Configuring Weblogic 9.x as both webserver and appserver

Hi,
How can one configure weblogic to host static content on weblogic web server and application/business logic on application server.
Regards
Raju

We have upgraded our WebLogic from 8.1 to 9.2 along with our PeopleSoft 9.0 upgrade and boy-oh-boy, has the WebLogicAdmin console slowed down.
It used to open in about 10 seconds.
Now it opens in roughly 1 minute and 30 seconds.
The heap size settings are the same as they were in the WebLogic 8.1
Even restarting the WebLogicAdmin and associated PeopleSoft PIA's is the worst I have ever seen.
Windows 2003 SP3
Here's the startup command line;
-Xms256m -Xmx256m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -classpath ";D:/psft/hr849\webserv\hdev\lib\ps_patch.jar;D:/psft/hr849\webserv\hdev\applications\peoplesoft\PSIGW\WEB-INF\lib\mail.jar;D:/psft/hr849\webserv\hdev\lib\portlet-api-1.0.jar;D:/psft/hr849\webserv\hdev\lib\pluto-1.0.1.jar;D:/psft/hr849\webserv\hdev\applications\peoplesoft\PORTAL\WEB-INF\lib\saaj.jar;D:/psft/hr849\webserv\hdev\applications\peoplesoft\PORTAL\WEB-INF\lib\xml-apis.jar;D:/psft/hr849\webserv\hdev\applications\peoplesoft\PORTAL\WEB-INF\lib\xercesImpl.jar;;d:\bea\patch_weblogic923\profiles\default\sys_manifest_classpath\weblogic_patch.jar;d:\bea\jdk150_12\lib\tools.jar;d:\bea\WEBLOG~1\server\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;d:\bea\WEBLOG~1\server\lib\weblogic.jar" -Djava.util.logging.config.file=D:\psft\hr849\webserv\hdev\applications\peoplesoft\logging.properties -Dorg.apache.commons.logging.Log=org.apache.commons.logging.impl.Jdk14Logger -Dweblogic.Name=WebLogicAdmin -Dweblogic.management.username=operator -Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=true -Dps_vault=D:\psft\hr849\webserv\hdev\psvault -Djava.security.policy="d:\bea\WEBLOG~1\server\lib\weblogic.policy" -Dssl.debug=false -Dps_home=D:/psft/hr849 weblogic.Server

  • What's the disadvantages of using webserver and appserver of different type?

If I choose webserver:iPlanet6.0 and appserver:WebLogic6.1 on one server, What's the disadvantages?
Mayby I will use the webserver and appserver of the same company.
I wish someone give me some advice.

As Barney-15E says, someone with physical control, can just remove the disk, and put it in an external enclosure, and mount the file system with their computer and access all the files.
Only encrypted data would be protected. There are data encryption facilities available on the Mac, both included, as well as 3rd party, including 3rd party whole disk encryption.
But having a password on an account, and engaging the password when the screen saver is active, can keep casual access from happening.
Also if you allow network access (file sharing, remote login, screen sharing), the password will keep random net users from accessing your system, when for example, you are in a coffee shop, or if someone gets onto your WiFi network, or you give a visitor to your home access to your network, or you allow a guest to use the guest account.

  • Make sure Webserver and Appserver are up. java.lang.NullPointerException

I redeployed PIA (websphere version 6.1.0.3) Aix 5.3

While trying to login to the Apps (PIA) i get following Error

i also reinstalled PIA for another instance on the same server... that is working fine.
I checked the PIAinstall.log as well .. that also looks fine.
I have increased the Java Heap size but that also dint help..
Can anyone help or adivse on this ...Thanks

    Vishal,
Is it the follow of your previous thread ? Re: Issue with PeopleSoft Sign-on url....not able to get the signon page
    Wouldn't it be Weblogic11gR1 ?
Did you upgraded your FSCM 8.9 database to Peopletools 8.50 ?
It seems you are not using fixed IP address and /etc/hosts not updated correctly (127.0.0.1 should not be used here).
    OS ?
I checked the PSMSGNODEDEFN table and the node PSFT_EP is the default node and not the PT_LOCAL. Can this be the reason or something else? I'm not sure to understand you is wrong there. Why would you want PT_LOCAL ?

  • How to properly configure a home network using both Mac and PC computers

Is there a book or set of guidelines that can tell me how to properly configure (exact specifications) my computers in a home network? Here is what I am trying to do and using:
    1) Three computers: iMac (late 06 ver), Macbook (newest version), Dell laptop. The two Macs are using Leopard and the PC is XP.
    2) Bellsouth modem which feeds into the Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS)
    3) The AEBS has a USB hub which is connected to a external hard drive and two inkjet printers. A third laser printer/scanner/fax machine is connected to the AEBS via ethernet.
    4) All three computers use a wireless connection to the AEBS.
    I would like the following:
    1) Have a secured and password driven network - don't want outsiders connecting to the nework without permission.
    2) All computers to be able to access the USB printers and ext HD.
    3) The two Macs to read/write to each other with password access
    4) The iMac to have read/write capabalities over the PC via VSFusion or Bootcamp if possible.
Currently, all three have Internet access via the AEBS and can print on the ethernet printer. Both Macs can see the Bonjour USB printers and print (however they to do not display on the AEBS configuration display utility and neither does the ext HD). The USB ext HD is shown on the iMac desktop and I have access to it, but does not display on the MacBook. I have not checked if the PC sees the external HD and it really does not matter if it ever does, although it would be nice.
I am hoping that there is some standard configuration that I can "cut and paste" that is generally used to allow a home network to share resources while still being secure.
Any advice and help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Andrew,
What you would like is fairly complicated so this will probably be a lengthy post, but hopefully I can assist you.
As others here have pointed out, networks can vary widely, but the best networks have one element in common: planning. The first thing you need to think about is how you would like all of these systems to cooperate. For instance, do you want one of the machines to serve files to the others and be a central repository, or are you just interested in having them share documents on occasion so that you don't have to carry around, say, a USB key all the time? That said, here is a basic list of things I think you should look into.
    1. Network Basics
First step is to get your local network set up. I'd go for WPA or WPA2 wireless security as they are relatively strong standards and you can use human-readable passwords. Additionally, unless you have an explicit need for someone outside your network to initialize a connection (Windows' RDP for instance), do not allow any passthroughs or port redirects on your AEBS.
    2. Network Topology
Decide how you want computers and networked devices to identify themselves and their relative locations in the network: in short, do you want static ip's or dynamic ip's? Most of the time, static IP's can be assigned on a DHCP router, the trick is to assign the statics higher than your number of devices (or lower on some routers - for instance Linksys routers start DHCP at 192.168.1.100 but you could have statics from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.99). For instance, it is impractical to set a laptop to static because I'm often in coffee shoppes and other environments that assign via DHCP; on the other hand, it's a good idea to have a printer be static so that you always know where to find it. So, I have 10.0.1.x network (default on AEBS), and the printer is 10.0.1.24, since the likelihood of my encountering an IP conflict with 4 computers on the subnet is virtually zero. If you configure a static device behind your AEBS, defaults are usually
    Default Gateway 10.0.1.1
    IP Address 10.0.1.(your choice)
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    3. File-sharing.
3a) Mac OS X has a built-in SMB/CIFS (Windows file & printer sharing protocol) client, and a basic SMB [samba] server can be enabled in the sharing preference panel (enable file and/or printer sharing). Windows XP can use these shares, but must authenticate. For that reason, you may not be able to see your shares in the Network Places browser, however you should be able to get to them by mapping the network drive (tools menu) or executing RUN with \\computer.name\share.name. You will then be able to type in your credentials. I would also suggest relatively simple names for the Macs in question (set in Sharing preference pane). Typing Andrew's-iMac-G4 in every time you want to find it will get irritating after a while to say the least, especially if you need to troubleshoot.
3b) The reverse works similarly. You can Connect to Server... from Finder to get to the Windows shares. To do this you must have Windows File and Printer sharing enabled (most easily through the Network Setup Wizard in Control Panels - Use Classic View). It's really easy if your account names and passwords are identical on the Mac and PC, because when loading user profiles, the Mac will generally automatically try to authenticate against the Windows machine with your Mac logon credentials. (Windows seems to do this against the Mac as well) You can write an Applescript or there are some PLIST modifications you can make to mount Windows shares at login.
    4. Printing
I'm not exactly sure what you had in mind here since I'm not sure what's connected to which computer or directly to the network. If it is possible, I personally find putting my printers directly on the network to be the easiest thing. Especially if printing large PDF or graphics files, the spooling on the host system can really slow the computer down, and slow down printing. For example, I used to have a laserjet on a Windows box and had to print a very large file. Going through a Win print server, it only printed a page every 30 seconds, but when I got a jetdirect adapter, the whole thing was done in under two minutes. If you have HP Printers, I would recommend the jetdirect print servers (I have used with both a laserjet and a supposedly unsupported color inkjet).

  • How do I configure the portal to allow both anonymous and LDAP or Membership Logins?

I want my portal's content to be publically accessable, to allow anonymous users to browse the content without the ability to modify layouts, content, etc. <br><br> But I can't figure out how to make the portal completely skip the login menu page. If I enable any modules besides the Anonymous module, I get the login menu. If I disable all modules but anonymous, I get a login module denied error message when I post to the login servlet from one of my pages.
What do I need to do? My frustration with the lack of decent documentation of most of the features of this product is growing by the second.

  • How configure rewriter proxy to allow both http and https

    Hi,
We are attempting to proxy a web application with the portal rewriter however the web application starts off as https and then switches to http, and even back to https as you click through hyperlinks. By default the portal rewriter doesn't seem to tolerate this URL/protocol switching. Since we have no control over the application to force it one way or the other, we need a way so that the portal rewriter will tolerate this situation.
Currently we have it configured this way:
psconsole -> secure remote access -> profile: default -> deployment -> proxies for domains and subdomains -> domains:
    Domain/Subdomain: HostWeAreProxying.domain.com Proxy: <blank>
    Rewriter settings are all default.

  • Webserver and jms ?

I have a problem weblogic 7.0 and I hope you find some time to help me in
              it.
I have a JMS Client application A that send messages to specific Queue, and
another java Client application B that receives these messages and process
              them.
I need to access the Queue from the both applications throug http proxy
(apache,IIS,httpProxy,.......) where the client application A,B onnect to
the machine which hosts the web server and this machine delegate the request
to the machine host Weblogic 7.0 which has the Queue ,but it dose not work.
how can I configure the webserver (apache,IIS,httpProxy)(any type of these)
              due make my application works.

To redirect HTTP from a webserver to WebLogic, you need to install
and configure WebLogic plug-ins on the webserver. To allow WebLogic
to tunnel client connections through HTTP, the WebLogic servers must
have "HTTPTunnelingEnabled" turned on. This stuff is outside the scope
of JMS, sorry I don't have time to give pointers into the doc, but I
think you should be able to find it easily enough.

  • Configuring weblogic as a webserver

We have a client with the following architecture:
    1. Weblogic 5.1 as web server on one host (used for jsp)
    2. Weblogic 5.1 as app server on a different host behind the firewall (used for
    ejb)
Both are running on Solaris 7.
How do I configure these two instances of weblogic to talk to each other? I have
checked the documentation but there was nothing on this scenario. Any help would
    be highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

So that means we have to have both apache and weblogic running as a
webserver in order have weblogic serve jsp request and apache to serve
    static page request
if we do not want to replace apache as a webserver. Correct ?

The plug-in connects to WebLogic using HTTP. So, if you want to have
WebLogic answer HTTP requests, you need to enable the HTTP daemon usingthe
    property that you noted below.

  • Configuring weblogic's internal webserver for clustering

    Hi
I have created a weblogic cluster running on 9001. The cluster has 2 managed servers running on 8001 and 8003. I can access the application depolyed on the cluster by using http://localhost:8001/Appname & http://localhost:8003/Appname.
I was wondering if there is any way to configure weblogic internal webserver to actually use the cluster. I don't want to use external webservers like Apache etc , because I don't have enough memory in my machine.
I can't see any document describing this in bea website, Can somebody help please?
              Vijay

There is no way you can avoid additional memory usage(unless you have hardware loadbalancer that is configured to route request to the weblogic cluster).
If you do not want to use other webservers, you can always use HttpClusterServlet as proxy mechanism to cluster.
All you need to do is create another managed server and host the httpclusterservlet webApp on that managed server.
(you can host the HttpClusterServlet on admin server itself but its not recommended approach though)

  • How to install and configure WebLogic 10.3 to use 64-bit JDK?

    Hi,
Is there a preferred/supported way to configure WebLogic to use the 64-bit JRockit that comes with JRockit Mission Control?
I can't find any official documentation about how to configure WebLogic to use a 64-bit JDK. From other forum posts I can tell we need to use the 64-bit JRockit that is bundled with JRockit Mission Control (available at [http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jrockit/index.html]) but then we are kind of stuck - the configure script which let me select a JDK for a domain doesn't seem to let me re-configure an existing domain, and I can't find anything within the admin console that would let me set the JDK to use.
I was able to rename the existing jrockit_160_05 directory to e.g. jrockit_160_05_original and then rename the jrmc directory to "jrockit_160_05", effectively taking the place of the JDK being used but this seemed like a bad way to do it. I also found via Google this page: [http://java.sodeso.nl/application-servers/bea-weblogic/how-can-i-change-the-jdk-installation-that-weblogic-uses] which basically says to modify the JAVA_HOME environment variable in the start scripts, but this seems like the same thing.
With the plethora of products and the different ways they are bundled, combined with all the documentation about everything, I thought I would find something but I keep coming up blank. Does anyone have suggestions or pointers?
    Thanks,
    KaJun

Make sure your environment configuration is supported here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/fusion_certification.html
Then, you need to have the correct 64bit JDK installed. Sounds like you have done that.
Then download and run the generic platform installer as described here with your 64bit supported JDK:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/doc.1111/e14142/start.htm#i1077535
Notice how the link you post has the generic installer for all the 64bit JVM rows, but the other installer for the 32bit JVMs on the 64bit OS?

  • How can I configure a party such that this party can submit both 4010 and 5010 transaction?

I try to configure a party such that this party can submit both 4010 and 5010 transactions.
I encounter error related to ISA11 field.
When I submit a 4010 transaction, I need to uncheck the 'Use ISA11 as repetition separator' box in the X12 Interchange Processing Properties page of the party.  If not I will encounter error if the character 'U' in ISA11 appears as content inside
    the transaction.
On the other hand, if I submit a 5010 transaction and left the 'Use ISA11 as repetition separator' box uncheck, I will encounter the following error:
    Error: 2 (Field level error)
         SegmentID: ISA
         Position in TS: 1
         Data Element ID: ISA11
         Position in Segment: 11
         Data Value: ^
        7: Invalid code value.
The character in ISA11 in 5010 transaction is '^'.
Is there any setting or trick I can use such that I don't have to adjust the 'Use ISA11 as repetition separator' box everytime a different version of EDI is submitted by the party.

    Hi,
The problem you are describing is not because of Version of the document but actually it is because of different kind of ISA11s you are using for one party. It can happen with the same verion document as well.
So for solving it You can right a pipline component and put it before edi-receive pipeline component. In this pipline component you can search ISA11 and replace with 'U' if you do not want to use it.
But I think the problem will come further becauase if you have '^' in ISA11 then most probably you would be using it in document as repetition separator. So please check if you are not using '^' in the doc and then apply this pipeline component.
    Thanks

  • Can I use both SID and SERVICE_NAME in my DG configuration?

    Hello,
Need little guidance for the following senario
I've got a shared database where more then one application connects to. To configure failover from primary to standby, I need SERVICE_NAME'ing but my applications connect using SID naming conventions to this DB
Can I use both SID and SERVICE_NAME in DG configuration + make the applications failover to STANDBY DB as well?
    Regards,
    Kam

You will hardly achieve a proper connect to your new Primary using SIDs after switchover.
Stay away from using SID - connects with your applications and use application services for that instead.

  • How to install and configure ms exchange server 2007 both role hub and edge transport role in one network

How to install and configure ms exchange server 2007 both role hub and edge transport role in one network

    Hi,
Edge role is design for perimeter networks, to keep security risks minimum.  So it’s not recommended to have edge role in internal network. Must have separate network or subnet for edge services.
If you are playing around it in labs, then you can put edge role within same subnet as other exchange roles and no specific requirements in that case.
    Thanks.

  • Configuring dynamically loaded VI's search directory for both 64 and 32bit

    Background:
I have an application that has been developed, built in LV2012 32bit.  It needs to run on a 32bit and 64bit machine (Win7, I understand the application itself will only ever be 32bit, but it needs to run in both environments).  The application dynamically loads a bunch of VI's which are raw vi's on disk (think just copy directory of files over from developer machine to the target machine that already has a exe running -- and just a copy, not a build of any sort).  All of these dyanamically loaded vi's at some point reference vi.lib, so I have a few things I need to do to the application to get it to work
    a) within the .ini file for the running exe viSearchPath=......C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2012\<<bunch of directories>>\*
    b) within the VI object cache directory, I have a lvDistPath.txt file that includes C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2012
This works just fine for when I deploy these files and run the application on a 64bit version of Win7.  However, when I try to run the application on a 32bit version of Win7, it breaks -- LabVIEW is installed in C:\Program Files\.... (no (x86)).
I am stuck with the dynamic loading architecture we have, and I can't start making changes to my code because it's not my code that is specifying where to find the files -- it's LabVIEW's internal searching algorithm.
What can I do (short of managing two separate .ini & .txt configuration files, one set each for x86 and 64bit and managing two separate installers) to get around this problem?

It sounds like you really don't have a problem with a 32 bit app vs. a 64 bit app.  It sounds like a problem with file paths being different on a 32 bit app on 32 bit windows vs. a 32 bit app on 64 bit windows.
    Two things you could do.
    1.  (Not sure this would work.)  Put 2 paths in the search directory, one for c:\program files path for 32 bit windows, and one for c:\program files (x86) for 64 bit windows.  One or the other will exist.  I don't know if something will hangup if it searches the other path that doesn't exist.
    2.  Since you are dynamically loading the VI's, you should specify the path when you are dynamically loading them rather than having LV search for them.  There is a function called Get System Info in the File I/O >> File Constants palette that will return the path to the Program Files folder for you environment so that you can build on that to get to your dynamic VI path.

  • How to configure automatical startup of both ASM and Database

I created a ASM and a database that uses this ASM for file storage management. I also edit the /etc/oratab file as followings:
    +ASM:/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/asm:Y
    orcl:/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1:Y
However, when I reboot the system, both ASM and database instances cannot be started up automatically.
How can I configure automatical startup of both ASM and Database at system reboot?
    Thanks in advance!

    try the following
Create file called startdb.sh in $ORACLE_HOME/bin and put following line into startdb.sh and
change the permission of the file with following command.
    $vi $ORACLE_HOME/bin/startdb.sh
    su - oracle -c 'sh /oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/bin/dbstart'
Please replace /oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/ with your ORACLE_HOME
    $chmod 777 $ORACLE_HOME/bin/startdb.sh
Open /etc/inittab file and append following two lines in /etc/inittab.
    h2:35:once:/etc/init.d/init.cssd start >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null
    h3:35:wait:/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/bin/startdb.sh >/tmp/stdb.out 2>&1
If you have h2,h3 in the inittab file please feel free to change it to h4,h5 or whatever is unique, but it has to be unique name
Please replace /oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/ with your ORACLE_HOME.
Reboot machine and check out whether both instances are getting started or not. Please check $ORACLE_HOME/startup.log for more information.
