Config Reader/Kernel Reader Alarm Files

Where are the files located for your Alarm Action? We have several 72+ CPU machines and don't really feel like manually setting alarms via the gui. Can I edit a file?
Thanks

Hi lmd,
Where are the files located for your Alarm Action? We
have several 72+ CPU machines and don't really feel
like manually setting alarms via the gui. Can I edit
a file?SunMC's "Managed Jobs" feature (Tools --> Managed Jobs) lets you automate this type of thing 2 ways:
-a "Data Property" Task lets you set all those thresholds once on the Server, then you just pick what Agents to apply it to. And those tasks are stored so you can run them over and over
-a "Configuration" Task lets you set up one Agent the way you want and template it's configuration and save it on your SunMC Server. Then you can apply that template to other Agents.
Data Property tasks are good when you want to go tweak a few things on a lot of systems. Configuration tasks are better to grab the entire config of an Agent as a template or backup (i.e. you can make a "web server" template, and "Oracle" template etc and apply them as you need them).
If you really want to edit files, the thresholds you set are stored on the Agent in <module>.dat or <module>+<instance>.dat files in /var/opt/SUNWsymon/cfg. i.e. if you edit thresholds in the Kernel Reader module, they will be saved into kernel-reader.dat.
You can set your thresholds once, then copy the resulting file to another (stopped) Agent and start it up. The syntax of the file is simple, so you could also edit it and put in the thresholds you want.
Note: Configuration Tasks are actually moving files around under-the-hood just like you asked about (using the SunMC web server to store and retrieve them). Hint: after making a Configuration task go look in /var/opt/SUNWsymon/mcp on your SunMC Server... it will contain the relevent .dat files from the Agent you templated.

  • Generic Config reader X86 for Sun Mc 4.0

    Hi
    What down mean this note for Generic Config reader X86 , and how can I enable it
    Note - Only machines with service controllers enabled can display these six new modules. In the absence of a service controller or when the service controller does not support the IPMI tool, the x86 Config Reader will revert to the older output version in the Sun MC 3.6.1 release.
    is the service on the client side ?
    Thanks

    Hi Pegah Garous,
    As per http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=115, I started debugging yesterday and here are the details.
    1. I have found menu containing only copy, no vmstat when on right click on module browser ==> Kernel reader ==> CPU statistics.
    2. On investigating the logs, i found following in */tmp/probeserver.stderr* file
    INFO: Connected to database
    cancel timeout
    clntEvDispatch: failed to find rtyp key, status (-2021)
    eventmgr exiting ...
    INFO: Dis-Connected from database
    Rest of all log files in /var/opt/SUNWsymon/log seems perfect without any error.
    3. I don't have probe settings in agent's /var/opt/SUNWsymon/cfg/domain-config.x file. Do i have to add one to get this vmstat? Can I just add the port settings and restart agent? If I add in agent, do I have to add in server's /var/opt/SUNWsymon/cfg/domain-config.x file also? Because even i want to collect data from agent running on server machine.
    4. Regarding how to use it, I have followed all these steps exactly and at the end i found nothing in "Data Availability"
    5. I have also checked the steps in http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=2 and http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=33. Nothing seems to be working.
    Thanks,
    Thiru

    Hello
    Thanks Manish .
    I found many articles in cisco which says that this error is related to the bug which need firmware upgrade , but I don't have support from cisco because EOS.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/49511/updated-16-february-2011-ibm-7816-i4-782x-i4-filesystem-errors
    Solution
    The file-system going read-only issue which has recently been affecting server models MCS-7816-I4, MCS-7825-I4, and MCS-7828-I4 (or their IBM equivilants) in the field is addressed by CSCti52867 - "IBM 7816-I4 and 782x-I4 READONLY file system".
    The fix for CSCti52867 is now available and requires the application of two patch files.  Install both of these patch files in the order listed below.
    1. First install ciscocm.ibm-diskex-1.0.cop.sgn
         The Readme file ciscocm.ibm-diskex-1.0.cop.sgn includes installation instructions for this .cop.sgn.
         Make sure to only install this utility when show hardware CLI output indicates the array is in a healthy state.
         If your server has never had the filesystem go readonly then this step is optional.
    2. Next install Cisco-HDD-FWUpdate-3.0.1-I.ISO .
         The Readme file Cisco-HDD-FWUpdate-3.0.1-I.Readme.pdf includes installation instructions for this ISO.
         This installer is completely independant of the OS installed on the server.
    Note:  Installing the FWUpdate v3.0(1) or later will get you firmware with the fix for this defect.  It is always recommended that you apply the latest FWUCD available for your server.
    Refer to the Release Note of CSCti52867 and the Readme file for each of the above mentioned patch files for more details.
    Symptoms
    The file system goes READONLY, then CUCM services may go down, the server may become "unresponsive" meaning that it is not possible to ssh into the server, login to the console, or web into the server although it may still respond to pings.
    Traces from all services stop writing (including syslog)
    You see the following error on the server console
    EXT3-fs error (device sda6) in start_transaction: Jornal has aborted

    Many thanks

    Hi Foreverduy,
    Before you run SQL Server 2008 express setup, make sure that you have installed Windows installer 4.5 and.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 manually. For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506(v=sql.100).aspx. Moreover, please turn off all the third-party softwares which could prohibit the installation process.
    According to your error message, the issue could be due to that your account has no rights to install SQL Server, or the corruption on the media.
    Firstly, please ensure that your account has admin rights. Also make sure that you right-click the setup.exe and choose “Run as administrator” to complete the installation.
    Secondly, please check if "msdbdata.mdf" file exists at d:\8268cd7b247d294de359c9\x86\setup\sql_engine_core_inst_msi\PFiles\SqlServr\MSSQL.X\MSSQL\Binn\Template. If it exists, please make sure that your account has read permission to the extracted
    folder.
    However, if the file doesn't exist in the extraction, the media could be corrupt. Please download the
    media
    again and check if the issue still occurs.

    Michelle Li

  • FILENOTFOUNDEXCEPTION while reading property files in Tomcat 6------Help me

    Hi All
    I am planning to migrate my web application from iplanet 4.1 to tomcat 6. In this process I need to read the properties files initially.
    for eg: i got the property files in a iPlanet:
    Config directory---
    abc.properties.---
    abc.log--
    In tomcat I configured them in web.xml saying that.
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>ABC</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>com.ijk.abc</servlet-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>Loan</param-name>
    <param-value>/WEB-INF/config</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>loan.props</param-name>
    <param-value>/WEB-INF/config/abc.props</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>loan.log</param-name>
    <param-value>/WEB-INF/config/abc.log</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>ABC</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    I need to read initially all the property files and then proceed.
    While configuring in this way, it am getting error saying that
    abc.props or abc.log..............(FILE NOT FOUND EXCEPTION)
    Can anyone suggest me how to configure them.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Thanks for your response, Actually we dont have the source code for that because it is very old code, but i m using decompiler in which i can get some informtaion.
    OS used for iPlanet is Unix but now I need to deploy this application in tomcat in windows server 2003.

    Right now, i placing it in the WEBAPPS/MYWEBAPPLICATION/WEB-INF/LOAN/abc.props,abc.logs.
    Its giving me errors such as FILENOTFOUNDEXCEPTION or cannot read the property files.
    The main problem is ...I donot have the complete source code. while decompiling i m not able view complete source code.
    Please help me regarding this.........

  • Web Service; Error attempting to read from file

    I'm trying to connect to a web service as outlined by the book "Creating Dynamic Forms with Adobe LiveCycle Designer" which is an excellent book by the way.
    I'm receiving the following error "Error attempting to read from file. http://www.webservicex.net/BibleWebservice.asmx"
    I've successfully created the Data Connection to
    http://www.webservicex.net/BibleWebservice.asmx?wsdl
    I dragged and dropped the bookTitle, chapter & Versie onto the form. I also dragged and dropped the GetBibleWordsByChapterAndVerseResult and the GetBibleWordsByChapterAndVerseBtn.
    I Preview PDF and click the button I get the above error.
    Does anyone have experience using Web Services with Adobe LiveCycle ES and have advice on how to resolve this. Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    -Todd

    Well, I have more news on the error I'm getting. - NO I didn't find the problem. Yet
    I checked and made sure that web.config had "None" selected " in authentication mode. I.E. <authentication mode="None" /> This should eliminate any authentication problems since that turns off IIS's authentication checking.
    At first I was thinking the form was generating the error trying to read the result coming back from the web service, but I put in some code that writes the result to a log file when the method fires off.
    I noticed that when I clicked on the button on the form, the error message would pop up from Acrobat, but when I check the log file, there was NO entry. This means that Acrobat failed before it could execute the method.
    Here is the web method:
    [WebMethod(CacheDuration = 30,
    Description="Returns the String 'True' or 'False' whether or
    not you entered a 'T' or 't'.")]
    public string TF(string Tf)
    string result="False";
    if(Tf.Substring(0,1).ToLower()=="t"){
    result= "True";}
    LogFile.Write("Sent: "+result);
    return result;

  • Reading local files

    I need to read local files in C with Alchemy (at least on
    developer's machine). This should allow more rapid application
    development with Lua Alchemy -- as developer would be able to
    exclude swf build step.
    I have added directory with my .swf to the FlashTrust config.
    I'm able to load the file with URLLoader. However fopen() on it
    returns NULL. Please see the attached code.
    Executables, compiled with Alchemy (and run with swfbridge),
    are able to work with local files. What should I do to allow my
    application to work with local files in the same manner?
    Alexander.

    I have tried fopen(), and it does not work (see code in
    original post). I would like to get working fopen() (and family)
    somehow, so I would be able to get vanilla Lua sources to work with
    files.
    My other option, of course, is to replace file-related
    functions in core Lua libraries. This is not that hard, and even
    doable without modifying of Lua sources, but I'd like to avoid this
    solution.
    UPD: I have looked at the libpng sample. If I get it
    correctly, funopen() there operates on ByteArray, not on actual
    file. (I have no experience with BSD API, so it was not immediately
    clear for me.)
    I need to operate on actual file on local file system.
    Thank you,
    Alexander.

  • Config Reader on E250?

    Have installed the SunMC agent on two E250's and cannot get a common config reader to load on either - it does not even show as an option. This appears to leave me without the ability to monitor hardware on these platforms.
    Will I get hardware alerts in this situation? Is there something I am simply missing or doing wrong? I do get MIB-II and Kernel Reader (both simple) and other aspects of SunMC appear fine.
    Note, am using just the base management capabilities of SunMC.
    Thanks in advance.

    Have installed the SunMC agent on two E250's and
    cannot get a common config reader to load on either -
    it does not even show as an option.I think the E250 is covered by the Workgroup Server, and the Sun FIre V250 is covered by the Common Config Reader... but it's been awhile since I checked.
    If you have the proper Config Reader specified when es-inst is run, then es-setup should have automatically loaded it for you when the Agent was first started.
    Will I get hardware alerts in this situation? Is
    there something I am simply missing or doing wrong? Without a Config Reader module loaded you aren't doing any hardware monitoring. Try re-running es-inst and choosing the Workgroup Server option (I think it's last on the list), then let it rerun es-setup.

  • Labview Read INI File Slow

    Dear ALL:
          I have a VI use OpenG Read INI Cluster subvi to read a complex cluster data structure called step config data,and when I Run this VI,It sometimes read INI File quickly,and sometimes read INI File very slowly.If I want to speed up the read INI File speed,I must quit labview and restart it,and when I quit labview it will reports error just look like Labview Error Message.JPG

    I've got the same problem - it takes from 4 to 20 SECONDS to write and read 2 ini file clusters.
    The first cluster I write have a few text strings, an error cluster and some numbers.
    The second is an array of clusters (I loop through the array and writes each cluster separately.) containing some text and numbers, most of it contained in sub-clusters.
    With 0 or 1 element in the array it takes around 4 secs to write and read this to ini file. With 20 in the cluster this takes 20 seconds (on a cFP-2120).
    The openG functionality here is quite nice, but if I can't fix this time problem I'm afraid its quite useless!

    One needs to know the meaning of the kernel functions and their working within the oracle database. I guess, oracle support can do the analysis more easily as they have access to the software code  as well necessary tools to interpret these internal routines.

  • Read a file resource in servlet

    Hello,
    I try to read a file ressource in a Servlet with following statements:
    ServletContext ServCont = this.getServletContext();
    String strConfFile = ServCont.getRealPath("/xml/config.xml");
    With Tomcat5.5 it works, but with Bea 9.1 I get null.
    I tried also read from a system ressource:
    String strConfFile1 = System.getProperty("PTSHISTWeb.conFile");
    but I don't know where to declare the property in Bea9.
    Can anybody help?
    Best regards
    Peter

    getRealPath can return null if the resource is in an archived WAR. Can you use getResourceAsStream instead?
    You can declare system properties with -D flags on the java command-line you use to boot a server.
    Of if you wanted to do it in code, you could run a startup class which is configured to run before application deployment and call System.setProperty there.
