Conflicting Dependencies [SOLVED]

I'm trying to build and install google-talkplugin from AUR.
I have checked/installed all dependencies except libgl.
I get the unresolvable package conflict error when trying to install it.
I don't want to remove  nvidia-utils.
How to resolve this?
[jeff@Arch2009p2 ~]$ sudo pacman -S libgl

No, not prior to taking care of dependencies.
ngoonee wrote:It seems you're trying to resolve dependencies by hand,
Yes regarding dependencies.
I also prefer to make and install AUR packages by hand as far as never tried any of the "helpers".
Seems to simple to further complicate.

  • Madwifi-ck conflicts madwifi [SOLVED]

    Hi
a few minutes ago I updated to the new ck kernel (kernel26ck-2.6.21.ck2-1) but it seems that its madwifi module (madwifi-ck 0.9.3-1) conflicts with the madwifi module for the plain arch kernel (madwifi 0.9.3-4). Can't I install them both? I'll file a bug if someone can confirm that it is one.

  • [solved] - conflicting dependencies - desktop stage of installation

    Goodday,
Installation to hard drive using USB drive with CD 2013.03.01
Installation went well and arch is up and running in text mode.
As is usual for me with Arch distros (or any other for that matter) I choose KDE for the graphical side of things.
Previous installations of arch (December release and February release) have proceeded from this point with no problems.
    Today's output from:
    pacman -S kde kde-l10n-en_gb
produced - after showing me the packages to be downloaded and allowing me to choose a phonon -
    error:unresolvable package conflicts detected
error:failed to prepare transaction (confilcts dependencies)
::kdesk-dev-scripts and kdesdk-scripts are in conflict
Has anyone come across this before? If so how did you get past this sticking point?
    Thanks,
    Hugh

Awebb wrote:Wait a while. Your mirror is not fully sync with the new packages yet. This happened to me yesterday as well, but with different packages. Pick a more recent mirror and update using Syyu. The problem should solve itself, as all KDE packages move to the new version.
Well I waited while - overnight in fact.
Went back to my full fresh Arch install with no Desktop Environment
ran reflector to make sure I had a properly synced mirror
    issued
    pacman -Syyu
accepted the two files offered for today's update
    then issued the command
    pacman -S kde kde-l10n-en_gb
accepted the default which is everything
    chose gstreamer-phonon when offered
then still get the conflicting files whic means the installation does not proceed
    pacman -Ss kdesdk-scripts
    produces
    kdesdk-scripts 4.10.0.2
    pacman -Ss kdesdk-dev-scripts
    produces
    kdesdk-dev-scripts 4.10.1-1
That they have different version numbers is fairly obvious.
Maybe another 24 hours will see the older package disappear.
edit: on my regular fully updated Arch install the package kdesdk-dev-scripts does not exist. So it looks like I can do without it!
another edit: emailed the maintainer who has fixed the conflict.
    marking post as solved.

Someone else may come along with a more elegant solution, but when I've been faced with that I situation I usually move (not copy, because it's complaining that it exists) the offending file somewhere safe, then try the upgrade again. Given the location you'll need to use root or sudo
    # mv /usr/bin/ldd32 /root
That way if the upgrade still doesn't complete, you can move the file back to at least maintain the status quo.
    Hope this helps,

  • Confused about testing/firefox dependencies [SOLVED]

In trying to install firefox-3.6.2 from testing, I get a message saying that there's a dependency conflict with fontconfig-ubuntu, which I installed some time ago in an attempt to improve my screen fonts.
When i check the explicit dependencies for firefox-3.6.2 in testing, I see only desktop-file-utils and xulrunner. When I check the dependencies for those two packages (desktop-file-utils in extra and xulrunner in testing), I still don't see mention of fontconfig.
Is there a way to work around this? I'd rather not undo my font display configuration just to test the current version of firefox, but I would rather use a firefox package for 3.6 than the mozilla.org package.
    Thanks for any advice.

  • PKGBUILD source conflict problem [solved]

I'm making a PKGBUILD for a game called noiz2sa.  The problem is, it comes in two separate pieces - one is the binary and the other is some extra files and when extracted they both have the same name - noiz2sa.  Because of this, when I put the both in the source= section and run makepkg, one of them inevitably gets overwritten.  Is there a way to fix this?
Edit: I couldn't find a delete option so I'm marking this solved - after reading the PKGBUILD man page again, the noextract option was what I needed to work around this issue.

  • Loemu PKGBUILD, need help with python dependencies [solved]

I'm having a hard time determining the depends for this python application. It uses gtk and glade, but namcap is unable to determine dependencies for python apps, I think. It complains that I am including not needed depends. I found a requirements list here:

that might give some clues, but I'm still struggling to determine what's needed until I can get home and run the application.
My PKGBUILD in case you're interested and think you can help. I'm sure I need glade for python in the depends line, but I can't find it in AUR or with pacman.

The trick is to install wxwidget and install the base libraries.
I have submitted the wxbase iibrary and amule to AUR.
    Below are the links.

    amule : http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=10499

    it is as easy as
    yaourt -S chromium-snapshot
Although, there are a number of other versions available. To have a look at them all and decide which one to install you can
    yaourt chromium
This will show you all available packages and then you can choose the one you want. After that simply follow the prompts. It will install all the required dependencies for you.

I did a pacman -Syy *right before* the bash display above. Trying to strive for brevity.
I'm very current - the only packages I *expected* to be upgraded were the kernel and klibc-udev. I was current otherwise as of 6 AM this morning. No idea where this is coming from.
FWIW, I use KDE3 as my primary D/E. It was installed after LXDE, but I didn't remove LXDE.
gnokii is required by kde3-kdepim, so we're talking a good 100 MB of disk trashing. If I have to remove and reinstall both (although the latter IS optional, I guess...).

You're doing an update and something is trying to install mesa-libgl which conflicts with the already installed nvidia-libgl.
Find out which package is it.
In your case it conflicts with catalyst-utils, not with nvidia-libgl.
