Configuring DB Console (grid manager) on the Databse 11G RAC template

Hi,
I thought the dbconsole was installed in the RAC template. I actualy have a two node setup on OVM 3.0.3 and I can't start/cofigure/deconfigure the db console !
runing a "emct start dbconsole" give a message as :
OC4J Configuration issue. /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_racnode01_ORCL not found.
Indeed, I have nothing named like this in this directory, whichever node I try.
I made some reserches, and none of the emca -confir or emca -deconfig work...
So, is the dbConsole automaticaly configured ? What am I missing ?
Thanks.

  • Grid Console and Configuration Change Console?

I have installed Grid Console 10.2.0.5, and now I'm looking at the Configuration Change Console URL (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/config_control.html) wondering if I also need to install this as well.
It appears that the Grid console has all the management packs in, so maybe the Configuration Change Console is a standalone product (i.e. I only want the change management side and not all of grid control?)
Can someone clarify if I'm correct in this?
    Regards
    Stuart.

Thanks. We are just a small IT shop (only 12 databases), so Grid Console and repository are on the same server. I take it that I could also install Configuration Change Console on the same server under a different Oracle home, and use the same grid repository for the Change Configuration Console?

  • No Solaris Management Console was available on the specific server

    Hi all,
We had just finish setting up a new Solaris 10 environment. When i launch smc on the server, on selecting toolbox there's an error message:
No Solaris Management Console server was available on the specified server. Please ensure there is a Solaris Management Console server available on the specified host and that it is running.
However, upon verifying whether smc is running:
    ./init.wbem status
Solaris Management Console server version 2.1.0 running on port 898.
Not sure why this error message appeared, thanks.

    Regarding SMC (not SunMC)..
Note: SMC = Solaris Management Console
SunMC = Sun Management Center (topic of this forum)
Patch 121308-16+ makes WBEM "secure by default."
Customers running Solaris 10 6/06 or prior must modify the client's WBEM
configuration file to allow remote connections after installing patch 121308.
    1. Modify the following line in /usr/sadm/lib/smc/policy/smcserver.config:
    FROM:
    remote.connections=false
    TO:
    remote.connections=true
    2. Stop and restart wbem.
    # /etc/init.d/init.wbem stop
    # /etc/init.d/init.wbem start
    3. Verify that WBEM is now listening for connections to port 898
    on all interfaces:
    # netstat -an |grep 898
    *.898 *.* 0 0 49152 0 LISTEN
In Solaris [TM]10 update 3 (11/06), the startup mechanism for WBEM was changed
from the legacy (rc script) method to the new Service Management Facility (SMF).
To allow remote WBEM connections on Solaris 10 update 3 or later:
    # svcadm disable wbem
    # svccfg -s wbem setprop options/tcp_listen=true
    # svcadm enable wbem

  • Monitoring info not appearing in console for one of the managed server

Monitoring info not appearing in console for one of the managed server though server is running fine. It happens some times. I tried to get these info from executruntimeMBean, but that is also not returning any info for that server. The entry for that server get erased from running-managed-server.xml after some time. Any idea why?

    hi Arun,
Please find the below diagnostic module config fom the condig.xml
    <server-diagnostic-config>
    <data-retirement-enabled>true</data-retirement-enabled>
    <wldf-data-retirement-by-age>
    <name>DomainHealth_WLDFRetirePolicy_m2ap5</name>
    <enabled>true</enabled>
    <archive-name>HarvestedDataArchive</archive-name>
    <retirement-time>2</retirement-time>
    <retirement-period>6</retirement-period>
    <retirement-age>1</retirement-age>
    </wldf-data-retirement-by-age>
    </server-diagnostic-config>
This configuration was present earlier also, but it looks like the logs statrted accumulating recently due to some other changes made to console. There is nothing coming under the WLDF console extension in server admin console.
Other than changing the start script, will it be fine to go the file location ./server/data/store/diagnostics/WLSDIAGNOSTIC**.DAT and delete the older file while the server is running now?
Incase not posisible , an example on the change in startscript and the config.xml will b helpful
    thanks

  • Error when opening configuration manager in the administration workstation

    Hello,
For some reason I get this error everytime I try to  open the configuration manager on the administration workstation. The error says "(-9934) Unable to initialize the real-time feed for instance cdi. Unable to proceed until the real-time can be established.  The feed may be inactive or you may
not have permission to connect to the feed."
Does anyone have any suggestions why I get this error?
    Thank You.

Once you login to the AW you should see all the aw processes in the task bar.You would even see this error if you simply do not use the /console option to login when using mstc.
I did not even consider that someone did not have the Distributor running - you are right.
But you have to adjust your thinking - "you should see all the aw processes in the task bar" - will not cut it with Windows 2008.
With 8.0 and onwards, perhaps you should consider mentioning the Portico.
    Rgards,
    Geoff

Query regarding the Node manager configuration(WLS and OAM Managed server):
    1) In the nodemanager.properties I have added the ListenAddress:myMachineName and ListenPort: 5556
My setup : One physical Linux machine(myMachineName) has : WLS admin server, managed server(OAM 11G) and nodemanager. No clustered environment.
    2) nodemanager.log has the following exception when I start the oam_server1 using EM(Enterprise Manager11g):

Default port on which node manager listen for requests is localhost:5556.I have changed it to point to my machine. The port should be of WLS admin server or it should be the managed server port?
    3) I have started the NodeManager using the startNodeManager.sh script.
    4) The admin server port is 7001 and the oam managed server port is 14100.
Any inputs on what might be wrong in the setup will be helpful. Thanks !

By using netstat -anp|grep 5556 you can check which process on your machine is using the 5556 port.

  • How do the change management for the configuration of the adapters

    Hi all.
How do the change management for the configuration of the adapters, when i transport the software version component from an development system to production system.
For example, for to change the url parameters of adapters soap inside the production system. I will need type, the news values in this system?
    Thanks
    Best Regards.

There is an option to pass all the paramters except those who changes from
    system to system.
    for example,
if you are reading from a file from the directory: <SYS>\CREMAS_<TS>.XML
when <SYS> is DEV or QAS or PROD, and <TS> is time stamp,
you can create channel template that read file with file pattern CREMAS_*.XML,
this can save you a lot of work, however, parameters that are diffrent in every system, (in this case the directory DEV,QAS,PROD) you must enter manually in every system.

  • Why the scan lister and listener configure/start from GRID home why not from Oracle Home.

    Hi
why the scan lister and listener configure/start from GRID home why not from Oracle Home.

    > why the scan lister and listener configure/start from GRID home why not from Oracle Home.
Because Oracle says that's the way it has to be.
As @MohaAGOU said, starting in 11gR2, the Listeners (both SCAN and traditional) are now cluster resources. Let's start with the SCAN Listener. There are only 3 of them, even if you have 4 or more nodes in the cluster. If a node goes down and a SCAN Listener were running on it, Grid Infrastructure will relocate the SCAN Listener to a surviving node. Much easier to do this if the entire resource were in the GI home. Note that an instance cannot be relocated and it is running on a different home.
As for the traditional listener. The Listener itself won't be relocated during a node termination, but its VIP will.
    Cheers,
    Brian

  • Service Portal Console Displaying "Virtual Machine Manager lost the connection to the virutal machine"

    Hey All,
The issue we are having is that our admins and users cannot use the web console in the Service Portal.
When they right click on the VM and go to console a new tab opens and a message appears where the Console should appear stating: Virtual Machine Manager lost the connection to the virtual machine
We have tried Chrome/Firefox and IE 9/10/11. With Firefox and Chrome it just tries to load the Console Session.
Wonder if the community can provide some insight.
    Thanks

    Hi Boris,
Are your hosts Hyper-V hosts? Console connect makes use of an ActiveX control and users will need permission to install the ActiveX control.
This ActiveX control will then connect directly to the Hyper-V host that is running the virtual machine, which requires the client computer to have connectivity to the Hyper-V hosts and the user will need permission on the Hyper-V server.
    Kind Regards,
    Richard

  • Grid Management Pack

I switched one of the VM server pools I use to use the new VM pack in grid 10.2.0.5. I have a couple of comments and one issue that I hope someone has an idea about.
Conversion of an existing VM is painful! I had to shut down all my guest OSes, attach the management server and rediscover all my guests. This was fine for this pool, but makes it nearly impossible for a complex server pool. I can only imagine that converting a pool with multiple servers would be even more painful. This should have been configured to all it to attach to an existing pool and gradually transition over.
I like the look and feel, but it is a subset of the functionality of the vm manager standalone. For example, one of the first things I needed to do was a V2V conversion of a guest from VMWare server. There does not appear to be an equivalent functionality to 'Import Virtual Machine' in the grid pack.
Does anyone have a good mechanism for making this conversion?

You should be able to migrate the entire server pool from Oracle VM Manager to Enterprise Manager.
Moving all the Oracle VM servers in a server pool together is recommended instead of moving one VM server at a time.
    Please follow the steps below:
    1.     Power-down all the Guest Virtual Machines running on the VM servers in the pool. VM Manager requires that all Guest VMs be powered-down before the server pool and VM servers are deleted/de-registered from the VM Manager.
    2.     From Oracle VM Manager, on the Server Pools page, select the server pool you want to delete. Click the Delete button.
    a.     On the Delete Confirmation page, DO NOT select Remove all the working directories from the server pool if you do not want to permanently delete the files for Guest Virtual Machines.
    b.     Ensure that the server pool is no longer in use before deleting it.
    3.     Configure all the VM Servers appropriately
    a.     Make sure Oracle VM server version is 2.1.2 or higher and Oracle VM Agent version is 2.2-70 or higher
    b.     Apply latest patches to Oracle VM server (for example, patches are required for using EqualLogic storage)
    c.     “Default requires tty” line should be commented out in the /etc/sudoers file
    d.     If a user other than “root” is used to allow EM to connect to the Oracle VM server, /etc/sudoers file must be updated to give “sudo all” privilege to this user.
    4.     Create a new server pool in Enterprise Manager and specify the details of the same VM Server as the server pool Master in Enterprise Manager as the VM Server used as the Master Server in Oracle VM Manager.
    a.     Check the “HA mode” checkbox when creating the server pool in High Availability mode with clustering set up.
    5.     Register the other (non-Master) VM servers in the pool created in Enterprise Manager.
    6.     “Discover” the existing Guest Virtual Machines on VM servers, so they can show up in the Enterprise Manager console.
    7.     Any Oracle VM Templates located in /OVS/seed_pool shared storage location can be “discovered” as server pool “Resources” in Enterprise Manager.
