Configuring Crystal Reports Server to use https

Post Author: singhal
CA Forum: General
Hello,
I have  crystal reports server.  But everytime I run a report with htmlviewerbridge, it connects to http://hostname:8080
is there anyway of changing the settings so that it connects to https://hostname:8080 or whatever port is necessary for a https connection?
thanks,

One of the messages -"The system xxxx can be contacted, but there is no Central Management Server running at port 6400.  (did check the configuration and port number 6400 was there
another message: Failed to register with the CMS xxxx. Please make sure the CMIS is up and running. Attempting an automatic retry..
another message was "Failed to recreate the database. Reason: Internal error: An unknown exception has occurred."
I choose MYSQL in the setup (because I do not have MS SQL server running on this box)
I want to do a clean uninstall (which I don't think happened,I did it, but some old users seemed to still be there so besides add/remove programs is there more we should physically delete?)
Thank you, for your help and I did contact support and this is part of what they said:  (2 times)

  • Configuring the application server to use HTTP proxy server

    Hi,
I am trying to configure LiveCycle ES2 to access services over the internet and since my Livecycle server connects to internet through a Proxy server, I have referred to section 5.8.2 of LiveCycle install_weblogic.pdf that states the following:
If the computer that LiveCycle ES2 is running on uses proxy settings to access external web sites, the
application server should be started with the following values set as Java virtual machine (JVM)
    arguments:
      -Dhttp.proxyHost= [server host]
    -Dhttp.proxyPort= [server port]
However, I am getting the below exception while running the LC application as my Proxy server requires User credentials to connect to the internet:
weblogic.net.http.HttpUnauthorizedException: Proxy or Server Authentication Required.
I tried providing the below JVM startup argument too, but no luck:
    -Dhttp.proxyUser= [proxy user]
    -DhttpPassword= [Proxy password]
Can you please suggest how to configure User credentials for the Proxy server in Livecycle.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi WASIL,
    Thank you for your response.
I have followed the above document suggested by yourself and the relevant steps while setting up the Server and the Workbench, and verified the settings too.
The installation guide does highlight the steps to configure a Proxy server. However, the guide does not mention anything about how to handle Proxy server authentication.
Please note that there are Proxy authenication options available in Workbench to configure how the Workbench connects to the LiveCycle server, whereas the problem I am facing here is how to connect the LiveCycle server with internet services through a Proxy server.
I hope that clears the problem statement.
    Thankyou for your assistance.

  • Crystal Report server 11

    Hi All,
I have just installed the crystal report server 11 on our dev server (win 2003).
We needed to evaluate this product, as we would be having atleast 15 concurrent users accessing reports.
Now will the reports which are created in Vs.net2005 ( asp.net 2) just work without any other configuration on the report server or i have to configure the crystal report server to use that website?
All the reports currently reside in the asp.net web application directory.
the same server is used as a webserver & reports server.
    Any guideline would be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Routeme

    Ajit,
By design, the product is not able to be installed under the superuser account.
    1.  Create a new user and specify a home directory for the user without a quota set.
    2.  Copy or move the installation files to a directory that the new user can read.  I suggest you move the installation files directly into the new user's home directory.
    3.  Logon as the new user (or su - newuser)
    4.  run the installation shell script using that new user's account.
NOTE:  Ensure the system meets the requirements from the supported platforms documents.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 - RAS API ReportAppSession.initialize() fail

    Hi,
We have a servlet (running on Websphere 6.1 container) trying to connect to Crystal Reports Server 2008 using RAS Java API to open unmanaged reports.
It fails at the very beginning of ReportAppSession.initialize() with error message:
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKServerException: Unable to connect to the server: HQ-ROSIE03. - Connection refused: connect-- Error code:-2147217387 Error code name:connectServer
HQ-ROSIE03 is the server name hosting CRS 2008. I try to pass in either HQ-ROSIE03 or HQ-ROSIE03:1566 to setReportAppServer(), but no help.
On CRS2008, I checked from Central Management Console that all servers are up and running. I also add "-ipport 1566" to the commandline of ReportApplicationServer from CMC. It does not help either.
Would you please tell me what might cause the problem based on the error code and message? Thank you.
    Here is the code.
            try
              ReportAppSession reportAppSession = new ReportAppSession();
              reportAppSession.createService(
              "com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument");
//HQ-ROSIE03 is the server name that hosts Crystal Reports Server 2008.
//I tried to pass in the port number, i.e "HQ-ROSIE03:1566". But it got the same exception.
              reportAppSession.setReportAppServer("HQ-ROSIE03");
// This is where the exception is thrown.
              reportAppSession.initialize();
              ReportClientDocument lo_ReportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
              lo_ReportClientDoc.setReportAppServer(reportAppSession.getReportAppServer());
              lo_ReportClientDoc.open(asReportName,OpenReportOptions._openAsReadOnly);
              ReportServerControl control = new ReportServerControl();
              control.setReportSource(lo_ReportClientDoc.getReportSource());
            catch(Exception exc)
                System.out.println( exc);
Edited by: Lijing Lin on Mar 27, 2009 12:39 AM

There is a typo when adding -ipport 1566 to the RAS server command from CMC.
    It is now resolved.

  • How to print a report on crystal report server using webservice call

    Hi,
I'm looking for web service api calls that help print a report on the crystal report server. Can someone post a snippet of how this is done.

  • Migrating all configuration  from Crystal Reports Server XI R2 to Crystal Server 2013

    Hi,
We're running an old Crystal Reports Server XI R2 SP version (boe 11.5)  and we're planning to start using Crystal Server 2013
As far as I know no upgrade is possible and that's not needed either.
Instead I'm interested in the migrate possibilities. I saw this thread but it doesn't answer all the questions https://scn.sap.com/thread/3462417
So first I will install Crystal Server 2013 on a new server and then I use some migrate tool.
    Questions:
    - does the migrate tool support migrating from my version CR server XI R2 SP1  to  Crystal Server 2013 ?
    - does the migrate tool copy all report schduling information (recurring schedule, destination etc)? We have ~1000 scheduled reports so doing manually is not an option
    - does the migrate tool copy Business views/Business view connections ?
(- odbc data sources are probably not copied but that's ok)
    -Mikael

    Hi Mikael,
Since you're already on CR Server XI R2, you can use the Upgrade Management Tool to migrate all the content to CR Server 2013.
    Anwers to your questions:
    1) Yes, the Upgrade Management Tool does support this kind of migration
    2) It does seem that the UMT allows you to move all report instances as well as the scheduled jobs over to the new server
    3) I've always had issues with Business Views when using Import Wizard however I'm not sure whether they work well with the new UMT. In any case, I always prefer to export the LOVs and BVs from within the Business View Manager to a .xml file and then import them in the higher version of the Server, again, from within the Business View Manager.

  • Crystal Report Server: Cannot save Database Configuration in CMC

I already posted this question as SAP internal CSN message (message number 1896093 2009) but did not get any answer so far.
I have installed a test version (which I'd like to become permanent some
day...) of Crystal Reports Server 2008 on a local machine to be able to
share Crystal reports within our department.
I created a couple of reports which I would like to get updated
regularly. The issue is here that I get a logon screen to the underlying
SQL Server as soon as a user clicks on "Refresh" when viewing a report
from InfoView. The SQL Server is running on integrated security
via SSO, which I cannot change...
To get around this issue I would like to change the default Database
Configuration of the reports. Hence I do the following:
    1) I open the Central Mangement Console
    2) I select one of my reports
    3) Rightclick on Properties
    4) On the Default tab I select Database Configuration
    5) the config is set to "Logon Screen" and I ant to change this to SSO,
    so I set this
    6) Now I click on Save
=> The setting is reverted to the old "Logon Screen" settin1g
This behavior is the same for all the reports I'm using.
Looking forward to any help, kind regards
    Wolfgang
P.S.: Ultimately this issue arises, because I cannot refresh my crystal report data in batch job mode, because the reports are reading data from an SQL server, which allows SSO-logon (integrated security) only. Thus I have to open each and every report for update manually and click on the refresh button.

    Hi Manish,
thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I'm still stuck in this matter.
Does this happen with the sample reports too? I think it will be a good approach to try this to see if your system is behaving differently for sample reports and reports published from outside
I did not really try this, but viewing and editing my reports in Crystal Reports 2008 Designer works perfectly fine. As well can the user view my reports in the InfoViewApp.
Also, does it revert to the login screen setting immediately after you click Save or does it show the setting as changed after clicking Save but, does not retain it when you come back and check the report settings again?
The data is reverted immediately after clicking "Save"
    Kind reagrds

  • How to use Crystal Report Server with Crystal Reports for Eclipse

    Hi,
is it possible to use Crystal Reports for Eclipse with the Crystal Report Server
like i can do it in Crystal Reports.
For Example open a Report file directly from the server edit and save there.
    Thanks
    Thomas

Yes, you can use the CR Server product in your Eclipse project.  However, you will need to use the RAS SDK in your project instead of the CR4E SDK.
For more information about the RAS SDK, visit the DevLibrary.

  • Install and configure Tomcat post-Crystal Reports Server implementation?

Scenario - have Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 already installed using WACS and IIS. Everything runs great.  Want to add in SAP Crystal Dashboard Design. Looking through the documentation for Dashboard Design tells me I need to:
    1. Install SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise or Crystal Reports Server.
    2. Install SAP BusinessObjects Xcelsius Enterprise 2008.
    3. Install Live Office.
    4. Install SAP BusinessObjects Web Services.
    5. Add the Live Office keycode to the Central Management Console
Made it past 3 and am hung up on 4. According to documentation for Unified Web Services, it looks like I need Tomcat  installed, but Crystal Reports Server doesn't offer an expand installation option.  There also doesn't seem to be any good documentation included with SAP Crystal Dashboard Design on installing web services - if it's required, why isn't it included and where can I find the documentation (assuming it's different than the Unified Web Services Administrator's Guide I found).
It seems odd that a customer who might want to purchase an add-on for their Crystal Reports Server implementation wouldn't be able to easily add to their product..
    1)  Can I install web services to Crystal Reports Server using just the WACS or is Tomcat required? The admin guide indicates WACS is not supported for apps that use web services, like Live Office. Is that an absolute?
    2)  If Tomcat is required, can I install and configure it for an existing Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 implementation?
    3)  If i can install Tomcat on a server with an existing Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 implementation, is there a specific guide to doing so?

    Hi Colin,
What is the exact version of BO/Crystal Enterprise.
If it is BOXI R2 then follow below mentioned steps.
To manually install the ActiveX Viewer on the client computer:
    1. Copy the ActiveXViewer.cab file from the server to the client computer, and extract its contents to a temporary folder.
    2. Move the files Crviewer.dll, Crviewer9.dll, Sviewhlp.dll, and Swebrs.dll to the System32 folder. Keep this folder visible.
    3. On the Start menu, click Run. The Run dialog box appears.
    4. In the Open box, type "regsvr32" and then drag and drop the Crviewer.dll file icon from the System32 folder onto the Run dialog box.
    5 Click OK.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the files Sviewhlp.dll, and Swebrs.dll.
You may still be prompted by the browser, choose more options and never install to avoid being prompted.  The viewer should work after that.
    Thanks,
    Purna.

  • Passing SQL to Crystal Reports Server using JAVA

    Hi all,
We are in the process of redoing our Java app and we would like to create SQL query and pass this to Crystal Reports Server to have it generate a report.
I've looked all over but still could not find any info on it.  Does anyone know how this is done or know where I can find some information on this?
I've looked at some of the examples from BO but did not find anything relating to what I need to have.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey,
    Have a look at https://boc.sdn.sap.com/node/452
There some other great webinars on the left side also.
    Hope that helps.
Else if you wanting to run some SQL before loading the report search for something along the lines of:
(But I warn you this is not the correct coding, I have just quickly cut and paste a
few bits from one of my reports but you should get the idea, hopefully,
might have to use your imagination.)

    Ted,
Thank you for your valuable information.
First, tried scheduling on Central Management Console and then with the java code.It worked fine, but here is another question for you.
On the Console, a report exists with ServerName and UserName harcoded and when trying to set ServerName and UserName from the java code, its throwing exception. Where as Password is not set on Console, am able to set password from java.
And DatabaseName is not set on Console (non editable), unable to set the same from java too. Why is it so?
So, my question is - though ServerName,DatabaseName,UserName,Password exists on the Console report, can't I override those parameters from java?
Would be greatful if you answer my question and provide me some guidance.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Controlling Access to Certain Reports When Using Crystal Reports Server

    Hi,
I was wondering exactly how security is managed when using Crystal Reports Server?  Do you assign rights to individual reports via user ids in Active Directory?  Or what exactly is used for user authentication?  Is it possible to create local accounts?  Thanks.

Usually access is controlled by permissions which are set in the CMC (BO web admin tool). You can map 3rd party groups from AD or LDAP and then assign permissions to those groups or set up security with built in enterprise groups as well. You may elect to use any combination of the above. For more complex security models there can use database and row level security built into our meta layers called business views and universes.

  • Deploying a report to the end user without using Crystal Reports Server

    Hello,
I'm using Crystal Reports Professional XI.
I finished creating a report that contains several subreports.  Now it's time for me to deploy the report to the end user so that they can start running it.  The company that I'm doing this consulting work for does not have Crystal Reports Server setup so what is the best approach to deploying this report to the end user?  For now it would just be one user using the report but down the road there could be other people within his department that are running it as well.
if you have any questions or need additional information to answer my posting just let me know.  Have a good day.
    Regards,
    Ting

    Hi Ting,
I see now.... In older versions of CR like 8.5 there was a Deployment Wizard one could use to compile the report and runtime into an executable to run on an end users PC so that user could preview and refresh the reports.
That ability stopped as of CR 8.5 or earlier, I don't recall exactly now.
Yes, if they want to be able to run your report they will need to install a copy of Crystal Reports, then just send them your RPT file, they can then set Database location to their DB Source and then preview and refresh the report as required.
Or as mentioned use a third party app to do the same or write your own. It's quite simple to do and likely one of our samples applications is all you need with a few basic changes, report source and DB log on info would need to be updated.
As for licensing, the end user must purchase a copy of Crystal Reports to be able to use your application. Third Party app's would include the licensing mostly but check with them if you go that way.
The convenient part is if the users want to write their own reports they can.
And for your sake if you want to protect your reports the next version of CR has a read only RPT file format that all the user can do is preview and refresh the report. They can not edit it in anyway.
    Thanks again
    Don

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 Repository Database

We've configured a new CRS 2008 server and have a "failed reports" report that worked in the old Crystal Enterprise 10 environment.   It would query the repository database CMS_InfoObjects table and report failed reports for the day.
With the new version of Crystal Reports Server 2008 and the new repository database, the ObjName field and others in this table are now varbinary fields.
How can we query this field like we did with the old version to get our "failed reports" report to work?
I can't really find any informatin on the structure, etc. or how to query the repository database.

Unfortunately, you can't query it directly from a report.  You have to use the query language that comes with the SDK.
I'm not sure whether CRS comes with the same Query Builder tool that comes with BusinessObjects, but if it does you can access it through a url like this: http://<server name>/AdminTools/querybuilder/ie.jsp.
To get the list of failed reports, you would run something like this query:
    Select SI_NAME, SI_ID, SI_CREATION_TIME
    from CI_INFOOBJECTS
    where SI_INSTANCE = 1
      and SI_SCHEDULE_STATUS = 3
      and SI_CREATION_TIME >= '2010/08/19,00:00:00'
Unfortunately, there is no way to automate this with the Query Builder.  You would have to manually run this query every day to get the information you're looking for.
If you can write code in Visual Studio or Java (or have someone available who can do this), this type of thing is not difficult to do in the SDK.  You could handle it a couple of ways:
    1.  Create a program that loads the information to a table in your database and then run a report in CRS that will show that data.
    2.  Create a program that loads the data into memory and runs a report off of the in-memory data.
Either type of program could be set to run under the Windows Scheduler to automatically provide the information.
