Configuring a batch job

Hi,
Our requirement is to configure a batch job that operates at scheduled intervals. For which through the portal under the path( sys admin > sys config> km on left side navigation--> content mgmt under that --> global services under that on the centre screen --> scheduler service) we have recognised a scheduler service which is global, now can we use the scheduler api and write a method to define a job upload it at the portal path given above and configure it to a schedule and save the changes. Would this work? Please let me now. Swetha

yes, that is possible as well as documented: See Did you know you can schedule jobs in portal using KM's Scheduler Task? and maybe also new Scheduler Task for some trouble shooting when creating the project elements within NWDS.

I am working in an AD migration project (Migration from old legacy AD domains to single AD domain) and in the transition phase. Our infrastructure contains lots
of Users, Servers and Workstations. Authentication is being done through AD only. Many UNIX and LINUX based box are being authenticated through AD bridge to AD.
We have lot of applications in our environment. Many applications are configured to use Managed Service Accounts. Many Workstations and servers are running batch
jobs with AD user credentials. Many applications are using AD user accounts to carry out their processes.
We need to find out all those AD Users, which are configured as MSA, Which are configured for batch jobs and which are being used for different applications on
our network (Need to find out for every machine on network).
These identified AD Users will be migrated to the new Domain with top priority. I get stuck with this requirement and your support will be deeply appreciated.
I hope a well designed PS script can achieve this.

Thank you for your valuable reply. It is really a great notion to enable account logon audit and collect those events for the analysis. But you know it is also a tedious job when thousand of Users come in to picture. You can imagine how complex it will be
for this analysis, where more than 200000 users getting logged in through AD. It is the fact that when a batch / MS or an application uses a Domain Users credential with successful process, automatically a successful logon event will be triggered in associated
DC. But there are also too many users which are not part of these accounts like MSA/Batch jobs or not linked to any application. In that case we have to get through unwanted events.
Recently jrv, provided me a beautiful script to find out all MSA from a machine or from a list of machines in an AD environment. (Covers MSA part.)

So I think, can a PS script be designed to get the report of all running applications which use domain accounts for their authentication to carry out their process. So from that result we can filter out the AD accounts being used for those
applications. After that these three individual modules can be compacted in to a single script to provide the desired output as per the requirement in a single report.

How to find out batch job failure and taking action:

Normally We will monitor the batch jobs through transaction code sm37 for job monitoring. In SM37 we will give a batch job name date and time as input. In the first step we will check the batch job for the reason failure or check the spool request for the batch job for failures an help in analyzing the error
I understand from the my experience is that the batch may fail due to below reasons.
1.,Data issues : ex: Invalid character in quantity (Meins) field >>>> We will correct the corresponding document with correct value or we will manually run or request the team to rerun the batch job by excluding the problematic documents from the batch job variant so that it may process other documents.
2.Configuration issues : Materials XXXX is not extended for Plant >>>> we will contact the material master team or business to correct the data or we will raise sub contract call with support team to correct he data. Once the data been corrected and will request the team to rerun the batch job.
3.Performance issues : Volume of the data being processed by the batch job ,network problems.>>>Normally these kind of issues we will encounter during the month end process as there will lot of accounting transactions or documents being posted business hence it may cause the batch job failure as there is enough memory to complete the program or select queries in the program will timeout because of volume of the records.
4.Network issues. : Temporary connectivity issues in other partner systems :Outage in other partner systems like APO or other system like GTS will cause the batch job failure as Batch job not in position to connect other system to get the inforamtion and proceed for further steps.Nornmally we will check RFC destination status by running a custom program weather connectivity between system are in progress or not. then intimate other partner system for the further actions, Once the partner system comes online then we will intimate the team to restart or manually submit batch job.
Some times we will create a manual job by transaction code SM36.

I'm not sure what the question is among all that but if you want to check on jobs that are viewable via SM37 and started via SM36. The tables are TBTCP -Background Job Step Overview and TBTCO - Job Status Overview Table.
You can use the following FM to get job details:
GET_JOB_RUNTIME_INFO - Reading Background Job Runtime Data

Error starting batch job through Data Services Web Service

I have a customer running our web service interface to BODS. We have not been able to successfully start any jobs due to the following error:
Services sent the request to start batch job 'Job_Test_Web_Services' on server 'null'. The Job Server refused the request with error: Job Server not found
The same interface works against other environments (all XI 3.1), so I need some pointers as to where it gets the server name. Sounds to me like a configuration issue, but I am not a BO DS admin and don't know where to look.

I was able to reproduce this issue in our own lab by going to the BO DS Server Manager and removing the servers from the configuration. Not sure if this is what is happening at this customer site, but I will check it out and post back.
Not sure why they would not have a Job Server defined if they want to run jobs!

How to create a batch job in IW41

Dear all,
I would like to create a print program batch job on the following scenario with the use of RSNAST00.
We have created an output type in which when it is triggered by backflush (i.e. GI-261) via IW41 transaction, a PO will be created automatically in the background from this output type.
Now for testing purpose, we would like to use to use program RSNAST00 to schedule the creation or triggering of this output.
May I know how to do this?
I know in VF04, I can click the variant,HOWEVER in IW41, the menu does not allow variant creation?
Without variant creation, I cannot go to SM36 to create a batch job.

ACH RUN F110 THROUGH BATCH JOB

Hello,
Is there a way, we can run the ACH Incoming Payment (Customers) through a scheduled batch job for the TCode F110?
I've configured the Incoming and Outgoing Payments successfully and I've been struggling with automating the Payment Run for the Incoming Payment(Customers). We're planning to keep running the Payable (Vendors) manually through F110.

Daily invoicing batch-job

A daily invoicing batch-job is needed which collects all the orders or deliveries due to bill. This job must include third party business (vendors invoice is the delivery confirmation). Printout of the invoices is also started by this job.

Goto SE38, for the program SDBILLDL create a Variant, which would include the Billing type and the Sales Org. details. Choose, both Order & Delivery related Billing opitons and save the variant.
Now create a batch job thru SM36 t.code for this program and schedule a time. This process is self explanatory.Once you do this, a daily job would be scheduled to run a t a particular time.
Now to Print out the Inovices, we can do this using a Output type. Configure a Output determination procedure to achieve this. Once the outputs are processed they can be printed on a printer assigned.

Hi experts ,
i want to know the name of Batch job for IDOC processing in 64 status.
I have configured the partner profiles as 'process immediatly'.
So with this configuration whenever an idoc comes in production it gets processed immediatly and automatically.
i want to know how they are getting processed automatically.
is there any job which looks for these idocs(in 64 status and process immediatly flag) and process it.
What is the trigger for thiese idocs processing???

I'm using a customized abap program to update data in one of the Controlling table. This abap prg is scheduled background to run twice daily.
This program will generates batch job in sm35 and i have to manually process it so that the data in CO table will be updated.
Could anybody tell me where should i configure so that the batch job in sm35 process automatically instead of process it manually.a

Printing to the wrong Printer from the Batch Job

Hi,
Morning every one!
I am facing a problem with Print which is coming from Batch Job. The Batch job contains 10 steps. Previously all steps out put has configured to one printer. Recently I changed one step out put to the another printer with the request. But the print is going to the old printer still.
When I am checking at the batch job -> Steps -> Specific step ->Print Specifications -> Output Device .. able to see New Printer.
But batch job -> Steps-> Select Specific step -> Spool -> Doble click .. There spool is going to the old printer. I am facing this problem for only one step.
The issue is dragging from past one week.. I tried couple of options..No luck
I appreciate any inputs/Solution for this.

I got the solution finally from ABAP team. The printer is maintained in the Condition records of the Variant for the particular step. Even though I assigned the printer in Batch job..It is taking the printer from Condition record.

Hi,
A simple way to achieve this is set the background processes parameter to ZERO.
rdisp/wp_no_btc = 0
By default Background Processing is inactive, we activate it during the Post install configuration.

All the concepts are not very clear to me yet, and it lacks a complete documentation (I understand it is still new/under development).
Where do I upload the azure batch program?

If I understand correctly you want to try to only use Batch to run both the web crawling jobs and tasks as well as the client code that creates the jobs and tasks.
I'm pretty sure you can do what you want using Batch. I'll give you the high-level concepts here and some documentation pointers, then hopefully you can find the low-level info in the docs.
To host the client code you should use a Job Manager which is specified when creating a Work Item. The Job Manager is a special task that is run first when a job is created.
To have a job created and run every two hours you need to specify a schedule with the Work Item. A recurrence interval can be specified so a job is created every 2 hours.
To only create the VM's when needed then you should specify an Auto-Pool when creating your Work Item. You will need at least two VM's - one to run the Job Manager task and at least one to run the crawler tasks. Pool lifetime configuration can
be specified so that the pool lifetime is tied to each job that is created every 2 hours - the pool is created when the job is created and the pool is deleted when the job completes.

Application batch job running got error ORA-03113

Problem: when application batch job running, application system always receive this error: ORA-03113 and job stop.
Application system: dynamic system AX
ORACLE system: ORACLE 10.2.0.4.0
The listener configuration setting is :
INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT_LISTENER = 0
SUBSCRIBE_FOR_NODE_DOWN_EVENT_LISTENER = OFF
Whether this is the problem of listener setting? "INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT_LISTENER = 0" indicate 0 seconds or no limit?

I only find the error message in the Client server (application server).
below is some example of it.

but when I use PL/SQL Developer to run the scripts. there is no problem.
And we always met errors when application team run long time batch, about 20 - 30 minutes or even longer.
When they run 5 or 10 minutes job, there is no error occur.
