Confirmation of dead router

Hello, Merry XMAS all, last night my area experienced a power outage (not the first) and now my router does not appear to be working as expected. I am thinking the router is dead. I have performed a soft reset sever times and a hard reset numerous times, but the power LED appears to be flashing at a rate around 5 to 10 Hz, the LEDs for the four Ethernet connections and the WAN LED are flashing at a rate around 2 to 3 Hz in sync. According the the following link if the power LED is flashing it indicates the router may be dead or probably is. http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Routers&thread.id=6874&view=by_date_ascending&page=2 From the ping activity I was able to capture the following: Request timed out. I am able to connect to the internet, but my IP appears to be my WAN address and this was confirmed by going to http://whatismyip.com/ I am assuming the Linksys router has a pass-though fail-safe mode and this is why my IP is my WAN address which is assigned by my cable provider. I am just looking for either confirmation or perhaps another way of correcting the issue. I am not able to obtain access to the router configuration page as I tried the default address of 192.168.1.1; even tried 192.168.0.1 and 192.182.172.1 (which I had assigned after configuration for the gateway address). Is there a way to get to the router's configuration page or reflash the device? I am hoping a reflash my fix the device, but I can't flash the device without a valid address. Any suggestions or should I get another router and put a surge protector between the outlet and the device this time around? Thanks Mark

  • Dead Router?

I believe I have a dead router. When you go to plug the router in, the last 5 lights light up for about a quarter of a second and then hide, unless if a internet connection was detected with the router. But the power light plugged in does not show, only a very dim light. I looked some info online, and it may be bricked, but with the info I am looking at, I think it is worse than that. Also, when I connect the router to my computer, I get a 169.254.*.* IP address, and the computer says "Limited or No Connectivity." Someone... HELP!

Before doing the following steps, you have to connect the modem to the
router's Internet Port and the computer to the Ethernet Port Number 1.
    1. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
    2. Then, unplug the power keep holding down the reset button for
    another 30 Seconds.
    3. Plug back the power back in, and keep holding down the reset button
    for 30 Seconds.
    4. Release the reset button.
Check the Ip address ... if not getting valid Ip ..assign the static Ip & try accessing the setup page ....

  • Dead router....again

Am I the only user that seems to have to buy a new linksys router every 8 months to a year?  I love linksys and will buy them forever since they tend to last longer than most routers out there, but I seem to have to buy a new one every year or so because the last one decided to die.
Before anyone asks, I own a small Managed I.T. business and use these on a regular basis.  I've done everything from the standard power cycling to flashing the router with the newest firmware.  The router is even well away from other items and has nothing nearby so overheating isn't an issue.
Right now my wrt160n has stopped working.  It drops all internet connection and now the wireless is completly dead.   Guess it's time to buy another.

Your router has lost it's configuration...You need to re-configure your router...

  • Adobe sent confirmation to DEAD email account

I have an account with Adobe, but I suppose they have a very old email address for me that is invalid.
After installing Adobe Elements 13 they sent a confirmation email to this dead email address.
Now when I try to login, after entering my birthdate(over and over and over), i get the screen telling my I need to confirm this email I have no access to.
Chat is not working, along I have gone through the multistep process about 10 times on 2 different browsers, cleared cookies, rebooted the Mac, etc.
Have I just thrown away the money buying this software?

I mean Terrence as in take back a message I sent to the wrong contact.  The wrong contact as in my boss's email. It went out as a text but I hit the wrong contact which was an email address.  Message part of my phone does not give any options other than edit where you simply check the box to delete.

  • Workflow on confirmation is not routed to goods-receipient

    Hi Guys,
We are implementing the shop on behalf (shop for) functionality. all functions are working fine , but we face a problem at the workflow for confirmation on goods&services.
We ceate a SC with the Shop for functionality (user1 shops for user2) and we specify that the goods receipient  is user1. The workflow (WS1040002) always goes to the requestor of the shopping cart (User2) for confirmation and not to the Goodsreceipient (user1) in the shopping cart.
Acording to the documentation the workflow should lead to confirmation by the goodsreceipient.
Can anaybody help me out ?
Or can anybody tell me where the agents for this worklflow are determined, or does anybody have experience with this flow and can point us to right solution.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Who created the confirmation in your case ? It depends on creator_type,
Go to SWO1 transaction, Business Object BUS2203, Attributes ApproverList.
Set the cursor at ApproverList, then select program button. Go dive the line
    695    PERFORM select_table_bbp_pds_header USING lv_subrc.
298  * 1) SC requestor is approving a good receipt created by recipient or
    299  *    vendor.
309  * 2) manager of the requestor is approving CF created by the requestor
315  * 3) manager of the requestor is approving CF created by recipient or
    316  *    vendor  ( 2nd approval step)
376  * The WFLCreatorType is other than 'Requestor' (i.e. Vendor, Profi). In
377  * this case the confirmation must be approved by a requestor of shopping
378  * cart. Take the approver name from the lt_approver.
385  * The WFLCreatorType is a 'Requestor'. In this case the confirmation

  • How to get bonjour to work on a wag120n router so ipad can print wireless to hp deskjet 3070A

Does anyone know of a fax to to get bonjour to work on a wag120n router so my ipad can see and print wireless to hp deskjet 3070A.  I can reach the home page of the HP printer from the ipad using safari but the printer doesn't come up as an airprinter option.   I have a PC laptop (not apple) and it can print wireless to the HP 3070A.
I have logged on to the wag120n and it has firmware V1.00.16
I can't see any multcast options within the admin setup.
Any clues ?  thanks for your time.

I have looked for multicast options/filter within the admin function on the router but can NOT see any.  I have contacted CISCO directly and they have confirmed that this router will NOT do it, and they have no intention on bringing out a fix.  If someone has got it to work, let me know.  thanks for your time.  Andrew

  • [SOLVED] Dead keys on console in UTF-8 locale

    Hello,
I want to share something interesting I found out about dead keys support on the Linux console (i.e., without X).
I live in Canada and use the "Canadian French" keyboard, which uses dead keys for several diacritical marks (e.g., to type ê I push and release the ^ key, then type the e key). It works perfectly under X, but I was unable to type any character using dead keys on the console. On the other hand, non-ASCII characters like "é" that do not use dead keys worked perfectly.
After some googling, I found many posts claiming the kernel did not support dead keys when the console was in Unicode mode. So I changed the locale to a non-UTF-8 setting in /etc/rc.conf, and indeed dead keys started working. But this was not useful to me, since editing UTF-8 files resulted in gibberish, and I did not want to regress back to Latin1 encoding or have to support both encodings. I tried many combinations of settings, but none worked. For a few days, I thought there was no way to have dead keys and Unicode working on the Console.
But then I started to install Arch Linux on another computer and noticed that when I set the keyboard to Canadian French with the "km" utility before installing (the keymap is called "cf"), dead keys worked, even though the locale was Unicode! So there was a way to do it.
I started digging and trying new things, and found out that after the following incantations, I was able to enable dead keys for Unicode on the console:
    kbd_mode -a
    sudo loadkeys cf
    kbd_mode -u
This sets the console to ASCII mode, loads the "cf" keymap, and sets the console back to Unicode. I found it by trial and error, and I have no idea why it works or whether it breaks anything. I'm posting here to ask if there are easier ways to have a functional Canadian French keyboard on the console, and to document what I did in case someone has a similar problem.

I have the exact same issue.
The weird thing for me is that before I was using gentoo and never had a problem with dead keys and unicode. Also, I confirm that dead keys is working when booting from the archlinux installation cd. Either run 'loadkeys cf' rigth after login or pass 'keymap=cf' as a boot parameter to the kernel line by editing it in grub before booting.
Your solution is interesting, however the cf.map.gz file is the same on the installation cd (and on my gentoo system) so it should works without editing it.
In my quest to solve this issue, I found something interesting. I added the 'keymap' hook in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and regenerated the image by issuing
    mkinitcpio -g /boot/kernel26.img
This alone didn't solved the issue, but then I REMOVED the keymap assignation in /etc/rc.conf (i.e. leaving it as
    KEYMAP=
), rebooted... and voilà, it now works.
    Furthermore, now if I run
    sudo loadkeys cf
after login it stops working (well of course because it's the same as defining KEYMAP="cf" in /etc/rc.conf). Issuing the 3 commands of your first post make it works again. OK so I did one more test: boot from the archlinux installation cd by adding the 'keymap=cf' boot parameter to the kernel line and then run 'loadkeys cf' after login to see if it breaks dead keys. But no, it still works.
So is this issue comes from a newer version of the kernel/loadkeys/mkinitcpio/...? How different is the kernel and initramfs images of the installation cd compared to the installed system ?

  • Third party router

My HH3 is slowly expiring, I decided rather than getting into a lenghty frustrating exchange with BT I'd replace it with a 3rd party router. It hasn't went well.
First replacement: TP-Link TLWR841N. I've download speed issues I can't reslove and sometimes on setup there's no WAN connection. Fustrated I moved on to ....
Second replacement: Belkin F5D8236-4. Thought it was working great (Download speed ways) and then I discovered that my BTTV IP channels don't work. My G4 YouView box conncts fine and all IP address match (Tried auto and manual assigment) But no IP channels or recordings. I assume it's something to do with Multicast settings but my brain shout down reading this rather lenghty thread.
    https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-Boxes/Multicast-Settings-for-3rd-Party-Routers-may-not-work/td-p...
I can't find any multicast settings in the router, can someone confirm that the router isn't suitable for BTTV or that they got one working. Ta.
<edit> Just put the TP-Link back in and confirm BTTV does work with it but I still have download speed issues.

    Hi,
My HH3 started misbehaving last month and BT changed it for a Home Hub 4 for free. The phone call to support wasn't too arduous - about 15mins on the phone and the new hub arrived next day.
Alternatively, pick up a HH4 on ebay. There's one on their right now for 99p + £3.20 postage with 1 hour to end of bidding!
I picked up a new HH4 on ebay last week, wasnt as cheap as above but I'd change out of £15
So 3rd time (router) lucky then, sounds like itmight have been easier to ring CS!

  • Sad iPad 2 Story (Dead Pixel + Bad Case)

    Guys,
I want to share this experience so that you may not end up like me. I will try to shorten the story, please bear with me.
Just last 10/25, my iPad 2 arrived, I knew that it had arrived because I was  informed via sms by my mother who received the unit. (Delivered to the house).
Excited, I bought this case  (http://capdase.com/minisite/ipad/en/...28&c3=28&id=96),  and when I got home, with utmost care, after removing the plastic, I  immediately placed the screen protector then insert the iPad in the  case.
The next morning, I find my iPad screen a bit warmer in color... I noticed it immediately given the number of iPads I have used at the office, friends and actually this is our second iPad 2.
After a few days, I now noticed a dead pixel, long story short, I  investigated, tested, and I believe I now have a dead red "sub-pixel". This is less than a week in use.
I emailed the store where I got this (from a promo) and I reported the screen to be a bit warmer (yellowish) and the dead sub pixel, they told me to bring the unit over so I did.
They have confirmed a dead red sub-pixel (based on wikipedia and apple) after I demonstrated that a pixel is "black" on red (wallpaper) and not on blue and green. (FYI LCD's are RGB's). They told me a replacement will be ordered in a week's time. I was so happy, because I can't stand a dead subpixel that is on the middle of the screen.
Today was the 7th day and the same day where I supposedly to surrender my defective unit, to my shock, surprise, they told me the unit have dents! I can't believe what I am hearing! The iPad never left the case from the day it went in there!
For illustration purposes, this is where they saw two (2) dents.
    (approximate location)
Because of the dents, they did not replace my unit, I have no choice but to surrender the iPad so that their main office will decide if this is still fit for replacement. OR just live with it (dead pixel) which is not also a choice for me.
My question is on what occasion did my iPad got the dents... obviously the Capdase case did not do its job. Or I was sold a dead pixel dented iPad 2.
If you are planning to buy this case, DO NOT BUY IT!!! If you have this case already, sell it! Buy a new one! Preferably cases which protects the entire border.
I went home today iPad-less. Sad, frustrated, unknown what will be the fate on Monday next week, the day they will tell me congratulations, you will get a new iPad or, Sorry, we cannot accept your dead pixel ed dented iPad 2.
All this drama, in just 2 weeks and 2 days.
I hope they will still replace it next week

I don't know if there will be any iPad repair DIY gurus on this discussion site a  but in case you get no other responses, you might be able to find some help here.

  • White IPAD2 64 3G - White dot underneath Screen, Dead pixel

    Hi,
I am residing in Stockholm,Sweden. i bought my ipad2 the day it was released here on march 25th.
3 days back, i noticed a dead pixel, which was visible while using safari. i have downloaded the pixfix app to confirm the dead pixel. the pixifix conducts few tests by changing the colors and the dead pixel was visible as black.
how ever, i switched off the ipad and to my astonishment, i can see a small white dust/mark underneath the glass with no visible scratches or anything. since i take care of my IPAD very well.
i had the same problem with my first generation ipad after few months which apple replaced it.
since then, i called apple in stockholm, and they directed me to go to Digitall Inn their premium reseller/support. this is the place I bought my ipad2. i went in there and the support guy(daniel) try arguing that it is not a dead pixel instead scratch. and he had no answer when i showed him the white dust/mark. he said one of their technicians will analyze and get back. this was happening last saturday.
its been two days since they never updated/called me, i called up digital inn and i was told that, they will take a photograph of the issues and send to apple. it will take 3 more days to get an udpate from apple. and he also offered me to take the ipad2 back or keep it in store. i told them i need a solution to this and till then they can keep it.
i am seriously surprised by the kind of support i am getting from digital inn. i have invested a lot in this device, and when it is defective, i dont understand the kind of support i am getting from this premium resller
    Dear Apple support,
please help me to resolve this issue of ipad2.
    Subramoniam AB

Yesterday afternoon at 1.01 pm, got a call from  the technician at digital inn, and he told me that apple had indeed sent a new ipad for me and i could go there to collect it.
well, i was thrilled by the sudden turnarround of events and i rushed from my place of work to get it.
so finally a brand new one, i beilive no refurbished stuff. bought a belkin verve folio from webhallen which is next to digitall inn in stockholm.
so glad that, go every thing fast rather than after 2-3 weeks.
    hi thenextbutton.
in stockholm, sweden, they dont have any apple stores but we have to go through thier premium resellers who has stores similar to apple store. hence for any issues, we are left with no choice but work with these folks. digitall inn is one of thier premium reseller.

  • Wireless Router Help

I recently moved this past week and I am trying to set up a wireless internet for my Macbook Pro.  At my old residence I could pick up the signal just fine, but at this new place, I can't seem to get AirPort to pick up a signal.  When I go into Network and check the Diagnostics, all the airport setting lights are green except for the bottom 2 (I believe they are Internet and Server.  Those 2 are Yellow.)  However if I disconnect the ethernet from the wireless router and plug it directly into my computer, I do receive a wireless signal.
Do I have to reconfigure my wireless router (since I did change from Charter to Time Warner) in order for AirPort to transmit the signal to my computer?  If so, how do I do that?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can Time Warner confirm that your router is compatible with their service?
You may need to reset your broadband modem to convince it to connect to a "new" device.  Depending on the model of modem, that can be as easy as removing power for a few moments.  If that doesn't work, remove power and wait 15 minutes.  Further reset steps can involve pressing a "reset" button or removing a battery if the modem has one.  In the worst case, your ISP may need to edit its settings to update to the MAC address of the new router.

  • OSPF prefer learned route over local

    Hey
I am deploying a new VPLS between 8 offices. The plan in to have all the offices get internet access through the main office. So basically all the satellite offices will only have access to the VPLS WAN link. The main office will advertize a default route to the rest of satellite offices over OSPF.
Each office currently has its own internet connection. I would like to maintain each office's internet connection until we have completed deployment of the VPLS and have thoroughly tested it.
So my question is this. How to i configure OSPF to prefer the learned default route, over the default route it has statically configured?
    thanks for your help
    Dan

    Dan
Without knowing the full topology it's difficult to say for sure but as a general answer you can't really.
Even if you tried to set the AD of OSPF to be the same as the static route, which I'm not sure would be a good idea, the locally configured static would have a better metric.
I think you are basically going to have to test by advertising out the default route via OSPF, making sure it is in the OSPF database at each site and then remove the locally configured default to test internet connectivity via your main branch.
Or you could try using PBR to bypass the routing table which would allow you to test central internet connectivity but it doesn't confirm your OSPF routing is working properly.

I am really surprise that External 4TB HD not working with this Such Hi-Fi Router. I am hoping it should really don't want to return these router.
Please Confirm if this router support the Following Newest USB 3 External Hard Drives. I have tried everything but its not working.

2 - Seagate Backup Plus 4TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive STDT4000100
    Thanks
    Faz

Have only 1 drive connected to the USB port. Restart the router and then map the drive. See if that works. The issue that I am having is that when I have only one drive (NTSF) connected to my WRT1900AC Router I can see it, no problem. The problem ocurrs when I install the second drive (FAT32) then it locks both drives and I can not map any of the drives either on mac or windows. I do see both drives on the Linksys Smart wi-fi browser (192.182.1.1) and tells me that both are connected, but thats about it. I am going to format both as NTSF and see if that solves the problem.
