Conditional use of page item

Hello,
I am trying to use a page item:
If the value is missing,
then
get a new value from a db sequence
else
Automated Row Fetch and display a row using the item.
I can get these working but only if I have one and not the other programmed as 'page processes'
Cheers
KIM

Got this sorted now. I had used 'Automatic Row Processing (DML)', instead of just 'Automatic Row Processing ' for one of my processes.

  • Fill the full browser height using 100% page items?

    I know Muse allows for visual designs that fill the full browser width using browser fill image tiling and 100% width page items, but can this be done vertically as well for full height of browser fill? I'm having issues getting this to work even after filling a rectangle from top to bottom of browser. HELP!

    Hello,
    100% stretch only works for the width of the rectangle and not for height in Adobe Muse.

  • Enhancement Request : Subscriptions where IR uses Page Items.

    I'd like to request an Enhancement.
    I'd like report subscriptions to keep track of the current values of any page items in the sql statement when the subscription is stored.
    Currently any Interactive Reports that use page items run fine interactively, but subscriptions fail due to the page items having no values.

    Oh ok I see what you're trying to do but that's not what I meant.
    1. If your IR filters based on a page item and is a subscribable report, you have no choice but to work a NVL (or some other means) in there in order to make a true condition when the page item is null or nonexistent in order for the report to work at all during subscription.
    2. If you never want the user to be able to query all rows in the application (that is, force them to enter something in the page item), you'll need a not-null validation on the page so when they submit their page item change that it validates not-null.
    3. Use the filter in the IR (but NOT referencing a page item) such that the user can save/subscribe to an IR with the desired filter such that they get the properly-filtered named IR.
    Does that make sense?

    Thanks for helping me out Tony.
    It is a single row form. But the same form is used many time to add records for that particular server..
    In the first form the user enters the server details. In the second form they need to associate applications with the server name they entered in the first form.
    They can add any number of such applications.
    The contenst in my form are
    Server_name: ( read only field populated by the name they entered in the first form)
    application_name:
    Manger1:
    Manager2:
    When the user clicks on add button the applcaition should be associated to the server he added in the first form.For this I need the Id of the Server_name he added in the first form.
    I also need to store this info in a temporary table apart from the original Server-App relationt able. Thats the reason I had database trigger which was also adding stuff to a temporary table apart from adding the relationships to the main table.
    But even if we frget about hte temporary table can you please tell me how I can use the Page item value in form 1 and get its id from database and use it to insert server-app relation in second form?

  • Problem using Page items in trigger

    Hello all,
    I have a requirement in my application in which I need to use a page item in my trigger..
    My basic requiremtn is I have 2 forms to enter data..I need the name entered int he first form to be displayed in the second form, since am associating the data entered in the 2nd form to the name entered in the 1st form..
    In my 2nd form where I need this, am setting the Source of Server_Name to P105_DEVICE_NAME. But I need this info to enter the details to the table..So I ve created the folowwing trigger.

    VALUES (vComputer_ID,:NEW.DEP_APP_REL_ID,:NEW.TECHNICAL_MANAGER,:NEW.FUCNTIONAL_MANAGER,:NEW.APPLICATION_COORDINATOR,v('APP_USER'),sysdate);
    END;
    But am getting an error executing this

    Is there any other way to access the Page Items from the trigger?
    Thanks,

    Thanks Tyson. I have changed it but I still get the same error.
    For some reason, The value of P105_DEVICE_NAME is becoming null.
    I tried executing the following in SQL workshop.
    begin
    dbms_output.put_line('skdjaldjakdjalkdj');
    dbms_output.put_line(v('P105_DEVICE_NAME'));
    end;
    and got the following output
    skdjaldjakdjalkdj
    Statement processed.
    0.00 seconds
    It doesnt print anything for v('P105_DEVICE_NAME').
    Any idea why this is happening?

  • Dynamic alignment of report column and page item value

    Hi friends,
    I have an interactive report which contains the columns like
    <li>empno
    <li>Name
    In the above i have "empno" with a column alignment of left and a "Name" with a column alignment of left.
    Whether it is possible to override the data alignment that we set in the report according to the value of the application item like
    If my application item value is US, then i need the column alignment of both the column"empno" and "Name" to be left and if my application item value is AR, then i need the column alignment of both the column "empno" and "Name" to be right. Whether is it possible to achieve the dynamic alignment to the report data of both the columns "empno" and "Name" according to the application page item value.
    And also in the case of page item i have a page item with a name P1_NAME in which it has a Element Horizontal/Vertical alignment to left.
    I need that element alignment of the page item to behave dynamically according to the application page item, like if the application page item is US then the element alignment of the page item has to be left and if the application page item is AR then the element alignment of the page item has to be right.
    Whether is it possible to achieve my above two scenario's friends. Kindly help me with this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Brgds,
    Mini

    Kees,
    Your approach is excellent and brilliant:-)
    I tried with your steps and i can achieve those alignment in both ways like you said(either on page load/through DA).
    But im going with the DA way. I have certain query regarding this kees.
    <li>Suppose if the report, is classic whether i can go with the same approach that i have achieved alignment with the IR report.
    <li>Currently through the DA way, i used the page item in the condition. Is it possible to use the application item instead of page item in DA. Because im going to use the application item FSP_LANGUAGE_PREFERENCE for getting the code either 'AR' or 'US'.
    <li>Finally i need this kind of restriction for the page item also, consider like i have a page item P1_X with an Element Vertical/Horizontal alignment as left. Now i need to change that alignment to right according to the application page item value, hence i can give application item condition for the page item like below
    PL-SQL EXPRESSION: :FSP_LANGUAGE_PREFERENCE = 'AR'
    i need the element alignment of the page item to behave dynamically suppose if the application item value is AR then the element alignment of that page item has to be right if the application item value is US then the element alignment of that page item has to be left, irrespective of the page item Element Vertical/Horizontal alignment that was set to it.
    Thanks for your kind help

  • Session state of page item different from one region to another region

    hi,
    on one particular page I have two regions. A page item (LOV pop-up) is set in the first region. I leave this region with a button and jump back with a branch to the same page. The page item has now the selected value (as is shown by session state window). So far so good.
    The second region (SQL query type) uses this page item. However, for some reason the page item is NULL in that second region.
    Can anyone explain this behavior ?
    ron

    thanks Joel,
    I did already what you suggested. The title in region 2 is evaluated to the same value as in region 1.
    The SQL query (that actually runned with identical syntax before) is:
    select bla from blatable where bla = :P920_RU
    this generates:
    report error:
    ORA-12801: error signaled in parallel query server P000
    ORA-01741: illegal zero-length identifier
    So apperently the bind variable is evaluted to (or cached as) NULL.
    I noticed something strange in the session window. There are several page items in the application. All of them are listed in the 'Session State' region. The page item that makes problems is the only one that is also listed in the 'Page Items' region. It is even listed when I start the session window from another page. Weird.
    any other ideas ?
    Actually, how could you possibly clear session state between rendering two regions ?

  • CASE vs DECODE - CASE with SUM and All in Page Item is non aggregable

    Hi,
    I'm using Discoverer 9.0.4.
    After switching calculations from DECODE to CASE
    I found out that case gives a non aggregable result when using a Page Item and selecting <All>.
    The calculations
    (SUM x) / (SUM y)
    or
    (x SUM) / (y SUM)
    where x and y are variables, work fine with page item <All>.
    But for example:
    CASE WHEN 1=2 THEN 1 ELSE (SUM x) / (SUM y) END
    gives non-aggregable.
    The same code works with DECODE:
    DECODE(1,2,1,(SUM x) / (SUM y))
    and is aggregable.
    Does anyone know a reason or a way to make it work with CASE?
    Thanks,
    Joao Noronha
    P.S.: I wanted <= comparisons and CASE is the best in simplicity,
    but now I know I can do it with DECODE, still looking ok using LEAST instead of ABS of the difference.

    Hi there
    I think therefore you have answered your own question and determined that using CASE in aggregations is not a good idea. I only threw out the two CASE options as ideas not as solutions, just in case (pardon the pun) one of these worked in your situation.
    Your comment I must say that if it worked it would give a wrong result (the sum of the divisions is not the same as the division of the sums) may give the wrong answer in your case but may be correct in others. It just depends how the items in the folder have been set up. I agree though that SUM(x) / SUM(y) will more often than not give the right answer.
    This discussion about DECODE vs CASE has been going on ever since Oracle introduced CASE as a means of placating a younger breed of user who needed an IF..THEN...ELSE construct and could not get their minds around the intricacies of DECODE. The DECODE is a much more reliable function than CASE because it has been around for a long time allowing Oracle plenty of opportunity to iron the bugs out of it. If I get a chance I will always use a DECODE whenever aggregations are required. However, when no aggregations are in use then I'll use CASE, simply because it's easier for users to work with.
    Unfortunately, users need to work with aggregations and so I don't see any alternative to Plus users having to learn DECODE. Whenever I teach Plus I always teach the users both CASE and DECODE but point out that DECODE has fewer issues that CASE. Oh, and talking of issues, try getting the THEN and ELSE components to return a different datatype. CASE has a fit and will not compile.
    Best wishes and glad you got your issue solved - you did right?

    Michael

  • Increase width of page items on a web form in v11.1.2.3

    Hello
    In Hyperion version 11.1.2.3 webforms, is there a way to increse the width of drop down page items in a form?
    It seems that diemnsions used as pages items all reverst to on standard width, which make using the forms far less user friendly
    In my case forms dispay aliases of projects and position/employee combinations where the full length of the member alias needs to be shown
    Please let me know
    Thanx
    Berndt

    Hi Paul,
    I think that you have two posts for the same issue, am I correct?
    Regarding your problem. Have you tried to run the rule without the variable? Put a trigger and try to "populate" a value in the specific member. This will explain if the issue is related with the variable or the member.

  • Charts based on page items

    Hello,
    I want to create a Pie chart based on page items. There are 3 page items that I want to use for an Pie chart. The page items are calculated in an page process PL/SQL block and they are numbers. I want all PL/SQL in that page process and from there built the Pie chart. Is this possible to use the page items for the pie chart, I can only find information to build charts with querys.
    I use apex 4

    I have used an function with three values as input and returning an pl/sql table with the three values.

  • Hide Page Items - urgent please

    I am using 3 page items to display in the header of my report, but I don't actually want Page Items in my workbook...
    I've tried making the font/background white and the font size 1, but I still get 3 rectangular boxes where those page items would be. It looks rather strange... how can I hide the page items when the report is printed?
    I'm trying to get this ready for Monday (it is Saturday), so if anyone could offer help quickly I'd appreciate it!
    Thanks,
    Emily

    Michael,
    Thanks for responding so quickly! Let me further explain the situation to see if you have any ideas...
    I don't actually need page items... I have 1 parameter that the user is required to enter which will actually return the other 3 items uniquely for this workbook. The user enters the AP Batch Name and that returns the Batch Date, Invoice Count and Total (there is only 1 record that will be returned). So, the user won't actually choose any of the 3 items to filter the data because they would be given a list of 1 thing. I don't mind making parameters, but only if I can just assign the appropriate values to them and the user doesn't have to enter/see them on the parameters dialog.
    Could you explain further what the following means?
    [email protected] wrote:
    The best you can do is have a second sheet for printing with the page items pushed down into the body of the report. Now you can sort on them and then hide them.

  • Creating page items from pl/sql procedure and using them on a page

    I have a page containing 2 select lists (P21_DEPARTMENTS and P21_DATE). Originally I added them as items that were "select list with submits". The problem is that based on the clearance level of the currently logged on user I only wanted the P21_DEPARTMENTS to be a select list if the user was an administrator. If however the user is not an admin then I want the page to have a hidden form field called P21_DEPARTMENTS that stores the user's department and has a label item that has the department name.
    There is also a report region that generates a table based on the department selected from the select list (if the user is an admin) or the value stored in the hidden form field if the user is not.
    My problem is that I cannot have both those items on the same page and use the HTML built-in authentication to determine which item should be rendered because I need to use the same ID for both items so that the stored procedure in my report region doesn't break. HTML does not permit items to share the same ID.
    I tried to circumvent the problem by creating a stored procedure that performs all of the item rendering in the procedure and uses "htp.p()" to output all of my HTML code. This solution would allow me to pass a parameter into the procedure informing me as to whether or not the user is an administrator. If the user is an administrator the procedure would use a conditional statement and render a select list. If not, the hidden form field and label option would be used instead.
    I finally got the stored procedure working perfectly. Now I am encountering the most bizarre thing. Since the "select list with submit" was not working (I used the same code that gets generated when I created other items using htmlDB's GUI) I decided to use a JavaScript function instead that gets triggered by the onChange event. I send along the value that is currently selected in the select list and in the function I set:
    location.href='http://www.myoraclesite.com/pls/htmldb/f?p=111:21:729740000000000000::NO::P21_DEPARTMENTS:1';
    In theory this should work. The problem is that it doesn't. The page reloads and the P21_DEPARTMENTS select list is not pre-selected.
    The only thing I can think of is that when htmlDB generates page items that you've created with it's own admin tool it assigns some internal guid or something as opposed to when someone tries to generate dynamic page items of their own from a pl/sql procedure it's like the application doesn't even know they exist.
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    My only other solution would be to create a totally separate page (one for admin and another for non-admin). I would really like to avoid this.
    Thanks in advance.

    I would love to be able to generate my menus and
    various other items in my htmlDB applications in much
    the same way I can using ASP, PHP and Cold Fusion.
    Users should have the ability to write server-side
    code wherever they feel like it. The way htmlDB works
    right now I spend more time trying to figure out how
    to create simple effects and generate simple
    interfaces when I need to be building a portal. Ami - it's important to understand that HTML DB is not like other languages. Thus, trying to force concepts which are common in other languages into HTML DB will often result in more work.
    It's definitely worth the time to go over the HTML DB 2-day Developer, which can be found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/pdf/B14377_01.pdf
    I can build a portal using Classic ASP, C#, PHP or Cold
    Fusion in like 1/10 of the time that it takes me to
    build one using htmlDB. I understand that this is not
    meant for the hard-core programmer but no web
    programming application in today's day and age should
    prevent experts from getting under the hood.And I can build a Portal in HTML DB in 1/10 the time it will take me to do it in any other language. It's like anything else - proficiency comes with practice and work.
    As for getting under the hood, there is plenty of places you can do that with HTML DB. Keep in mind that HTML DB itself is an HTML DB application, so the limits on what you can build with HTML DB are virtually limitless.
    Sorry for the vent there. After spending the last 2
    days trying to figure out how to implement such a
    straightforward thing and now being informed that it
    can't be done kind of bugged me.I understand your frustration, as I've been there before. My rule for beginners is that if you are writing more than a line or two of code in the first week, you're doing something wrong. Stop, take a break, and then use the ample resources (including searching this forum) to help solve your problem. There are plenty of resources available for you to learn about HTML DB on the HTML DB home page: http://otn.oracle.com/htmldb
    Good luck,

  • Button condition on page item and Validation error Conflict

    Hi,
    I have a select list page item and a button on page whose condition is based on the select list page item value(eg, If (:P2_item1='val1'){return true;}) with condition type=PL/SQL function returning boolean. This buttons submits the page.
    It' coming fine in normal case. However, if I select some value val2 from the list and then click the button, and if there are any validation errors (like mandatory check or email check fail etc), then the button disappears because it evaluates the button condition based on the changed value(val2), but the page has not yet been submitted because of validation errors.
    I think this can be solved if I create the button condition based upon database column value instead of page item as db col value won't change until the page is submitted.
    This look like very basic use-case and I would like to know if there is any better solution to this problem.
    Note: I am using Apex 4.2.1

    I don't want to show/hide the button on the change of the page item lov value, so i am not using Dynamic action.
    What i was is to make button visible based on a condition(which is based on page item), for which we have condition attribute of a button available.
    This is a very common thing where a user chooses the button condition as Value of item/column in expression 1 is null/expr2. But what if the user changes the page item value but it doesn't get submit due to validation error. In that case, the button condition fails.
    So, i guess i have to use column name in expression 1, can u tell how to do that?
    Expression 1 = IF (:P2_STATUS='val1') then return true;
    How to change the above to use db column 'status' instead? Any direct way(like #Status#) or I have to query db to get it using select.
    Any alternative approach?

  • Conditionally set page item based on value of another item

    Hello,
    I have a form that is used to create/apply changes to records. There is an application item (APP_ITEM_PROFILE)
    that is set on login which contains a value for the user's Profile ID. This Profile ID is used through out the
    application for authorizations (conditionally present tabs, etc).
    I've set a page item on the form equal to APP_ITEM_PROFILE so that the record is stamped
    with that user's profile ID when they create a record. Users with different Profile IDs may later make changes to
    the record but I want to keep the original Profile_ID on the record.
    I am trying to populate the Profile ID conditionally in the form based on the existence of a
    record ID. If there is no ID (a new record is being entered), then I want the
    Profile ID to be that of the current user (APP_ITEM_PROFILE). If there is an ID (modification is
    being made to an existing record), then I want the keep the Profile ID that was originally saved
    with the record in MyTable.
    I have this as the source for :P11_PROFILE_ID. The type is PL/SQL Expression or Function, Always, replacing... but it
    is not working (page not found when page is run):
    begin
    if :P11_ID is not null
    then
    select PROFILE_ID
    into :P11_PROFILE_ID
    from MyTable
    where ID = :P11_ID;
    elsif :P11_ID is null
    then select nv(':APP_ITEM_PROFILE') into :P11_PROFILE_ID from dual;
    end if;
    end;
    Item Descriptions:
    ID is the record ID.
    :P11_ID is the page item of the record ID (Display as Text, saves state).
    PROFILE_ID is the user's Profile ID.
    :P11_PROFILE_ID     is the page item of the user's Profile ID.
    :APP_ITEM_PROFILE is the user's Profile ID that is set on login.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt
    Update:
    I found one of Scott's answers:
    Using IF Else to determine the value of a Item
    and modified the above code to:
    declare l_ret number;
    begin
    if :P11_ID is not null
    then
    select PROFILE_ID
    into l_ret
    from MyTable
    where ID = :P11_ID;
    else select :APP_ITEM_PROFILE' into l_ret from dual;
    end if;
    return l_ret;
    end;
    It seems to be setting the Profile ID correctly when the ID is not null, but not when a new record is being created. In the latter case, there is no value.

  • How To Use a Hidden Page Item within an SQL Report Query without Submitting

    Hi,
    Using: Oracle ApEx 3.0.1
    I have an sql report region that contains a hidden page item as part of the "where clause". My problem is, based on a value entered by the user, I need to assign this value enetered to my hidden item, so that it can be used within the where condition of my sql but this would need to be done without actually submitting the form.
    At the moment, I can set the value via an on-demand process but my SQL is still not returing any values as the hidden page item within the query is not set (as page has not been submitted).
    Can anybody please assist as I am not sure how to do this and whether in actual fact, this is possible to do, without having submitted the page.
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    You can set a session value using a dummy ajax call e.g:
    Add the following to the 'Function and Global Variable Declaration' region
    function f_set_item(pThis){
      var get = new htmldb_Get(null,&APP_ID.,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=dummy',1);
      get.add('P1_ID',pThis.value)
      gReturn = get.get();
      get = null;
    }Where P1_ID is the session value to be set. Then call the function in the usual way e.g.
    javascript:f_set_item(this);
    I hope that helps
    Shunt
