Confused by user reports - childs/detail
SQL Dev user reports are very powerful and I like them very much. I am a little bit worried that I am not able to explore and employ all user report features. I found the documentation a little bit short. But maybe I overlooked something or I am not an explorer as I used to be.
My problems:
1) I do not know the difference between detail and child sub-reports
2) I have not figured out how to pass values from "parent" report into Script / plsql-dbms_output / code sub-report
What I am trying to do:
I have a log table LOG_MSG with inbound messages for entities. The message (table row) has ID and content.
There is also table LOG_ERROR which records errors for messages identified by ID (LOG_MSG.ID = LOG_ERROR.MSG_ID). I successfully used "Type: Detail, Style: Table" sub-report to display message errors for the active row. Neat :-)
Now I am facing this problem. Message is composed from values separated by `|'. I would like to parse a message and display in subreport each message parameter in new row. I have a PL/SQL procedure, which parses a message and stores the parameters in global temporary table. So the report SQL should be something like:
BEGIN P_PARSE (:ID); END;
SELECT *
FROM TMP_PARAMS;
Should I use Detail or Child type? Table / script / ... style? How to pass a parameter to Script subreport? My every attempt to pass a value from parent repor failed (:ID, &ID, #ID#) :-(

I have this report and it works:
Master:
select 'X' dummy, 123 num
from dual

select 'Y' dummy, 456 num
from dual
Detail (on single line and with bind variable in UPPERCASE):
declare bind1 varchar2(100) := :DUMMY; begin dbms_output.put_line ('There is '||bind1||' in master.'); end;
The column from master must be in uppercase when used in child pl/sql and whole pl/sql must be on single line.
Note the difference in upper/lowercase for dummy column. Even it is un lowercase in master, in child it must be in uppercase.
In this way it works for me.

I'm trying to develope an report page with link to an detailed page.
Report page should be consists fields from different tables e.g. kurs.kurs_description, kurstermin_startdate ....
The link in the first column should appears an page with detailed informations, but this fields should be more than the report page.
Currently i've got only the same entries from the report page. How can i show more detailed informations? Both report and detailed page should be only readable. That's why i can't use an master-detailed form.

User report issues in 1.1.0.21.97
A couple of issues i'm experiencing with user reports on Mac OS X in the latest pre-releas build
first off, if I am asked for a password (first time I use the connection) there is no feedback if the connection fails (worng password for instance)
The second problem I'm facing is every time I try to rerun a certain master-detail report I'm getting an NPE

barsemaWe have verified the connection error on the latest evaluation build is working as expected. i.e. if you supply wrong password you get alerted to that. This has been verified on the windows and Mac OS X. Please try the latest evaluation release 1.1.0.22.71.

I have a requirement to do some validations whenever the user enters the license plate number in
ESS Travel and Expenses / Create Expense report / Mileage Details .The system must throw a message if the user enters a wrong license plate number.
How do i know whether this is ABAP WD iview or JWD iview.IS there any BADI or BAPI for the validations.
Where is the information about License plate getting saved.
I have created a custom infotype for my requirement. The license plate must be validated from the data present in this infotype.
Can someone post me some advice on this please.

AnilAchieved by enhancing WDA Component FITE_VC_MILEAGE, view DETAILS_VIEW and added a post-method exit call to check if the licence plate entered by the users match the one saved on infotype 0017 or our custom infotype. So when the user clicks on either 'Accept' or 'Accept and New entry' buttons the license plate is check with the data stored on IT0017 or your custom infotype - If the license plate match then the user should be able to save the record but if this doesn't match then the system should throw an error message. created a custom message class in SE91.

I have a situation where I have to report the detail and summary information from one cube (or multiple cubes) in a single report. Following is the example cube with smaple data and the required report

You can acheive this using single cube.
All you need to do is to define 2 restricted keyfigures the following way.
1. Amount (Cust/Material Group)
In the Restricted KF (either global or local), pull in the Material to the right side, right click on it and select "Constant Selection". Save it.
2. Amount (Customer)
Pull in both Material and Material Group and do the same step as above for both. Save it.
Now run the query and tests it. Let us know if i worked.

1. TACAS+ Accounting and Logged in Users report is not working on ACS 4.1(1
Hi,
I am facing problem with ACS 4.1 accounting, TACAS+ Accounting and Logged in Users report are not working, the csv file is been generated but nothing is showened in the file.
I have checked the documents related to ACS 4.1, it says that there is a bug related to command accounting âCSCsg97429 - TACACS+ Command Accounting does not work in ACS 4.1(1) Build 23â.
Tried upgrading the same with the patch applAcs-4.1.1.23.3.zip, still it is not working.
Other reports are working fine.
1. TACAS+ Accounting - not working
2. Logged in Users - not working
3. TACAS+ Administration - working
4. Passed Authentication - working
5. Failed Attempts - working
Any suggestions or any idea, please revert.

As I have mentioned all the other reports are working. Which user and when he has logged in and what commands he has used. Only the TACAS+ Accounting and logned user is not working.

Blocking locks by user report hangs
Please,
"Blocking locks by user" report under "Database Administration Section" of "Data Dictionary Reports" is hanging
every time we try to run it against any database.
Please, confirm this issue in Oracle Sql Developer 4.0 EA since it was working perfectly in
Oracle SQL Developer 3.2.2 (3.2.20.09.87).
Also, allow us an estimate deadline for correction.

Hi Robert,
A good place to start when it comes to reporting is Forte Consulting. They
have developed a tool called ReportKit, which is ActiveX integration with
Seagate Software's Crystal Reports tool. Crystal is not really a three-tier
tool (although, your Forte Consultant can probably set it up to mimic a
three-tier tool), but it is a quick, easy way to get quality reports from
your existing Forte applications. If you're interested, give your Forte
Sales Rep (or, better still, your Forte Regional Consulting Director) a
call. They can discuss pricing and scheduling. I've done several
integration projects with Crystal, and I highly recommend ReportKit for
small- to medium-sized reporting requirements. As for costs, I don't recall
how much CrystalReports runs, but I think there are developer licenses and
runtime licenses.
FYI, the actual integration of ReportKit is pretty quick. The more
time-consuming piece of any report tool integration is the design and
implementation of the reports to be used.

I had created a query and created the report by clicking create report button. But i am not aware how to view the report. I am unable to find appropriate menu item to view the user report.

To view a already set-up report in the defined query layout, you need to open up query manager, select the report (do not double click - just highlight!) and then click on the print preview button.

Active user report has different responsibility start date than inquiry for

I have a user for whom I see a different responsibliy start date in user inquiry form than what I see in Active user report for the same user.
Any idea why it is this way?
This tells me that inquiry forma and active users are pulling responsiblity start date from different place.
