning category.
If more than one message is sent to the same receiver, use the configuration parameter EO_OUTBOUND_PARALLEL of the Tuning category to process messages simultaneously in different queues.

  • Single queue: concurrent processing of messages in multiple consumers

    Hi,
I am new to jms . The goal is to  process messages concurrently from a queue in an asynchronous listener's onMessage method  by attaching a listener instance to multiple consumer's with each consumer using its own session and running in a separate thread, that way the messages are passed on to the different consumers for concurrent processing.
    1) Is it ossible to process messsages concurrently from a single queue by creating multiple consumers ?

  • Concurrent (async, queue) Message processing - design issue

    Hi,
The question pertains to the following scenario:
    1. A single input gateway (queue) for messages.
    2. Messages arriving from different systems. High incidence (>30 within a
    min) during specific periods
    3. Message should be processed in near real-time as and when it arrives.
    4. A non-polling (async) client.
I'd thought of two diff approaches for it:
    1> Have a lightweight single-threaded message consumer -
init connection etc and register a listener (both msg and excep).
    start connection . wait indefinitely
Listener onMessage creates new thread for working and returns.
Worker thread - parses xml in message and updates database
    2>Have a single main-thread with sub-threads
Each sub-thread has own session and consumer and listener instance
processing of messages is done in sub-thread itself.
Which approach would be better suited ? Is there any other approach (
(which of the above goes easy on resources, which is faster)
    Thanks in advance.
    Anshu.

It depends on how concurrent you want to be.
If you want to process the messages in order in a single thread; use 1 connection, session, consumer, thread.
However one of the main reasons for using queues is they provide load balancing across processes or threads. If you want some parallelisation, use 1 connection but many sessions & consumers (1 consumer per session) which will each have its own thread.
For ultimate performance & pooling of connections, sessions, threads as well as the MessageListener POJOs together with exception handling & transaction management use something like Message Driven POJOs...
    http://jencks.org/Message+Driven+POJOs
Though if you are talking about 30-60 messages a minute, unless it takes you 1 second to process 1 message, those are very low throughput rates, so probably 1 single thread could do it :)

  • How to configure number of concurrent processes in XI?

    Hi experts,
    I have a simple interface:
    FILE -> XI -> FILE
The input file is a huge file containing thousands of records.
XI will split the huge input files, so that each record gets written to one file each.
Owing to the huge number of files being generated, I have many messages in status = "To Be Delivered" in the RWB.
When I do a filter for status = "Delivering", I see 4 messages in that status. (Of course the message IDs will differ from time to time, but at any point in time, I can only see 4 messages with the status = "Delivering").
How can I increase the number of concurrent processes that produces the output files?
    Please advise.
    Thanks.
    Ron

    Ron,
From this perfromance tuning guide , page 12 ,
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/70ada5ef-0201-0010-1f8b-c935e444b0ad
<i>The Adapter Framework requires a set of fixed application threads within the J2EE Engine for proc-essing different internal messaging queues (AFW queue, BC Adapter, CIDX Adapter, and so on). Ad-ditionally, certain channel configurations also require a fixed set of application threads (for example, RFC sender channel, File adapter channels). This may require a higher number of application threads. Therefore, within the J2EE Engine configuration (configtool or Visual Admin), go to:
Global Configuration -> Server -> Kernel -> ApplicationThreadManager
Set the MaxThreadCount property to 300</i>
Not sure if this is the exact property but this is sure worth giving a shot.

  • MDB topic listener and concurrent processing

    Hello to everybody.
I ve prototyped simple db publisher ,which publishes changed data from database to JMS topic. Then I have my MDB which listens on JMS topic.
I setup and implemented all correctly and it worked. There was 1 consumer = 1 mdb instance. Then I tried to do load testing , So I triggered 8000 changes from database. The db adapter did the job and published the 8000 messages on the JMS topic in a while. To mimic processing in MDB I put the sleep(10seconds) in MDB.
MDB topic processing seems to me as not concurrent one. Why? I observed 10 message decrease with 5-10 seconds.
What I expected was: concurrent processing of 8000 JMS messages by 1 MDB (so MDB is poolable component isnt it?).
So for 500 instances of topic MDB and 8000 messages on the JMS topic, I expected at least 8000/500 X 10 = 160 seconds to process message load.
    I am using WLS 816.
Can You give me some hits.
    Thanks
    Roman

I did the same test on Weblogic 10 and it worked as expected. MDB durable subscriber consumed 8000 messages (each msg processing had 10 secs sleep inside.) within 2 minutes. So it is ok.
But why it did not worked on WLS 8.1? Is this a bug ?

  • Help: Concurrent Processing Java Method every certain Time Interval

Hello, I am creating a program to access a database after adding items to cart via UPC code. When adding items, the program accesses the database to get product name and price. The program needs to have functionality for when the database is down. In this instance, the main program will store all UPC codes in a temporary Array List of integers, and once connection is reestablised, reference all these items from the database and add them to the main program (showing name and price). I need help with a method to be invoked when connection originally goes down. This method needs to check for database connectivity every 10 seconds until connection is reestablished so that all items can be dumped from temporary Array List to database for retrieval. What can I use for concurrent processing to have a method running in the background to check for connectivity every 10 seconds (while allowing user to continue adding items to cart). I have messed with the thread.sleep( ) but I am left with no other functionalities (program freezes) when the waitForConnection( ) loop method is invoked. What can I use? Thanks for your input everyone.

  • Linking PL\SQL procedure as Concurrent Process

    Hi.
I'm link PL-proc as concurrent process, and it runs without any
    errors.
Now I need also run it as standart report, but can't generate
output file to store any words to.
    help.
    mailto: [email protected]

    Thanks for your response.
I am writing a BPEL PM process for inserting AP Invoices by inserting data into the interface tables, and then executing the corresponding concurrent program (APXIIMPT). I would like to trap any errors and send them back to the BPEL process.
One suggestion on how to do this is to write a pl/sql procedure which inserts the data, executes the concurrent program, collects any error messages, and passes them back via OUT parameters. Such a procedure could be called using an adapter from BPEL PM.
So the issue for this forum is how to make the single pl/sql procedure wait for completion of the concurrent process.
Alternatively, is there a business event raised when the concurrent process completes?

  • Sender Mail Adapter Error: exception caught during processing mail message;

HI , I am configuring mail to file scenario. Need to read mail content (no need to capture From,TO or Subject details) and create a file with the content in the mail.
Need to read mails from microsoft outlook. Exchange server has been configured for POP3 protocol.
Following are the details provoding in sender mail adapter:
URL: provided url in the format: pop://<server name>
    Authentication method: plain
provided user credinetions to access mails.
    poll interval - 1min
    content encoding none.
processing parameters : quality of service-exactly once
Since there is no need to capture From,TO or Subject details, didn't select the option - use mail package.
Verified for unread mails in the mail box and made sure that there are few unread mails.
Also, created data types and other components in IR and completed mapping.
But after starting sender mail communication channel, getting error "exception caught during processing mail message; java.lang.NullPointerException" in RWB-adapter-communication channel monitoring.
please let me know what needs to be done to resolve this error.
    Thanks.

HI Stefan, i tried, but still it is giving same error. Yes, i am able to access outlook mail with the user credentials given in the communication channel to access exchange server.
I am using message protocol: xipayload . Also since i dont have to capture TO,from, subject details., created data type just with one element of type string, not in the standard format .Does this makes any difference.

  • PI 7.11 process SOAP message  with Attachments failed

    Hello,
we have a scenario where the sender (3rd-Party) start a sync call via PI to a receiver (SAP BW system).
The receiver send a response with attachment. SAP processed the message successfully but sender could not processed message because the SOAP header do not have the attribut Content-Transfer-Encoding.
with this attribut I could tell the sender that the attachments are more then 7bit.
How to can I set this attribut into the SOAP header in the SAP PI?
Or have someone an other idee?

    ISSUE VERIFICATION
    =================
Issue veryfied by the screen shots: XML_Pub1.bmp which shows:
Jave.sql SQL Exception No corresponding LOB data found: select File_data_dbms_lob...........
    ACTION PLAN
    ============
    Hi Bashobi,
    1. Since you can not reproduce the issue from sysadmin responsibility can we say the issue specific to Receivables Manager
    responsibility<INV xml report>?
    2. You said before: "Concurrent process for XML Publisher fails with warning. Cannot see Diagnostics
--> XML output completely. Only first page visible. Buttons and Menu items
disabled not allowing to view the whole XML file to troubleshoot for
    correct/incorrect tags.":
    Is the above mean :
-The xml publisher report completed but you can not view the whole XML file
-Or the xml publisher report error out with "Jave.sql SQL Exception No corresponding LOB data found: select File_data_dbms_lob.."
    Thanks.

Our DBA has applied the 5.6.2 patch on our dev instance. My concurrent process

    Template code: BE_RAXINV
    Template app: XXBE
    Language: en
    Territory: US

    Hi All,

    Seems like Article ID: 864906.1
    Cause
The cause of this problem is, the entries in aud_jms table which were not processed
after run "Issue Audit Messages Task" schedule task are not complete audit entries.
    Solution
    1. Run the following query.
select IDENTIFIER from aud_jms where aud_class='UserProfileAuditor'
    IDENTIFIER is the usr_key.
Save the output of above query into text file. lets say a.txt, the a.txt will looks like........
    a.txt
    122896 122896 122997 122999 122999
    122986
    122997
    2. Delete the all entries (rows ) from aud_jms table
    3. Run the GenerateSnapshot.sh/GenerateSnapshot.bat using following parameter.
GenerateSnapshot.bat -inputFile E:\OIM9101\XLServer\xellerate\bin\a.txt -missingSnapshots -username xelsysadm -password xelsysadm -numOfThreads 2
Where E:\OIM9101\XLServer\xellerate\bin\a.txt is the location of text file which is created in Step1.
    4. Run the "Issue Audit Messages Task" schedule task

  • RE: Processing Logged messages in batch mode ?

    Paul,
One way to findout the log file is to inspect your
<CentralServer>.log. It should have a line something like..
    Redirecting output to <someDirectory>/forte_ex_26564.log.
That is the file the the current ftexec is writing to.
This has worked fine for me.
Another way is to sort the files by date, and look at the latest
    ones.
...I'd love to hear about a better way to do this.

Subject: Processing Logged messages in batch mode ?
    Hi,
When I launch partitions, they display a whole bunch of 'useful' messages.
    (maybe using 'task.logmgr.putline')
I'm afraid these traces go directly in the launcher's log file under
    $FORTE_ROOT/log
As I get control only when the ftexec ends for the next instruction to be
    interpreted,
how can I figure out which of these log files relates to the ftexec I just
    got executed ?
    (example: "forte_ex_3613.log")
I found '/output' for node managers, but for single ftexec(s) ?
    (thinking also about re-used ftexec(s))
    Thanks in advance,
    j-paul gabrielli
