Convergence 1u3 error

I am currently using Convergence 1u3, and I have a user who receives the following error when logging in:
"The request to the server has failed. The server may be down or the request contains invalid arguments. Please try the action again after a short time."
Once receiving this error, the page hangs and doesn't go any further. It should also be noted that this user has a relatively large number of mail folders. (~900) I did not see anything in the Convergence log that jumped out at me regarding this user. Also, I'm not sure if this is the cause of the above message but when the user attempts to login with Safari v4, the activity window shows the listfolders.mjs is timing out right before they receive the message. Logging on with Firefox also gives the same error. However, if the user reloads the page after receiving the error, it will usually log them in successfully.
My account has around 150 mail folders and I never receive this error.
Any ideas?

Have you configured the Messaging Server store.dbtmpdir setting to point at a temporary file-system (e.g. "/tmp/msg-hostname" on Solaris)?
I did not have that set originally, but I just added it with configutil and I have refreshed all of the mail backend servers. The user is still occasionally getting the error.

  • Disable avatar image upload option in Convergence 1u3

I would like to be able for users to have avatar images (populated by Administrators) from within Convergence 1u3 but I do not want to allow user's to be able to upload their own image. Is it possible to disable the "Upload new avatar" and "Restore default avatar" menu items? Please note that we will be blocking external access to our IM servers to prevent users from using XMPP IM clients (i.e. Pidgin), thereby allowing them to use their own avatar images that way.
    Thanks,
    Jim

  • Convergence 1u3 Login Error

On occasion, when users log into our Convergence server, instead of showing their mail, they get an page with what looks like the output of an XML message resembling the following:
    <iwcp error-code="0">

      <message>Success</message>
      <sessionIdKey>JSESSIONID</sessionIdKey>

      <nextURI>/iwc_static/layout/main.html</nextURI>
      </loginResponse>
      </iwcp>
and nothing else. However, if they reload the page, they will usually get right in. Has anyone seen this before? We have applied Convergence patch -14, but this happened before we applied the patch so we don't think it's an issue with the latest patch.

What is the Browser?, Is it happening on particular browser version?
    Do you have reproducible steps?

I have a few users who have reported that certain messages don't completely display in Convergence, while the entire message shows up just fine in Thunderbird. Upon taking a closer look at the problematic messages, it appears that they have nested MIME boundaries. Below is an example:

Aha! It was caused by the AdBlock Plus FireFox extension. Disabling ABP for the domain caused the page to work again (after clearing the browser cache). One suggestion of a colleague regarding ABP was to check whether you are loading any remote images/files etc. via your "../layout/css/wisc.css" file?Good suggestion. But no, they are all relative local paths.
Is there a way that Convergence can be modified either:
    - to not exhibit this behavior with ABP? (since this isn't an ad, this behavior might be a bug with ABP or Convergence)Without working out why ABP triggered I can't provided any suggested fixes. So, this doesn't happen to you?
    - or detect if ABP is running and warn the user that the client may not function?By definition, an Ad blocking product should not be detectable, otherwise this knowledge could then be used by the web-master for nefarious purposes.
That being said a quick google search showed a few ways to detect add-blocking software e.g.
    http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/how-to-detect-adblock-plus/
You could then update the "warning" div on the login screen (login.js) in the same fashion as Convergence currently does when firebug is enabled.
    if (console["firebug"]) {
    dojo.byId("warning").innerHTML=l10n.login_firebug_on;
ok. I'll keep that in mind if it becomes a problem.

  • Searching Corporate Address book in Convergence 1u3

It appears that searching by surname in the corporate address book is not working in our deployment of convergence: display name and and uid works. This is the value in our iwc config
    ab.corpdir.[default].searchattr = entry/displayname,@uid,person/surname
Is that correct, if not what should I set?
    TIA,

  • How to remove the "Subscribe to folder" option in Convergence 1u3

It is my understanding that there is a known bug in Messaging Server 7 which doesn't allow you to share folders across different message store hosts. We currently have a Comm Suite 7 set up with 4 multiplexors and 4 mail back ends, so this is like to crop up from within Convergence. Because of this, I would like to remove the menu option to subscribe to a folder from with the MailNavigator widget, I know that you need to add a line to:
<app_server_docroot>/iwc_static/c11n/allDomain/js/customize.jsand then create the referenced js file, but I am unsure what code to put in it.
    Thanks!

  • Convergence 1u3 Calendar issue

I'm having a weird issue with Convergence. At some point something happened to where a user could no longer load or see their calendar from within Convergence. It was working at one point, but now they log in and when they click on the Calendar button, the interface just sits there and never loads their calendar. It's only a couple users experiencing this problem at the moment. No changes have been made to the Convergence or Calendar system. If the user logs into Calendar Express, they can see their calendar no problem, so this leads me to believe it's a Convergence issue. I've cranked up the logging on the calendar server and Convergence to DEBUG but nothing sticks out as to what the problem might be. I have also backed up the user's calendar with csexport, and deleted it, and used csimport but that did not fix the problem. My next thing to try is to totally wipe the calendar and the user's calendar-related LDAP entries, have the user log in which autoprovisions a new calendar, re-import their calendar data and see if that fixes it (this has worked in the past for other issues) However it would be nice to find the problem and prevent it from happening for other users in the first place.
Anybody else seeing anything like this?
    Thanks,
    Jim

  • Removing Forward menu option within MailFilterDialog in Convergence 1u3

I followed the directions at the bottom of the following page:
    http://wikis.sun.com/display/CommSuite/Removing+Change+Password+and+Vacation+Message+Options

  • Task view timing out in Convergence

    Good Morning,
Currently testing Convergence and Calendar server:
    Product: Convergence 1u3
    Version: 1.0-12.01
    Basedir: /apps/msg/iwc
    Build Date: 20100116
    Product: Calendar Server 6.3
    Version: 6.3-20.01
    Basedir: /apps/cal/calendar
    Build Date: 20091023
I currently have a user that has roughly 800 tasks items in Convergence. When they attempted to click on tasks in Convergence, they receive the following message in IE after a couple of minutes: "Stop running this script? A script on this page is causing Internet Explore to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive."
Is there a parameter in Convergence or Calendar that needs to be adjusted to allow the displaying of this many task items?

Do they still see this issue if they use Firefox 3.5?They are using IE8. I still see the same issues with Firefox 3.5 and 3.6

Is there a parameter in Convergence or Calendar that needs to be adjusted to allow the displaying of this many task items? The javascript error indicates that there is a performance bottleneck somewhere. This could be at the server-side (taking too long to retrieve / process / send the calendar task data to the client) or client-side (taking too long to parse/process the task data).

  • IMAPS Errors

    Hi Guys,
    Info:
    Messaging Server 7u3 (7.3-11.01)
    Comms DSsetup 6.4 (6.4-5.05)
    Convergence 1u3 (1.0-10.01)
someone today pointed to me that he frequently has errors when sending a message, the error is:
"Message sent but save copy failed"
he is using Thunderbird 3.04 and he says that also happens with webmail, so I went to the imap logs and i see many errors like
    [11/Jun/2010:13:01:35 -0400] mail imapd[4226]: Network Error: Socket error [192.168.2.1:4828] : I/O function error

the person was trying to send simple message, (no file attached).
I've plenty of space on the /mail/store
any idea what could be the issue
    thanks a lot

    Hi,
yes, they are from different ports, the address 192.168.2.1 is the IP od the firewall from where the request are coming in. The firewall does a full NAT (source + destination)
now, I start to doubt if Full NAT is the right thing to do or only DNAT, I got these errors all the time in */opt/sun/comms/messaging64/log/imap*

most of users don't seem to be affected or receive error messages on their side, but others receive this message "Message sent but save copy failed" using Thunderbird 3.04 or webmail, are these errors related with the imaps logs ?

  • Convergence not displaying all of Mulitpart MIME messages

Occasionally a message will come through, readable in IMAP, and even in Comms Express 6.3, but it's blank in Convergence 1u2.
Invariably said message will always start with:
"This is a multi-part message in MIME format."
And in Convergence the rest of it is blank. Here's an example. The part that says "For those planning to go, Chotchky's at 5:30pm." is not visible in Convergence, but is visible over IMAP and in CE 6.3:

    Shane,
After a long delay I'm looking at this issue again and your initial argument for the bug doesn't seem to hold true. We've switched mailing list providers since, which has resolved the "space on blank line" issue and the incorrect placement of the "multi-part MIME" message (at least for messages sent in plain text). Convergence (1u3 now) takes the header MIME portion, duplicates it, and does not display the message content.
    As the message source appears:
    Content-type: multipart/mixed; boundary="----------=_1277239432-28582-15"
This is a multi-part message in MIME format...
    ------------=_1277239432-28582-15
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"; name="message-header.txt"
    Content-Disposition: inline; filename="message-header.txt"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    X-Mailer: MIME-tools 5.427 (Entity 5.427)

  • Question about Convergence per-domain customized login pages

    hi,
Recently I installed JES 7 with Convergence 1u3 and have two domains:
    The default is defaultdomain.com
test.com is my second hosted domain
I would like to have different login page one per domain. So far I did this:
    iwcadmin -w test123 -o client.{test.com}.loginpage -v "/iwc_static/layout/login-test.html"
And copy login.html to login-test.html and modify it.
    Also did an appserver restart.
    If I try this URL:
    http://mail.test.com/iwc_static/layout/login-test.html
I can view the html page and enter to the convergence without problem.
But my question is the following:
    If I try this URL:
    http://mail.test.com/iwc
    I get a redirect to:
    http://mail.defaultdomain.com/iwc_static/layout/login.html?lang=en&10.01_182620&svcs=abs,im,mail,calendar,c11n
that behavior is correct? or am I missing something in my appserver/Convergence configuration?
    Thanks in advanced

Thank you Shane but still doesn't work.I tried your exact steps and still couldn't reproduce the problem you reported:
    ./iwcadmin -w password -o client.{test.com}.loginpage -v /iwc_static/layout/login-test.html
    cd /opt/sun/appserver/domains/domain1/docroot/
    cp iwc_static/layout/login.html iwc_static/layout/login-test.htmlRestart App-Server.
Edited "hosts" file on client browser system to point mail.test.com at Convergence server IP address.
    Accessed: "http://mail.test.com/iwc"
    Redirected to: "http://mail.test.com/iwc_static/layout/login-test.html?lang=en-us&10.01_183235&svcs=abs,im,mail,calendar,c11n"
When I enable AUTH debug logging (log.AUTH.loglevel = DEBUG), I also see a redirect message in the logs:
iwc.log:AUTH: DEBUG from com.sun.comms.client.web.auth.IwcAuthController  Thread httpSSLWorkerThread-443-0 at 2009-10-20 23:28:24,468 - Redirecting to: http://mail.test.com/iwc_static/layout/login-test.html?lang=en-us&10.01_183235&svcs=abs,im,mail,calendar,c11n If you still have no luck after reviewing this, I suggest you log a Sun support request.

Convergence 2 don't support Firefox 4 ?As you already pointed out, Firefox 4 is in beta therefore it hasn't been released and is therefore not supported by Convergence 2.
