Configutil Error

Hi,
We have two separate LDAP server, 1) for messaging server config and 2nd) for Users/Groups..... We are trying to change some of the parameters through configutil, and facing the following error:
[09/Mar/2008:14:42:58 +0300] lmspmbx1 [2830]: General Error: func=config_writedriver_psetinit; error=could not access server's configuration in ldap: Failed to open local cache
NO Unable to set option(store.partition.primary.path)
We can manually browse the configuration through LDAP browser BUT when we try to change it, it gives us the above error......??
We are running:
Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2-4.03 (built Sep 22 2005)
libimta.so 6.2-4.03 (built 04:37:42, Sep 22 2005)
SunOS mbx1 5.10 Generic_120011-14 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V490
Any Help ????

    We're experiencing imap problems that appear to be load related, and have had to restart mail services several times to restore service. The imap logs show a large number of socket errors. The server load average is in the 1-2 range; there's no apparent memory resource problem. We're seeing 600-1000 simultaneous imap sessions, which is a higher number than in the past. We run JMS & Communications Express on dedicated V490 SPARC server with 8GB of memory. We're planning to add an additional 8GB this Friday.
    Our imap configuration settings are as follows:
    -bash-3.00$ configutil | grep service.imap
    service.imap.enable = 1
    service.imap.enablesslport = yes
    service.imap.idletimeout = 30
    service.imap.maxsessions = 4000
    service.imap.maxthreads = 250
    service.imap.numprocesses = 1
    service.imap.objectclass = top
    service.imap.plaintextmincipher = 0
    service.imap.port = 143
    service.imap.sslcachesize = 0
    service.imap.sslport = 993
    service.imap.sslusessl = yes
    Can you suggest additional troubleshooting steps? Do you recommend any configuration changes?
    Thanks.

    1. Our JMS version info doesn't state whether it is 32 or 64-bit. Therefore, I assume we are running a 32-bit version. Is that correct?Correct. There is no 64-bit version of MS6.2.
    2. Is there a virtual memory limit on the 32-bit version of JMS 6.2? Is the limit greater for JMS 6.3?The Solaris OS imposes the virtual memory size limit of ~3.75GB for all 32bit processes on SPARC. 64-bit processes have a much much larger limit.

    I started getting this error message for the first time today. When I look in the event log I see it every time anyone tries to sync to a mobile device to the exchange server. I've also had this problem trying to connect using
    Outlook. I believe it is an IIS issue but I'm not absolutely sure so I'm posting this in the Exchange forum as well.
    The event viewer has the following information...

    I have tried most, if not all, of the different post's suggestions to no avail.
    The steps I have taken are as follows...
    1. Repaired .Net 4 (Both the client and extended)
    2. Uninstalled and reinstalled .Net Framework 4.0.
    3. Verified that the dll exists.
    4. Checked the applicationHost.config file. It contains the follow statement...
    <add name="ServiceModel-4.0" type="System.ServiceModel.Activation.ServiceHttpModule, System.ServiceModel.Activation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" preCondition="managedHandler,runtimeVersionv2.0"
    />
    5. Changed the following line in web.config to include the runtimeVersion...
    <add name="ServiceModel" type="System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule, System.ServiceModel.Activation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" preCondition="managedHandler,runtimeVersionv2.0" />
    6. Executed aspnet_regiis.exe -iru from the ...\Framework64\v4.0.30319 directory.
    7. Went to inetpub\history to use an applicationHost.config file from yesterday but it only has history from 9PM tonight. It probably had what I needed before I started changing it tonight.
    I still receive the same error message.
    Like I said everything was working yesterday. In fact I didn't hear or see any issue until after 1PM today.
    Any help would be very appreciated!

    Hi,
    Please confirm whether users can access their mailboxes from Outlook Web Access or not. We can do the following changes to have a try:
    1. In IIS > Application Pools, change the .NET Framework Version to v2.0 and restart IIS service.
    2. If it doesn’t work, explore the Default Web site.
    3. Renamed the web.config file to web.config.old
    4. Reset IIS using iisreset command to have a try.
    Thanks,
    Winnie Liang

    Disabling the event polling has helped to some extent. I did not have any Command cache properties set and had event polling enabled. This came by default. Oracle support rep has told that he had seen miscellaneous errors with enabling the event poll while the chache properties are not set.
    This has helped when I deploy cis-admin application to the Oracle 10g app server on a windows machine but again, when I do the same on another machine i.e. a unix machine (I doubt if operating system would be the cause) it did not work.

  • Getting error when trying to enable ssl over pop3

    We are using SunOne Messaging Server v5.2 on Solaris 9
    We followed the below steps:
    1. Create a trust database password for "Internal (Software) Token"
    2. Obtain a certificate
    3. Install the certificate along with CA certificate.
    4. The certificate is installed with the name "Server_Cert" and is shown as trusted in the "Certificate Management"
    5. configured ssl over pop3 using configutil
    6. stop and start the services.
    The Configutil changes made are as below:
    nsserversecurity = on
    encryption.rsa.nssslactivation = on
    encryption.rsa.nssslpersonalityssl = Server_Cert
    encryption.rsa.nsssltoken = "Internal (Software)"
    service.pop.enablesslport = yes
    service.pop.sslport = 995
    We saved the below in the sslpassword.conf:
    Internal (Software) Token:mypassword
    After restarting the services, pop3 over ssl is not working.We also checked "netstat -an -P tcp | grep 995" and it shows nothing.
    The logs are showing the below error:
    "[22/Apr/2006:15:46:58 -0300] mail popd[26352]: General Error: SSL initialization error: Didn't find certificate Server_Cert (-8157)"
    Please advice a solution for the same. I am unable to figure out the problem.
    Your help will be highly aperciated .

  • SMTP Error using webmail

    Hi everyone,
    I'm sort of new so pardon my ignorance.
    I am having problems sending from webmail. I get the following popup error message "SMTP Error". No problems from email client.
    I have already checked service.http.smtphost=logical ip and service.http.smtpport=25.
    I am running IMS5.2 HotFix 2.01 on solaris 9. Sun Cluster 3.1u4. Any advice/help will be much appreciated. Thank you.
    Parissa

    Um, that message DID NOT come from Messaging Server, unless you've customized it.
    Yes, you need to restart most any time you change a configutil setting.
    Webmail is not guranteed to work when connecting to anything other than our Messaging Server.

  • SMTP Error when trying to send: saveSmtp failed

    We installed iplanet messaging 5.2 on our cluster and when we try to send mail through the web interface we get an error that just says SMTP error. The logs displays these error messages:
    Network Warning: saveSmtp: connect() failed
    General Warning: saveSmtp failed: SMTP Error
    If anyone knows what is causing this please help me out.
    Thanks,
    RM

    Use configutil and make sure service.http.smtphost is set to your SMTP server. It defaults to localhost and you probably don't have anything listening on localhost:25.

  • Consuming portlet get error ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR

    hi all,
    i got a strange error when consuming portlet in webcenter portal application.
    i'm using jdeveloper 11.1.1.5 and webcenter framework extension 11.1.1.4
    i have a Portlet Producer Application and a Standards-based Java Portlet (JSR 286) in it.
    The view page of the portlet is a jspx file (view.jspx)
    There is a raw af:table component in the view.jspx file (with no data binding)
    At this time, run the view.jspx in the portlet producer application.
    The view.jspx page shows up in the browser and looks fine just as expected.
    After deploying the portlet to WLS, i include the portlet to the WebCenter Portal Application's home.jspx as an ADF Rich Portlet (from the WSRP Producer in IDE Connections) and run the Portal project.
    Wierd thing happens, a short time after the home page shows up in the browser, the portlet with an af:table in it shows up, but the portlet refresh itself repeatedly and an error is printed in the WLS log:

    But the same practice goes on well in jdeveloper 11.1.1.3 with webcenter framework extension 11.1.1.3
    What is the problem ?

    Hi Yannick,
    Thanks for you reply.
    I have edited the question with more details.
    For your questions:
    The error happens when the WLS try to render the portlet for the first time. (a short time after the home page shows up in the browser)
    I'm a starter in webcenter & portlet, so i'm not sure if i use any portlet specific objects. I just create a Standards-based Java Portlet (JSR 286) with almost all the steps in default except in step 3 of 8, i change the view.jsp to view.jspx. In the portlet, i use ADF BC tech & ADF Faces. (There are readonly VO's from database 10g and AMs)
    I think i got the error during PPR. (when the WLS try to render the portlet for the first time)
    BTW: in the WebCenter Portal Application's home.jspx, i include the portlet as an ADF Rich Portlet from the WSRP Producer in IDE Connections.

  • SMTP ERROR in Messenger Express

    This is iMS 5.2.
    You compose a message in messenger express, click send then a greeted by a small popup window with the comtents that simply read "SMTP ERROR". In the http log (/msg-luke/log/http/http) you find:
    [12/Jul/2002:15:18:26 -0500] luke httpd[15226]: General Notice: lebond[192.168.1.6] created message <[email protected]>

    15:18:20.74: SMTP routine failure from SMTPC_ENQUEUE
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    I'm not convinced that these two log entries are related, could be, but I do not think so right now.
    In configutil have you defined, service.http.smtphost? If not, the default, then it is set to localhost. Can you telnet localhost 25?
    If you get a response on port 25 on the same machine then I would increase the log level of the MTA and try from webmail again. It is upsetting that the webmail client does not give you more of an error message, it really should.

  • "smtp error" in webmail when sending mails

    Hello,
    "smtp error" in webmail when sending mails
    why?

    With the very little data offered, I can only give a general idea.
    "smtp error" usually means that webmail isn't pointed to a smtp server for sending out mails.
    Webmail normally (by default) points to the same box it's on for sending mails out. You can change the host and port with configutil.
    Some versions of webmail must point to iMS, and other mail servers won't work. Since I have no idea what version you have, I can't tell if this is a problem.
    Did it ever work?
    What version are you using?

  • Convergence 1u3 error

    I am currently using Convergence 1u3, and I have a user who receives the following error when logging in:
    "The request to the server has failed. The server may be down or the request contains invalid arguments. Please try the action again after a short time."
    Once receiving this error, the page hangs and doesn't go any further. It should also be noted that this user has a relatively large number of mail folders. (~900) I did not see anything in the Convergence log that jumped out at me regarding this user. Also, I'm not sure if this is the cause of the above message but when the user attempts to login with Safari v4, the activity window shows the listfolders.mjs is timing out right before they receive the message. Logging on with Firefox also gives the same error. However, if the user reloads the page after receiving the error, it will usually log them in successfully.
    My account has around 150 mail folders and I never receive this error.
    Any ideas?

    I did not have that set originally, but I just added it with configutil and I have refreshed all of the mail backend servers. The user is still occasionally getting the error.

    <LI>Why is the "postmaster" a group?
    <P>
    By convention, this is an LDAP group created at installation. Since postmaster
    is a shared role, a postmaster group of one is created upon installation. As a
    group, additonal email members can be added easily.
    Technical Support is not aware of any issues with a postmaster user, but this configuration is not supported.

    Hi Mikhail,
    first of all, if your an official SAP customer, then please open OSS/CSS messages for such cases.
    However, if you've got a Preview installation or similar, then we could proceed as is.
    To solve your issue, we'd recommend a <b>recovery using the latest data backup available</b>.
    To find out the cause of the problem (i.e. to find out what causes the problem with the blob/long), we'd need either:
    1. system access* (pcAnywhere/WTS),
    or even better:
    2. your latest data backup AND we'd need you to put the DB instance into ADMIN mode and make a LOG backup. We'd need that Log backup then too.
    This might get time consuming, so if you prefer a 'quick' around the problem, we suggest to perform the mentioned recovery.
    Kind regards,
    Roland
    *: concerning system access: we can only access official SAP customer systems going over saprouters.

  • PAB_CMD_GET_PABS returns error code 15

    hi,
    i'm running iPlanet Messaging Server 5.0 SP2 on Solaris with Netscape Directory Server 4.12.
    I encountered this error 'PAB_CMD_GET_PABS returns error code 15' when i access mailbox's addressbook.
    Does anyone know what could have caused this and how to resolve?
    many thanks..
    -AL.

    I think it is only due to the account "msg-admin-xxxxxxxx" which is created when installation and used for iMS' bind dn to search LDAP server for user looking_up.
    The old msg-admin-xxxxxx's password does match the one in your new system ( Mainly at 2 places: one is ugldap......, and the other is pab...... - you may run <serverroot>/msg-<instance>/configutil |grep ugldap and ...grep pab to find the correct entry).
    My solution is to run ...../configutil -o xxxxx.xxx.xxx -v "password" to the 2 entries then restart your msg services. Try pls.
    good luck.
