Confused beyond belief

I recently purchased a new Mac (1st one I've owned).  I set up I've set up iCloud and iTunes.  Now on my iPhone when an App needs updating it keeps saying I have an incorrect Apple ID or password.  I've followed the prompts to change the password &/or Apple ID.....here's where the trouble begins.....
If i try signing into iTune on my computer everything is fine, but I do the same on my iPhone and it's not.  So I make the neceassry changes  then it's like a domino effect,  then iCloud tells me I have an incorrect Apple ID or password.  I've tried searching the boards but I'm getting frustrated.  I've literally been working on this ALL day.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If I have one Apple ID for iTunes, iCloud, App store on the mac, app store on my iPhone - they all say I need different passwords.  So I change the passwords.  Then when I try to log on to any of the above mentioned it says I have an incorrect password.  I'm going around in circles.  Can't I just have one Apple ID and one password for iTunes, iCloud, App store etc?
Also - Some of my apps on my iPhone need updating but I'm unable to update because I can't remember which appleID and password I purchased them on.  This is a nightmare.

  • Really interesting bizarre bug in TreePath, I'm confused beyond belief

    Inside a large program, in which I use custom TreeModel instead of DefaultMutableTreeNode's etc, I have a following method which needs to recurse up a TreePath.
    This seems to be a MAJOR bug, because if you look in the following ten lines, I verify several times that the argument is non-null (and even return early if it is).
    However, at the line "while( ... )" it throws a NullPointerException! What, is the keyword "while" null ???!?!?! Because we know that tp is NOT null.
    We also know that we can call "tp.getPathCount()" because I do so and even print it out!#
    If you have any thoughts, please CC to [email protected], because at the moment I'm sure Sun will refuse a bug report (without more info) and I doubt I can make a small program that demonstrates this - otherwise surely it would have been found before!

    Oh dear. After prolonged testing, I realised the problem: when the TreePath is the root, it returns null as parent , which happens just before I do the test as to whether to carry on - I had originally put the test just before that, but had moved it to just afterwards, thereby causing the problem!
    Very foolish, really.

  • Frustrated beyond belief.   Trying to download the new Itunes 11 version so I can sync my phone.   It goes thru the whole process, says I was successful and then I get a message - "Apple Mobile Device Failed to start----retry, and retry, same message.

    On my desk computer, I tried to download the new Itunes 11 version.   I had Itunes 10.  It goes thru the whole process and then says "Apple Mobilve Devide failed to start, Verify you have sufficient privileges to start service.   I hit retry and then I get  Installation successful followed by error 126.   I can not enter Itunes at all now.   If I click on the former icon it says  MSVCR80.dll for error.   I can't even figure out how to ask for support on this website.   I have several devices linked to Itunes and need to sync.

  • Apple Maps and Yelp app integration....errors beyond belief

    Has anyone else ever experienced when you launch driving directions to a business from within the Yelp app, that even though Yelp has the address correctly, and will show it correctly on the map.....that Apple Maps gives completely innacurate directions, and in many cases will drive me going AWAY from the business.  The other day I had this happen again, and it had been awhile since I had used Apple Maps.  I figured I've heard that they are constantly improving so I decided to give it a try again.  I launched directions to a business from the Yelp app, and after driving for quite awhile I started to get suspicious.  Something wasn't right.  So I fired up Google Maps App, and sure enough, Apple was taking me in the opposite direction from the business!  It had put me on the correct road, but had me driving away from where I needed to be. 

    I am having the same problem. Patients are being led to the wrong side of the street for the following business location:

  • In serious need of help for huge Premiere Pro Picture glitch. Confounded beyond belief.

    Gents and ladies, I have been at this for two days and am in desperate need of help. Right now my editing in Premiere Pro is completely stalled due to a bizzare picture glitch. I am 100% stuck and unable to edit.
    When I add a picture to my bin, it's ok. Then I add a second and it seems fine. But any and all pictures I add after that show up as the first picture. Never mind that the name of the file appears correct.
    The picture itself, both the thumbnail and the picture in the timeline, etc. are just the first picture.
    I have rebooted,restarted, started new projects with new settings, cleared the Premiere Pro cache... NOTHING works.
    Video is not a problem. Only pictures. And I am now dead in the water as a result.
    Look at this screenshot. See how the other than the second picture they are all the same? Well, they shouldn't be. But they are. And I am stuck and unable to edit at all as a result.
    WTH is happening here?
    I have Premiere Pro 5 on a PC from Adobe Production Premium.
    One issue I have had recently is in the middle of editing Premiere Pro will start conforming video that has already been conformed prior.
    Begging for help here.

    I guess I should expect a snarky answer from someone named "Snarky McSnarkster." You are being quite rude. It is not helpful to tell someone to fix a glitch by buying new software. That is not a solution. I could just uninstall and re-install, but I am not going to risk losing all of my current projects if something goes wrong. That is like a thermonuclear option. And spending a grand on new software is insane when I don't need it. The software has been fantastic since I bought it. But glitches happen and so I have been in this forum before and always found a solution via some helpful experts.
    It is also absurd to call me disinterested when I have engaged with everyone here and answered all of their questions. Just because I have tried most of what has been suggested and explained as such does not make me the bad guy.
    As for Ann Bens' question: We have seen this issue in the past and re-save was the solution. Are these images RGB?
    Yes, most are RGB. Some I have tried are CMYK. I have tried jpegs, tiffs, bitmaps, png. I am completely clueless as to how this is happening.
    I am about to try opening Photoshop, opening a bunch of pictures and savings them to a new HD, then starting a brand new project.

    I am extremely frustrated with Adobe, beginning with selecting a screen name.  Why don't you give suggestions after the 10th failure?
    I have been receiving messages that I need to update adobe reader,  Flash player that supports adobe reader and Acrobat.  Every time I have tried (for weeks now), I don't have success.  When I hit proceed to download page command I receive a 3D data parsing error has occured message, but no instructions on how to fix error to complete download.  If i didn't need the download to read a certain pdf file I would have given up by now.

    I just came across this today and I had the same error as you did at our company. We actually reset our computers and did a fresh install and it was fixed. If you havent tried this I would give it a try. Usually Adobe is as solid as it comes. Good luck!

  • Syncing ***** beyond belief since the recent Iphone update - PLS APL FIX!!!

    I did a search on this forum for can't sync and got over 500 results. NONE of which has fixed my problem, and many many others are having the same problems.
    And no, my phone has not been hacked, altered, dropped or anything else.
    It all started the day of the last update.
    When I dock my phone now one of several things happens:
    1) Get Cant find disk error
    2) Get the dreaded spinning beach ball forever
    3) Get the always exciting: "The Iphone "My Iphone" cannot be synced.
    The device is not connected."
    4) Or it just gives the message in the top display window of itunes "Syncing "My Iphone"" and that happens indefinately
    5) Nothing happens, itunes just acts like my phone is not docked at all.
    6) It actual does sync, maybe one in ten times
    Here is what I do if I really really need to sync it, which takes about 45 minutes:
    a - repair permissions
    b - I go to user>library>application support>syncservices and put the folders in the trash
    c - restart
    d - repair permissions yet again
    e - start itunes
    f - dock Iphone
    This works about 50 percent of the time, but for only one single sync, then I have to start the entire process over again.
    None of this happened prior to the last Iphone software update, and seeing how there is a small army of people with syncing issues, I'm hoping this gets resolved quickly on apples part, or someone else has a fix for this.
    If anyone has a real fix for this that would be great.

    First, trashing the SyncServices folder can cause corruption that could be excerbating the issue you are experiencing. This is discussed in the "swarm of bees" article which can be found here:

    If you have done everything else short of removing the SyncServices folder, I would recomend calling into support, and referencing that article.
    What model of Mac are you using? If an iMac, is at PPC (G3, G4, G5) or Intel-based iMac?

  • Menus have garbage on edges (Snow) - Frustrated beyond belief...

    Ok, this is my computer: 2 x 2.66 Dual-Core Intel Xeon; 20 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM. I have three 30" displays. I started having display issues...two monitors have it and one doesn't. Two monitors run off an ATI Radeon X1900 XT and the other off the original card. The original card and one monitor is running fine and has no display issues. I deducted that it was highly probable it was the video card for those two monitors.
    I took it to a Mac Genius.
    They replaced the power supply and a MLB, W/O MPU (I think this is a display component on the motherboard).
    I took it home and it still had the problem. I took it back. They had it for about 2 hours and called and said that they saw the issue but when they booted it with their operating system, they could not replicate the problem, so they felt my system was corrupt and I needed to do a clean install.
    So as I am writing it now...I erased my Mac Volume, re-installed Leopard and updated the firmware on the ATI card as well from the Mac website.
    None of this has worked..I am to the point where again, it is the video card. I don't want buy it, if it is something else. I am also tired of taking it into the Genius if they can't fix it..it takes up half a day and this will be third trip.
    Any help from a fellow forum member or Mac Rep monitoring this would be appreciated.

  • Angry beyond belief!

    My ipod is dead after one year. All restore, etc. efforts have not worked. $400 and I got one year?!?!? I am very upset. Apple wants almost $300 to fix it because it is over a year old, and I want them to know how angry I am. This is my first Apple purchase, and I will never buy anything from them again if this is their idea of quality!!! Can anyone give me a contact numnber to talk to a representative? Does everyone's ipod die after a year? Should one have to pay $400 for one year of music? AAAAAAARGH...

    I join you in your anger and frustration. My my ipod which is just 13 months old is not working as it should. When I called HP about the problem they told me without an extended warranty there is nothing they can do for me. They offered to sell me a new one. I can pay them $45.00 and they can tell me that it is fixable or it isn't fixable. Without the $45.00 they don't offer any service other then this page. I and another person bought our ipod's within a month of each other and his too is not working properly. I am certain that this is a product defect and that the maker of the ipod is aware of the failure but unwilling to do anything about it. We need to stay aware and watch for a class action...I think that will come.

  • Frustrated beyond belief; can't play an MP3 file

    I know this can POSSIBLY be that hard, but I'm a total noob
    and the documentation is bewhildering at best.
    I have an ASP page that pulls data, and one field is the name
    of an MP3 file greeting.
    All I want to do is use the MediaPlayback component to play
    that file. That's all. No jukebox, no wild video, just play the one
    single file that I've specified.
    I put the MediaPlayback component on the page, and gave it
    the name
    player. In the Component Inspector I selected MP3,
    Automatically Play, and left the URL blank. (If I "hardcode" the
    MP3 filename in there it will play that single file, but I can't
    get it to play any other files). Saved the FLA with the name Player
    and then I publish the SWF into the same dir with all the MP3
    files.
    I tried using this code to play a file called Allen.mp3, and
    no matter what I do I cannot get it to play. I've tried Param URL,
    contentPath, all sorts of combinations thereof....

    Are your stereos capable of playing .mp3 files.
    Not all CD players are equal.
    as noted you can burn the message as an AIFF file then it would play in any CD player.

  • No contact about when they will come to fix phone ...

    OK so on Monday I noticed our line was crackling quite badly. Since Tuesday we have been unable to make or recieve calls. You can still here the dial tone but nothing is registering on the phone. Our internet, which isn't BT has also gone down. I did the check and it said the issue was close to my home. I think its the connector box at the front of the house. next doors phone however is fine. Anyway to cut a long story short. BT said they would send someone out within 3 days. My mother recently died so we have had lots of things to sort out and have badly missed not having a land line. I have waited in all week for someone to come, hopefully by tomorrow someone will have turned up, but do they give you any time or date? I expected a text at the very least to say someone would be here on so and so but nothing at all.

    I just thought i would update again. so it appears myself and one other person in my street are suffering the exact same problem with the phone. a 3rd person today lost their line around the time the repair guy was ''fixing'' the line from the network junction. Everyone else in the street remains uneffected so I'm not sure if water on the line applies. Contacted BT again and they told me openreach have until 23.59 tonight to fix the fault. I doubt we will see them at all again today so thats the 3rd day up but non of us effected have been given any details of what is actually wrong or when we can expect it to be fixed.
    I'm left confused beyond belief to be honest at the complete lack of communication. When I spoke to the adviser on the phone about 30 minutes ago he actually said the repair guy hadn't added his report about the fault to the system yet. This despite the fact he left at about 11am.
    Do openreach come out on a Saturday? because I am just clinging onto the tiniest of hope this might be fixed before Monday but its now looking so bleak. We now have no phone line at all and no internet. I'm just lucky we have a mobile that doesn't need to be topped up every five minutes.

  • IIS6 - W3C Compliant - WebHelp Explosions

    Here's an interesting issue that I would like to hear everyone's opinions regarding. I received an e-mail from my client's networking guy the other day stating that he was getting a random error every now and again when clicking on multiple topics in the WebHelp I created. I was confused BEYOND BELIEF! I had never run into a problem with this before, and I've created tons of help systems in the past. I would be interested to hear what you all think I could have done differently to prevent this from occuring. (Don't check the W3C Compliant checkbox, etc) It's a very interesting use case....and hopefully this helps someone else who may run into such a situation.
    He sent me this e-mail this morning saying that it's fixed...
    Error Message
    The issue with the error message showing after a number of page hits has been fixed.  The issue is with the headers on each file.  They are not proper for IIS6 due to a major flaw in IIS6.  I verified this without creating a virtual directory which means that these pages are served up as pure html and bypass my security.
    The solution is to delete the first 5 lines of every file and replace with the following.
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    The lines being removed are:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

    There is an article at http://w3.org/brief/MTE2 that explains this issue.  Basically, IIS is downloading the instructions on how to handle an XML formatted document from the w3 site every time a page is requested.  Since this document never changes, these unnecessary downloads are being treated as a Denial Of Service attack and our server’s IP eventually gets blocked.  The header that we are now using is more appropriate anyway.

    learned a VERY IMPORTANT LESSON about RH, IE, Firefox, Opera and
    image/hyperlink screen tips.
    I learned that IE6 "screen tip on hover" reads the RH "Image
    screen tip" entry but FF and Opera read the RH "Hyperlink screen
    tip" entry.
    THUS: to make IE and FF/Opera screen tips "appear" the same,
    one must enter the SAME screen tip into BOTH the Image Screen Tip
    text box and the Hyperlink Screen Tip text box!
    (Now, how long will it take me to check 3,000 images and
    hyperlinks in my current project?)

  • No Toolbar In Illustrator CS5

    Alright so I had a tool bar at one point and now it is gone.  I am fairly new to Illustrator so the whole thing could be very simple, in any event please help me. 
    I start up illustrator CS5 (Mac version) and the ONLY thing that is visible is a grey bar across the top of my screen with the AI logo.  No tools of any kind and from what I can tell no way to enable them.
    I have uninstalled and reinstalled Illustrator, then all of the master collection and then I went and deleted the Illustrator preferences file...still no results.  I can open AI files etc... just can't use tools (Paintbrush, etc...)

    Illustrator was shut down when I deleted the preferences files.
    Used Cmd+Option+Shift during startup...no change
    I used Appcleaner for the uninstall.
    I've talked to other people about this and at this point I am really confused beyond belief.

  • Preview doesn't do the obvious...

    I am trying to set up a simple presentation of a series of images.
    I can create a slideshow of them in Preview but can not save the slideshow. It would have been obvious to let you save them as a QuickTime movie or print them to a multi-page pdf file. No way.
    In fact this has lead me to waste an entire day unsuccessfully chasing apps to let me do this simple task.
    Quicktime is crude beyond belief and failed to create a slideshow with a large number of files. It wasn't even graceful in its failure, it just went through the motions and produced no file.
    I tried several times, hunting through my desktop and HDs trying to find possible places it had dumped them, to no avail.
    Keynote makes me drag each file into a tailor made file and then hand place & adjust each image. It won't even let me bring in the files unless I go via iPhoto which is itself clumsy and quite confusing in its organisation style. The alternative is to drag in 1 file from the desktop, create a new page & drag in 1 file from the desktop etc. Imagine doing this for 100s of images!
    iPhoto only allows 3 sizes for exported movies, none of which match my file sizes and is excruciatingly slow and seems to hang at the end with a perpetually spinning beachball.
    Besides I hate having to take things into iPhoto as it creates yet more duplicates of my files, in places I have trouble locating and eats up my bootdrive.
    iMovie creates huge files, blowing everything up into ridiculously large sizes.
    Pages has basically the same problems as Keynote with some extra gotchas thrown in.
    So much for iLife which seems to consider Hidden Features = Intuitive User Interface.
    I am now going through a dozen 3rd party apps all of which also fail to deliver the goods.
    How hard can this be for a simple slideshow?
    Beaut iMac G5 2Ghz + G4 400 AGP upgraded to G4 1000 that bombs all the time   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    I have done all that. Next time I imported photos from my camera it stuck them back into the original iPhoto Library Folder on my bootup drive. By the time I noticed, I had a lovely shemozzle of some in one location and some in another with no clean way of sorting them out.
    If you launch iPhoto with the external HD disconnected, it will create a library in the default position. A simple habit to get into is to hold down the option key when launching iPhoto and forcing yourself to choose the library each time, especially if you occasionally launch the app with the HD not available. Works for iTunes too.
    As for all the rest there is nothing flagging whether a particular file has or hasn't been copied, or is merely linked,
    There's nothing to flag. This is a one time decision. Either you want to Copy the Files to the iPhoto Library Folder or you don't. If you do, leave iPhoto in it's default settings, otherwise change the option at Preferences -> Advanced.
    or you are dealing with an edited copy, or there is no edited copy and that is it.
    The iPhoto Window always shows you the most recent version of the pic. If you can't recall whether you've previously edited it, simply right-click on it. If Revert To Original is available, it's been previously edited. If not, it hasn't. (Or a quick glance at the View menu will tell you the same thing.)
    It is a mess which you are supposed to leave as an all or nothing or take extensive notes in a notebook attached to your monitor and consult before you do anything drastic.
    I have 35 gigs of pics and no notebook. Of course, iPhoto is not for everybody. Many people prefer a simple image viewer as opposed to a Photo Organiser.
    I can get my head around iTunes (even when it makes repeated linking errors) but iPhoto is a black cat tied up in a sack in a locked trunk in the bottom of the basement with the bulb burned out.
    You do realise that both apps are databases, and like any database they require that you manipulate the data from within the app rather than through the finder. The good news is that pretty much anything you need to do can be achieved from within the apps. There's a very helpful community over at the iPhoto discussions.
