Configuring MSS on Portal 6.0

Hi,
Can anybody suggest me the steps to configure MSS business package on portal 6.0. R3 server is ECC 5.0.
Thanks
Shiraz

Hi Shiraz
Steps to configure MSS:
1 - Deploy MSS .sca to your J2EE Engine via SDM
2 - Deploy PCUI .sca to your J2EE Engine via SDM
3 - Make sure you have a SLD available, or you can enable the local SLD on your Portal J2EE instance via http://localhost:port/sld and login as Administrator or J2EE_ADMIN and run the auto import.
4 - Define your ECC server in the SLD as a new WAS ABAP instance and define all the settings via the wizard.
5 - Use the WebDynpro explorer to configure the Jco destinations to use the new WAS ABAP instance in your SLD
6 - Import the ESS business package into the Portal.
7 - Define the system definitions as per the MSS documentation for alias SAP_WebDynpro_XSS and others
8 - Assign Employee role from PCD to your Portal user and assign the relevant profile to your backend user in ECC
9 - Use transaction pa30 to add a communications infotype entry to map your username to an employee in the hierarchy.

  • Help on Configuring MSS

    Hello ESS/MSS Experts,
I am trying to configure MSS in Portal.  The backend configuration for Compensation Management has been performed under the node Personnel Management -> Enterprise Compensation Management by the functional consultant.  Even after this is done, I am getting an error in the Portal iViews MSS->Planning Page.  Can any of you provide me a config document which will guide me to configure MSS from the scratch in the Portal side?  I am not aware of any of the settings which needs to be configured for MSS.  I am new to MSS config as well.
Any documentation or any help ASAP in this regard is greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Madhu

    Hello Siddharth,
Thanks for your quick reply.  I am not able to open this doc as its giving Page cannot be found error.
This is the error message I am getting in the Planning -> Service Request iView. com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: ComponentUsage(FPMConfigurationUsage): Active component must exist when getting interface controller. (Hint: Have you forgotten to create it with createComponent()? Should the lifecycle control of the component usage be "createOnDemand"?
For almost all of the other iViews am getting Portal Runtime Error.
I haven't done any configuration w.r.t MSS side from Portal and it will be of great help if you can provide a documentation which explains the step by step approach in configuring MSS from Portal.
Kindly let me know if you have any queries.

  • Error in UWL configuration for MSS in portal..

    HI,
I want to configure UWL in portal so that I can see/approve  leave in UWL in MSS. Please let me know how to configure the same.
When I am trying to configure the UWL in system admin> system configuration> Univerasal Worklist Administration, under that i clicked in new button to add my R/3 system, in that popup i mentioned my system alias name of R/3 system and connector as Webflow connector and remaining field i kept as empty and i clicked on save button after that when i click on Register button OR Register item type for all system than I am getting the following error, please let me know what the  issue is ?

SandBoxCLNT300 is the system alias of system I have created for R/3. in that system object I am using logon ticket.
Also when i try to test that system , SAP Web AS Connection  AND  ITS Connection connection are tested properly with green tick but the third parameter  Test Connection with Connector is failing and the error is

Issue is fixed, Refer sap note 1662200
Its available  in SP for SAP PCUI_GP 633.
    The problem originates from class
FcTeamCalendar. For some reason, the character ';' is no longer valid
in the xml, hence, gets rejected by the Java WD runtime. The string is
parsed against the pattern "[a-zA-Z_0-9]*". Hence, I have replaced ';'
by '_'. The IGS colleagues have confirmed that this should be working
    fine now.
If you have NWDS available, here are the manual steps to make this
    change:
    1. Edit class FcTeamCalendar.java.
    2. Replace "private static final String SEPARATOR = ";";" by
"private static final String SEPARATOR = "_";"
    3. Save your changes, rebuild and deploy.

  • LDAP user groups not visible for configuring a Group Portal

    Hi,
We have created a Custom Security Realm(myRealm) on WebLogic 7.0 SP2 in which
I've added the Novell LDAP Authentication provider as the authentication provider
and then set "myRealm" as the default realm for the domain. I am able to start
the WLS server instance and login to portalAppTools with the "administrator" account.
We would like to configure a Group Portal. In Portal Administration interfaces,
when I click on Group Administartion, I am unable to see any of my external LDAP
groups. I know that we cannot create/delete users or groups in the external LDAP
repository thru the Admin UI but the documentation says that I should be able
to view the users/groups in the Admin UI. Authentication against the external
LDAP repository works fine. Can anybody suggest the reason why we are unable to
view any of the Users or Groups in our external LDAP repository thru the User
    Administration interfactes.
    Appreciate any feedback.
    Thanks
    Vikram

    Hi Jim,
I've configured a default LDAP V2 Compatibility Realm by modifying the Config.xml
file. I was able to restart Weblogic and see the LDAP Groups and Users thru the
WLS console. In our project we've a unique requirement wherein all Application
Groups and User Accounts would be stored in an LDAP repository and all BEA SERVICE
level accounts and groups are stored in a Database (groups like AdminEligible,
Administrators etc.). We need to be able to look at the groups in both the Database
and LDAP repositories in order to administer and configure a Group Portal. On
the outset it looks like we will not be able to do what we want to with the current
portal framework. Please suggest if there are any alternatives in order to implement
this solution. I am sure there are lot of other Clients who cannot create groups
like Administrators, AdminEligible etc in their LDAP repositories and will be
    forced to think of alternatives.
I would appreciate if you can reply back at your earliest convenience.
    Thanks
    Vikram

The Weblogic 7.0 Authentication Providers (new JAAS Framework) is not
supported with Portal 7.0. You will need to configure the Compatibility
Security CustomRealm for Novell to try to get Portal working.
    see defaultLDAPRealmForNovellDirectoryServices at
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/adminguide/cnfgsec.html#1083149
In addition, remember to test functionality through the Weblogic
Console. If you can see groups and users there okay it is very likely
    that Portal will operate.

  • Internal and External Portals be hosted & Configured on Same Portal server?

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to host and configure the Internal portal and External Portal on the same portal server?
If yes, kindly provide the inputs.
We have a scenario wherein we have to use the same portal server for both kinds of users (Internal as well as External).
We want to provide separate URLs for both the portals and the datasource for the users management would be different for both the scenarios.
The user managemnet in case of Internal Portal has to be authenticated to an AD server whereas in case of External Portal the user management would be taken care by UME.
Please suggest and share some docs if possible.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Anurag

    Hi,
Can we customise the Portal logon page for both the portals differently?
I've already customised the portal logon page by modifying the UME properties in the Config Tool but that was done keeping in mind the External Portal users. Now, we want to customise the page for Intranet users but with different options at the logon page.
How can we achieve this functionality as any property that we modify in either VA or Config Tool will affect both types of portal pages.
For an eg. we have a Self Registration link for the external users which we do not want for the Intranet users. How is this possible?
If we design a webdynpro java application for the logon page and for authentication purpose, can we call a home page iview on successful authentication?
And with this customised webdynpro java application, can we connect to the AD server for the user authentication?
    Best Regards,

  • PtlConfig not creating portal configuration in iasconfig/ portal 904-1012 u

    Hi,
I am trying to upgrade portal 904 to portal version 10.1.2.0.2.
Have just installed the middle-tier for 10.1.2 and then upgraded it. both 'completed successfully' as the message after them goes. however, the portal dad has not been configured for our portal. so we have to create a configuration of this portal in iasconfig.xml.
to do so, i use the ptlconfig.bat in midtier1012_home/portal/conf folder. however, once i run the script
    1) i get the following error;
    Portal Dependency Settings Tool
Updating configuration file from Portal Repository....
    Problem updating configuration file: null
    2) secondly, i do not get any ptlconfig.log in the midtier1012_home/portal/logs folder.
does anybody have any clue what could be missing here?
has anyone encountered this problem in portal upgrade?
does anyone have any clue on how to fix it?
any urgent help is requested and will be appreciated.
    thanks
    syed

I went on to finish the remaining steps of 10.1.2 upgrade and finished upgrading the Identity Management, Metadata Repository and Portal Repository. All remained fine and completed without errors - yet the portal does not load any entry in the iasconfig configuration file.
This problem persists although the portal remains accessible in all respects. The portal navigator and builder pages are accessible, and portal components remain accessible, editable and executable from the navigator and also from the main portal. the login is working as expected too.
did anyone else face the same issue - of having a functional portal yet not having the portal dad's entry in the iasconfig file?
will appreciate any clue or idea on how to fix it. thanks.
