Configuring multenancy in sharepoint 2013

Is there a good link to show step by step configuration of the multitenancy in SharePoint 2013. Please share

These are probably two of the best.
http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2013mt.aspx - covers what changed in terms of multitenancy in 2013 and the modified PowerShell that you will need.
http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2010mt1.aspx - This is a general walkthrough of multitenancy in 2010.  Any script that isn't mentioned in the other article stayed the same for 2013.  Just
use this one and substitute the changes in the other article.

I have load balanced servers dedicated for Office Web Apps with name “md1xxxwfe1” and “md1xxxwfe2”
, both this servers are load balanced by CISCO Load balancer. And I have mapped Load Balancer Virutal IP with host name officeapps.jda.corp.local in the DNS records.

    Hi  Ram ,
For  troubleshooting your issue, please take steps as below:
Just about any load balancing solution will work, including a server that runs the Web Server (IIS) role running Application Request Routing (ARR):Install
    Application Request Routing
Install the certificate on the load balancer as described under Securing Office Web Apps Server communications by using
    HTTPS.
Make sure you have configured the cluster correctly for full internet name:

  • Configure Apps for SharePoint 2013 in dev environment without DNS

    I have a SP 2013 dev env
http://spitlab/ .I want to configure app store in this environment
will I be able to do it without access to a DNS server
I followed the below two articles
    http://www.ashokraja.me/post/Develop-SharePoint-2013-Napa-App-In-Local-Dev-Environment-Configuring-On-Premises-without-DNS.aspx
I am able to install third party apps but when I click on it . it gets redirected to sfs.in
    next i try this
    http://sharepointconnoisseur.blogspot.com/2013/07/shortcut-to-prepare-sharepoint-2013-app.html
same thing I am able to install 3rd party apps but when i click on it .. it goes to intranet.com
so is it possible to install third party apps on a dev box without DNS and check out third party apps and if what steps am i missing ?

    Hi,
If you click the 3rd party apps and it is redirected to sfs.in or intranet.com, this means you configured app domain correctly.
You can read the official document per the following first link to understand what app domain is (with DNS configured), app domain format is as bellow image (borrowed from this
article), and app domain is defined as you want(e.g. ContosoApps.com).
Without DNS, as your above two articles described, the app domain (e.g. apps.com, or apps.sfs.in) is written manually in hosts file directly, you can construct an app domain as your own, then after you install a custom developed app, it should be the following
    app url format.

  • Work Manager Configuration Issue with SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
We are facing issue to configure the Workflow Manager with SharePoint 2013.
    ===========================================================
Please provide any solution/inputs to resolve this issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you configured Workflow Manager for SharePoint 2013.
For resolving your issue, please do as the followings:
1.Start -> Programs -> Workflow Manager 1.0 -> Workflow Manager Configuration -> Remove from Farm     (not to be confused with SharePoint “farm”)
2.Drop SQL databases for Workflow Manager.   (SbGatewayDatabase, SbManagementDB, SBMessageContainer01, WFInstanceManagementDB, WFManagementDB, WFResourceManagementDB)
3.Start-> Programs-> Workflow Manager 1.0 -> Workflow Manager Configuration -> Configure Workflow Manager with Default Settings (Recommended)
4.Ran the wizard just like before and it should be completed successfully this time.
More information, please refer to the link below:

  • Configuring apps in sharepoint 2013 onpremises

    Hi,
we have a lab environment for sharepoint 2013 with
    1) Domain controller (domain : test.local)
    2) SharePoint server { SQL Server 2012 (full install), SharePoint 2013 (full install)}
Now we would like to configure sharepoint 2013 apps in our environment. In the TechNet blogs and articles ,it says to create a unique domain for the sharepoint apps ... does this mean,we have to create one more domain (one more server)  or just add
a domain in the DNS and perform the configuration ?
Below is the point from the TechNet article :
When choosing your App domain for each farm, you have 2 options:
1.Create a new unique domain to host your SharePoint-hosted Apps in, or
    2.Create a sub-domain of the existing domain.
The recommendation is to create a new unique domain such as contosoapps.com rather than a sub-domain such as apps.contoso.com.
If you could help me out with steps for configuring the same .. that would be helpful .

    Hi Suren,
it does not mean you need to create one more server, you just add a domain forward lookup.
Yes, the recommendation is create a unique domain which internally gets forwared to your domain.
You need to configure forward lookup zone for your apps (here in this example contosoapps.com), in layman terms it is just an alias for your existing domains.
I think you are refering to this URL -
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161236.aspx
and if you have already followed those steps mentioned in Configure the domain names in DNS (all hosting options)
and go to " To create a wildcard Alias (CNAME) record for the new domain name"
    and do ping Apps-12345678ABCDEF.yourdomain.com
to see whether you get reply from above ping.
The steps that are given in the above link is easy to perform, do let me know where you got stuck.
    Hope this helps!

  • Problem in configuring Apps in sharepoint 2013

  • Configuring Apps for SharePoint 2013 - Host Header Sites

    Hi All
I am busy planning our Apps for SharePoint deployment and one gotcha seems to be sites that use host headers. Our current deployment consists of the following:
    2x WFE's (WFESRV1 and WFESRV2)
    2x App Servers (APPSRV1 and APPSRV2)
The WFE's are load-balanced and we have 2 sites, portal.intranet.com and mysite.intranet.com. Both use host headers. I have gotten to the point where I will have a DNS zone called companyapps.com and a CNAME *.companyapps.com.
To which site do I point the CNAME to and what if I need both sites to be App enabled? Also, a lot of sites mention I need a empty site collection on a separate IP in order to use Apps with host headers. How would I use this empty site collection and
    what would I name it?
We are on the March 2013 update.

May Be I understand your question as *.companyapps.com should be pointed to sharepoint server but where in IIS binding would you map *.companyapps.com
Actually, When you configure the APPS on server, the central admin > apps > you have to mention this *.companyapps.com. Now all apps will be "(yourname)-guid.companyapps.com"
Then you will have to create a app catalog where all the app related details will be stored
When App service application is created it is automatically added to default service connection. and this service connection to mapped to other web application(Application management, you see service connection)
If all is configured well apps will automatically work for all web apps

  • Upload wsp file and configure webpart in Sharepoint 2013

    Hi All,
I have a WSP file which has custom webpart built from VS 2013.
Now I need to upload WSP file and add that webpart in the site I have created.
I have gone to Site settings--> Web Designer Galleries --> Solutions and uploaded Solution.
    Then activated.
But when I go to Site settings--> Web Designer Galleries--> Webparts and go to 'New' , I am not able to see that webpart!!!
    Regards, Shreyas R S

I assume it is not a Sandbox solution and it a full trust solution. Try below:
    Remove that webpart
    On sharepoint server type
    add-spsolution
    path of file e.g. c:\132.wsp
Then from central admin > systems > farm solutions > select the wsp and select deploy
Once deployed it has reference in web.config which did not happened in your previous case.
then you can follow same process of activating the solution and adding it to page

  • Installating and Configuring RBS for SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
I was following this article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee748631(v=office.15).aspx#provision in
order to provision the BLOB Store for Content Database, in the step no.6 and the third SQL query, it is asking me to create a folder under “C” directory called ‘Blobstore’ which is on the same SQL server but here I would like to use some other remote server
or network shared drive other than current SQL database server in order to provision ‘Blobstore’. Please advise if it is possible?
Just FYI my client is not ready to use any third party tools in order to do any configuration.<o:p></o:p>
    Thanks in advance
    Ali

It is not possible using the Microsoft RBS provider. The storage must be presented as a local volume to the SQL Server (this includes volumes mounted over an iSCSI or Fiber Channel interface, for example).

  • Application Configuration List (key/value) in SharePoint 2013

What is the best way to have a application configuration list in SharePoint 2013? Think of a SharePoint portal with around 50 key/value pairs that needs to be configured
(Similar to configuration manager that we had as part of Microsoft patterns and practices library - These libraries are not yet updated for SharePoint 2013)
    pratap R

As a quick answer, you may go with hidden list -
link, however what is your environment (O365/On Prem). Site property Bag also another way. Actually it depends on situation and NFRs.

No choice we have to migrate to SQL Server 2012. The SQL Server 2012 SP1 version of the add-in and report server, add support for SharePoint Server 2013
QL Server 2008 R2 is server + Cal or Processor bases

    Standard = $7,171 to $28,688
    Enterprise = $13,748 to $137,480
SQL Server 2012 doesn’t cost more than SQL Server 2008 R2 but we have to admit that it contains a high number of significant new features. For the same price we can have a lot of more features in SQL and SharePoint! So if you want to use BI for SharePoint

  • Sharepoint 2013 Workflow not available on Site created from Sharepoint 2013 Foundation Solution Template

If I create a template on SharePoint 2013 Foundation, then create a site on SharePoint Enterprise (or Office/365) fully configured to support SharePoint 2013 workflows. When I access the site through SharePoint Designer 2013, and attempt to create a workflow
SharePoint 2013 Workflows are not available -- you get message that SharePoint 2013 Workflow platform is not available because it is not configured on the server. This appears to be a bug in SharePoint Designer as the 2013 Workflows are available on the team
site on the same site collection. There is no reason that a site created from a SharePoint 2013 foundation template should have this restriction.   To make matters worse if you then save that site as a template on the SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (or
Office/365) system and create a new site from the that template you get the same issue.
Anyone know a workaround/fix to this issue.   Have imported the template into Visual Studio but I can not find any way in Visual Studio to enable SharePoint 2013 workflows.   A solution that involves Visual Studio import would work fine
    for me.
    Earllibby

Apparently you did not read my question very carefully.   The workflow manager is configured properly on this server and for the basic Team site in this site collection the full SharePoint 2013 workflows are available in SharePoint Designer 2013.
BUT they are not available on another site in the SAME SITE COLLECTION that was created from a solution template that was created on a SharePoint Foundation server.

    Hi Joshua.Arenz,
As per my understanding, you configured SSRS 2012 of SharePoint mode, when you click system setting in Central Admin, you got the error message.
According to the error message, the Reporting Services service application is not configured correctly. Please make sure you created service application correctly by following steps:
In SharePoint Central Administration, in the Application Management group, click Manage Service Applications.
In the SharePoint toolbar, click the New button.
In the New menu, click SQL Server Reporting Services Service Application.
In the Create SQL Server Reporting Services Service Application page, enter a name for the application.
In Application Pool section, create a new application pool for the application (recommended). Then select or create a managed account for the application pool.
In the Database Server, you can use the current server or choose a different SQL Server.
In Database Name the default value is ReportingService_<guid>, which is a unique database name. If you type a new value, type a unique value.
In Database Authentication, the default is Windows Authentication.
In the Web Application Association section, select the Web Application to be provisioned for access by the current Reporting Services Service Application.
    Click OK.
For more information about Creating a new Reporting Services Service Application, please refer to the following document:

    Hi limlim1975,
Based on your description, it seems the Access Service not configured properly in SharePoint 2013.
I suggest you follow the steps below to make sure the Access Service has been configured properly:
    1. Configure Isolated App Domain.
    2. Configure SQL Server 2012 for Access Services 2013.
    3. Configure Access Services 2013 in SharePoint Central Administration->Manage Server.
