Configure outlook client for PC not in domain
Hello,
I am hoping someone can assist me with this one. Might be a simple one for some of you :)
We currently have an Exchange 2013 environment and are having issues with users wishing to configure their Outlook client's offsite. These laptops are not part of our domain and they have VPN connectivity and access to our office.
In the past I've worked for organizations where I could establish a VPN connection and then add an Outlook profile by specifying the Exchange server name, typing the user's first and last name (or email) and then clicking on check name. This used to
resolve the FQDN of the exchange server and then successfully add the mailbox.
One thing that I do notice is that when we setup these clients and they are part of the domain it adds properly but the server name looks like the following [email protected]
Is there something wrong with the configuration of our Outlook Anywhere?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Willia
I think that would depend on how you're connecting to Exchange. If your Exchange is in theory setup for you to connect to it directly over the internet then it would at least explain your inability to use autodiscover, but you mention having to use a VPN
to connect to it so I'm not sure that's relevant.
Lack of autodiscover or incorrect SSL settings won't prevent you from manually entering details to connect to exchange, you just won't be able to do it without entering the server details and you'll be prompted to confirm the ssl issue.
If the SSL comment in the original post isn't relevant in this case, and you're actually using Outlook Anywhere, then while not perhaps absolutely required it's certainly something you'll want to resolve.
When you try to connect to Exchange, if you try pinging the server name that you're using does it resolve? If not then that's likely the main issue. In an Outlook Anywhere setup then you may need to setup proxy settings to allow Outlook to connect to the
relevant external connection to then reach the Exchange server. When setting up the account, before clicking Check Name or Next go to More Settings, then select the Connection tab. Select the Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP checkbox and then click
Exchange Proxy Settings. Within the proxy settings window you can then setup the relevant http settings to point Outlook at the external interface of your Outlook Anywhere connection, which basically allows Outlook to connect to that, from where it can then
resolve the Exchange server name.

Outlook 2011 for Mac not authenticating with Exchange 2010
Hi,
We have an issue with our Mac Clients authenticating with our Exchange Server. We have Exchange 2010 Version 14.03.0174.001.
Outlook is saying the credentials are incorrect for the user when we know they work fine in OWA and in Outlook 2010.
It seems this is since we re-keyed are SSL certificate. I have changed the EWS directory to Basic Authentication and also re-created the EWS directory. I have also re-ran all the SBS Wizards.
Is there anything else we can do to get this sorted?
ThanksHi Robert,

I like to Configure Acrobat 8 for the Document Center.
In my Acrobat 8 pro swedish version I cannot find the the drop-down-text
"Choose Advanced > Security > Use Adobe Online Services. " taken into account the "language diffrences".
So I download a trial Acrobat 9 pro english version.
And again I cannot do the "Choose Advanced > Security > Use Adobe Online Services. " exercise, this time no langauage consideration.
So Do I need Acrobat pro version 8 english.
Or even betyter do you have a metaframe client I can use for the small test. I get tired of thinking about remove the clent and download another.
regards AndersI post the solution my self.
I have asked the excellent provider Web Case Support [mailto:[email protected]] to write the anwer here. But as they don't have yet:
This solution works fine in ver 8 and 9 that are the only one I have tested.
1. Launch Acrobat and go to Advanced> Security Settings.
2. Click Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management Servers.
3. Click the New option, up top.
4. Enter this information as it appears: Name: Create Adobe PDF Online Server Name: pdf-policy.adobe.com Port: 443
5. Click Connect to this server and Log in with your Document Center ID and password.
To apply polices to PDF files follow the direction below:
1. Open the PDF in Acrobat 8.
2. Choose Advanced > Security > Manage Security Policies.
3. In the dialog box list of policies, select the policy that you want to apply.
4. Click Apply To Document.
5. In the Save As dialog box, click Save. The default filename includes the word Envelope, so the saved PDF doesnot overwrite the original.

Outlook Client 2011 can not synchronize contact
Hi everybody,
one of our clients isn't able to synchronize one of it's contacts. He created that contact in Outlook and now tries to synchronize it to CRM. The client is able to synchronize other entities to CRM (appointments etc.).
I did a server and client trace. On the server side there were no errors. On the client itself we got the following:

Maybe someone has a suggestion what we can do to get it working ?
Thanks in advance
ChrisSo we did some testing this morning. And it was a bit strange because we found contacts which are "synchronized"/tracked (Outlook told it) , but the contacts do not exist in CRM. It seems that there is something wrong with the whole synchronization
for that one client.
Is there a FAQ to troubleshoot such problems ? -
Dear all,
I would like to change the default country code for new Outlook 2013 contacts. My country is Mozambique (+258) and is not listed under Control Panel> Region> Formats> Format:
Is there any place (registry maybe, anywhere) where I can manipulate the existing formats or manually add a new format to the List ??? - for example Portuguese (Mozambique).
I am using Windows 8.1
I have tried changing the country on the phone and modem options and nothing changes. Also changing the Home Location on Region> Location to Mozambique didn't change a thing. The only place where I change something and produces results is the
Format List.
Any ideias???? If not, is there a place where I can ask Microsoft to include Portuguese (Mozambique) on future windows updates???
Kind regards,
OsvaldoHi,
Windows uses the information set under
'Phone and Modem' in the Control Panel to determine the default area code.
You can change the country/region to
Mozambique
and set your area code here:

Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac Not Working
I recently purchased Office 2011 for Mac. I work at home on my Mac at work on Windows 7. I also have a work laptop, running Windows 7, that comes home with me. My goal is to RDC my Mac to the laptop running Windows 7 to reduce desktop clutter, and easily work between machines.
I CAN NOT FIGURE OUT how to get Microsoft RDC:mac to connect to my pc.
I know that the pc allows remote desktop connections because I often use RDC at work from PC to PC.
SOME PLEASE HELP! I have spent hours and hours trying to figure this out and I think it is the time capsule that is causing the problem.
My research has found that I have to use port 3389 to get this done. I am pretty computer savy but when it comes to networking I guess I have no clue. I have tried just about everything a and can't figure it out.
Thanks to anyone that can dedicate some time to configureing my time capsule to allow for RDC.I cannot quite put together your whole network..
I work at home on my Mac at work on Windows 7. I also have a work laptop, running Windows 7, that comes home with me. My goal is to RDC my Mac to the laptop running Windows 7 to reduce desktop clutter, and easily work between machines.
So this is in local lan.. the PC laptop running win7 and the Mac loaded with RDC software. If this is local lan then the issue is nothing to do with TC.
That is only if you are trying to connect from work. to home through the router at work and TC at home. On local lan there is no blocking to ports. Are you using the local network IP of the PC Laptop?
Explain a bit further as it needs a bit more clarification. -

ServerName : EXCH-HTCA13
SSLOffloading : False
ExternalHostname : webmail.first.pt
InternalHostname : exch-htca13.first.pt
ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Basic
InternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Ntlm
IISAuthenticationMethods : {Basic, Ntlm, Negotiate}
XropUrl :
ExternalClientsRequireSsl : True
InternalClientsRequireSsl : True
Can anyone help me identify the problem?Hi,
Agree with Andy, you can change the ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod to NTLM,
In addition, I recommend you refer to the following article:

DNS caching problem when configuring Windows clients for SCAN
I have a Windows 2008 R2 server running apps that connect to a RAC cluster database using the SCAN address. The SCAN address however always returns the same IP when you ping it from that server. If I flush the DNS cache I get a different address, but again the same one all the time. I believe this is caused by the fact that DNS caching is enabled on Windows by default. This has caused problems when one of the RAC nodes goes south and the cached SCAN IP is not responding. The applications lose their connections, try to reconnect, but can't because they keep using the same dead SCAN IP.
I suggested we disable the DNS Client service on those machines so that the SCAN name correctly cycles through the addresses but the Windows admin says not to do this. Is there a documented practice somewhere that this is OK to do for Windows RAC clients? Or is there a way to disable caching just on the SCAN name but leave it enabled from every other host name?
TIAWhat happened was the SCAN VIP did not fail over. The node VIP did not fail over. The database instance was running but I could not connect to it even locally as sysdba. I got the message "protocol adapter error". This normally only occurs on Windows for local connections when either (a) the Oracle service is not running, or (b) you didn't set the ORACLE_SID variable correctly. Neither was true.
I tried "crsctl stop crs" but it could not stop the listeners.
I rebooted the server. During the reboot, neither the VIP no SCAN VIPs failed over. It's almost as if CRS either didnt recognize tat the other node had been shutdown, or it didn't care.
I have never seen this happen before.
For the record this is Oracle RAC 11.2.0.1. -
Configure Outlook 2010 for OWA

Configure Outlook Anywhere with 2 Accepted Domains?
Hello everybody,
I want to configure outlook anywhere for exchange organization, I have 2 accepted domains: domain1.com and domain2.com, can you guide me the best practice procedure to enable it? How many certificates? What are the SANs sghould be included in the certificate?
And how to publish it?
Thanks
Regardshi Anas...ok to start with ..the way i do this is mentioned in below points. Please check.
1. configure the second domain in my AD (domains and trust) for users to login with their respective domain instead of all login to OWA or outlook anywhere from the parent domain
2. configure internal DNS
3. configure accepted domains
4. external DNS - public MX and A records
5. SSL would need autodiscover for sure.. and if you want to protect other domain-2 then i would do it in below manner.
autodiscover.domain1.com
mail.domain1.com
mail.domain2.com (for both domains to have their own OWA or ECP)
Let me know if this helps. where you want to publish.. firewall or CAS...?? CAS would be easy for firewall let me know which firewall.
****EDITED as per ED and MAS comments.. :) thanks guys

Exch 2010 Out of Office issue - Outlook Client Only
OOF works in OWA, and it also works in Outlook 2011 on our Apple clients. It does not however, work in Outlook 2007 and 2010.
I've done quite a bit of troubleshooting on this issue already. All IIS permissions are correct, there are no IE proxies interfering, autodiscover is setup correctly and working as intended. (Initially, it was not and I assumed this was the issue. Now it
is and the issue continues. Confirmed both by https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com & Test E-mail AutoConfiguration on our outlook clients)
I'm not sure what else I can do and I'm having trouble finding anymore information on this subject past those issues listed above. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance! This issue was resolved, forgot all about this thread but figured I'd update it for others if they have the same issue.
The mailbox databases were not pointed to OfflineAddressBook.
We had to set all the mailbox databases to an Offline address book using following steps. After you run the below changes please run IISRESET command on the CAS server.
To associate the Offline Address Book with a particular mailbox store in Exchange 2007 or in Exchange Server 2010
Start the Exchange Management Console.
Expand Server Configuration(For me it was under Organization Configuration),
and then click Mailbox.
In the details pane, click the Database Management tab.
Under the appropriate storage group (for example,First Storage Group),
right-click Mailbox Database, and then click Properties.
Click the Client Settings tab, and then clickBrowse next
to Offline address book.
Click the appropriate offline address book, and then click OK two
times.
Offline address book is not associated with a particular mailbox store
Hope this helps! -
Outlook Client Can't Send Mail through Leopard Mail
One of our clients is on a Windows XP machine running Outlook. She had no trouble receiving or sending before we migrated to Leopard from Tiger 10.4.10. Now she is able to receive mail but is unable to send. We have set up other test Win XP Outlook clients and they show the same problem.
Does anyone have Outlook clients successfully sending mail via a POP account on Leopard Mail Server? If so what are the Outlook settings? Here is the system log during a test session with Outlook set to connect without ssl. Astrid, the Outlook user, connects via webmail (imap) first and then with Outlook (pop) and then with webmail again. Note there is no smtp connection to send mail. Outlook client requirements and Exchange 2010/2013 coexistence
Good morning!
A question regarding Exchange 2010/2013 coexistence and the Outlook client requirement. I am upgrading and about to install Exhange 2013 into an existing Exchange 2010 Org. The current 2010 Org is patched to SP-3 and Outlook Anywhere is currently disabled.
I have Outlook clients that do not yet meet the minimun requirements for 2013 (Outlook 2007/2010). When I install my first 2013 server will it effect the current downlevel clients? The mailboxes are still in 2010 so my thoughts were since the Office upgrade
including Outlook has not yet taken place I didn't want to wait for them to at least get 2013 into the Org. The 2013 server should effect the clients until I configure the CAS on 2013 and only when they are at the proper version, is this correct? Does Outlook
Anywhere need to be first enabled and configured on the 2010 CAS before I attempt the confgiuration on the 2013 CAS? I just dont want to install 2013 and have Outlook connectivity issues right out of the gate...
Thanks in advance!Outlook 2007 and 2010 are supported for Exchange 2013, you just need to push out the latest patches.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719(v=exchg.150).aspx
If you configure the URLs properly in Exchange 2013 to URLs that point to the Exchange 2010 servers, your clients shouldn't try to talk to the Exchange 2013 server.
