Configure To Order & Make To Order differences

Hello! gurus,
Please can anyone explain me the differences between CTO & MTO. And the mandatory fields to be entered.
thank you

Hi,
In make to order scenario you can use strategy group 20 in the mrp 3 view of the material master. So when a sale order is created the requirement is displayed in Md04 transaction. Then after mrp run you will get planned orders & this is processed further into prod. orders & confirm, GR takes place.
In configure to order, you can use strategy group 25. You have to create characteristics, class,Super BOM,Obj. dependencies etc. So when you create a sale order for Eg: For a configurable product Car, you can have options as the Engine 1000cc,1500cc,2000cc etc, Colour as Blue,Black etc.So during the sale order creation you select the available options & then based on this selection the appropriate material from the BOM is chosen for further processing.

  • How to identify difference between Configure To Order (CTO) and Engineer To Order (ETO) items

    Hi All,
We are working on Oracle Database 10g
We have to develop a code which involves Configure To Order (CTO) and Engineer To Order (ETO) items.
Can anyone advise is there any table and the corresponding column in the database which will help identify if an item is a CTO or ETO.

    Dear Expert,
Is it possible to configure purchase order screen so that Supply Chain Planners (who create purchase orders) cannot amend the Pricing Conditions view and Net Price field?   Sceen dump attached.   However we want Purchasing Managers (who manage pricing conditions in the inforecords) to be able to change pricing conditions in the Purchase Order if required.
Please guide me step by step if there's a way.

There is no standard technique for this. You can try the following method:
Create an enhancement (at the end) in the FM PRICING_SUBSCREEN_SET_DATA
The code can check various parameters like authorization or read a custom table to determine if the conditions need to be read-only.
Set the variable trtyp_i = 'A' to make it read-only.
Please make sure to check the COMM_HEAD_I-BSTYP = 'F' (for purchase orders) and 'L' (for scheduling agreements); else it may have undesirable effects, since the FM is called from SD as well.

  • Configure-to-order with propagation

    Hi ,
Can some buddy explain the scenario  u201Cconfigure-to-order with propagationu201D with some example......?
    regards

    Hi SCM APO,
i am pasting text in 3 parts whichs from SAP help copied from one of the Book, go through it and frame you question in specific way.
Configure-to-order with propagation is a very common scenario for the
mill industries. This scenario is again a make-to-order scenario, though
sometimes without the use of a make-to-stock requirements class. The peculiarity
in this process is that assembly groups and key components (steel
coils, paper reels, ...) have batch characteristics which are important for
planning. Since the mill industries have a divergent material flow, many
different finished products will have dependent demands for the key components.
These dependent demands might have different requirements for
the characteristic values of the batches. Additionally these key components
have usually a comparatively long lead time. One main objective in this
scenario is therefore usually to check whether the right amount of the key
component with the required properties is available. These properties are
    recorded as the batch valuation.
    Hope it helps you.

  • About the variance of production order difference.

    hi all
now i am practicing producting. i have closed the production order by technocially completed.and the variance  (difference between standard cost and actual cost) will be settled to production order difference account through our customization.
when we are doing the delivery and billing, it is taking the standard price. but that variance is cost of this Finished product, but it is not including when we are doing delivery and billing. the variance is shows in P&L debit as a expenses.
When the SD people defien the sales price in "PR00", do they consider this variance also?
please let me know about this. can u give me the complete details.

    Hi
I suspect based on the price control 'S' maintained for FG, the billing would happen at this standard price. Any variance in production would be settled to a separate variance account and would be available for analysis, based on which you could alter the standard price for the following period

  • Use of field "Open Item management" in Configuration of order types?

    Hi All,
Can any body explain me the use of BOX for selectind or de-selecting "Open item management" field for order type in "Configuration of order types"?
I need to understand the use of selecting it and not selecting it?

it will activate the commitment management for your order type.
    From SAP help:
" Commitments are contractual or MRP-relevant obligations that are not entered in accounting but that lead to actual costs as a    result of various business transactions,   for example for purchase orders.
Commitments Management is used to enter these obligations at an early stage and to analyze their cost- and finance-related results. "

  • Configured to Order Costing configuration

    Hi,
I am looking to configure costing for Configured to Order. Can it be handled the say way as a regular production order with respect to costing variant and month end closing. Or, should this be configured under Product Cost by Sales Order.
Would appreciate if you could let me know about results analysis key, price update and things I need to take care here relative to regular production order.
    Thank you,

  • Configurated sales orders and block planning

    Hello
We plan to implement ECC configurated sales orders and APo DP and block planning.
We is the preferable process :
    - create the production orders in ECC at time of sales orders creation and run heuristics in apo to cover forecast with planned orders
    - send sales orders in Apo run heuristic and convert planned orders to production orders to cover sales orders?
thanks in advance for your help
    Patrice

    Hi Patrice,
The second process that you have mentioned,
send sales orders in Apo run heuristic and convert planned orders to production orders to cover sales orders?
is the effective and business advantageous process in which you can get optimised plan output planned through APO.

  • Preventing Item On Hand reservation in a configure to order environment for multi org same OU environment

I have a scenario in a configure to order environment where I want to automatically creating flow schedules based on sales order demand. I have two orgs in same OU.
    1. How to setup sales order line to generate flow schedules in the manufacturing org and then ship the finished goods from the shipping org. I believe this can be done from sourcing rules to populate Warehouse field in sales order line with the shipping org and create Flow schedule in another manufacturing org. Please advise ?
    2. Once flow schedule is completed I want to prevent the reservation of Finished good on hand against Sales order so that the On hand could be transferred to shipping org and shipped. Please advise ?
    Thanks for your inputs.

  • How to Configure Sample Order

Can any one tell me configuration steps for configuring sample order type in sap Sd
    anand

    Dear Anand Vishwanathan
In VOV8 you can use order type FD with SD document category I and the item category is KLN
Or you can follow this also
Have a separate order type copying from standard order
Have a separate document pricing procedure for that order type
In item category determination assign TANN for that doc type for any combination of item category group, usage and item category of higher level item
Have a pricing procedure which has only condition type R100 with requirement 55 and alt base value 28 and assign it to your sales area CPP and this DPP
Now whenever you put any order for this doc only the R100 condition type will be applied and it will give 100% discount because your item category is TANN
I have worked on this and able to save this order with zero value aqnd this order type can be treated as sample order type
Please avoid posting the same thread in multiple forums

  • Kindly explain the step by step procedure for configuring sales order stock

    Hi friends,
can anybody explain the step by step procedure for configuring sales order stock.
Stock that is used for a sales order. It is directly allocated to a sales order. Components can only be used to produce material ordered by the customer and the finished product can only be delivered to the customer via the sales order.
You can manage valuated or non-valuated sales order stock.
If the sales order stock is not valuated, it is managed via a cost collector. The system does not carry out invoice verification postings for goods movements, and you cannot obtain an overview of how the stock is valuated until the end of the settlement period in Controlling.
If the sales order stock is valuated, you have immediate access to its value in Financial Accounting. The assigned accounts are debited and credited as a result of the valuated goods movements.
but i am not clear of how to map it into sap.kindly explain it step by step.

  • How will i configure return order

how will i configure return order.....

    Hello,
There is no need to configure a return order. It is already exesting in standard SAP ystem.
First you create a return order VA01 (Ord type RE) with reference to the invoice. Create a retrun delivery with reference to the return order (VL01N), do the post goods reciept, and raise a credit memo request (VA01) and followed by credit  memo (VF01).

  • How to configure Sales order item text copy to Purchase requisition item

    Hi,
How to configure sales order item text copy to Purchase requisition text then copy to PO item text.
    Regards
    Jack

    Hi Rajesha,
Thanks for your reply, some of the items in sales order are procured externally by us and our customer maintains text related to price and specification in the item details of the sales order, MRP creates planned order for these materials and these planned orders are always converted in pur requisition, we want that text from the sales order item details should be copied in to the purchase requisitions converted from planned orders.
is there any user exit which can be called at the time of saving a purchase req or user exit for converting planned order in to pur req.?
if there is any such exit available, then I think I can read the pegged requirement of the planned order where sales order item will be found then read the text in the item then copy this text in pur req then save pur req may work.
but this will be a bulky development, please let me know if we can shorten the development.
    Thanks again

  • Configure-to-Order (CTO) Production with Variant Configuration and Assembly

We are trying to create a Configure-to-Order (CTO) Production with Variant Configuration and Assembly Processing.
I have set up the required master data for variant configuration which is working fine in a sales order. I have used startegy group 82 in the MRP view of the material master for Finished goods/header material. A production order with BOM explosion is getting generated automatically during the creation of the sales order.I have stock of components available. Uploaded using 561 movement type (unrestricted stock). The requirement class that is being determined is 201.
    ISSUE:
Availability check of the components in the production order that is getting automatically generated during sales order creation is failing. The components are not getting confirmed inspite of initialising the stock of the components in the plant we are using.
I am looking for pointers on the important settings related to the availability check in Configure to Order scenario that have to checked to resolve this issue.
    TIA

    Hi,
Availability check controls for Production order will be done in OPJK for plant , order type combination. Based on the settings either for creation or release system will carry Availability check of components. you can set the controls such that release can be possible even if parts are missing.
If you have settings to restrict the release if components are missing and there is stock in unrestricted, then you need to transfer the stock to the sales order using MB1B and 413 movement type so that system can recognize the availability and allow the release of order.
Based on your requiremnts you can map the settings in OPJK
    Hope this will help

  • Configurator in order management

    Hi guys,
I need to write a report which shows the configuration exactly as it shows in configurator in order management. I figure out although its using BOM explosion to explode the model it uses some rules so whats in BOM is different than what shows up in configurator. Can anyone tell me tales in CZ schema which can help me in writing the report. I have been looking on metalink but no luck.
    Thanks guys!!

    Chintu --
The way I'm reading your question, you're asking how to query the Configurator schema for the sub-Lines that are passed to Order Management after a configuration is saved. If I am not interpreting your question correctly, please provide further clarification. If I am interpreting it correctly, then....
After a configuration is saved, the top-level Order Line record in ONT.OE_ORDER_LINES_ALL has its CONFIG_HEADER_ID and CONFIG_REV_NBR fields populated. These are the primary keys to access the corresponding saved configuration data in Configurator's "Saved Configuration" subschema (that is, the tables beginning with CZ_CONFIG_...). The CZ.CZ_CONFIG_ITEMS table holds the items that were saved and passed through to the Order sub-Lines. (Other data is saved there as well, so you may want to check the documentation for CZ.CZ_CONFIG_ITEMS in the Electronic Technical Reference Manual at http://etrm.oracle.com/ to help determine how to differentiate the BOM Items from the other data.)
When the CTO Create Configuration program is run after Order booking, the *BOM is created, which, in addition to the Items in the saved configuration, will include all of the Required Components specified in the Model BOM (what I assume you're referring to as "BOM explosion").  Since Configurator is only aware of Optional Components (and their ancestors), the Required Components do not appear in the saved configuration data.  If you need to report on those as well, you will need to employ some different mechanism.
    Hope this helps.
