Configuring listener for report 6.0
We installed reports 6.0 on NT (and all of developer 6.0), but can't connect. We connect to the database using SQL*Plus fine. The documentation says Net8 assistant won't work with this version. How do we config the server/listener to work?
Change the registry settings under hkey_local_machine\software\oracle\tns_admin.
Here specify the oracle database tnsnames directory that contains the tnsnames.ora file.

Configure logshipping for report server database
Hi All,
Could some one please let me know the steps to be followed to configure logshipping for report server databases.
Thanks in Advance,
Regards, KranthiHi Kranthi,
Based on my understanding, you want to know how to change the roles between primary server and secondary server when primary server goes down. Also you want to know when you should install reporting service on secondary to make sure reporting service could
be used by application team.
When primary server goes down, you should manually fail over to the secondary server and make it your new primary server. Before changing roles between primary server and secondary server, you should initial role change. For more information, please refer
to this link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178117.aspx.
Besides, considering lots of time of reporting service installation and downtime during failover, I recommend you to install reporting service on secondary before configuring log shipping. When application team want to use reporting service with reportserver
database after you performing fail over to the secondary server, you can follow bellow steps to reset the database which will be used by reporting service:
Open Reporting Services Configuration Manager\Database.
Click Change database in the Current Report Server Database section.
On Action page, check Choose an existing report server database box. Click Next.
On Database Server page, type the secondary sever name then connect to it. Click Next.
On Database page, select the reportserver database from the drop-down menu of Report Server Database. Click Next.
Set the credentials, then click Finish on Progress and Finish page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Configuring rwservlet for Reports.
Hello,
When I run a .jsp report using rwservlet, does it invoke
oracle.runtimev2.JspServlet?
How do I configure it to run in 'justrun' mode without precompile? Changing the 'main_mode' parameter in global-web-application.xml doesn't seem to help. My report is getting compiled every time I run.
I generated the binary files for the .jsp report using ojspc. Now, where do I configure the location of the .class files?
(Where do I find this kind of information - specific to pre translation of .jsp reports?)
Thanks,
Murali.Murali,
.jsp report run through rwservlet, doesn't support precomplied jsp.It is being planned fornext release
If your objective is for running a jsp web report then you can use reports JSP mode ( deploy the reports jsp in OC4J - refer to OTN reports doc umention on this) and not rwservlet.
If you are wantig to run papaer report ( with reports layout), then one possible way is use rwconevrter to conevr the .jsp to .rep and use that in the finral request
Thanks

Configure listener for data guard
HI everyone,
I am currently setting data guard (Physical standby database) for my database. But I have problem to configure the listener on both servers. Can anyone provide me some example?
Oracle: 10g R2
O/S: Windows
Primary database ken10g
standby database: ken10gbk
Following is the content of my current listener files on both of servers:
Primary server:
# listener.ora Network Configuration File: C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\network\admin\listener.ora
# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
(ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1)
(PROGRAM = extproc)
LISTENER =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Primary_server)(PORT = 1521))
Standby Server:
# listener.ora Network Configuration File: C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\listener.ora
# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =

LISTENER =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = standby_server)(PORT = 1521))
Thanks in advance.
KenHi Ken,
You need to configure this on both primary and standby, I would have kept different listener name on primary and standby. Also if you are going to use dataguard broker you would need to set GLOBAL_DBNAME in your listener.ora file
I have give a sample entry for tnsnames.ora and listener.ora
TNSNAMES.ORA on primary
STNDBY =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = node2-prv)(PORT = 10521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = STNDBY)
PRIM =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = node1-prv)(PORT = 10521)))
PRIMARY =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = node1-prv)(PORT = 10521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = PRIMARY)
EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = PLSExtProc)
(PRESENTATION = RO)
Copy the same file to the standby server and adjust it based on the listener.ora file. Also update the listener.ora file so that it listen the SIDs mentioned in the tnsnames.ora file.
Listener.ora
LISTENER_STBY =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = node2-prv)(PORT = 10521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
SID_LIST_LISTENER_STBY =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
(ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db10g)
(PROGRAM = extproc)
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = stndby)
(GLOBAL_DBNAME = stndby_DGMGRL)

Configure Listener for Multiple IP's???
I need to know how to configure my listener on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server using Oracle 8i to allow for the following conditions:
1) I have 4 NIC'S in my server and I have 1 different IP address on each NIC.
2) Stations will connect to Oracle via those 4 different IP's/NIC'S for load balancing of the NIC'S.
3) There is only 1 SID used for my database.
Any suggestions of how to configure the listener?
Any Help GREATLY appreciated!!!
mailto:[email protected]Can you use the idea posted here?
You only have 2 options if you want to use remote desktop on multiple pc's on the same lan. Change the listening port, or forward an external port to a different internal port. Don’t enable upnp, there’s no need for it and it will just cause more problems than its worth. why would you want an application opening ports on your firewall without you knowing it? Just change the listening port on pc 2 to 3390, pc 3 to 3391. Then forward these ports to each respective ip address (should be static ips). and you are done. When you want to connect to pc 1 you type {your ip} and it will connect to pc 1. For pc 2, you type {your ip}:3390. pc 3 {your ip}:3391.

How to configure listener while upgrade to RAC 11.2.0.2?
I have 11.2.0.1 and preparing for upgrade to 11.2.0.2. While upgrading the single node we have to set the new oracle_home then configure listener for new home then upgrade the db.
How to follow the same steps in case of RAC. The listeners are running from grid_home.So how to create all the listeners for new oracle_home? So by just installing GRID binaries does is install the GI completely to 11.2.0.2?
Also Do I have to plan for listeners while RDBMS upgrade ?
ENV:
Server: Windows 2008R2
DB: RAC two node on ASM
Storage: SAN
Kindly explain.Sabastian,
I have configured the 3 IPs for SCAN. When you replied for SCAN I checked the status of SCAN IPs. And the strange thing is on node 1 status of SCAN IPs gives "could not find the srvice name.

Why it is so? Last week when I was working it was fine. So do you mean if I have three SCAN IPs, all three IPs has to be in listener.ora?

How to configure multiple listeners to listen for the same instance.
Hello everyone,
I am running oracle database 11g and I want information regarding how to configure multiple listeners to listen for the same database instance. Actually I know how to configure more than one listener but the main thing that I am confused about is when we create listener.ora file, do we have to statically register the database instance with both the listeners or the instance will register itself with both the listeners.
According to my knowledge the instance will register with the listener specified by LOCAL_LISTENER parameter and we cannot have more than one value for this parameter.
Please only give detailed answers with example as I am tired of simple answers with details that I already know.Hello,
Yes, it can make sense to have several listener for one Oracle instance. For instance you may have one listener for the applications another listener for DBA administration tasks as well as one listener dedicated to dataguard broker. It is not possible to have several listeners listening on the same IP and Port.
By default the database try to automatically register to a listener on port 1521. To instruct the instance to register to a specifc list of listeners you can add in the init.ora the local_listener parameter with an alias definition:
i.e
local_listener=MY_SET_OFF_LISTENERS
in your tnsname.ora add an entry called:
MY_SET_OFF_LISTENERS_LOCAL= (ADDRESS_LIST=
(ADRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=myhostname)(PORT=1530))
(ADRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=myhostname)(PORT=1531))
(ADRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=myhostname)(PORT=1532))
In this sample your instance will register to three listeners listening on respectively port 1530, 1531 and 1532
If you want your clients can be balanced over the 3 listeners -
How to configure one Listener for 2 databases on the same server

Please, I am stuck as with my application server which requests the port 1521. I want to configure the repository to make use of the port 1521 which is also shared by another database on the server.

Configuration of EWA reports for java systems.
Hello,
I am facing a problem with configuration of EWA reports for SAP NW Portal.
I have already configured EWA for abap systems, and those are running good on weekly basis. but i have problem with configuration of reports for java systems.
So far, i have installed an SMD agent and CA on my EP-satellite system. I have also configured and SMD server on my Sollution Manager and registered the SMD agent on SMD server and installed Willy Introscope on SMD server.
I am using a central SLD which is running on different host as Solution Manager. I did all the configuration (smsy_setup, configuration of sld_data_supplier etc... )
I have also created the system in SMSY, matched the smsy with SLD and assigned Logical component to java system.
So far, so good according to manuals but when i want do define data collection in the SMD for Gargage Collection (task in scheduler) i cannot see host of my portal system.
I can see only the hosts (scheduler tasks ) of all abap system for which the EWA reports have already been generated.
Am i missing something?
Some configuration in SMD?
My solution manager is running on Sap NW 7.0, SPS16,
Sattelite system NW 7.0 EP, SPS 6 (planning to SPS 19)
Thank you for your advices!!!Hi Suveer,
I did the configuration before. I forgot to mention it.
I found this errors in Diagnostic Setup, maybe this could be the cause of the issue.

Configure ePortfolio for Crystal Reports 9 Report Application Server for Users to Run Reports
Post Author: lacc
CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Sorry for this basic question but Crystal 9 is no longer supported and I am having trouble finding any documentation about how to configure ePortfolio let alone obtain any help from Crystal support.
I have a set of .RPT files and would like the simplest and quickest method of distribution to the users with as little coding and fuss as possible.
We have the ePortfolio page up and running but the users can only view the reports from ePortfolio. They also need to be able to run (refresh) the reports and enter the parameters which have already been built into the .RPT file. Providing access to the deactivated Schedule and History links would also be useful though not a priority unlike access to refresh and enter parameters.
I usually create reports to run from within an application which I can handover to the application developer so working out how to distribute via this method is pretty new to me.
I've also had a quick look at the Crystal Reports Viewer XI which appears to be backward compatible for Crystal 9 reports however this also appears to only allow users to view, not generate, reports.
Any recommendations? Or could you point me in the direction of some documentation that might assist?Post Author: lacc
CA Forum: Crystal Reports
I think I've worked out that we are actually using ePortfolio Lite. Would anyone be able to confirm if there are any configuration options for ePortfolio Lite? I think we only have the Crystal Reports 9 Advanced version, not Crystal Reports 9 Enterprise. Would this mean that we therefore only have ePortfolio Lite not ePortfolio? -
Configure virual path in Apache for reports
I need to configure a virtual path in Apache for Oracle reports.
Where do I have to do that?
nullI don't know for reports, but from an apache perspective, look at httpd.conf. Search for Alias ... and just copy that line. Change it to whatever virtual / real path you want.
Restart apache ... and you should have your new virtual path.
